Drabble 1: extinguished
An unwanted surprise.
He gently laid the napping babe on the cold, hard pavement, the normal twinkle gone from his eyes as he placed the note in the bundle. He stood up, watching the babe sleep peacefully for a minute before turning back to the others, who stood silently, waiting. With a sigh, Professor Dumbledore turned the extinguished lights on.
"Noooooo!!!"
Everyone on Privet Drive heard the ear-piercing scream from the resident of #4 as she opened the door, and saw her surprise waiting for her. With shaking hands, Petunia picked up the babe, who was now awake and closed the door, horrified. **I'm starting from book 1 and going all through the books, adding little stories here and there** | |

Vernon stopped walking, on his way to the living room to read the newspaper before retiring when he heard the voice. It had sounded like Harry but that was nearly impossible, he was at that dreaded place. There was no way that he could be there right now talking about things he couldn’t comprehend.
“What’s a House-elf?” He muttered to himself as he scratched his head.
Behind him he heard snickering. Turning he saw nothing.
“Ooookay…” he said frowning before entering the living room and sitting down on his chair and opening the paper and instantly forgetting.

They all sat around the table, pictures moving in front of them, but without any help. It had been awhile since Harry had visited, often finding that looking at the images on the old pieces of hard parchment were sufficient. Petunia picked up a small, brown-looking picture, depicting Harry sitting on a stool and holding up a weird looking hat.
“The Sorting Hat. Lily told me about it before…” she murmured softly to herself, not remembering they were with her.
Dudley and Vernon didn’t say anything; they just looked on morosely knowing this was hard enough for her.
Times changed.

Four o’clock in the morning and Vernon woke up by the incessant hooting of that owl. He had told Harry numerous of times to keep that bird quiet, but no, did he listen? Grumbling he got up, tossing the blankets over Petunia and got up, stomping his feet as he made his way towards the closed door with the cat door on it. Unlocking all the locks he threw open the door…
Only to find the bed empty, the cage gone and a tape recorder on playback.
“HARRY POTTER!” He screeched before remembering the lad was at that strange school.

Second Person Challenge
You stand there, watching the sleeping baby in the old antique crib pucker his lips and you have to wonder just how lucky you to see so much of your sister in the small face. You never imagined that there would be a moment when you were suddenly thrown into the world of diapers and two a.m feedings.
As the sleeping babe turns slightly a loud obnoxious voice coming from your beloved husband interrupts your musings. Sighing, you turn and gently place a kiss on the dark black curls seeing the scar. Turning you walk towards the door and smile.

“Why me?” He grumbled, trying to fix his bow-tie.
“Because, even after everything that you put him through, he needs you right now Mr. Vernon.” Hermione’s soft voice replied as she ducked her head in, her eyes wary.
Vernon blinked, face teeming with rage before it smoothed out. “Everything I put him through? I…” he stopped, his eyes void of emotions.
“Mr. Dursley, please. This is his wedding, he wants you there.” Hermione said, her hand reaching out until she stopped hesitating.
Vernon dropped his hands as he sighed, his eyes closing. Nodding, he turned, his eyes fearful.

They were finally home; the thought of being away for so long riddled Vernon’s mind as he looked out the Ministry car window, watching as memories flitted past his eyes.
The fight.
The owls.
At that last thought his eyes shot open, half expecting to see hundreds of owls. There were none, just the quaint curtains and green lush grass of home.
“Are you sure you don’t want a timeturner Sir?” The official asked.
He turned his head, smiling. “No.”
Vernon wouldn’t change a thing.
Well almost.

Harry placed the ornate bowl on the table, his green eyes soft under his glasses as he looked at Petunia. She scoffed, turning her head at anything magical, or even remotely so.
“Aunt Petunia please.” The pensive glowed eerily bright in the dim light of the lone candle on the mantle. Taking a small vial out of his pocket, he slowly dropped its contents into the pensive. “Watch.” he murmured low now, his voice no longer gravelly and unsure.
In an instant an image of Lily Potter appeared and Petunia instantly teared up. “Lily” she whispered, her voice wavering slightly.

Cobwebs fluttered past his face as Dudley entered the cupboard under the stairs, his lean frame fitting easily. The smell of dungeon-like proportions hit him and he sneezed before turning the light on. Even after ten years everything looked the same; the small bed, desk and trunk covered in a dusting of dirt.
Picking up the round glasses, a small crack in the right lens Dudley sighed.
“Hope you’re happy Harry. Have a nice life.”
Looking around once more, Dudley turned, his eyes falling onto his wife of three years. Smiling he walked out, closing the door behind him.

“Bet you can’t do it Vernon.”
“Petunia, why on earth would I want too? Pass the potatoes.”
Petunia smirked, a glint in her eye as she handed the bowl over, tilting her head in Dudleys direction as he gurgled happily. “Because Vernon he’s your son, and you love him.” she replied smiling a winning smile.
“And?” Vernon huffed, his face growing redder by the second.
“Oh Vernon, just yodel once, no one will hear you!” she exclaimed, throwing her hands up as Dudley burped.
Vernon glowered at his wife, turning to look at the blond haired baby before sighing.
“Fine.”
