100 Tragically Lovely Drabbles for Lily Evans by A.C. - Sa13+ http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i2..._fck/le5gv.jpg #31. Dress Robes Lily bounced joyously outside of Madam Malkin’s shop. Her fathers’ left hand was in her right, while she held a rather long piece of parchment in her left. “Reckon I’ll get to choose the color of my robes, Dad?” she squealed. Her father beamed at her, and shook his head. “I’m sure Hogwarts has strict orders about dress robe color, Lillicans, but perhaps you’ll pick the lining color,” he bargained. Lily accepted this answer. She was too excited to pout anyway, fore she was going to leave the simple Muggle world behind and begin her new life as a witch. |
Her sopping wet high-knee socks made a sloppy noise as she pulled them off her pale feet, cold from the freshly fallen snow. Her bright red hair was high in a messy bun on the top of her head. She sighed angrily as the fire in the Gryffindor common room blazed and its shadows danced on her face, that shown sorrowful confusion. Her best friend had turned on her. “That’s the last time I try to help you, Severus Snape!” she hissed into the fire. Tears were streaming down her face and Snape’s voice rang loud in her head, “Mudblood!” |
“Turn your books to page 47,” Professor Slughorn said smugly to his Potions class, over his large belly, “We’ll be attempting to make Amortentia, the potion of love.” “As I said this is an attempt, I don’t expect any of you to actually make Amortentia, and you will not leave this classroom with what you’ve made. I will get rid of all contents in everyone’s cauldrons before class is over.” After almost an hour, the only student with anything similar to the actual potion was Lily Evans, Slughorn’s favorite student. Slughorn announced Lily’s success and awarded Gryffindor with thirty points. |
“I’m actually surprised you’re taking Muggle Studies, Lily,” Remus said as he sat in the seat next to her. He was glad she was taking the class, Lily was an exceptional student and he could learn a lot from her. “I thought it might be interesting, besides, anything the Professor isn’t quite sure about, I’d be more than happy to help!” Lily exclaimed thoughtfully. “Trying to keep your title as an annoying know-it-all I see!” Lucius Malfoy hissed behind them, “Who would want to take this class?” He sat with a group of Slytherins, all looking disgusted to be there. |
“You just couldn’t stop staring at her!” Lily fumed, as she stormed away from James and, headed from Hogmeade to the Shrieking Shack. James set his pace to a jog to keep up. “I mean, I know she was a veela, but did you have to just-just stare?!” They made it to the entrance of the Shrieking Shack and James took out his wand and muttered a spell. The shack door swung open and he and Lily headed up a staircase. “What took you?” Remus asked as Lily and James came into a room, where he and Sirius were waiting. |
Lily jumped down from the teacher’s stand and sat with the rest of the Gryffindor table, who was cheering loudly for their newest addition. Lily cheered and quickly chatted with other Gryffindors while other names were being called until she heard, “Severus Snape”. Lily watched her childhood friend, sit on the stool and put on the sorting hat. It didn’t take but a few seconds for it to yell out, “Slytherin!” Lily watched, disappointedly as Severus joined the cheering Slytherins and received multiple pats on the back. Severus gave her a half-smile, letting her know he’d always be her friend. |
“Your sister’s just jealous of you,” Severus yelled from his window. He had been watching another argument between Lily and Petunia. They had them at least twice a day since Lily had received her Hogwarts letters. “Don’t feel bad, it would be a bit awful to be a Muggle, I’d think.” Lily cast him an evil look. She couldn’t stand when he’d talk about her sister, or anyone else who couldn’t do magic. Who was he to decide who was better? He was as bad as Petunia. “Packed for tomorrow then?” She replied, ignoring his previous words, and walking away. |
Lily watched in horror as James body was thrown back to the ground, looking as if a Samurai sword had cut him over a thousand times. She gasped and quickly fell to him, not caring that his fresh blood was beginning to ooze onto her shoes. “Remus! Get the headmaster and Madame Pomfrey!” She cried as she tried to mutter healing spells onto James’ body, but none were helping. “Severus, what did you do?!” Severus previously satisfied face, now reflected horror as he watched as Lily tried to help James, and keep him conscious. Severus turned toward voices behind them. |
“Why did I take Herbology Year 7?” Lily moaned to herself, as she sat in the library pouring over books on deadly plants, killer plants, and plants that aren’t wise to keep in your house. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and continued flipping pages. She couldn’t stop studying now, she had N.E.W.Ts to take in the morning, and this was the only class she was struggling in. “Mhmph! Ms. Evans!” The librarian cleared her throat loudly, waking Lily out of her sleep. “The library is now closed. Good luck with your exams tomorrow.” Lily groaned, heading to her common room. |
“Ms. Evans, I’m wondering why you do not have an O, but an E in my class?” Professor McGonagall peered over her glasses into Lily’s green eyes. “I was to understand that you like Transfiguration.” Lily nodded, “Yes, Professor, but I’m not great at it. I mean I get by, but I’m not as good as James or Sirius.” “Well, Potter and Black have seemed to mastered a little more than basic Transfiguration, as you well know, but don’t let what they do, effect how well you do. You’re an exceptional student, and I’m proud you belong to my house.” |
“What classes are you taking this year, Lily?” Remus asked as he glanced over his own parchment. They both had received new schedules from Professor McGonagall. “History of Magic, Herbology, Charms of course, Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, and Potions,” Lily listed off. She grinned when she reached Potions, her favorite class with her favorite professor. “Muggle Studies or Ancient Runes?” Remus asked. “Merlin’s beard, No! Muggle Studies was a waste for me, being Muggle born and Ancient Runes, well, it just sounds boring,” Lily reasoned and chuckled along with Remus, while watching James and Sirius fuss about their schedules. |
James had been in the hospital now for three days, and Lily had spent all of her free time, to stay by his side as he recovered. “Lily, you’re drifting to sleep,” James said sweetly, “Why don’t you go back to your dormitory and take a nap. You come here enough as it is, overkill.” Lily smiled back at him as she laid her head on his thighs. James sat up a little more and stroked her hair. They had been happily going steady for 2 years now, and nothing was going to change that. Not even crazy, jealous Snape. |
Lily ruffled the mass of messy black hair on her son’s head. He cooed softly as he grabbed her pointer finger in his little fist and tugged lightly. She giggled at the small bubbles he was making with his mouth. “My dear, Harry,” she whispered into his hair that smelled fresh, “Just as handsome as your father.” “With green eyes like your mother,” James wrapped his arm around Lily’s waist and stared lovingly into Harry’s small face. He pinched his son’s nose softly and beamed as Harry giggled and clapped his small hands together. “You’ll be one brilliant wizard, someday.” |
“Not everybody can do it, Lily,” James teased as he watched her getting frustrated. “Why are you so desperate to be an Animagus, anyway?” He watched her concentrate so hard, it looked like a blood vessel on her head was about to pop. “I just want to be able to do it. If you and Sirius can do it than I should be able to too!” She fumed and tried once again. James looked at her questionably. “Well like I said, everyone can’t do it and you’re probably one of the ones who can’t.” He walked away, leaving her dumbstruck. |
“She’s going to smack you!” Remus cackled as Sirius whispered his dare for James in his other friend’s ear. James beamed confidently and shook his head. “No. She’ll just be in love. You know she’s been fancying me for quite some time now, just too shy to admit it.” At that moment Lily walked passed the small group, James called her name as she continued down the hall. He sped up behind her, and when she turned around… “Lily, now that we’ve had our first kiss -” James was cut off by Lily’s hand making hard contact with his face. |
Remus ran to catch up with Lily, as Sirius fell to the ground laughing at James’ failed attempt to win Lily on Sirius’ dare-kiss. “Lily, are you okay?” Remus asked, trying to suppress his laughter. Lily looked at him, she was flushed in the face and looking rather pale. “I’m fine, Remus,” she whispered softly, “I wasn’t mad. I-I was surprised, how did James even know I liked him?” Remus stared in disbelief; he couldn’t believe that smart, beautiful Lily Evans actually liked his crazy, silly friend, James Potter. Lily blushed harder and walked away quickly. Remus continued to stare. |
Lily had her head in a Charms book, muttering spells with her wand in the air as she walked the halls. She didn’t notice the tall frame in front of her until she bumped into it. “Watch where you’re going, Mudblood!” a voice hissed at her. Lily immediately recognized the tall, handsome form of Lucius Malfoy, and clutched to his arm was Narcissia Black. They stuck their noses in the air and walked past Lily. “Shame Hogwarts isn’t purely Pureblood,” Narcissia exclaimed. “Precisely,” Malfoy said as she gripped him tighter. Lily sneered at the two and kept walking, thoroughly disgusted. |
It was Christmas holiday and Lily was back in Spinner’s End with her family. It was in fact Christmas morning and Lily had a large amount of gifts at the foot of her bed. There were gifts from her parents, grandparents, James, Remus, Sirius, and even Petunia. Lily picked at the sweets she received and marveled over the new robes and gown. An owl scratched at her window, it was holding a letter. Lily quickly opened the letter and let the owl in. It began to hoot at her affectionately as she patted its head. She recognized the writing; Severus. |
