Upper FloorsIt becomes more airy as you make your way to the upper floors of the castle. Here the tallest towers can be accessed and just maybe you will discovery somewhere that f you have to ask, you'll never know but if you know, you need only ask.
Because the seventh floor is the gateway to Hogwarts' biggest towers, you can expect to access quite a bit of the castle from here. The most notable areas that this corridor provides passage to are the Owlery, Astronomy Tower, Divination Tower, the common rooms for both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, and, if you know where to look, the Room of Requirement. Sweeping views of the Quad below are available thanks to a series of large windows.
After stepping onto the seventh-floor corridor, a statue of Lachlan the Lanky immediately greets you. There really isn't anything overly special about him, but one can hide behind him and not be easily found if you're playing hide-and-go-seek or are just wanting to completely avoid someone. A renowned tapestry and numerous portraits, ranging from a mother and her baby, various wildlife animals, and the chivalrous Sir Cadogan adorn the walls. The latter portrait, should you ever need help getting around, is always eager to assist those who are, allegedly, in distress.
Valerie was on her way back from sending her first letter by owl! And a heavy letter it was, too. She just HAD to write her mom about every detail of every second since left her on the train. And there was a LOT to talk about. The kids on the train! The funny sweets! The lake! The castle! The food! The Houses! The sorting hat! The staircases! The portraits! The ghosts! The lessons!!
She wasn't really paying attention to where she was going because she was thinking about the letter and making sure she didn't forget to put anything in it so she didn't have to write a SECOND letter because her hand hurt.

And don't even get her started on that moving staircase! Who even came up with that?!
So there she was, stood firmly in front of the statue of Lachlan the Lanky observing him quietly when she heard first steps coming her way. Dark eyes swung around to see who was there, a large smile gracing her lips when she actually recognized the someone as a dorm mate of hers! "Hiya!" Gabriella chirped warmly in greeting, waving at Valerie.

That was the case for this girl as well. If she paid attention a little more, perhaps she wouldn't constantly get herself all turned about and lost. Yet.. getting herself lost all about the castle and the grounds had already proven itself to be of some true use to her. This was how she had come across a few interesting spots that had been more than worth the time spent at them exploring.
"Val!" Gabs giggled, throwing her arms about her new friends shoulders in the form of a returned squish. "I think that would depend on where you're heading." If it were back to their common room than Valerie was going the correct way. "Ummm.. I meant to go to the owlery to send some letters off... But I may have gotten a little sidetracked." One of her hands was waved casually at the statue she was still standing near. As for her friends close proximity, this girl didn't mind it. "Do you want to come along with me?.. Then maybe we can find something fun to do?" It was so fantastic having a dorm mate that she got along with right away!
