“Sirius I want some, stop hogging it!” Remus squealed as he lunged toward Sirius. It was their first Christmas at Hogwarts, and James was sharing his goodies sent from home.

“Moony you don’t want any of this nasty old chocolate, do you?” Padfoot teased with a mouth full of chocolate.

“Yessss I dooooooooooooooooooooo!” Remus said finally reaching his friend and tacking him. After a moment of wrestling around the common room Remus came up with a chocolate frog. James and Peter laughed as they watched.

Sitting up he tore into his chocolate. “dis soooo gud!” He said with a mouthful.

The Whomping Willow was a force to be recon with, unless you had a rat, stag and dog as a friend.

Stopping short of the tree’s reach they realized Peter wasn’t with them. Lupin, panic in his face, looked toward the horizon. Sirius realized time was of the essence, “I think I can get it.”

“No!” James and Remus yelled. Sirius transformed, and ran toward the knot. A branch came down on him hard before he could reach it.

“I’m here!” Peter came from the direction of the forest.

Grabbing Padfoot on the way in, they barely made it, again

Remus sulked in the corner of the common room. The fullmoon was near and he knew he would be banished to the Shrieking Shaking tomorrow. The week took so long to pass, and it was incredibly lonely. It was hard not to be somber about the topic. Few knew his problem, less understood his misery.

“Why the long face?” He recognized this to be Sirius Black’s voice. Looking up he saw his 3 friends in front of him, smirking.

“What has gotten into you all, you know what’s wrong!”

“We have a surprise for you Remus” They all transformed.

“Animagus!”

Snape always knew, and it was one more reason not to like Remus.

First day at Hogwarts as a professor Remus walked into the staff room, he found himself alone with Snape.

“Dumbledore asked me to make the potion, it’s not for you that I do it – but because he requires me to” Snape said in a loathing tone.

“Yes, I appreciate your work.” Remus smiled slyly, “Just think, you wouldn’t be able to help me if you hadn’t been turned down for the DADA position” Remus was not always quick-witted, but it did feel good to egg Snape on.

“You do not understand it’s not that I don’t want to – it’s that it’s not morally right for me to.” Remus explained he was exasperated by the entire conversation.

“But Remus, I do not care!” Tonks stomped her foot. Love was love to her and nothing more mattered.

“I wish I could, I really wish I could. I can not do that to you, I just can not” Dropping his gaze from her face he turned from her.

“Remus” Her voice was pleading, he turned to face her. With a thud she pushed him to the wall and kissed him.

Day seven was the worst. Seclusion was horrendous. The guys weren’t able to come down this week as they all had detention for the Great Hall incident. But now, because of his damn disease, he would sit for an entire week alone – and then an entire week in detention.

Sitting there alone his mind wondered and thought the most awful things. They were probably having more fun with out me. Maybe they will realize I am a burden and stop coming to visit. No one wants a werewolf for a friend. I am just a charity case.

Remus was depressed.

Hands behind his back, face staring at the floor he paced back and forth. He heard the scream and the anguish. Remus felt flush and started to sweat. Why was it taking so long?

“Almost there” He heard from behind the door.

Stopping for a moment from his pacing he checked his watch. If she didn’t hurry up they would be late.

“Honey?” he questioned.

Tonks threw the door open, “I’ll be ready to go shortly, I have not finished picking what I want to wear!”

Remus threw his hands up in the air and let out an exhausted sigh.

He wondered into Magical Menagerie. The companionship of animals can be very comforting, but he could not run the risk of endangering one. If he could have one though it would be a dog.

As he bend down to take a closer look at something called a puffskeins. What in the world is… “AHHH!!” He felt claws in his back and a loud hiss in his ear. He attempted to get his wand out, but it was no use. He was on the floor wrestling with it in hopes of keeping most of the skin on his back.

It was the next phase of the moon. Yes the prior week was exhausting, but the week after was when his body felt it. Walking up the stairs into the sleeping quarters he heard James call to him from the common room.

“Come on Moony, it would not be the same with out you.”

Speaking just loud enough for James to hear, “I just need a short nap.” His voice was begging for reprieve from the afternoon’s adventure.

“Alright, we’ll give you 2 hours”

With that Remus fell on his bed, he was asleep before his head hit the pillow.

Remus had been in the library all day studying for N.E.W.T.s. James and Sirius had been out plotting their new adventure, no doubt. Walking through the corridors he felt a chill that only January could bring. He made his way to the front doors. James and Sirius said they would met him in the courtyard around 1pm, checking his watch he realized it was 1:30pm.

Oh no, they will really get me for this, late again.

He pushed the doors open; all he saw was a ball of white fluff flying toward his face. Snowball.

“You're late again Moony!”

Remus felt 2 inches tall as he walked to the front door of his in-law’s house. Harry had just called him out for being a coward, and on his trip back home he realized the error in his ways.

He knocked on the door, being greeted by Tonks. Her belly greeted him before she did. Her face shown relief and anger.

“Tonks, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have left. I wish I had a timeturner – I’d change it so I would have never left.” His face and words begged for forgiveness.

Her face was flooded with tears, “I love you Remus.”

James and Remus stood side by side, attempting to perform an adequate Patronus. They both had tried a number of times; both were growing tired of it.

The professor called out, “Please make sure you’re thinking the happiest thoughts.”

James had been thinking about winning the cup, and decided to his thoughts to Lily.

“Expecto Patronum” He yelled. A stag leapt from the tip of his wand.

Remus was slightly miffed – usually he excelled is class, not James.

Remus concentrated very hard, on the only thing that made him smile.

“EXPECTO PATRONUM” He shouted.

The four of them walked down the corridor. James and Sirius laughing the whole way. Only two of them were guilty, the other two were bystanders.

Remus was not pleased they got caught; not to mention he had nothing do with them turning Snape upside down (though he did not stop it either). And Wormtail, he never actually did anything but watch.

Reaching the headmaster’s office, he motioned for them to sit.

“Remus, I put you in charge of these three. Could you not handle that?” Headmaster raised a brow and a smirk.

“Headmaster they are uncontrollable” Remus smirked back.

Remus struggled with asking a girl to the Yule Ball. He was shy, but he knew not bringing a date would be far worse. Sirius and James would not let him hear the end of it. Even Peter had a date.

He walked up to a blonde 5th year, “You have a date to the Ball?”

He shifted his weight.

“Maybe. Why you asking?” She retorted coyly. She was making this more awkward than it needed to be.

“I thought I’d do you a favor and let you attend the Ball with a Marauder.” He said with an eyebrow raised.

“Come on Moony, what’s in a Babbling Beverage?” James requested.

Moony sighed and shook his head.

“Remus, tell me what’s Murtlap Essence does?” Sirius whined.

Lupin looked at them with exasperation.

Peter stayed quiet, waiting for the answers – not bold enough to ask for himself.

James piped up again, “MOONY! Tell me the answer! I have Quidditch practice.”

Remus had had it; he rose from his seat.

“I’M.TIRED.OF.YOU.THREE.MOOCHING.OFF.ME!”

“Remus, is it near your time of the month?” Sirius and James laughed hysterically.

Remus was in the common room near the fire. It was late. It was studying for his O.W.L.’s. Everyone else had long since gone to bed.

Remus heard someone shuffling around, and descending down the stairs.

He peered into the darkness; he made out a short plump shape. “Peter?”

“Mom! I don’t want to wear the plaid suit! I wore in the last family picture!”

Remus stifled his laughter as Wormtail moan about some awful plaid suit.

Remus took out parchment and the next day owl’ed Mrs. Pettigrew.

3 days later.

“Oh Peter, Your mother has sent something to you”

Harry walked into the classroom. Professor Lupin was at his desk, not aware anyone was in the room.

“Excuse me, professor?”

Startled Lupin looked up, “Ah, yes. Harry. What can I do for you?”

“I was hoping to get some advice,” He paused and walked closer to the Professor. “I know this sounds stupid but…”

Lupin didn’t have much patience, the boggart issued had just happen earlier that day. The kids would certainty be on to him.

“Yes Harry out with it.”

Scratching the back of his head he finished, “I was hoping you could teach me how to yodel.”

Remus was in the library, looking for something to study. The others had gone to tease some little first year. He looked for something he hadn’t read yet. Scanning the shelves he stumbled upon something. It was a large book, dusty and old.

He didn’t notice the name of the book; instead he settled into a chair and opened it up.

The book offered loads of new words to add to his vocabulary.

After 15 pages he heard some snickers coming from beside him, he turned to see what they were laughing at.

“Oh my gawd! He’s reading the dictionary!”

Remus walked into the Great Hall for the last time as a student. It was his 7th year, the end of year feast. The smells from the feast were amazing. He nearly had made it to his seat when he felt something hot hit his face. Stopping in his tracks and cleaning his face he quickly realized it was Prongs with mashed potatoes.

“JAMES!” Remus laughed. He reached on to a first year’s plate and scooped up her pudding and tossing it, hitting James square in the face.

With in seconds food was flying everywhere.

The headmaster couldn’t be heard.

Moony and Padfoot sat in the dark damp kitchen. Waiting, for what they were not sure. They were just doing what was asked of them.

James soon appeared with Lily in the doorway. She smiled, and he beamed.

Sirius grew frustrated “What is going on?”

“Lily should I tell them?” James couldn’t hold it any longer.

“No dear, just show them this.”

She handed him two small items. He nodded and walked over the long.

James placed two small blue socks on the table.

Moony stood and hugged his friend, “Congratulations!”

Sirius looked confused, “Moony, you congratulated him on socks?”

“Sir?”

Lupin jumped, and turned. There was a house elf standing next to him.

“Umm, err can I help you?” He wasn’t expecting an elf to be in the classrooms.

“Well, sir that question is for you. Would you like me to get you anything?”

Lupin looked around to make sure this wasn’t a joke.

“Don’t worry sir; it’s a perk of being a teacher. We pop up between classes to see if you need anything.”

“Oh, well then. Umm, cookies and milk? Please?”

You walked into the warm living room. A smiled widened across your face. The sight of them playing on the floor is what you need at the end of a long day.

“Remus you’re home!” She jumped up, threw her arms around your neck. Tonks was beautiful and ever since Teddy was born her hair had been blue for her baby boy. She could not help it.

She scooped up the slobber covered kid and placed him in your arms. He was perfect in every way.

She taught you how to love, but he taught you how to love unconditionally.

Professor Lupin threw his head back in laughter, “And then what happen?”

“Well, the Whomping Willow broke our fall, that wasn’t good either.” Harry smiled.

Remus popped another piece of chocolate in his mouth. They were taking a break from practicing ‘Expecto Patronus’.

Harry continued, “The Ford Anglia got banged up, then took off for the forest.”

Remus straightened up a bit, “How did Mr. Weasley take it?”

Harry shook his head, “I’m not sure, but Mrs. Weasley wanted to murder Ron”

Remus peered out the window, and could have sworn he saw the car creeping along the forest’s edge.

“Can’t we move quicker?” James anxiously awaited sweets from the house elves.

Remus looked closely at the map, “Guys” Remus x-tinguished his wand. Remus saw Dumbledore on the map, moving their way.

James and Sirius, realizing something was wrong followed suit.

Remus whispered, “PETER! Put it out!”

Peter looked confused, as usual.

Remus grapped Peter’s wand and x- tinguished it himself.

Peter turned to Remus, “Why did you do that?”

“Because he was trying to keep me from seeing you”
