#95 – Snowball

The snowball hit Harry hard on the back of his neck and he turned around. Ron was standing behind him, laughing.

“I’ll get you back!”, Harry shouted, bent down and gathered some snow. When he looked up he saw that Ron was also getting ready for another attack. “I’ll get you, Weasley!”, he laughed and threw the snowball, but it missed its target, and Ron laughed even harder.

Ron’s next ball hit Harry on his right leg and he fell down into the snow. When Ron came to help him up Harry turned round and his ball hit Ron’s face.

#36 - Muggle

Harry Potter, aged 9 and three quarters, was once again being forced to clean off the table after his muggle relatives, the Dursleys, had eaten their meal. He was slowly wiping off the last plate, when his uncle stormed into the room.

“Hurry up, boy!”, he bellowed. “You need to tidy up Dudley’s room and you also …”

Harry didn’t listen anymore. No matter how hard he worked and how quiet he was, his uncle was always nagging him. He surpressed a frustrated sigh.

Why couldn’t he live with his parents and have a normal life like every other kid?

#44 - Ford Anglia

I strolled out into the Weasleys' garden, toast still in one hand, trying to escape the bickering of Ron and the twins. I never thought I'd miss the silent breakfast at the Dursleys'.

I rounded the corner of the house and then found myself in front of Mr. Weasley's Ford Anglia. Quickly I stuffed the toast into my mouth and made my way over.

Carefully I opened the door and got in. The seat was soft and the steering wheel cool under my fingers. I would have loved to drive it, but it would cause more trouble. I smiled sadly.

#100 - Homework

"Come on, Hermione, let me see what you wrote," I begged. Well, maybe I didn't really beg, but I made it sound like I did.

Hermione looked up from her essay and said disdainfully, "If you listened to Professor Binns just once you wouldn't have to copy my homework every week."

I decided to try a new strategy. "Yes, I know. And you are the best and most awesome person in the world and I couldn't live without your help. Please help me once more."

She smiled and passed me her notes. "You know I can't resist that puppy look."

#38 - Patronus

Harry wanted to throw down his wand in frustration after the spell didn't work for the thirty-fourth time in a row.

He breathed deeply a few times, like Professor Lupin had instructed during their last lesson, and raised his wand again. A good memory was everything he needed. He let his thoughts wander through the past and suddenly he realized why he hadn't yet successfully produced a Patronus.

"I just don't have enough good memories," he said to himself and let his wand drop with a clatter.

He sunk down to the floor and silent tears started rolling down his face.

#21 - Veela

What does it feel like to see the perfect girl? That's something most men will never know. Finding someone who's perfect is almost impossible. But living at Hogwarts I've discovered that everything is possible.

There's this girl I think about while walking along the corridor. Fleur Delacour, partly Veela, French - perfect. I don't know why she can mess with my head like that, but I'm not half as bad as Ron.

I round a corner and nearly bump into someone, but I don't fall. "Sorry," I mumble.

"It eez no problem," I hear a soft voice answer. It's Fleur. Perfect.

#29 - Pensieve

I was nervously sitting on my chair, the stone basin resting on the table in front of me. The Pensieve had been hidden deep within the rooms of 12, Grimmauld Place.

What would it have in store for me?

Would there be good or bad memories in there?

I couldn't even be sure who had owned it. Many people have lived in this house during the last few years of the war.

Coming to a decision I plunged my head into the surface and fell into a ceremony. I was just in time to hear Lily Evans say, "I do."

#42 - Portraits

At night the halls of Hogwarts are almost always quiet and empty - which is a good thing when you're just returning from a late visit at Hagrid's, like I am.

I quietly round the next corner and come to a sudden halt. I hear whispering voices. Who could it be?

"No, no - I'll bet you the Wigtown Wanderers will win the Championship this year," a raspy voice says.

"Them? No chance. Puddlemere United will ..." The soft voice is interrupted by a sigh.

I can't see anybody and surpress a laugh. The portraits don't know anything about Quidditch.

#6 - Divination

"Are you in the beyond, my dear?", Professor Trelawney's voice asks right next to my ear. She startles me out of my pleasent drowsiness. "Have you broadened your mind so you can look into the future in your crystal ball?"

I quickly pretend that I'm not tired at all, but stifling a yawn might look suspicious.

"I'm sure I'm in the beyond," I answer. "In the crystal ball I can see that the lesson will end in ten minutes - and this end will be signalled by the ringing bell."

"You should be more cafeful. Something dark comes towards you."

#97 - Dictionary

The cupboard under the stairs is as dark and gloomy as it always is. It's early evening, the Dursleys are just having dinner, but I'm in here because I'm being punished.

Why? I don't know.

My only entertainment is an old dictionary that I found ages ago somewhere in the living room. I like learning new words.

Crinoline. I'm glad I'm not a girl, I wouldn't want to wear that.

Noseape. Bah, what a stupid name for an animal.

Stultification. That's what you call what Dudley's currently going through.

Wizard. Why would something that doesn't exist be in a dictionary?

#11 - History of Magic

I stare at the blank page in front of me, twirling my quill between my fingers. A yawn escapes my lips. I look at my watch for twenty-ninth time.

Sigh.

No time has gone by.

"Hey, Harry," Ron hisses next to me.

"What?," I hiss back, although there's no need. Professor Binns wouldn't notice a thunderstorm breaking out in his classroom.

"Bet you can't throw a paper aeroplane through his head," Ron whispers. I accept the bet, take some parchment and make an aeroplane.

I aim, I shoot - and the plane sails through his right leg. Binns doesn't notice.

#84 - Angry

Vernon Dursley is an unpleasant man - I should know. He can be grumpy, snappish and of course angry. He likes being angry at me.

Only a little incident happened. I almost dropped a plate after dinner. Something that happens quite often. For him that was a reason to shout at me.

"What were you thinking? You could have hurt someone!" How could I hurt someone with a plate? "You need to be ..."

I never heard what I needed to be.

Suddenly he jumped away from me as if he'd recieved an electric shock. Just what I'd hoped for.

#59 - Ignore

"Hey, Potty! Everything alright with that ugly scar of yours?", a voice said behind me. Malfoy.

I sighed. Since I beat him at Quidditch three weeks ago he'd been constantly trying to provoke me - but I also constantly ignored him. Though this was the 412th time he made a comment about my scar and I was really tempted to hex him now.

But suddenly I thought of something else. I turned around.

"And how's that arm of yours doing, Malfoy? You should take good care of it. I heard Hagrid will bring Buckbeak to our next lesson."

Malfoy paled.

#7 - Care of Magical Creatures

There can never be a quiet lesson with Hagrid being the teacher - and Neville being the student. Hermione, Ron and I were sharing a table with him one day when we were studying Clabberts.

"Ouch!" Neville suddenly exclaimed and I had to surpress a laugh.

The Clabbert was hanging from his left hand and Neville was doing a dance that reminded me strangely of someone trying to conjure rain in an old muggle movie. Next to me, Ron was laughing loud and Hermione gave him a dark look.

"Shall we help him?"

"Nah, he's doing fine on his own."

#9 - Defense Against the Dark Arts

"... will be no need to talk."

I never thought that a lesson could be more boring than History of Magic, but that was before I met Umbridge. The only good about her lessons was that you could stare off into space or (as Ron and I did) play Hangman in the last row.

"Mabe N?" Ron guessed.

"Nope," I muttered. The man was almost hanging.

"What about ... P?"

"No."

"Okay, maybe a hint?" I shook my head. "Alright, I don't know."

I wrote down the solution, along with a little note.

Imagine Umbridge in a bikini and ...

#26 - Quill

I put the quill back onto the table, thinking hard. Quite a few crumpled up sheets of parchment are lying on the floor already.

What do you write in your first letter to someone whom you should've known your whole life?

Hello. No, that sounded too formal. Another sheet is crumpled up and lands on the floor.

Hi. The sheet lands on the floor. Sounds too young for a thirteen year old.

Dear Sirius. Nope, too personal.

I end up writing no introduction at all. No nice words for my newly found godfather. I'm currently here at the Dursleys' ...

#75 - Yodel

What's the best thing for you after a long and exhausting day? A cool shower.

It's very diffictult to get a long shower when you're sharing a bathroom with tons of other people. So I had to skip dinner to get some time alone.

As the hot water was running down my back I remembered the good times of that day... Malfoy sidestepping Ron's curse, only to run into mine... the wonderful Quidditch training in the morning... Neville succeeding in doing the Accio Charm ...

Suddenly my stomach started rumbling and yodelling a strange melody. Skipping dinner isn't such a bright idea.

#28 - Timeturner

If I had a Timeturner - what would I want to change?

You might think it'd be obvious.

Save my parents. Save Dumbledore. Save Sirius. Bring back the people I loved.

Go back further and prevent Riddle's birth. Prevent the war and save so many people.

Maybe I could go to the future to see if all this fighting will do any good. Find out if I can win this war.

Do you know what I would really do?

I would only change one little detail in the past, that could've changed it all. I would prevent Pettigrew becoming an Animagus.

#49 - Yule Ball

Girls are strange. I know it. I'm sure. All of them.

The Yule Ball is coming nearer and some of the most stupid girls have asked me out - just not the one I want to go with. She always hangs around with her bunch of giggling friends.

"Hey, Harry! Wait!" I turn around. A girl I hardly know runs towards me. I'd guess third year, Hufflepuff, small, short dark hair, little eyes. I sigh. "Harry, I'm sure you're going to the Ball and maybe you'd like a charming girl at your side?"

Cho walks by. A charming girl, indeed.

78 - author's choice: Choir

"Hey, Harry!", someone behind me shouts and I turn around. Of course it's Colin and Dennis Creevey, who are obviously always stalking me. I stop so they can catch up with me.

"Harry, have you already heard ..."

"... that our choir is looking for new members?"

These two seriously sound like the Weasley twins sometimes.

"Professor Flitwick thought that maybe you'd like to join, so you can relax with ..."

I decide to interrupt. "Look, guys, I'm really sorry, but ... Quidditch training is at the same time."

They look disappointed. I hurry away from them before they think of rescheduling their practice.
