"Fickle" #46 (Tergeo): The Heavy, Ironic Secret - dedicated to Lissy and Lee. 3 cheers to you two! A light tinkle could be heard along Privet Drive. No, no, not a fellytone call. Neither would it be wise to blame the sound on a bad musician. And, dear me, certainly not a toddler doing its business. If your ears led the way (not the nose – shame on those who thought the latter), your mission will end in the kitchen of number four. “Tergeo!” Milly tapped one piece of china after another with her wand, gradually siphoning off water to yield dry, sparkling silverware. “Has your dad locked the cupboard?” she whispered. Dudley nodded. The Dursleys’ secret remained safeguarded. |
"Fickle" #20 (Knitting Charm): The Knitty-Gritty of Magic - dedicated to all Milly/Duddy fans out there! Dudley and Milly emerged from the kitchen. Beaming, Petunia nudged her beetroot of a husband to make room. Vernon grunted, ruffling his newspaper to expressing irritation. After much squeezing, fifteen minutes passed amid awkward silence. “My dear, would you –” Petunia gestured at the half-knitted undergarment. “It’s for Uncle Vern-vern, you see.” My wand! I remember holding it when leaving the kitchen. She nudged Dudley, mouthing ‘wand’ and pointing at his multi-layered backside. He reached into the depths of the sofa. Out emerged his hand with the wand clutched in the opposite way. Dudley’s Smeltings’ uniform unraveled before their eyes. |
