Theme # 26: Quill

Oliver looked across the room; she sat alone, twirling the quill in her hand thoughtfully.

He was sidetracked, for a moment only, to wonder what was on her mind. Only Katie could distract him from Quidditch. Only her.

“What was that, Olli? We’re supposed to hit our team with the Bludger?” George asked, with a grin. He and Fred were playing dumb, and for once, he didn’t care. He didn’t even tell them to call him Oliver.

“Uh, I’ll see you later, guys. Don’t be late.” Oliver said, absently. He didn’t wait for an answer, but instead walked to Katie.

Theme # 6: Divination

“Remind me again, Katie, why we take this class?” Gabby muttered when the class had been dismissed. Gabby had been told that she would face misery and sorrow, and she was easily irritable.

“C’mon, lets go get something to eat.” Katie said, going down the trap door.

Oliver stood there, a sheepish grin on his face. “Free Period.” He said, and pulled out a flower, handing it to Katie. She stared at him. He’d come all the way up here, just to give her a flower.

She smiled. “Thanks, Oliver.” Katie said, her cheeks going pink. He made her nervous.

Theme #84: Angry

If Katie was angry, it never really lasted long. She wasn’t easily annoyed, and she was pretty forgiving. This was different, though. Way different.

She looked across the common room bitterly at Oliver, talking with his friends, laughing.

He didn’t even realise he’d done anything. Boys were so blind and, stupid. All he ever cared about was quidditch. Usually Katie loved quidditch too, not today.

She saw him look in her direction, and turned away. She didn’t care. He could do whatever he wanted. It wasn’t like Katie cared. She didn’t.

It was only Oliver. That’s what she told herself.

Theme #59: Ignore

“Katie! Wait!” Oliver grinned. He’d been looking for her everywhere.

Katie ignored him, and walked straight past him, pretending he wasn’t there. Oliver’s smile vanished.

“Katie!” She still ignored him and he ran to catch up with her. “Wait, please?” Oliver was fast and ran in front of her.

“What do you want?” She asked, stopping and crossing her arms over her chest. Katie didn’t want to talk to him.

“I couldn’t find you anywhere. I’m sorry, really, really sorry.” Oliver said. She knew why he hadn’t been able to find her. She’d been avoiding him.

Katie smiled softly. “Thanks.”

Theme #46: Dungeon

“This is so your fault, Katie.” Oliver said, leaning against the dungeon wall, they were waiting for Snape to come and give them their detention.

Katie gave him an apologetic smile. “I didn’t mean to! It was an accident, I swear!” She said.

“An accident that you set fire to the Professor’s robes?” Oliver asked, raising his eyebrows. Katie gave him an innocent smile and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

“I really didn’t mean to get you into trouble, though. Snape’s just mean!” Oliver laughed at her. Even if she had got him in trouble, it was still really funny.

Theme #28: Timeturner

Oliver stared gloomily down at his plate. This was his last ever feast at Hogwarts. He didn’t want to leave yet. He didn’t want to graduate.

“Oh, c’mon Oliver. Cheer up.” Katie said.

He wished he had a time turner. He really did. “Why?” He asked.

“Because if you never leave Hogwarts then you’ll never be able to be a professional quidditch player.” She grinned at him. She didn’t want him to leave, either though.

But she wasn’t going to tell him that. Not if it was going to make him gloomy.

Oliver smiled. Katie was right. She knew him.

Theme #92: Chocolate

Katie sat by the lake, waiting for Oliver. He’d wanted to meet her here, probably to discuss more Quidditch tactics.

Sometimes his obsession with Quidditch got annoying. They all wanted to win, but Oliver–

“Hi Katie,” Oliver sat down by her, holding a box of chocolates. “These are for you.” He gave her the chocolate. She suddenly felt bad for thinking he just wanted to talk to her about Quidditch.

“Thanks.”

“Well, you’ll need your energy, we’re having a practice tonight. We have to beat Slytherin, and I know we can do it. We’ve got the best team.”

Or not.

Theme #25: Sorting Hat

Oliver sat at the Gryffindor house table, watching the sorting hat. Katie Bell sat down on the stool, and he crossed his fingers. Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Gryffindor.

He’d known her for all of one day, but he knew he wanted her to be in his house. She was friendly, funny, and she loved Quidditch like him.

“GRYFFINDOR!” The hat shouted out, after being on her head for less then a second. Oliver grinned, and he cheered with the rest of his house.

Katie smiled happily, relieved. She sat down at the Gryffindor table, beside her new best friend. “Where’s the food?”

Theme #95: Snowball

Katie walked slowly, trying her best to not make a sound. She smirked, and finally, she threw the snowball in her hand at Oliver. That’d teach him for trying to through a snowball at her when she was in one of her best dresses.

Oliver turned around, and wasn’t surprised at all to see Katie. He wasn’t surprised to see the innocent smile on her face, ether.

“If you want a snow fight, you should know I’m going to win.” Oliver teased, bending down to grab some snow. Katie ducked when he threw it at her, and grinned. “You missed.”

Theme 31: Dress Robes

Oliver looked at the parcel in front of him, eyeing it apprehensively.

Katie laughed, because she was reminded of the time his mother sent him girls’ muggle clothing.

“Don’t even say it, Katie.” Oliver said, shooting her a look, before going back to carefully opening the package. He was relieved – It was very expensive dress robes.

Katie grinned. “You were looking at it like it was going to blow up, or something. “Or maybe – ”

“Don’t even say anything.” Oliver said, remembering Katie’s relentless teasing. She was almost about as bad as Fred and George Weasley.

Almost.

Katie just smiled.

Theme #14: Hogwarts, A History

Katie wasn’t the academic sort.

Therefore, it was some of a surprise that she was in the library, flipping through the pages of Hogwarts, A History. She wasn’t really reading it, just sitting there was boring enough.

But she knew no one would think to find her in the library, and that was what she wanted. Not to be found. There were those times when you wanted to be alone and have some room to think.

Only Oliver seemed to be thinking the same thing. He walked into the library, and smiled when he saw Katie, immediately walking towards her.

Theme #32: Common Room

Oliver had looked everywhere. He looked in the great hall, the lake, the grounds, the corridors, and classrooms. He’d even looked the library, and Katie was never there.

Eventually giving up, he headed back to the common room. Katie would be at dinner right? He just really wanted to see her.

He walked into the common room, and Katie sat in front of the fire with Gabriella. He couldn’t believe he didn’t look in the common room; it was such an obvious place.

“Oh, hey Oliver!” Katie grinned when she saw him. “I was just wondering what you were doing.”

Theme #77: Cheerful

Oliver walked across the grounds with Katie, and he ran his hand through his light hair nervously. Katie seemed to be particularly happy, which didn’t help.

“So, what did you say you wanted to talk about?” She asked cheerfully.

“Oh, um, that.” Oliver said, not as confident anymore. What if she said no?

Katie watched him, waiting curiously. This wasn’t like Oliver, not normally. “What’s up? You can tell me.” She smiled encouragingly.

“I know that.” Oliver hesitated, looking at Katie, unsure. “Will you go out with me?” He said, in a rush.

“Of course.” Katie said, taking his hand.

Theme #20: Hogsmeade

Katie walked down the snow-covered path with Oliver, laughing and talking.

To be honest, she was actually surprised. Oliver had asked her on a date, but she almost expected that he would take her to the quidditch pitch, or something.

She liked hanging out with Oliver, and she liked Quidditch, but there were those days when it seemed that the sport was all that he ever thought about.

“Where do you want to go?’ She heard him ask, and realized she didn’t even care.

“Somewhere warm.”

“Sure.” Oliver said, taking his scarf from his neck and giving it to Katie.

Theme #69: Slap

Oliver saw Katie coming over to him, and his smile soon vanished at the expression on her face.

She really looked mad, and he had no idea why. Oliver knew that she had a personality where she only thought about things after she’d done them. But he hadn’t expected her to raise her hand and slap him.

Oww.

“That’s for not sending any letters over the summer.” She said. “It’s good to see you again, Oliver.” Katie said, her expression changing into a smile.

He put his hand on his cheek, staring at Katie. “Uh, hey.” He said, clearly confused.

Theme #98: Pajamas

Katie sat with Oliver in the Great Hall as he started unwrapping the package he’d been sent. He was always getting packages from his mother, because she just liked sending him things.

When he opened it and looked inside, he stared at it, horrified. It was PINK pajamas with KITTENS on them! How could she have sent him this?

Katie held her hand over her mouth, trying her hardest not to burst into laughter. Oliver didn’t know this, but they were Hello Kitty pajamas. She started laughing.

Oliver shot her a look. “Not funny.” He muttered, throwing them at her.

Theme #94: Allergic

Oliver looked at Katie with a concerned frown.

“I’m fine,” she protested. He raised his eyebrows disbelievingly, and Katie went into a coughing fit.

“No, you’re not.” She couldn’t argue with that. Not so he would believe her, anyway. But Katie was still determined that she wasn’t sick. She was never sick. She wasn’t.

Then she had an idea. “I’m fine, really. I’m just allergic.”

“To what?” Oliver asked, his expression turning into one of confusion.

“You.” Katie said, quickly walking away before he could bother he anymore. Because she was NOT sick. Not in the slightest.

Katie coughed again.

Theme #13: Quidditch

Katie sighed and stared dejectedly out the window. It was so unfair, she’d broken her leg the day of the quidditch match, and Mdame Pomfrey wouldn’t let her play.

She could just imagine being on her broomstick and flying through the air with wind rushing past –

“Katie?”

She was brought out of the scene in her mind to see Oliver standing there, and she smiled.

“I bought you these to cheer you up since you can’t play today.” He grinned and gave her a box of Honeyduckes chocolates.

“Thanks, Oliver. It’s so boring here, there’s absolutely nothing to do.”

Theme #3: Transfiguration

She was lost. Katie Bell was lost. She had no idea where she was, or where she was supposed to be going.

The first year sighed. She’d never been to her Transfiguration class before.

Katie heard footsteps, and Oliver came around the corner.

“Katie,” Oliver said, surprised. “Are you lost?” He asked, presuming she was supposed to be in class, and she looked a little helpless.

“No,” she said, crossing her arms stubbornly. “I’m not lost.” She was lost, and Katie needed Oliver’s help, but that didn’t mean she wanted to admit it.

Oliver laughed. “Katie, you’re lost.” He said.

Theme #81: Depression

Katie sighed, staring into the flames of the fire. She felt someone sit down beside her, but she didn’t look up. Katie knew who it was.

“I’m here, if you need me.” Gabby murmured softly. They knew each other inside out; they knew exactly what to say.

Gabby knew that Katie just needed someone to be there for her, because being told that ‘everything would be okay’ wouldn’t help.

It was the first year back at Hogwarts without Oliver, and she felt empty. It wasn’t the same, without Oliver here.

“I miss him.” Katie said, leaning her head against Gabby.

Theme #49: Yule Ball

Katie stared at herself in the mirror one last time, a sad smile on her face. She was not always very girly, she loved to play quidditch and she didn’t mind getting dirty every now and then.

But right now, she looked beautiful. Her dress was a gorgeous purple-blue, dark as the black, starless sky outside. It billowed in folds down to her shoes, magnificent. Katie’s blonde hair cascaded down her back, framing her face perfectly.

Katie had always been rather pretty, it was true. But she had never felt so elegant.

If only Oliver were here to see it.

Theme #39: Duel

Oliver stared across the library, glaring at Aidan Waters. Previously, he had nothing against him. He was perfectly friendly.

Now all he could see was the guy dating Katie, and Oliver had never realised how jealous he could be, until now.

Oh, how he wished he could duel him, send a few hexes flying his way. Oliver knew, deep down, he would never do such a thing.

He never got into duels, but even if he did, he wouldn’t get into one with Aidan. Katie was his friend, as much as he disliked her boyfriends, he could never hurt her.

Theme #2: Muggle Studies

Oliver looked down at his Muggle Studies homework, utterly bewildered. He just couldn’t understand it.

Katie didn’t even take the subject, but to her it was simple. Her mother had been muggle born, so she had grown up knowing a lot about everything muggle.

“But I just... Don’t get it.”

Katie sighed. Maybe this was going to be harder then she had thought.

Oliver squinted down at the cellphone they’d been given to study, even though it didn’t work around Hogwarts.

Yes, this was really going to be so much harder then Katie thought.

“It’s really easy.” She began again.

Theme #72: Vex

It vexed her.

Katie watched as Felicity Winters walked up to Oliver, batting her eyelashes alluringly. “Hello Oliver,” she said, her voice flirtatious. “I was wondering if maybe you could teach me about Quidditch.”

“We could go down to the pitch sometime.” Oliver said with a grin, but totally oblivious.

“Or maybe we could go up to the common room,” she murmured softly.

“Would you rather talk about tactics, then?”

Felicity stepped away, annoyed. “Never mind,” she muttered, leaving a very confused Oliver.

He was so clueless; he didn’t know that girls threw themselves at him. Katie smiled to herself.
