Hello there! 
I'm Brigette and I'm taking another attempt at drabbling, this time with my SSRPG charrie Vashti Greenwell ("Queenie" is one of her many nicknames, in case you were wondering about the title  ). The doorbell rang, and her mother got up to answer it. It was just like every other normal day.
Today was not a normal day though, as they would all soon find out.
A man was at the door, asking to speak with the entire family. Once gathered, he gave them the news, “Your daughter’s a witch.” As he explained to her incredulous parents, he handed Vashti a letter. She read it with wide eyes.

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The man – she hadn’t really paid much attention to what he said his name was – had said they had to come to King’s Cross station and run through a wall. Specifically the one between Platforms 9 and 10, which was what she and her parents were standing in front of now.
Vashti glanced uncertainly at her father. He gave her a reassuring smile and nod before he and her mother took their place beside her. Then they were running towards the wall…
…and suddenly staring at a bright red train.
Vashti gaped, staring with wide eyes. That was… SO COOL.

“Vashti,” Aunt Grace tentatively called through the closed door. She knocked a couple times as well. “Honey, dinner’s ready.”
No reply came from the other side.
“Vashti, you can’t just stay holed up in your room all day. It’s not healthy. And it’s not like you.”
Silence was the only reply.
“Come on, Vashti, you need to eat with us. We – your mother – made your favorite. Chicken! She made it exactly like your father always did.”
“I hate that chicken.”
“No, you don’t. I know you-”
“I said I hate it! I don’t ever want to eat that chicken again!”

{13} Quidditch
Mid-September 2070
Quidditch sounded pretty cool. Vashti had had it explained to her on the Hogwarts Express and she’d looked it up in some books she’d found in the Hogwarts library. She wasn’t much of a sports person, but she did want to experience as much of the Wizarding World as possible. So it wouldn’t hurt to tryout. If she was too horrible or she didn’t like it, then she wouldn’t make the team and she could at least say she’d tried it out.
So that settled it. Vashti picked up the pen and signed her name on the Ravenclaw tryout sheet.

A Saturday Night in June 2068
“I still don’t want to-”
“Shhh.”
“Susan, I don’t like-”
“Shhh!”

“SHHH!”
Vashti pouted at her friends’ shushing and finally just pulled the blanket over her head, only leaving her eyes partially uncovered. As scared as she was, she still wanted to see what would happen in the movie.
She watched with wide eyes as the music started getting creepier. “Don’t go into that basement,” she mumbled timidly, as if the character onscreen would hear.
When the door opened and the monster predictably jumped out, Vashti screamed, covered her head, and heard the TV blow out.

Valentine’s Day, 2070
The ten-year-old girl bit her lip nervously, clutching a wrapped chocolate heart in her hand. It was Valentine’s Day, and Vashti wanted to give the heart to Thomas without him knowing it was from her. But how?
When he turned his back to her to talk to another of his friends, she seized her chance. She leaned to the side and stretched out her arm, trying to reach his desk. It was farther than it looked though, and as she stretched further…
THUMP!
“Vashti! You okay?”
“Y-Yeah, I, um… I saw this chocolate on the floor… You want it?”
“Sure!”

THUMP!
“Oops! Sorry!” Vashti exclaimed as she accidentally bumped into someone. Turning, she saw that there was a small, almost frail-looking girl on the ground. A book had fallen beside her.
“Here,” she said, bending to help the girl and pick up the book, “let me help-”
The girl snatched the book up and moved away from Vashti. Vashti looked puzzled for a moment before noticing the book’s cover.
“Hey, you like Narnia too?”
The girl glared at her before running off.
“Er. Okay then.” Shaking her head at the girl’s strange behavior, she turned and picked up her trunk.

Vashti had always liked watching romantic movies, but not all since some were weird and awkward, more the ones that were genuinely cute and realistic and gave that her that warm fuzzy feeling inside when the couple finally confesses their undying love. Those movies had always given her hoped that one day she too would experience something like that.
Until now.
Now, when every other girl her age had a boyfriend, she was still alone. She told herself it was fine, but really it kinda sucked too. It made her feel like she was some sort of anti-Veela or something.

Vashti had read that somewhere recently. It was a quote by Albus Dumbledore, the man who was headmaster of Hogwarts long ago in Harry Potter’s day and even before then. She didn’t know whether what he said was true or not, but he had obviously been an extremely intelligent man, so perhaps…
She bit her lip then and let the tears fall, blurring her vision of the grave before her. She blinked them away, wiped her eyes, and tried to smile.
“I hope you’re having a great adventure, Dad.”

Vashti was in Diagon Alley once again and was walking past the Owl Post Office when she suddenly bumped into a person who happened to be exiting the shop at that very moment.
“Oof!” they both said. “Sorry, that was my-”
They stopped when they realized they were speaking at the same time, and at that moment they looked at each other – and froze.
Was that… “Cadence?” Vashti asked incredulously, eyes widening.
“Vashti?” the young woman replied in the same surprised tone.
In that moment, both of them were sharing the same thought: What is my Muggle cousin doing here?

Some might call it fate or destiny (but not a horse) that brought her to Sugarplums that day. She didn’t want to be there in Diagon Alley, yet there she was. So she figured she could at least get a bit of candy – sugar nearly always made things better, and she did have a bit of a sweet tooth.
It didn’t play out quite as she’d expected: gumballs were strewn across the floor and people were tripping left and right – and one of those people happened to be him.

Today was probably one of the best days of her life. She couldn’t stop smiling at all during the day, and even when she got home, having previously planned to yell at Derek, she instead simply smiled and moved on to her room.
She sat down on her bed and started fiddling with her necklace, the one she’d received for her seventeenth birthday. She just couldn’t stop moving, and she felt so happy that she was suddenly sure she could produce a Patronus. Perhaps she could try…
She drew her wand.
“Expecto Patronum!”
A silver dolphin sprang from her wand.

Fearing she might miss something if she blinked, she kept her eyes wide open as she looked down the aisle. At the end of it by the altar, she saw the love of her life, the man she was going to marry. He was smiling almost as widely as she was sure she was.
She glanced to her right and saw her dad standing there, appearing both ready and reluctant to lead her down the aisle – and he too was smiling.
The day seemed perfect... Her future seemed bright...
“Vashti,” she heard someone say.
She blinked – and the daydream evaporated.
