Wal-Market HQ, Basement LevelThis worldwide conglomerate houses both Muggle and magical employees, so you'll have to be on guard at all times. The Department of Environmental Protection is located in the basement.
Probably the only room that wasn't hastily thrown together is the conference room. When the headquarters were built, someone on the construction team got a little too ambitious and put a conference room in the basement. Why is anyone's guess, but it's ended up working out pretty well for the Department of Environmental Protection, hmm?
OOC:Please don't post here unless a department - wide meeting has been called. These will show up on the Announcement Board, so check that often!

Well, that had certainly been disappointing. Not to mention, a complete waste of time.
After the MLE/A&C sanctioned game of hide-and-seek, Katelynn hurried back to where her department was settled, stopping on the way for some donuts for her employees. Entering the conference room, she set up the donuts and some plates and napkins that she had grabbed from the break room. Now all she needed was her employees. Whom she had expected to be here already, but as soon as they arrived soon, there wouldn't be any trouble.

Jasmine got the notice that there was a new person as the head of the department. As she entered the doors, she noticed the new woman was there. Plus there were donuts. She couldn't argue with donuts. She smiled towards her and sat down in the chair. She got the chocolates and vanilla frosted donut. She was quite hungry.
She noticed that there wasn't too many people here. Did she come here too early? She checked her watch. Nope she was on time. I guess people were coming late. Tough luck for them.
*eyes Alex's mindset* Craziness runs in the Hadley bloodline ;)

Alex had mixed feelings right now; as in like why did Roxanne suddenly just LEAVE without any notice? Like what kind of person DID that? That was just plain rude. Oh right - a former prosecutor slash law enforcement type person. See this was why law enforcement people made terrible partners in a relationship. You couldn't trust them and they might just one day .... disappear on you. Astronomers were much more stable partners. Or Magizoologists; they knew how to care properly at least.
But why was she even thinking about this? Probably because of the notice about meeting a new department head and the MLE/A&C hide-and-seek activity she just came from. Maybe this was just a game about Roxanne? She was hiding? And being from Law Enforcement, she was a naturally good hider.
Entering the conference room, Alex spotted two people there already. New person with donuts and Jasmine. "Now there's the way to any witches heart - donuts!" Alex beamed in approval, taking the seat next to Jasmine. "May i?" Because she didn't want to just take one if they were for some activity planned. "Hiya Jasmine! Enjoy your winter break?"

Jasmine was eating her donut, when she noticed Alex. She smiled and greeted her with a nod while in mid mouthful. She took a polite sip of water to wash it down and then replied. "Hi Alex! Oh my winter break was fabulous. I went on a cruise to Belize with my friend and her family." Yeah her friend was rich. She loved living the high life with her bestie. I mean she invited her and she payed a little bit of course.

Ronnie made her way into the conference room, glancing worriedly at her watch. She wasn't too late, thankfully. She had sort of forgotten where the conference room was and had panicked out in the hall, but she found it all right. Taking a seat, she smiled warmly at everyone around the table. "Hello," she said to all of them.
Annalise made her way into the conference room, tossing her long blonde hair back as she sat down in the closest unoccupied seat. "Hello there!" She beamed, raising her hand in a wave as she addressed the room. She took a deep breath in, her nose wrinkling at the never ceasing mildew scent that wafted through her nostrils. Ugh. They really needed to find a way to fix that.
"For those that don't know me I'm Annalise, Junior Botanist."

Ronnie turned in her seat slightly when she heard another person enter the room. She smiled at the woman as she took a seat. "Hello, it's good to meet you," she said as she got a little more comfortable in her chair. "I'm Ronnie Hawkins." she told her. She then took a good look around the room since she hadn't quite done so yet. It was a pretty nice conference room, for being in a basement and all. It did feel a bit chilly though, but that could just be Ronnie. She did tend to get slightly cold pretty easily. Ah, well. It didn't bother her too much.

As Jasmine was busy talking to Alex, she noticed someone new came into the room. Jasmine nodded and put on her kind smile. She waved to Annalise and walked over to give her a handshake. "Hey Annalise, i am Jasmine, Permitting Officer."

While everyone was busy greeting each other and admiring the tasty, sugary confections, the lights in the basement located room began to dim slightly yet noticeably for few seconds at a time before returning to their normal brightness. They did this several times in a row before flickering completely off and quickly coming back on.

The lights were flickering? Ronnie looked around, blinking a few times as they flickered and suddenly shut off, causing her to let out a tiny yell of surprise. Then, they came back on. A look of puzzlement plastered her face as she looked at the others. "What was that all about?" she asked curiously, glancing back up at the lights. Huh. Very curious.

Well wasn't someone enjoying themselves? Alex beamed a little at Jasmine in vague interest. "Well that sounds lovely," mmhm. She should take one of the donuts now. Or five.
"No cruise for me," Alex laughed. "But it was still alright. Just stayed local ... apparated home to visit my family for a couple days."

Two more entered and Alex gave a brief nod of greeting towards her co-workers. So she DID know almost everyone then? Except the new-Roxanne she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting.

The lights flickered? Well this was odd, but they were in a basement. And not the kind like the real Ministry, which was technically ALL in a basement.
"It's... we have permission to be meeting down here, right?" LIKE they rented out the space?
Or was the light flickering a cue that they were supposed to evacuate or something?

Jasmine smiled and replied, "Well i am somewhat new. I was only hired last year, so i know my bearings but not quite yet." She was a new face to the department but she planned on making a good impression.

"Oh it was. I had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend to go on one in the future." she told Alex. Maybe she would take her advice. Who knows? "Oh where is your family from?" Jazz asked being interested. Then she noticed the lights flickering on and off. She heard some commotion upstairs and she looked up. She gave the noise a quizzical look.
She noticed both of her coworkers heard the same thing. "You guys heard it too, i am not crazy right?" she addressed to both of them.
