Blaise Zabini had decided this every day for a month. Every night, he had decided yet again. It would be tomorrow. Today. Tomorrow.

How bothersome.

Thus, the small box had remained in his bag, unreturned. Not forgotten, but... avoided, only to be seen on the rare occasion that he actually needed a book. As he pulled on his pajamas, his foot caught the edge of said bag and out spilled the little box.

Draco's present from Pansy.

An idea struck him, and Blaise simply kicked it right under Draco's bed, smirking nonchalantly.

Problem solved.

“TODAYYYY I AM A MAN!”

Prongs was beating his chest and parading around the Gryffindor common room, roaring in what he probably considered to be a manly way. Moony was reading, Wormtail perked up with interest but Sirius only kicked his feet up on the table and yawned uninterested.

“What’s with him?”

“Apparently his date went really well?”

“With who?”

“Some Hufflepuff.”

James ignored the conversation between Moony and Wormtail, jumped over Padfoot’s legs and came to a stop right in front of an unimpressed looking Lily.

He squeaked and deflated.

Sirius smirked.

“What was that about being a man?”

A hand reached out tentatively and latched onto Draco Malfoy's sleeve. Pausing, the blonde looked down at the girl clutching at him and frowned. What did this one want?

"H-Hello, Draco," it squeaked.

"What do you want?" he asked flatly, pushing her hand off.

"I just... it's Valentine's Day, and I was wondering if..."

Oh? Draco stared for a moment before smirking. He had had a sudden... idea.

With a quick movement, he gave her a kiss. Shocked, her face burned crimson over receiving more than she'd hoped for.

"Obliviate."

Smirking, he walked away, taking her memory with him.

He didn’t go for muggle fashions, ignored the latest fads and yet he still had imitators everywhere.

It wasn’t about what you wore so much as how you worked it.

…unless you were going for that devilishly dishevelled look, and Tom was no Gryffindor.

He slipped on his Dragonhide gloves with a practiced flick of the wrist and ignored the nearby sighs of girlish desire the action elicited. They were always underfoot; fun to play with and yet so… so.

He’d choose one later. Tomorrow he’d disdain to remember her name.

Dudley was bored. So bored, in fact, that he had been reduced to picking on the kid down the street. With Piers along, of course, and his gang. As they stood over the terrified little kid, hands searching his pockets for change so they could buy sweets, Dudley sighed.

This was so beneath him. His gang should be going after people with more money than this. There wasn't even enough to buy sweets for himself, much less all of them.

Maybe he could bully his cousin into making money for him. He took that Transfigurational class for a reason, right?

“I never want to speak to you again!” The Slytherin girl stormed into the common room and made a futile attempt at tugging the ring off her finger.

“Did you need a hand with that?” Lucius offered courteously and gestured peremptorily at the firstie, Severus who timidly came to the blond boy’s side. Lucius caught the girl’s hand and Snape’s hair, yanking the boy forward and rubbing the greasy lock on the girl’s finger.

The ring came free and Lucius looked around, his icy gaze coming to rest on Narcissa Black.

“Wear my ring, Narcissa?”

His lips curled invitingly.

"Oh come on then, Cote." Donaghan grabbed his shoulder, stopping him from going onstage. "Myron will hex your legs off if you do."

Heathcote Barbary stared at his bandmate for a moment before an amused smile curled his lips.

"It's a dare from Gid, if you've a problem then take it up with him."

Shaking the hand away, Cote trailed onto the stage, where Myron was already stationed and rallying the crowd. Silently, Cote flicked his wand at the singer.

The crowd's roaring cheers stalled, then turned to raucous laughter. Cote grinned lasciviously.

"That's a rather nice ball gown, Myron."

40 ;; S P E L L

McGonagall agreed with some reluctance when James Potter had volunteered to help decorate that year. She taught the volunteers a spell to conjure mistletoe and Potter had practiced hard enough that he’d even mastered it non-verbally.

McGonagall soon found out why he’d practiced so hard, she caught him conjuring mistletoe in perfectly timed bursts above the heads of the prettiest girls. Of course he grinned and pointed apologetically at the mistletoe, shrugging even as he stole their kisses.

“Mr. Potter!”

In response, a jaunty sprig of mistletoe appeared above the professor’s head.

According to James the detention was worth it.
