griffin's 100 drabbles for Penelope Wright - Sa 13+ Banner by sweetpinkpixie Hi, I'm griffin, and these are my drabbles for my character Penelope Wright. Penelope is the first charrie that I ever played on SS and during her time at Hogwarts she was Ravenclaw prefect and Head Girl. To check out my drabbles for my current school charrie, Penelope's little sister Isa, click here. Disclaimer: The Harry Potter characters and universe belong to J.K. Rowling. Prompts: 1. Herbology 2. Muggle Studies 3. Transfiguration 4. Ancient Runes 18. Whomping Willow Penelope was under the whomping willow, looking for animal prints in the snow. What few prints that were there were quickly being covered by snow. ”I think I found something!” Snow fell from the whomping willow, covering the prints she had been looking at. Looking up, she realized, too late, that a branch was coming down upon her. Penelope was knocked down into the snow. Snow covered the first year. She was going to freeze to death. Arista uncovered Penelope and grabbed her out of the snow. Never again would she go that close to the whomping willow. Note: Arista Royal belongs to Luna_Midnight |
78. Author’s choice- Undetectable Extension Charm This drabble is dedicated to sweetpinkpixie Penelope really wanted to test a few questions that she had about the undetectable extension charm. Pointing her wand inside one of Flamsteed’s shoes, she said, “Magnus Centrum.” Now for the other shoe. “Magnus Centrum.” Penelope had been practicing the undetectable extension charm. The concept of the charm intrigued her. She was curious as to how big it could make things. What happened if you extended the insides of shoes? How big was the space inside? She was conducting an experiment with the extension charm, and Flamsteed was going to find out when he tried to put on his shoes. Note:Airey Flamsteed belongs to sweetpinkpixie |
19. Wand Hazel wands are rarely matched to children, the wandmaker had said. Hazel wands absorbed negative emotional energy if you weren’t careful with them, and could discharge the energy at random. Penelope had no problems with the wand until her second year at Hogwarts. She didn’t really know what it meant for the wand to discharge energy until smoke started to come out of her pocket. There was nothing wrong with the wand, she had merely let it absorb too much negative energy. She would need to get a special wand rub that would stop it from absorbing negative emotional energy. |
25. Sorting Hat They were going to be sorted into one of four houses by a hat? How did it work? Was it alive? How did it figure out which house you should be in? Did it read your mind? How did that work? Why was everyone sorted into houses? Was it a good idea to sort people based on their personality traits, if that was what the hat looked at? Hmm, you’re a curious one… The hat talked! A talking hat! How did the hat talk? It was a mind reading, talking hat! She wanted to know how the hat worked! ”Ravenclaw!” |
96. Socks Several of Penelope’s socks had mysteriously disappeared. Why was she missing so many socks? Who would take socks? Orion? Someone else’s cat? The dog? Penelope looked under her bed. Wow did this place need cleaning. When was the last time she cleaned here? Reaching under the bed, Penelope pulled out a hairbrush and a stack of books. Eeew, there was a giant cat fur, hair, and dust bunny ball under here! Oh, so that was where that lint roller last seen stuck to her cat had gone… There it was, a pile of mismatched socks with holes in them. ”Orion!” |
89. Past It had happened when Penelope was 9 years old, not long before her mother had decided that the family should move to England. Following an incident involving accidental magic, Penelope’s best friend in muggle school had stopped talking to Penelope. Not being the most social of girls, Penelope didn’t really have any other friends. Anyone who stopped being your friend when they found out that you were a witch wasn’t a real friend. Soon after this happened, Penelope moved to England, never to see or speak to her former friend again. She didn’t make many new friends after losing one. |
37. Animagus There were a lot of cats around the house. Some were strays that had adopted the family for the food, some had been adopted by the family, and one or two had come from the magical menagerie in Diagon Alley. This particular cat, however, behaved nothing like the other cats. It seemed as though it was always watching her. She had seen the differences between animagi and normal cats in divination class. Penelope had always known this cat. It was always here when her mother wasn’t, but never there when mum was here. Her mum was an animagus, a cat. |
27. Owl 27. Owl This drabble is dedicated to Nordic Witch. An owl swooped in the open window and landed on the kitchen table. ”Penelope! Owl for you,” her mother said. Penelope walked over to where the owl had dropped the letter. Probably just the supply list for sixth years. Picking up the envelope she found it to be slightly heavier than normal. Upon opening it she discovered that it was not just a supply list, but was in fact a letter from Mr. Kitridge that said she had been chosen to be a prefect as well as her new prefect badge. ”Mum! Dad! I’ve been chosen to be a prefect!” |
5. Astronomy 5. Astronomy This drabble is dedicated to sweetpinkpixie There was something about Ravenclaw girls and Professor Flamsteed’s astronomy lessons. It was always the Ravenclaw girls. Penelope’s first lesson with Flamsteed had resulted in her crying in a bubble due to her claustrophobia. Second year she had been hit in the face with a window and got a nosebleed. One time she had fallen asleep on the floor of the classroom after returning from a field trip and Flamsteed had levitated her back to the common room. Even after Penelope finished that phase, new young Ravenclaw girls continued the tradition of strange things happening to them in Flamsteed’s lessons. Note: Professor Airey Flamsteed belongs to sweetpinkpixie |
99. Trunk 99. Trunk Trunk open on her bedroom floor and piles of clothes and books everywhere, Penelope looked over her lists of required school supplies and other things that needed to be packed. She had unpacked her trunk and was repacking to triple check that she had everything she needed for her final year at Hogwarts. Back into the trunk went clothes, shoes, school supplies, toiletries, books, and the other items on her list. Everything was checked off on the list to ensure that nothing was forgotten. It was absolutely essential that she had what she needed for several months away at school. |
32. Common Room 32. Common Room It was late at night when Penelope snuck down into the common room, fuzzy blue blanket wrapped around her shoulders, bringing her journal with her. Sitting on one of the couches by the fire, Penelope opened her journal and started writing in it. Onto the page went all of her private thoughts no one would ever find out about. Tearing the page from her journal, Penelope crumpled the page into a ball and threw it in the fire. She sat there and watched as it burned, fire licking the edges of the paper as it blackened and turned to ashes. |
23. Telescope Sitting in the observatory at night looking at the stars and the moon was one of Penelope’s favorite things to do to destress. It allowed her to sit and think with very little chance of being disturbed. Her telescope was focused on the big, bright full moon. The Head Girl was completely transfixed by the beauty of the moon. Staring at the silvery white sphere she thought of the influence that the moon had over the tides on Earth. It was amazing to think that something so far away was so important to life on Earth and so mesmerizingly beautiful. |
38. Patronus She was so close to getting a corporeal patronus. Her past few attempts, the silvery mist had started to take shape, but it was still a blob. Penelope focused on her happiest memory, something which she would never reveal to anyone. Constant vigilance and all that. Raising her wand, Penelope tried the spell one more time. “Expecto Patronum!” A silvery golden eagle shot out of her wand. Look, a real corporeal, animal shaped patronus! She had done it! The eagle had an impressive wingspan of 6 feet, and it was circling around the DADA practice arena. It was so beautiful. |
64. Nap 64. Nap Timeline: Seventh year, Hogwarts Head Girl Penelope flopped onto one of the sofas in the prefects’ lounge. She had homework to do, but she was going to nap for a few minutes to recharge before doing anything. It seemed like every day there was some emergency that required the Head Girl’s attention. Brainwashed students, nifflers destroying the dorms, students sneaking into the chamber of secrets, the usual Hogwarts craziness. Curled up in a ball on the sofa, Penelope closed her eyes. Today had so far been exhausting and she didn’t want to deal with people right now. The prefects’ lounge gave her a much needed break. |
13. Quidditch 13. Quidditch Her entire seven years of Hogwarts there had been no quidditch. Something about a mysterious threat that she was pretty sure the school never properly looked into or figured out. That was fine, quidditch involved too many things flying by your face and dangerous bludgers out to get you and a high risk of injury. Penelope Wright was in no way interested in playing quidditch. Ever. That didn’t stop her from being proud of her little sister when Isa was selected as Hufflepuff quidditch captain when Hogwarts reinstated quidditch. That was, until Isa wanted to practice throwing quaffles at her. |
