lily_snape's 50 Ficlets of Lily Evans - SA 13+ 45. Tarantallegra ‘Severus, please,’ Distant chimes indicated that it was one o’clock in the morning. Severus and Lily stood in a tight embrace on the dance floor. The house tables in the Great Hall had been pushed against the walls, replaced by a gigantic dance floor, and where the high table usually stood was a stage, occupied by Celestina Warbeck and some instrumentalists. Elegant white and gold banners draped from the ceiling, instead of the usual lion, serpent, badger and eagle. ‘Sev, this is the first and last Yule Ball we’ll ever attend. Are we going to waste it standing here like dead dormice? How about one dance?’ Lily pleaded. ‘Is this not enough? You know I can’t dance, Lily.’ Lily dug her hand into the pocket of her white dress robes – which contrasted perfectly with Snape’s black ones – and withdrew her wand. Before Snape could interject, she had her wand directed at his feet. ‘Tarantallegra.’ she whispered. |
31. Orchideous 'Evans!' James Potter called to her from across the Great Hall. It was not uncommon for him to do this. He was constantly trying to show-off to Lily. She clambered into the seat next to him, a questioning look on her face. 'You wanna go out with me?' James flaunted. 'Or are you still crazy about that scrawny git?' he mocked, eying a skinny boy, seated at the Slytherin table, with dark curtains of greasy hair covering his sallow face. The boy glanced up, rolled his eyes, and then buried his abnormally large nose back into his book. 'He shattered me, James. You saw what happened. But you can have what's left of me.' At this, James grinned, faced his friends and flashed his eyebrows in a 'how-cool-am-I' manner. This didn't go unnoticed by Lily. He then whipped around, and withdrew his wand. 'Orchideous' he muttered. A bunch of roses erupted from the end of his wand, which he handed to his new girlfriend. Lily smiled to herself as she helped herself to some toast. He had asked her out. She had said yes. James Potter was the most boastful, yet lovable boy in school, and he belonged to her. |
1. Accio Lily Evans stood tentatively at the base of a dusty stairwell. The only light was seeping through the windows from the streetlamps outside. “Sev, get back here. What if we get caught? What about Tuney?” Severus clearly wasn’t listening. He crept up the first few steps, wand drawn. “Accio letters,” he whispered, trying not to wake any of the muggles. “Sev, please. Why does it matter to you what Dumbledore wrote in his reply? Tuney requested to go to Hogwarts. Can we not be satisfied with that information?” she begged Lily sat down in her place in the carpeted hall and felt tears flow freely down her face. Her friendship with her sister was in jeopardy, all because her best friend wanted to scrutinise Tuney’s mail. Perhaps the day on which she spotted Severus Snape hiding behind the bushes down at the park was not such a lucky day, after all. |
