Ollie was running around the room trying his best to catch the little creature that stole all of his coins from his robes.
“Get back here with my money!”
As the niffler jumped onto the bed, Oliver flopped down onto it, his hands clasping onto whatever they could grab. Sadly, when he opened his eyes, all he saw was his hands full of comforter.
“If I wanted to chase you around, I would’ve asked!”
And then he spotted the niffler on the next bed, and Oliver was pretty sure the creature was laughing at him. What an evil little thing. | |

"How have you already outgrown your robes??"
Oliver and his mum sped down the streets of Diagon Alley, trying to get to Madame Malkin's before it closed.
"I swear I tried them on in July and they were just fine," Ollie said, sighing. He felt like he was growing an inch every two weeks. "Maybe I'm half giant!"
She stopped walking and just stared at him in disbelief. "Oliver, please. That’s impossible."
He sighed and continued walking. “A giant dad would be better than my actual dad.”
His mum caught up with him wrapped an arm around him. “I know.”

There was so much snow on the ground, but he had made plans with Esme and nothing would stop them. Which was why they were now walking to Hogsmeade in the freezing cold…
“Maybe we should’ve changed our plans,” he said.
Esme smiled her beautiful smile despite how cold she probably was. “I’m just happy we’re spending time together!”
Ollie nodded in agreement. He had steered clear of most people this year but she was the one exception. For the first time since his break-up with Kali, he could feel himself opening up to maybe having feelings for someone new.

If Timmy was so good at potions, why wasn't he? They were twins! Sure, they had different personalities, but they'd shared the same womb, so why wasn't he as good as her?
He glanced over at her from across the classroom and watched what she was doing. Ollie knew better than to compare himself to her but it was something he'd been doing his entire life.
“I hate this class,” he mumbled.
Giving up, Ollie picked up his things and stormed out of the class. He was going to fail the assignment anyway, what was the point in sticking around? | |

“Let me see! I WANNA SEE.”
Oliver was jumping up and down next to his mum and Timmy while his twin got a chance to look up at the sky through a brand new telescope. She hadn’t been looking through it long, but minutes felt like hours to him.
“Ollie, it’s so cooool! Look at that big one!”
Timmy was beaming and it only made Oliver even more impatient. Luckily, his sister stepped away from the telescope so he could take his turn.
“You’re going to love it,” she said.
He smiled and placed his eye to the lens.

42. Portraits
Oliver had been angrily walking around the castle for half an hour after his fight with Cordy. How could they just not be friends anymore???
Eventually he decided he needed ice cream to feel a tiny bit better. Distracted by his thoughts and mumbling to himself, he tripped down a few steps when the staircases started moving.
On his way down, he yelled, “HOW DID I MESS EVERYTHING UP?!”
Once things stopped moving, Oliver could hear a few voices from above his head telling him everything was going to be okay.

11. History of Magic
Dragging himself over to History of Magic on the first day of classes was quite possibly the hardest thing he’d had to do in his sixteen years of life. He wasn’t sure if he could handle another year of waking up early for history.
However, upon entering the classroom, he had a feeling things were going to be different this year. Standing at the front of the room was a very pretty woman who seemed to be Professor Newton and in front of her was a plate of treats.

He had been searching the Great Hall for Brian at lunch and after walking up and down each table, Oliver finally realized he knew exactly where his friend would be. The Hufflepuff was a busy guy, but if he wasn’t eating, he was probably napping somewhere.
Ollie made his way over to the library and searched the little cubicle desks that lined the window, apologizing to everyone who wasn’t Brian.
Eventually, at the end of the row, Ollie found him sleeping with his cheek to the desk and a little bit of drool spilling out of his mouth.

Kali walked out of the fireplace and looked around the living room at the Finch’s house. Almost immediately she made a face when she smelled...smoke?!
“Ollie! Where are you?”
Oliver ran out of the kitchen with a bowl of water in his hands. “HELP.” His eyes were wide as he ran back into the kitchen to try to put out a small but growing fire.
“GO GET JON!!!”
His mum had told him before she left to have Jon supervise his cooking, but Oliver thought she was just being overprotective.
He didn’t even know where the fire extinguisher was...

Oliver was angry all the time. The whole thing started when his dad abandoned the family. Then that guy Jon was suddenly in their lives. He just wanted everything to go back to normal. Actually, he didn’t need his dad back that much, he just wanted Jon gone. Then he could live happily with Tim and his mum and they’d never have to worry about people leaving. His mum could get a pet for a companion. Jon just needed to leave now before everyone got hurt all over again, then he could be happy again. Why didn’t anyone understand that? | |

Walking into the classroom, he set his things down and looked around.
“Hello, I’m your professor, Oliver Finch, and welcome to your first ever Charms class.”
Ollie smiled at all of the 11-year-olds in the classroom and tried his best to keep from getting emotional. He was finally doing something with his life.
“You may not know this, but this is actually my first year teaching, so bare with me. If I’m completely terrible, I promise I’ll quit at the end of the year.”

When he first spotted her, he had no idea who she was. He might have only been eleven, but she was almost thirteen and even he could tell she was extremely pretty. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think she was a veela.
As Oliver walked closer to the girl, he was able to get a better looked at her face and while she stilled looked beautiful as ever, he realized he actually knew this girl. He stopped in his tracks and gaped.

Ollie had searched his entire room, and now he was searching his sister’s room for his book. How did something like that just disappear? Winter break would be over soon and he couldn’t go back to school without it.

He walked down to the first floor of the house, expecting to see Tim or Jon or even his mum around but...no one was there…
“Hello?”
Oliver walked out to the backyard and was immediately hit by a snowball.

She slapped him! He did what she told him to do and she slapped him. The girl was crazy.
Cordy and Kali had both told him to choose who he wanted and be honest with them. He chose Kali. He was honest with Cordy. And then she slapped him.
If the slap was good for anything, it helped him realize how much of a liar Cordy was. She said she’d stay his friend and now they would never talk again.
Oliver was never going to let someone misuse his trust again. Kali was the only person he could trust now. | |

Oliver had tried his hardest and every year he just barely passed Ancient Runes. Honestly, he wasn’t even sure how he managed that. He’d asked for help from Kali but no matter how she explained it, he just couldn’t get it. He hoped Brian could explain a little better.
“I can’t do it.” Ollie sighed and pushed his book away.
Brian yawned and looked over Ollie’s notes. “‘I <3 Kali’… You’re not even trying.”
“Not trying? I’ve been trying since I was eleven!”
All he wanted was to take only Charms classes and graduate. Was that too much to ask?

Turning the key very slowly, Oliver jumped a little when the motorcycle jumped to life.
Jon laughed and patted his back. “You’re doing okay, don’t worry. This is just so you get used to the way it feels.”
Ollie offered his stepdad a small smile and tried not to die of embarrassment. “Yeah, of course.”
That didn’t keep the boy from being extremely nervous, and it didn’t help that his mum had no idea they were doing this now. Jon began telling Oliver the next instruction when they heard the garage door open.

Little Ollie made his way down to the dungeons after “studying” in the library for hours. He walked down the corridor and looked around, realizing just how cold and slimy everything was down there. Why did they even let students in the dungeons? It was creepy.
He picked up his pace and just as he was reaching the door to the common room, he heard a loud BANG and jumped about a foot in the air.
Then he heard a few people laughing hysterically and realized it was just older kids playing a prank on him. He hated older kids. | |

Never once did he think this would happen to him. Ollie felt like his whole world had completely fallen apart. Kali didn’t even have a good reason to dump him!
The whole thing had happened a couple of months ago, and he still couldn’t be around people for too long. He often felt himself getting angry and sad and so he decided it was best if he just...stayed away from people. He knew he had friends, but he didn’t want to make any of them deal with him right now. He was depressed and it was all Kali’s fault. | |

Oliver wasn’t sure what was wrong, but something wasn’t sitting right with his stomach. He hadn’t had much to eat on the train, but he felt like he was going to be sick.
He waited impatiently for the feast to begin. He thought maybe if he got actual food into him, he’d feel better. But as soon as the food appeared, he took a bite of a turkey leg and nearly gagged at the acerbic taste. Ollie quickly got up and ran off to the bathroom. Stomach bug on the first day was not a good start to the year.

Every year, Ollie and Timmy got matching pajamas for Christmas from their grandparents, and he loved it. It was a tradition he never wanted to end. If he had to match with Timmy on any other day, he’d definitely throw a fit but this was Christmas.
Oliver ran out of his room and waited in the hallway for his sister.
“Are you ready???”
He stood in his Superman stance and waited patiently. Not long after, Timila ran out and beamed.
“Ready!”
“Twin superheroes to the rescue!”
The twins ran off downstairs to find their parents and begin the Christmas celebrations. | |

Oliver peeked under his bed and in his closet for the Bowtruckle Timmy gave him a week ago, but Louth was nowhere to be seen.
“I know we played hide-and-seek the other day, but that was different! I need you to come out now, please.”
He flipped over every surface in his room with no luck. Finally he stopped and looked around the room, trying to figure out where Louth could be when he spotted a green leaf slip down into his cauldron. Ollie slowly made his way over there and looked into the pot.

After a really hard school year, being back at home with Timila and his younger siblings really made him feel better, Oliver was actually almost cheerful. He wished he never had to go back to Hogwarts.
“Okay, Barb, hide behind that chair with the water balloon and I’ll go get Tim. Got it?”
“Got it!”
Little Barb happily carried a water balloon with both hands and went to hide. About five minutes later, Oliver came back out with Timmy.
“Tim, I swe-”
A large orange water balloon hit Ollie’s leg and was immediately followed by giggling.

After looking for the right gift for days, Oliver gave in and bought his step dad socks. He knew that wasn’t the best birthday gift, but at least they had dragons on them, right? Right.
He plopped down on the couch next to Timila with his present and eyed the gift she was holding.
“You got him something amazing...”
Timmy smiled and nodded. “Of course I did.” Then she looked down at his present and raised her eyebrows. “You didn’t get socks, did you?”

29. Pensieve Ollie was at his desk writing his letter to his parents for over an hour. He just wasn’t sure what to say. He was feeling so horrible about everything, and all he wanted was to come home. He considered asking them if they had a pensieve at home so he could remove all of the memories of her. But he didn’t want to worry them either.

Looking over at his little sister, Barb, Ollie couldn’t help but smile. She was standing there holding his Hogwarts, A History book and it really was one of the cutest things he’d ever seen.
“Is that my book, Barb?”
She nodded and climbed up onto his bed with the book, so he sat up and pulled her closer to him and kissed the top of her head.
“I read, Ollie. LOOK.”
While he was at Hogwarts, Barb was home growing up. If it was up to Oliver, he’d stay home to hang out with his siblings forever. | |
