On the opposite side of the shop from the pygmy puffs is a brand new, brightly colored area. Large balloons in various animal shapes float above a colorful and slightly falling apart stand with a giant helium tank sitting beside it. A few feet away are several shelves full of every magical toy you could ever dream of, just waiting for you to take them home.

Looking for that perfect birthday present? What’s better than a miniature Quidditch set? Complete with a two-feet-wide Quidditch Pitch and your own quidditch teams to play the game while you watch! Or how about a mini Magizoo set? You can take care of your own magical creatures right in your house! Feel free to browse the shelves! You’ll find everything from teddy bears to enchanted model trains! These toys are great as birthday or Christmas gifts, or even just to buy for your own entertainment. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy toys, either. You’ll find that there are toys for every age! If you have a question or need assistance, please ask the shopkeeper. Please don’t try to reach the high shelf items by yourself.

"Reckon he might be insulted that it's a fairy?" It wasn't like she was being mean or anything. "We don't put ourselves first. We're pretty darn brilliant. They got lucky." Totally.

"Awwww. Cannoli. That's so precious!" Cat hugged Cannoli to her and was delighted that he hugged back. This was never going to get old, okay? Never. Cat's arms were SO FULL now she really didn't have any more room for browsing. She glanced at Elodie and tilted her head at the other girl's question, "Oh, dunno. Probably not. It's not like you're mean to him or something, you're his girlfriend so like... he knows you like him."

And stuff. Cat nodded all knowingly like and hefted up her items.

"Wanna head to the register? I'm thinking about food now and I don't think this bear tastes like a cannoli, but I'd rather not have to bite him and find out." Cause he was soooo super cuddly.

Landon was waiting for an answer and after twenty seconds of not hearing anything from Melanie, he looked down at her face and smirked. "I'll take that as a yes." He said, poking her in the side hoping to tickle her. Yes, he could definitely be evil when he wanted too.

"Why would you ever want to slay me? I'm amazing." He said, pretending to flip his non-existent long hair. He laughed at himself. "You'd like to think I'm jealous, but I'm not." He shook his head. It was a pretty cool balloon but he'd never admit it to Melanie. Nope. Never.

He was going to get a balloon now? "No way, I've always had bad things happen to me with balloons." He nodded, stopping in his tracks before she could lead him over. He wasn't scared of balloons, but what could happen if he had one.

She jumped a little when he poked her side. "You can take it as a no, I don't fall into that five percent," she said with a shrug and poking him back. Because really, why was he poking her sides anyways? Melanie hadn't done anything particularly bad. Actually, she hadn't done anything bad at all. From the moment she had gotten here, Melanie was fairly certain that she had said nothing but the truth and the whole truth. No lies.

Melanie couldn't help but laugh when she saw Landon pretend to flip his hair. "I didn't want to, Sir Knight the Rabbit wanted to," she teased. "It's a shame they don't sell wigs here, it'd be funny seeing you flip your hair." Very amusing. It'd be like watching those black and white comedies on the television where everyone's motions were way too exaggerated.

"It's okay, Sir Knight, Landon's jealous of you because you have a sword and you're capable of slaying him," she told her balloon animal before smirking slightly at Landon... then using the rabbit to poke Landon again.

He wasn't going to get one? "Bad things? The worse thing that can happen is you getting an ugly balloon or else having your balloon popped or getting a balloon cuter than mine," Melanie pointed out. She was prettyyyy sure nothing else that was bad would happen if he got a balloon. "And look at how pretty the colors are. Don't you want one?"

Because if he didn't want his balloon, Melanie would take it. She didn't mind getting a second balloon, nope.

Landon blinked and then looked at Melanie with a smirk on his face. "You liiiiiiiike me." He grinned, placing an arm around her shoulders. "Don't worry. I won't tell anybody." Except he already knew so HAH.

"Because balloons can speak now." He chuckled. Though he was sure someone could put a charm on it or something to make it speak. That would just haunt him in his dreams though. "I'll never put on a wig again." He shook his head, remembering the time Daphne made him into a girl. Worst day of his life. Melanie made the balloon poke him again and he could only laugh. Oh yeah, he was soooo jealous.

So did he want a balloon? No. "No way, Melanie. I just don't want one." He shook his head. He'd tell her another time about his balloon story. Another day.

Cat approved it seemed. Awesome. This was all good and that. Els left her to hugging her newly-named bear and juggled her toy gatherings so as not to drop them and to make sure she had all she wanted. There had been someone calling out about balloons just a second ago, but he ignored thaaat because bears and skipping ropes took priority. ”I guess.” She was getting him the fairy anyway, so when they weren’t together, he thought of her. She’d even made sure to choose one with an orange dress, because orange was her colour love.

Everyone knew her person love. But orange was her colour love for reals.

Registerrrrr? Sounded good. Els nodded and looked down at Spaghetti. ”I’m wondering if Spaghetti tastes like spaghetti, and whether Elcat tastes like us…. SO, yeah. Let’s go spend moneys.” Actually, what would they taste like? Hmm.. She pondered that as she passed Cat and headed for PAYMENT.

Her jaw dropped open and she closed it trying to form words. And when he slung an arm around her shoulders she couldn't say a thing. Not a word would come out of her mouth. This time, her cheeks probably were telling a story. It was probably red with the words 'Landon stop' emblazoned on it.

Sputtering a bit, Melanie shook her head furiously. "No. No, I don't. I don't like you. Don't be silly, Landon. I... uh... I... there's nothing to tell anyone because I don't like you. Not like that at least. I like you as a friend. And... uh..." Melanie couldn't figure out what to say at all. "And I have a boyfriend."

Except she didn't. And then she paled considerably after saying that.

What had she just said, exactly? Where was the wall? Melanie needed to rest her head on that and just... not think.

"They can actually," Melanie said, nodding her head. She knew a spell that could make the balloon record her voice and make it talk. She had studied up on it for the OWLs. He wasn't going to put on a wig again? "Except for the afro one, right?" Melanie said with a giggle. Because he had mentioned it. And since Melanie assumed he wouldn't be growing an actual afro, she was going to assume that he was going to get a wig.

He didn't want a balloon?

Well then... "Oh hey, look at the stuffed animals!" Melanie exclaimed, beaming and attempting to pull him towards those instead. Maybe she could find one that looked like Landon.

Landon was pretty proud of himself once he saw Melanie's reaction. So she did like him. Well that's what he thought but the next words that came out of her mouth, he was definitely not expecting. It was almost like he was stabbed in the heart or something once she said that she didn't like him and that she...had a boyfriend. "Oh." He said, immediately taking his arm off from around her. He distanced himself a bit, to make sure that no one would see them then. He didn't need an angry boyfriend mad at him. But wasn't she giving him all the signs that she did like him? He was confused. "Sorry, I thought-...never mind." He sighed, turning away from her and looking at some of the toys on the shelves. He felt like an idiot at this point. Why did he even try?

He just nodded as she continued to talk about the wigs and whatnot. It was weird now. Really weird. She had to know how he felt about her and now it was...strange. "You can go ahead and look at the stuffed animals." He frowned, grabbing one of the auror action figures and looking at it. He was not in the mood.

Melanie did not like it when he removed his arm. Or at least that warm fluttery feeling from her tummy didn't like it. She bit her lip then nodded. The Gryffindor looked up at the ceiling blinking her eyes quickly. Why did she say that? What had even compelled her to say that? She fiddled with the balloon animal in her hands and glanced at Landon. "Yeah... " She needed to tell him she didn't really have a boyfriend. But she didn't know how to even start that conversation.

And then he was telling her to go look at the stuffed animals on her own.

"Oh... do... you want to go look at something else? I... think I saw some pogo sticks at the other end of the aisle..." she said quietly. She watched him take an Auror action figure off the shelf and tugged on the strings on the bag that held the gifts from Landon.

Landon felt even more of a heartbreak when she confirmed that she did have a boyfriend. How could he have been so stupid? Instead of arguing with her, he only had one question. "No, I don't want to go look at pogo sticks. I-uh..." He walked over to her, "...is the guy at least nice to you? He treats you right?" Because if this guy didn't, then Landon was definitely going to have to talk to him.

He realized he was still holding the action figure in his hands because his grip was tightening. He lightened his hold on it and set it back down on the shelf. He looked back at Melanie with a blank look. "I-I hope things aren't weird now because you know and...yeah." He nodded. He was sure she knew that he liked her and if she didn't, well how oblivious could she be?

He didn't want to go look at the pogo sticks either? Melanie just watched Landon, then. She didn't know what else to do. Having a rabbit with a sword no longer seemed as cool. Was the guy nice to her? Did he treat her right? How did she tell him there was no guy?

"Yeah, he's really... he's really... nice to me..." Melanie muttered quietly wishing she hadn't said that at all.

What was wrong with her? What would Abby do? What was she supposed to do? Melanie was pretty sure running out of the shop was out of the question. And then he was saying how things wouldn't be weird now and things and that just made Melanie feel even worse. There was most definitely something wrong with her. She was sure of it. "Y-yeah. Things aren't weird at all. Why would things be weird?" Melanie said, struggling to put a smile on her face. Except she didn't have a boyfriend and she just lied to Landon saying that she did.

Wasn't this for the best though? They hadn't worked out the first time around and there was no saying that they'd work this time around anyways right? So... really... it was... just saving the trouble even though she wished she could take it all back. There, apparently, was no rewind button for these situations.

He was nice? Since when did she even have a boyfriend? All these questions kept running through Landon's head and he barely knew what to say anymore. "Good. I just...why wouldn't you tell me until now? I wouldn't have done...I shouldn't have...since when have you had this boyfriend?" He asked. And then something hit him. What if he knew the guy? Could this be like a Minnie situation? Where he dates someone and then it ends up that his two best friends date her as well. He hoped not. He really hoped it wasn't going to be like that. "Who-who is it?" He said, his hands shaking a bit.

She said things wouldn't be weird but Landon questioned that because did she not even understand how much he still liked her? "I guess that's good then." He nodded, unsure of even his own answer.

How does one make up a fake boyfriend in their head? Melanie stopped playing with the bag and moved onto playing with her bracelet, trying her best to be interested in it. Melanie had done a lot of dumb things in her life and this was one of the dumbest. And then he was asking questions about her 'boyfriend' again. "I... my boyfriend... I've..." She didn't know what to say. She didn't have a boyfriend. She was never with this 'boyfriend'. And then another question. Who is her boyfriend? "He's... he's..."

No answer. To anything.

"I'm... he's..."

Still nothing to say. Melanie twisted her bracelet around her wrist over and over again before stopping only to start again. "He's... he's... he's... you?"

What did she say? Her eyes went wide when she said it and her face went bright red. She hadn't meant that. He wasn't her boyfriend either. She didn't have one. What was she saying? Someone needed to press pause on her mouth and march her right out the door, towards the Leaky Cauldron and floo her back home.

Because nothing she was doing or saying was making any sense whatsoever.

Landon waited patiently as Melanie seemed to be stuck on her boyfriend's name. Why couldn't she just say it? He was getting frustrated now. They were supposed to be ~~best~~ friends. Why wouldn't she tell him?

He waited and waited and then...WHAT?

Landon blinked, feeling as though someone had just smacked him in the face. Did he hear her right? Did she just say him? "W-what?" He stuttered.

Funny. That was the same word going through her mind right now. Except probably a lot more bolded and angry and red and all sorts of unpleasant. She didn't know what she just said. She didn't know what she was going to say. Melanie Sung just knew that she had said something incredibly dumb. Actually, everything she had said in the past few minutes was incredibly dumb.

"I... I meant... he's not you. He's someone else. Who's like you. But not you. I... I..." Melanie stammered.

What was she supposed to do?

Were there any distractions present? Melanie would very much appreciate a distraction right about now. "I don't know. Just... just forget it? Forget I said anything. I didn't say anything. Rewind."

Because what else was she supposed to say?

Landon had a blank expression as she tried to explain whatever she was trying to say. But really it was just confusing him even more. So it wasn't him, it was someone else who is like him? What?

And now she was telling him to forget it and he shook his head. "No. Melanie, tell me. Who is it? Please." He said, making that puppy dog look without even trying to.

He needed to know. If it was one of his best friends or someone who he knew then he had to know. Why couldn't she just tell him?

Who was it? Who was he? Melanie didn't know the name of the boyfriend she made up on the spot. She didn't know when she met him and if the imaginary boyfriend treated her nicely. She didn't know if the imaginary boyfriend was like Landon and she didn't know what to do. But he was asking questions and Melanie didn't have answers to any of his questions because she didn't know.

So who was her boyfriend?

She looked up from her bracelet to Landon and then felt her heart go all gooey. She wondered if this is what cheese felt like after being heated up. "I... I... I don't really have a boyfriend..." Melanie said weakly and then looking back at her bracelet and biting her lip.

Landon waited for what seemed forever for an answer from Melanie and when she did he felt like his heart had just crashed and burned. "You don't?" He asked, feeling extremely upset now. "If you didn't want me to like you, all you had to tell me was to go away. You didn't have to make up a boyfriend." He backed up a few more steps away from her. It was like he didn't even know her anymore. He felt stupid.

How could he even think that she would even like him again? He wanted to try but obviously she didn't. Had she been lying this entire time?

Seeing Landon take a few steps away from her felt like he was walking all over her. Because with each step it felt just a tad bit heavier on her heart. Which was ridiculous because she wasn't supposed to like Landon that way and she had told herself that she was over him. It had taken her forever to get over him too.

Melanie felt tears prickling at her eyes. Nope. She wasn't going to cry. She couldn't. She had put herself in this situation and this was all her fault.

"I... you... I didn't mean to..." Melanie felt like her voice was tiny. She felt tiny. And above all, she felt horrible. "I... panicked and I didn't know what to say. And... I... I don't know, Landon. I don't know." Melanie didn't dare look up from the floor to look at Landon. If she did, she was pretty sure she would burst with unnecessary tears. She just focused on the flowers on her shoes and willed her vision to focus itself.

Landon could see that Melanie was close to tears and he wanted to tell her not to cry and hug her but he couldn't allow himself too. He felt heartbroken and she lied to him. She lied.

"I just wish you would've told me that you didn't like me. We're supposed to be friends, Melanie. And...today, I was going to-I was hoping to...you were giving me all the signs and...I can't. I just can't now." He shook his head. He had it all planned on what to do but this was definitely not how he expected it to go, unfortunately.

She didn't know if she should take a step towards him or to just stand there. She settled for just standing there. She had a feeling if she tried to take a step she'd fall or something. Plus, if her inside hurt so much, who knew what it'd be like to walk.

"We are friends," Melanie quickly said, looking up at him, hurt. They were friends, weren't they? There had been a point when they were best friends too. But that time had passed. And he was talking about signs and Melanie didn't know what to say. "I do like you though..." she muttered, returning her gaze to the ground and her shoes, feeling even dumber than she had moments ago.

Melanie definitely felt like she found a way to mess things up every time.

Landon shook his head and looked everywhere but Melanie. Thoughts were running through his head and he really didn't want to start yelling at her. He was upset. He ran a hand through his hair, obviously having no words at the moment. And then he heard her say something but couldn't quite hear it. "What did you say?" He asked, taking a step closer. He thought he heard her, but it couldn't be true.

"Look. Melanie; I just...you didn't trust me when we broke up before because you thought I was going to cheat on you with Emilie. I never did, did I? And now...you're lying to me about having this boyfriend and you don't even like me? I...I don't know what to do now." He sighed. He didn't even know what point he was trying to make.

Melanie's hand went up to brush her hair out of her face out of habit before feeling Landon's beanie on her head and her heart sinking even more. She heard him take another step closer and closed her eyes. He was going to yell at her now, wasn't he? He was going to call her stupid which was okay because Melanie understood that could be quite stupid at times.

But instead, he just asked her what she said. And she tried to repeat herself but no words came out of her open mouth. Again, her voice failed her when she needed it most. Hearing the word 'look' made Melanie look up though. So she did. She looked up and saw Landon one step closer than he was before but it didn't make Melanie feel any better.

"You liked her though," she muttered. It was more to herself than anything. Landon had liked Emilie. That much had been obvious. He might not have cheated but he liked her and Melanie didn't want to compete. She didn't want to compete back then and she didn't want to now. They Gryffindor felt a lump in throat and it wouldn't go away as Landon kept talking. "You could be my boyfriend." There. She said it. It was quiet but she had said it. And right after she said it she focused her attention back on her shoes.

Landon didn't really think she was going to answer him. She didn't expect her too. When girls did say things really quietly he learned that they didn't really want the other person to hear it but they did. It was confusing logic really.

It was true. He had liked Emilie. "I-I'm not going to say I didn't and I was absolutely wrong for that. I know. I just...I broke up with you because you didn't have any trust in me. And now...it's almost the opposite." He sighed. And he didn't even date Emilie. Well he tried too but then he realized how she really was and he felt like a horrible horrible jerk. He looked up once he heard those words come out of his mouth and he almost couldn't believe it. "Are you...joking?" He asked. It wasn't sarcastic when he asked, he was serious, because he didn't want to be lied to again.

Melanie pushed the beanie up a little on her head and with all the Gryffindor bravery she could muster up, looked directly at him as he spoke. And that took a lot of Gryffindor bravery.

He broke up with her. That sounded about right. And it was because she hadn't trusted him. That sounded about right. But how was she supposed to trust him when when he left he had basically confessed his love for someone else as well? Melanie averted her gaze and looked back down at the ground a few times because he didn't trust her now. And that was all because she had done something stupid.

Was she joking? How was she supposed to answer?

"... no?" Melanie said though it came out more like a question. She wasn't sure herself.

Landon took a deep breath in and out as she said no. "Do you trust me now?" He asked her. He needed to know. Because if she didn't well...they wouldn't work out again. A relationship needed trust. "I trust you...I just...why would you lie to me about having a boyfriend?" He still didn't understand that part. Girls definitely confused him.

"You can keep the presents, by the way." He muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. Just in case she thought she couldn't anymore because he got upset.
