Divination

"Come now, children. Come, gather around!" crowed the elderly woman with bird feathers in her hair and frog's eyes on her wrist. "Come! COME! The future waits for no one!"

Tom stared at the woman sitting before the crystal ball, his brow raised and a most annoyed look on his face. He didn't understand how such a psychotic woman could become a Professor at Hogwarts. The again, the majority of the staff was a bit loony.

He sighed and moved toward the last open cushion with the rest of the students. He could only hope she saw her own death.

Pensieve

Too often had Voldemort come across a person who obtained a pensieve. He thought they were supposed to be rare, but then he met another wizard who possessed one.

He kept his own locked up, unknown to everyone around him. A gloomy day he felt like cheering himself up, he peered into a memory of his adolescent self.

"Riddle has no friends," taunted a boy. "Or any family. He's all alone."

Young Riddle had taken enough badgering and reached up and swung his hand out, slapping him and lighting his shorts ablaze.

Old Riddle chuckled and let out a smile.

Whomping Willow

Keeping his updates on Hogwarts monthly and yearly, or whenever there was a change, Voldemort raised a brow when he noticed a tree had been planted in the middle of the grounds. It wasn't a seed or a shrub, but a full-grown tree.

As if capable of reading minds, Fenrir the Werewolf came around and spotted the maps. He raked a clawed hand through his hair as he examined it.

"Perhaps it's to cover a grave? Aw, I wonder who died." His smile showed off his pale, pointed teeth, which were becoming darker over the years due to the bloodstains.

Dare

Avery and Wilkes had the strangest desire to play the Muggle's game Truth or Dare whenever they were bored and walking around school grounds after hours. Riddle never accepted the game, but was always there, preferring to be outside than in the common room.

"Someone give me a dare!" Avery said with a bounce in his steps. "A good one!"

Rodolphus glared at him as it was he who was responsible for the last seven dare ideas.

"I dare you to hex Rodolphus," Riddle chirped in.

Avery was flat on the ground, Rodolphus' wand pointed at him.

"Point," beamed Rodolphus.

Homework

Every night for the past four years, Tom had obeyed the strict rules of his education and did each and every one of his assignments. But on this night when the harsh wind bit at his arms and face and howled so beautifully in his ears, he could not concentrate. He was out by the lake and thought he'd be forced by boredom to finish his homework, but the wind was set on disrupting him.

With a grumble he curled up his parchment and set his head on his hand, and for the first time in his life, sulked.

Newspaper

Why must Muggles always be first on the scene when it involves wizards or strange situations?

Voldemort shook his head and tossed a large, grey newspaper onto the desk before him. He was not trying to get their attention. No, not this time for a change. The deaths were supposed to call out Severus, wherever he may be hiding his thick, greasy head from the Lord's sight.

"I suppose we'll just have to make a much larger scene," he said in an exasperated sigh then turned. "Rodolphus, call your wife. We're going to have ourselves a dinner party."

Socks

Every year a nitwit group of students would try to set all the House Elves free. Normally they didn't bother others, but this term a gal named Dorca thought to ask Tom for help.

With two metal sticks in his hand, Riddle wondered if the girl had lost her mind in asking him to help her make socks. He'd already hexed three House Elves, so why would he care about freeing them? He would still kill them, servants or free.

"Tom, please help me do this. I'll never ask anything of you again, I promise!"

Riddle stared. You sure won't.

Wand

Riddle wasn't really sure what had happened to his wand. One minute he had it and then the next there was smoke and screams, and only bits and pieces of his beautiful wand remained in his hand. He thought a spell backfired, but he never learned the truth.

Into Olliver's he went and dealt with the boring old man once more. This time instead of a unicorn hair in his wand, he was given one made from Fawkes' feathers. He knew the name and a smile grew on his face as he paid the old man and left the shop.

Snowball

Winter had come and flushed the warmth from the castle. Most students preferred going outside and running around to gather warmth than huddle together beside the fireplace. At least, that's how it was with Slytherins. They didn't huddle. To suggest such a thing was idiotic. They chose to wage war against themselves and other houses that happened to be outside.

How did they do so without getting a week's worth of detention?

"SNOWBALL FIGHT!" Avery yelled before throwing a large ball of white at Riddle who ducked a few moments before it whirled right where his head should have been.

Hogsmeade

Despite not having a guardian to sign his form, Riddle was always allowed to join the trips to Hogsmeade. Well, allowed may have been the wrong word to use since he had never asked any of the professors or headmaster about it, but he always went and enjoyed himself, spending most of his time sneaking into pubs or frolicking through Knockturn Alley.

In years to come, he would only be visiting Hogsemead to access the abandoned house that a certain Headmaster had been keeping his eye on as of late.

Veela

They came like a flock of birds, but graceful and elegant; like swans. They stood as formal as the fairest of queens in this time and all those before. They were jewels brought to life, denied by all men to be touched.

All men except Tom.

There was something about him, the manner in which he talked, even if he was giving you a death sentence; the way he held himself and the way his lips curved up ever so genteelly, not even the Veela could resist him.

He didn't mind their attention. No, he didn't mind in the least.

Kneazle

The creature had been lurking about the castle for days. No one knew exactly why it was there and no one could catch it and remove it, not even the headmaster itself. It was hunting for something.

Riddle had forced himself into the library to study for his O.W.L.s. However, as he placed his books on a table, a furry creature hopped up to join him, strutting about with its bushy tail waving in the air.

Riddle raised a brow then reached up and stroked the large creature. "Not here to corrupt my evil plans, are you?"

The kneazle smirked.

Telescope

Riddle's eyes had been glued to his telescope for the last two hours. He had moved from a standing position besides the wall to lying flat on his back, telescope suctioned to his eye. He had forgotten a while ago what it was exactly he was looking for in the stars, but he was secretly enjoying himself. No one was around. It was just him and the stars. He wasn't sure why seclusion seemed so right to him; maybe it was being deserted as a child, who knows? He supposed the stars would show their gratitude to him someday …

Sorting Hat

What was the big deal about a ratty old hat that came out once a year and belted out house names? Honestly, why put so much respect into an article of clothing? Riddle rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Tom Riddle!"

Tom sighed and pushed through the crowd, sitting down on the stool and waiting for the dusty hat to call out a House. Barely a second passed before it blurted out, "Slytherin!"

Tom hopped up and was headed to his table when the hat made an odd remark. "Never seen a soul as pure as Great Salazar himself."

Allergic

Riddle had never allergic to anything. He rarely sneezed and when he did he was in a room that hadn't been swept in centuries. So why was he sneezing up a storm, barely able to shoot out a sentence before he was attacked by another sneeze? It was infuriating him so he went to the Potions master to find a cure.

"Someone's slipped you sneezing powder."

When mentioning this to his gooneys in the Common Room later that night, Avery let a giggle escape his lips. Riddle narrowed his eyes. Avery was stuck in the Hospital Wing for two weeks.

Chocolate

It happened to be mid-February when a few of the DE's began acting strange. He never thought they could be affected by the Muggle holiday, but he wouldn't be surprised if they had lost their minds.

As he entered his study to prepare a meeting, Voldemort noticed something on his desk. It was a strange little box with a bow wrapped around it. He used his wand to open up the small card lying on top of it.

"Everyone deserves a bit of chocolate on a day of love. Even you, Master. Bella."

"How preposterous," he sneered loudly, dissolving it.

Quill

It was exam time at Hogwarts and like all students, Riddle was studying his brains out. He was the best in all his classes except for one, and he actually enjoyed studying.

His quill moved across the parchment paper, emitting a scratching noise when the ink dried up. He preferred regular old quills than enchanted ones that produced their own ink. He liked the residue on his hand once he was done; it showed how hard he worked to better himself than everyone else.

Who would have thought that soon there would be no competition, all competitors hexed into oblivion?

Owl

"How do you figure trolls could be controlled?" demanded Antonin.

"With the right amount of power, you can control anything."

"I think you're losing it, Riddle."

Riddle raised an eyebrow. "You think so?" He looked around and saw the daily owls swooping in to deliver messages. He grinned and grabbed his plate, raising it directly in front of a small owl, forcing the small thing to smash into it.

"I control this bird's life now," he said, swooping up the bird and holding it in his hands.

Antonin gulped. "All right, I believe you. Now hand me my bloody bird."

Classroom

Despite the houses being in a constant rivalry, respect was not preached, except toward professors. As long as students weren't hexed into oblivion, the professors accepted the hate.

When a loud explosion erupted from the dungeons one morning, smoke and an odd odor filling the dungeon, professors thought it was a potion gone wrong. No one suspected it was Riddle tossing Charlie Tinkleton into a cauldron for calling Tom a 'senseless, moronic git.' If Charlie had known anything, he would have known that although Riddle could be a git, he was the smartest student in school.

"Say goodbye, Charles."

Future

The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches ...
Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies ... And the Dark Lord will mark him as equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not ... And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.

Riddle was at a loss for words. What words fit after such a prophecy? A cackle, maybe, but it was serious now. Now he had to be even more careful, even with his own followers.

Timeturner

How many years had gone by since that old man invited Riddle to Hogwarts? How long had it been since he was taken from the orphanage of loud, obnoxious children and put in a school where he could hex the imbeciles?

Many nights Riddle found these thoughts wandering his mind. They weren't his favorite days, and yes, they changed his future, but he always wondered what would have happened had he remained in the orphanage.

He chewed on his lip, something he never did, and began rummaging through his desk, looking for a name that held a small time piece.

Feast

Something about stuffing your face in front of friends was just marvelous. Or so Hogwarts believed. Perhaps it was only Slytherins who shoved food into their mouths like it was air, forcing most of it to fall off the plate or on them.

Riddle's lip curled up as he watched his House eat, wondering how such animals had been sorted into a House of elegance and cunning. Surely they possessed some secret, hidden up their sleeves.

"Hey Riddle, d'ya want any pumpkin bread?" Avery asked, crumbs tumbling from his mouth.

Riddle glared and Avery helped himself to the last piece.

Present

Too many thoughts had been bothering Voldemort for the past three nights. He barely slept; not that he did much of it before, but now he was lucky if he got forty winks before his mind surged forward with memories of the past.

"Stop it," he would curse himself. But how does one control your own mind without the use of a spell gone awry?

He'd told himself many times to live in the present so as to think of every detail of his plans, but his mind always shot forward or behind, leaving him with one too many mistakes.

Dress Robes

"They're ... fuchsia."

Avery, Rodolphus and Tom gaped at the ugly pair of dress robes that hung before them. They'd arrived that morning with a note from Avery's mother. Somehow she caught on to the end of the year ball and wanted her baby to look dashing

Avery slowly reached forward and touched the fabric. It felt like rough sand paper. His face dropped; horrified that he had to wear them. Rodolphus and Tom broke out in snickering and Rodolphus even collapsed in a fit of laughter.

This was another reason why Tom was glad he didn't have a family.

Common Room

After every defeat of Gryffindor, a party was held in the Slytherin Common Room. Naturally, there were many parties, but the House always got a kick of rubbing in their victory in all other House's faces. Even a few of the teachers would make an appearance, a smug expression on their faces.

With fireworks from the first and second years, and summoned treats by the third and fourth years, the older students simply sat back and had a good time. It was normally because of them their house earned the victory, so why should they have to work at all?

Pureblood

Most Slytherins were purebloods. Some say it's what made them so evil. It was rare to find 'Mudbloods'. Most that were found out were ostracized by their own House.

Tom did not mention in the least that he wasn't a pureblood. No one would ever think to snicker about him, but he still kept it to himself. For the most part.

"Stupid Mudbloods," sneered Rodolphus. "How the hell did he even get sorted into Slytherin? How?!"

The boy was suddenly flung across the room and directly into the wall. Heads flew to look at guilty Riddle.

"Sorry. My hand slipped."
