17. Cauldron

Walking through Diagon Alley streets. Cassia breathed loudly, "Dad, I'm tired can we go home now!" she complained. Her father shook his head, "We still have to buy you a Cauldron."

"Can't we buy it tomorrow?" She whined.

Her father sighed ,"Cassia, we'll buy the cauldron then go home." He ended the discussion.

The little girl frowned, "Why would I need a cauldron anyway!" Her father raised his eyebrows at her, "Like I have not taught you anything! How else would you brew potions without a cauldron!" He said matter-of-factly. Then he picked up his pace and she followed him.

99.Trunk

And she now was done packing. She stood triumphantly looking at her packed trunk. She turned to her brother sitting cross-legged on the floor and smirked, "Done packing!"

He yawned exaggeratingly ,"Yeah after it took you ages."

She glared at him ,"It only took me a couple of weeks."
He chuckled, "And that's what it usually takes to pack a trunk."
"We'll see how much time you will need when you pack!" she said pointing her forefinger at him.

"I'll only need a couple of hours."He said confidently.

She shook her head, " Well, we'll see in three years."

42.Portraits


She was late again! Cassia was descending the stairs, her bag slung over her shoulder "One wrong turn and you're on the other side of the castle," She muttered under her breath.

"Let me guess lost again little kid." A voice sounded behind her.

She froze and turned around slowly. Oh those portraits, "I'm not lost," Cassia glared at the old man in the picture.

"No of course you're not. You just like to take all the wrong stairs before taking the right one!" She crossed her arms over chest.

"I'd say you go run for class girl."

And She fled.

87.Staircase


The first year was on one of her tours around the castle. She now reached the moving stairs ,she's been always fascinated by those enchanted stairs.

Climbing slowly She spotted a girl descending across her. That girl was, Gwen carrying a box!

Cassia squinted her eyes at the box. "What's in this box?" She asked Gwen when they reached the same point.

The girl was lost in thought, she raised an eyebrow at Cassia and answered, "Jelly Beans!"

Cassia sighed realizing that it was indeed a candy box, "I thought it was something cooler." The first year said sounding disappointed.

35.Pureblood


"Now, tell me what does being pureblood mean?" Cassia's father asked peering at her from behind a book he had given her earlier to read.

The girl felt uneasy for she barely opened the book. "That both of the wizard's parents are wizards…" She offered trying to sound confident but failed under her father's stare.

Her father placed the book down, "Cassia Somerlad, you're to give more time to preparing for school," He said, "And less time playing with your brother and Liam."

Cassia nodded weakly.

"Will my girl disappoint me?" He said smiling faintly.

"She won't." Cassia answered determinedly.

25.Sorting hat.


The moment finally came! Cassia was seated and the sorting hat was to be placed on her head. The girl closed her eyes.

Take a breath and relax. You will be where you deserve to be, her father's words were echoing in her head the moment she stepped inside the hall. The young girl folded her hands in her lap, she hoped for her younger brother's hand held in hers. But he was far away home.

"SLYTHERIN!"

The now-declared-a-slytherin opened her eyes as her mouth tugged at the corners forming a smile imagining her brother's smirking, "I told you so!"

27.Owl.


After standing silently with her father for nearly an hour."Ok, Cassia which cat did you decide on?" Her father sighed patiently.

"I want….." She trailed off darting her eyes between the cages, "I want that owl!"She pointed at the other direction of the shop.

Her father stared at her for a moment before looking where she pointed, "But…you love cats!" He arched his eyebrow at her.

"I do! But I want an owl for school." She grinned then turned on her heels and bounced towards the owl.

Her father shook his head and followed his enthusiastic beaming young girl.

13.Quidditch

The atmosphere was incredibly energetic! It was so thrilling .the first year was so enthusiastic ,she had always imagined how a final Quidditch game would be. And it was even better.

She was cheering for her team and her friends on the team. But the little Slytherin was barely able to see the field! It was bugging her, being short!

"Hey there, do you need a lift?"

Cassia turned to the source of the voice and found that it was an older student. "I wouldn't mind one!" She grinned.

And once on his shoulders the view was so much better!

32.Common room.

Cassia was very bored. She sank down on a seat in the common room fiddling with the straps of her dress. She exhaled loudly staring at nothing . then she heard some racket. She turned to the source of the sound and saw Emmanuelle emptying her bag.

Cassia stepped closer to her and asked curiously," What are you doing?"

The older girl glanced up at her , "Digging for worms!" she snapped at Cassia.

"That's cool!" Cassia said sitting down beside her. "Do you need any help?"she offered.

Emmanuelle rolled her eyes at the nosy first year and ignored her.

95.Snowball.

"My snowman will win," Mike said confidently.

"No way! Your snowman is odd-looking!" Cassia teased.

"Silence kids, your grandmother hasn't decided yet." Their father said amused.

Grandmother Margret stood before the two snowmen silently regarding them. She shook her head ,"They both lose," She announced and bent down gathering snow in both hands and hitting the two snowmen. She then turned around and started throwing snowballs at her grandchildren and her son.

And the battle was declared! Snowballs were being thrown randomly. When Grandmother Margret is having fun you take advantage of it. Who knows when it will happen again.

66. Pace

He was running so fast! Cassia was lost in thought when she was startled by the running figure approaching her. So many things have been going on the school at that time. And the first year's imagination didn't need a reason to be activated.

She straightened and called out to him, "Are you alright?"

Stopping suddenly one foot above the ground, "I'm West Odessa, I'm always alright!" The boy answered matter-of-factly.

Cassia Blinked at him.

Okay, maybe not everything around school was to be suspected regardless of how much it seemed to be. Paranoid you are being girl, she thought.

21.Veela

"So Veelas are very beautiful?" Cassia asked her grandmother sitting at the foot of her bed.

"Beautiful they are. But attractive is more accurate," Her grandmother answered lying down on the bed.

"Is it true that your grandmother was a Veela," Cassia asked.

"Not a Veela. A quarter Veela. Her mother was half a Veela," She said.

Cassia blinked at that.

Her grandmother sighed," The effect fades through generations," She tried to explain.

"Could I be a Veela?"

"Sweetie, you're beautiful without being one,"

"So I couldn't?"

"I'm afraid not." The grandmother answered apologetically.

Cassia pouted her lip hearing that.

41.Therstals


"What is this?" Cassia asked her father placing a book before him.

"This Cassia, is a Therstal. It's a winged horse," He answered ,"Very rare creature it is and I find it glorious and fascinating," He mused at the picture before glancing at his daughter again. "It can be ridden. It is also believed that this creature brings bad luck. Superstitious I guess." He shrugged. "And how come Therstals caught your attention?"He asked an eyebrow arched.

"They are one of the themes those drabbles are about, I just had to ask,"

"What?"

"Never mind Dad." She replied shrugging her shoulders.

11.History of Magic

That was exhilarating! Professor Scabior was taking them to the city of Atlantis! Cassia beamed. Straightening, she inhaled deeply and grabbed a portkey.

So she'd grab the portkey when Professor Scabior reached number three. Cassia was so excited causing her to grin a bit too much. Fortunately, it wasn't showing because of the bubble that was cast for breathing.

And she thought that History of Magic would be dull. Well, she was proven wrong. She was going to visit a long-gone city underwater when she was only eleven. She sent her silent gratitude to Professor Scabior who stood before them.

30.Feast

It was the end-of-term feast when two Slytherins discovered a very essential fact that guided their up-coming six years. They agreed on it and made it rule number-one.

"Next year Snakes will win the house cup and the Quidditch cup," Theodore said resolutely.

"True! Because Snakes are the coolest and only them have the credibility to do so." Cassia agreed with him, "While ,you know, the other houses are ok," She shrugged.

"They are lame in comparison to Slytherin," Theo corrected her. " Snakes will definitely rule the school." He added.

"They will." Cassia emphasized.

And that was year 2077.

98.Pajamas.

"Cassia?" Mike said peering at her room.

Cassia sighed at her younger brother's habit of annoying her. "I'm asleep!" She replied with her eyes closed.

He walked to her bed anyway ,"No you aren't! It's still day and you're not wearing any pajamas." He pointed out.

She opened her eyes just to glare at him. "I have decided to make those pants and t-shirt PAJAMAS!" She answered rolling her eyes.

"You cannot. Grandmother will never allow it," He said.

"What do you want anyway?"

He jumped on the bed causing it to bounce up and down and giggled. "I forgot!"

28. Timeturner.


"Don't you think it's awesome to have a timeturner?" Cassia said to her brother excitedly.

"It's great, turning back time can be really useful," Mike agreed.

"So tell me what would you change if you had a timeturner?" She asked curiously.

After pausing for a couple of seconds he said,"I would've bought more cookies yesterday because I already finished them today," He answered thoughtfully.

Glaring at her brother she said," Turning back time is supposed to be about important matters!"

"Said who? Besides cookies are important!" He said matter-of-factly.

That response caused the snake to roll her eyes dramatically.

52.Bore

"You're not holding the needle correctly, Cassia" Cassia's grandmother said pointing with her wand.

"I don't wanna learn sewing! What's the point anyway when we could use magic!" Cassia whined .

Her grandmother sighed and spoke sternly, "Because that will make you gain some patience which you obviously lack," That called for a scowl."Then you'll learn to do it by magic."Another disapproving look.

"It's very boring,"

The old woman gasped."Sorry to bore you but It's a necessity,"

Cassia frowned down at the stitch she had been failing to complete.

"I feel like a muggle," she muttered under her breath.

53.Chase

The idea had just been brought up and already both Cassia and Tag were storming down the corridor. They were racing, though it looked as if they were chasing after someone or something running.

A couple of feet away from the finish line, they might have forgotten to slow down. The snake toppled down, while the Lion collided with the wall.

"Tag, I shall be your nurse till you heal," she said crawling over to him as he rubbed his injured shoulder.

"I need food!" He replied grinning.

Unfazed by the incident, they enthusiastically journeyed to the kitchens to refuel.

"So? How much?" Cassia asked, sitting cross-legged in the broomcupboard.

"Hmmm.." The Eaglette murmured scribbling in her notebook. "Minus seven galleons,"

"Minus?!" Cassia blinked.

"I assumed the posters' materials were on the budget." answered Blue.

Shaking her head, the snake crumpled a poster in her hand. "And deducting the posters' cost?"

"Ummm, zero." Blue said shrugging. "So much for starting our own business," she added sighing.

"Then Hogwarts shall remain a loveless castle," Cassia muttered setting the pile of posters in fire.

From where she sat, Blue reached for her wand and extinguished the fire with a surge of water.

"This is like one of our best ideas ever, The third-year snake whispered to her bestfriend who was leaning against the wall next to her. "That thing is definitely a wig," Lex agreed nodding her head.

"I know! Can't believe no one thought to question that or say something about it, or is it because she's the headmistress?" She shook her head both disapprovingly and disappointed at that.

Handing over the piece of parchment, Cassia asked, "What do you think now?" The Gryffindor examined it silently and scribbled down some words. "This is neat, and ready to be tipped off."

1.Herbology

Her hands shook as she started tearing the envelope open. This was it, she's waiting to find out about this since forever. Well, since she completed her exams actually. Lots of thought floated around her head as the envelope dropped to the floor and only the letter remained in her hands.

Her eyes scanned the words fast until they reached the word she had been looking for. Herbology. And Dreadfull!

"YES!" The snake breathed happily. She felt a great weight lifting off her chest. She no longer had to risk her life going into the greenhouses where only disasters happened.

78. Big News. (author's choice)

"Yeah, keep staring at it, Cassia, it might vanish if you stop," Mike joked plopping down on the couch across his sister.

"Have you any idea what this badge means?"

"How would I? It's not like I go to school or anything," he deadpanned.

"Of all the other seventh years," she whispered not noticing what Mike said at all.

"Sounds like a lot of work, though," he said leaning forwards and stretching out his arm in an attempt to snatch the badge from his sister which resulted in his hand getting slapped and a serious glare being sent his way.

100.Homework

Stressing about this being her last homework, typical Cassia. Due to that, she'd been tapping the quill against the parchment for a while without getting any words written. Had to be good!

Luckily it was CoMC one of her two favorite subjects so it was fitting. She also wanted to keep a copy of that to remember. She wished she had a copy of her first homework but probably sucked so no need for such a memory. This one would do. With a faint smile pulling at her lips, the seventh-year finally started scribbling the words of her last homework.
