Vishu's 100 Drabbles For Neville Longbottom/Ginny Weasley - Sa 13+ || I Vow To Write 100 Drabbles For Neville/Ginny || 21. Veela The doors of the great door opened bringing in a train of first years in new robes in a neat double file Neville's eyes caught the sight of a slender, red haired girl. She had freckles had a sparkle in her eyes. She looked like a veela, only with red hair and freckles. Harry traced where Neville’s eyes were. He leaned towards him and said, “That’s Ginny, Ron’s sister.” Ginny looked around the hall and saw Ron. She started waving madly at him and Ron replied with a single, disinterested wave. “Ginny…” Neville said again to himself. “Nice.” He smiled. |
A newly sorted Ginny came and sat with her fellow Gryffindors after she was sorted. There wasn’t any place but next to Neville so without thinking much she went and sat next to him. Neville’s heart skipped a beat. He tried to act cool but was failing. Ginny noticed him and smiled, “Hi! I’m Ginny and you?” Neville hesitated and without responding he hastily held up a Pumpkin Pasty “Want some?” he asked nervously smiling. Ginny looked at him, confused, she said “No... I’m allergic. Thanks.” And she tried to shift away from him. Great move, Neville thought to himself. |
Still seated in the Great Hall, Neville tried to make conversation with Ginny. “So, did you like the Sorting Hat experience?” He asked. “It was good.” She said smiling at him, making Neville blush. “How was your experience last year?” “It was horrible.” Neville recounted. “I could hardly sit still on the stool” he said pathetically. This made Ginny laugh, he’s cute, she thought. Ron noticed the two of them and said, “Ginny, come here.” Signaling to the vacant seat next to him. “I’m fine here, Ron” Ginny said coldly. “Just come here!” Ron ordered. “No.” she said. Neville laughed. |
The headmaster got up and the Great Hall fell silent. “Welcome to another year at Hogwarts!” announced Dumbledore. “First years, welcome” he smiled, looking around the Great Hall from his half moon spectacles. “He’s awesome,” Ginny gaped. “He is,” Neville responded with the same awe as Ginny. “I sincerely hope that you will enjoy the year to come….” He said and went on to explain to the first years about the house points, the house ghosts and classes. After the explanation, Ginny squeezed Neville’s arm, “I’m so excited!” Suddenly she realized whose hand she was squeezing and let go, blushing. |
Dumbledore finished his speech, “Now, you may move towards your common rooms.” Suddenly the hall was filled with the sound of the movement of benches. Ginny looked at Neville and again, Neville felt his heart skip a beat, “It was great talking to you” she smiled. But before Neville could reply, a haughty prefect came and stood right in front of them, “This way to the common room first years!” Ginny was pushed with the crowd. She kept searching for Neville but he could not be seen. She though about him, I should definitely meet him more often, she thought. |
The painting of the fat lady swung open on hearing the password (karaoke). The first years got their first site of the common room and the reactions were gasps and squeals. Neville was already in the common room, talking to his friends but from the corner of his eyes, he could see Ginny’s face which made him smile. He went to speak to Ginny, “Liked it?” he asked. “It’s wonderful!” she said. “I’ve never seen a more beautiful room!” she exclaimed, to which Neville thought, and I’ve never seen a more beautiful girl, instead he responded, “Glad you liked it.” |
The party was over and everyone was in bed. Before sleeping, Ginny wrote her day’s accounts in her diary. ‘I met a guy today. His name is Neville. He's really goofy but adorable and cute. I don’t know if I like him…I mean, he is a year older to me! Oh gosh, I’m so confused! Maybe this whole Neville thing is just a joke. Yes, it’s a JOKE!’ Across the hall in the boys’ dormitory, Neville wrote in his diary ‘I like her. Ginny Weasley. It’s no joke.’ Both of them slept that night in anticipation of the next morning. |
“Gooooooooood morning!” the twins who had arrived in the Great Hall with Ginny called out to Neville. But Neville only saw Ginny waving out to him “Hey Ginny,” he said which made the Weasley brothers exchange suspicious looks. Ginny took a seat next to him. ‘Act calm,’ is what she constantly told herself. After a long, awkward silence Neville was going to say something when Hermione stormed in holding the newspaper, “DID YOU GUYS READ THIS? HOW COULD THEY BE SO CRUEL?” Ginny quickly took the newspaper from Hermione and sought refuge in reading it. Anything from talking to Neville. |
Ron saw his sister engrossed in the newspaper, “Since so when did you become interested in the newspaper?” he demanded. “Today” Ginny snapped. “Whoa, okay. Don’t get snappish.” “It’s not snappish, it’s snappy.” Hermione corrected “Snappish is a word too” he said, now picking a fight with Hermione “Ron, its basic English!” “No. Who ever told you THAT?” he said getting up “When have you ever been correct, Ronald?” she demanded getting up too It was about to get nasty before they heard giggles. The giggles of Neville and Ginny. “I think I’m gonna puke” Ron said leaving the table. |
After breakfast Ginny took out her time table,” My first class is Herbology,” she said. Neville’s eyes brightened, “That’s my favorite subject!” he exclaimed. “Plants really aren’t my thing,” Ginny said apprehensively. “Don’t worry, you’ll do fine,” Neville reassured her, “I’ll help you” he smiled “Thanks,” Ginny said sounding extremely grateful, “That’s….sweet of you” Neville felt his cheeks going red. He knew he was blushing. “Anything for you,” he smiled. At this Ginny felt herself going as red as a tomato. All she did was laugh. Neville was glad he made her laugh. “Love blossoming,” Hermione whispered in Harry’s ear. |
The second class of the day for Ginny was Ancient Runes. It was much more boring than Herbology. During the class, Ginny thought of Neville. His smile, the way he talked, the way he laughed, the way he made her feel comfortable, everything. Is it okay to think of all this? She thought to herself. Maybe I like him but there’s NO WAY he likes me. He’s so much older to me! Ok Ginny, forget about it now. Ginny tried hard to pay attention to what was being taught but time and again her mind drifted towards Neville. Neville Longbottom. |
Four floors below, in the dungeons, Neville was in his Potions class. Professor Snape was briefing them on what they would learn this year. But Neville wasn’t paying attention. For the first time in his life he ignored what Snape was saying and was thinking of Ginny. Her smile, the way she talked, her laugh, and the way she made him feel comfortable… He was busy day dreaming when he heard, “Longbottom! Where is your attention?!” Neville was startled. He couldn’t answer any of Snape’s questions. “Looks like he was under the effect of a love potion,” Draco Malfoy taunted. |
Ginny and Neville met in the common room. One class left before lunch. He sat next to her; she had something in her hands. “How was school?” he asked. “Good,” she replied, still preoccupied with her hands. “What’s that?” “These are dragonhide gloves!” Ginny informed, “My dad got them for me before school. They’re really expensive! For our standards…” she said softly. “Their really nice,” Neville smiled. Suddenly someone called Ginny’s name, she was called by Professor McGonagall. “I can’t take these with me. Can you keep them for the moment? I’ll take them later” saying that, she hurrying off. |
The day was over and Neville came back to the common room to get ready for dinner. He saw Ginny with her friends. She was on her way out. Before going out she whispered in his ear, “Get the gloves down for dinner ok?” and smiled and went. Suddenly Neville remembered that…he couldn’t remember! He couldn’t remember where he had kept the gloves! He searched everywhere possible, he asked everyone possible and yet he did not find it. They were lost. He didn’t go down for dinner. He didn’t dare to do so. He didn’t know what to tell Ginny. |
After dinner, Ginny returned to the common room. She found Neville sitting with his back towards her. ”Hey,” she said. Neville gave a nervous smile. “Missed you at dinner,” “Sorry.” He said shamefully. Ginny was confused. “Okay, atleast could I have the gloves?” she asked him holding out her hand. He lifted his head and looked pathetically at her. “What?” she asked, “I can’t---can’t find it,” he said “I don’t remember where I put them” “WHAT?!” she shrieked. “HOW DID YOU LOOSE THEM?” she yelled. She was VERY angry. Neville wanted to say something but she just ran away. |
I could kill him. Ok, maybe slap him. How could he loose my gloves?! I thought he would be responsible with them. I even ignored Cindy when she told me he has a record of forgetting things. Diary, I HATE HIM! How can I tell dad? Ron and the twins already know. I’m dead. I’m never going to forgive him. Ginny went down in the night. Maybe he dropped it somewhere here. She saw Neville there. He came up to her. “Ginny, I’m so sor –“ But before he could finish Ginny had slapped him. Her eyes filled with tears. |
Neville didn’t sleep that night. He just lay still in bed. He could lay in this depression forever. It was better than facing Ginny tomorrow. Where could it be? He pondered. He tried to recollect where he kept it. But he just couldn’t remember where he kept them. He kept thinking about it the whole night and when he heard the first few birds beginning to chirp, he went down to the common room. He saw Ginny there, she was just sitting there, looking into space. Her eyes were still red, you could make out she had cried a lot. |
Neville wanted to apologize. He went and sat right opposite to her. Ginny didn’t look up. She was reading something. She kept reading. “Ginny, I really am sorry. I’m such a fool. I didn’t mean to loose the gloves like that.” She was still looking down. “I have this sort of a shameful record of loosing things, and I was going to tell –“ “How dare you?” Neville was confused. “You lost something so precious to me. I thought I made it clear that I didn’t want to see you again. And yet, you dare to come here and talk?” |
Neville went back to the dorm. He didn’t feel like doing anything. It was time for lunch. Harry came to call him. He tried to lure him by saying that there were pumpkin pasties. But Neville didn’t feel like coming. “C’mon Neville,” Harry urged, “You have the sweet tooth the size of a manticore!” Neville looked dismayed. “Not right now.” It felt as if the sweet tooth was smashed out because of Ginny’s slap. “I’ll pass today.” Harry saw that he wasn’t giving in, lost hope. In the Great Hall, Ginny was starting to repent what she did to Neville. |
Ginny kept thinking about what all she said to Neville in the Great Hall. Seeing her face, Hermione went and sat next to her, “Hey Ginny, what’s wrong?” she asked. Ginny looked at Hermione and gave a half smile, “Oh, nothing.” “Oh, c’mon. Tell me!” “Well…Neville and I had this huge fight because he lost my gloves. I even slapped him” Ginny said miserably. “Ouch. That bad, huh?” “Yeah.” “Well,” Hermione said, “Neville does have a record in losing things,” “I heard.” Ginny said. “Want me advice?” Hermione whispered. “Forgive the poor guy.” “I…..I’ll think about it.” |
