2. Muggle Studies

"So, wait... a toaster heats bread up and turns it into toast?" James furrowed his eyebrows to the professor.

"Finally... yes, that is correct, Mr. Potter." The fifth year nodded and wrote that quickly down. His buddy, Sirius, nudged him in the side.

"Mate, why do you even bother with this class? You're rubbish at it."

James huffed, and continued to write down the properties of a television. Little did anyone know, that the boy took this class purely to find out more about her personal background. Because she was a muggle born, and poor James was kinda clueless on them.

3. Transfiguration

"Watch this, Padfoot!" Twelve year old James Potter was flailing about the grounds, waving his wand about, "Watch me turn Snivellus into a Duck!" The other Marauders gathered behind their leader.

"Readyyyyyy... DUCKLIFORS!" Severus, who was sitting by the lake with Lily Evans, looked up sharply as his nose dramatically turned into a beak.

Not a full duck, just the beak. A bigger crowd had formed and they erupted with laughter behind James.

"Real mature, you arrogant toerag." Lily spat, lifting up her best friend to take him to the Hospital Wing. The boys didn't care too much, and continued giggling to themselves.

4. Ancient Runes

This was the first time, in maybe forever, that she was wondering where he was. Lily's eyes lingered on his seat that he always took at the back of the Rune's classroom. It was empty, along with several of his friends, too.

"Miss Evans?" Lily shook her head and looked back to the board. This was always a difficult subject. She knew that James didn't understand it, at least.

Meanwhile...

James was showing off his brand new broomstick to the Marauders. "Guys, guys... watch." And ZOOOOOOOOM - he flew off into the sky, smiling at the eruption of applause. No one would know.

5. Astronomy

When the professor had the class looking through special Omnioculars. Lily smiled shortly, but gasped when a human eyeball appeared on the other side. Pulling herself away, she rolled her eyes at the sight of James Potter.

"Hey, Evans... I just saw our names in the stars."

He beamed, proud of his comment. Lily didn't even look to him, and twiddled her wand through her fingers.

"First of all, my name is Lily. And second, tell Mr. Black that his ways of charming women is lacking a little." James frowned and looked to his friend, Sirius.

He just shrugged, and James did, too.

6. Divination

It seemed like destiny, the way these two crossed paths all the time. Sometimes, though, it wasn't always such a positive meeting. Today was one of those days. Lily Evans left the Headmasters office with a smile on her face, as she had just won a top student certificate.

Her smile faded when she bumped into James Potter waiting outside.

"Got detention, too, Evans?" He said, slouching against the wall with a smug grin.

"Don't be ridiculous. What did you do?"

"Stole a crystal ball from Divination." He looked too proud.

Lily rolled her eyes and carried on, muttering, "Idiot," under her breath.

7. Care of Magical Creatures

"Ta-daaa! Happy birthday, Lily!" James stood, flailing his arms about with a piece of paper in his hands. Lily raised her brow and snatched it off him.

"Adopt a Phoenix?" That was a... different kinda present. James nodded enthusiastically, proud of his present. "Thanks... James." The nineteen-year-old tried a smile.

"You're welcome. I got it cos I remembered once in Care of Magical Creatures, you said it was your favourite animal." Aww! Lily smiled properly this time, showing off her teeth.

"It was my favourite, in third year! But that's so sweet." She giggled, and placed it on the side.

8. Potions

Lily was furious. She was always furious with a certain James Potter. But they were a couple now, so it shouldn't be happening so much. But it was. Pouting in the girls dormitory, another Gryffindor opened the door when a knock was heard.

"Lily!" And of course, it was James. "I... I'm sorry. Here, I made you something." She peered at the contents of his hands. It was a cake with a charmed dancing man on top.

Snooort! Lily let out a faint chuckle at his creativity, "I hope that's a potions experiment gone wrong." He huffed.

Actually, it was blood, sweat and TEARS.

9. Defense Against the Dark Arts

April fools day. Despite James' new outlook on a good behaved life, this was one day he could not resist it. With his girlfriend very much used to this type of play, his trick didn't really surprise her.

"Mucus ad Nauseam!" He whispered round a corner of the common room. Lily jumped backwards, and a long lurgy of snot dribbled down her nose. She looked shocked, until she saw him.

"I hate you." She muttered, through a vacant expression and a loud sniff.

"I love you, too." James lifted his wand and performed the counter curse immediately.

10. Arithmancy

It was no mistake, the Marauders pretty much owned Gryffindor house from fifth year onwards. They were known for mischief, that was certain, but this year... James Potter was going to attempt a different approach. A good-guy approach.

To get the girl.

"What happened to Freya? I thought you liked her." James said to his best friend, Sirius, as the group of friends hung out in the dormitory.

"I've moved on from her, since I found out she was an Arithmancy freak." Everyone laughed, but James.

...
"Lily likes Arithmancy."

There was a sudden audible snort around the room.

11. History of Magic

History of Magic was always an interesting subject, and most pupils thought so. Today's lesson was fairly simplistic, covering the backgrounds of the four Hogwarts founders.

James Potter sat with the Gryffindors, eyes blinking as he quickly glanced at Lily. It was a routine glance, only she caught it this time.

"What're you staring at, Potter?"

An amused grin appeared on his lips. She rolled her eyes, like usual. "I was just thinking about you and me making history one day."

A silly comment, but he wasn't wrong. They were to make history, but for the most devastating reasons.

12. Charms

James Potter and Sirius Black were troublemakers. Everybody knew it, both students and teachers. Almost all the professors actually dreaded teaching the fifth years, in case it was THEIR lesson that they decided to act up in.

Today, Charms was the victim.

"Padfoot, watch this." With a small flick of his wand, the pile of feathers exploded in the professor's face. He spun around in a circle, James looked around smugly as everyone laughed. Mission accomplished.

Lily clapped her hand to her mouth, but let out a small giggle. The first time she had laughed at his jokes.

13. Quidditch

"Buddy, guess what. Evans is coming to today's game." Sirius gave James a small nudge, coupled with a wink. It was rather humorous to see his face drop.

"What? ... But she never comes to our games." Suddenly, James looked down at his quidditch uniform, making sure it was all tidy and presentable.

He wasn't sure what it was about Lily Evans, but she always made James feel like he had to impress her. Not that it EVER worked out in his favour.

"You better be super on form tonight, mate."

Truth was, Sirius hadn't the foggiest clue whether she was ACTUALLY showing up.

Lily was held tightly in her husband's embrace, with their young child nestled between them, as the sound of their front door being blasted open was sending a shudder down each of their spines.

Recognizing their danger, James pulled away from his family and headed for the door.

"James.." Lily said, breathlessly.

"You'll be fine, you'll both be fine." He said, with a single tear streaming down his face. Though, he was sure, even in the furthest back room of the house, he would find them.

Which is why he had to hold him off.

16. Dragonhide gloves

James flexed his fingers, wearing his brand new gloves, as he entered the common room. His long-term crush, Lily Evans, was flicking through a book on one of the sofas. He plopped down in a seat next to her, still flexing.

...

"... What?" She asked, noticing his staaaaaring eyes.

"Nothing... I was just sitting down to admire my new gloves. Do you like them?" He waved them about in her face.

"Great, yeah."

"They're for Quidditch. I made the team... again.

"Please, if you're trying to impress me, save it, Potter. I find members of book club more interesting." Ooh, buuuuuurn

88. Sweet Tooth

".....happy birthday, dear Jaaaaaames. Happy birthday to you!"

The party was in full swing at the Potter residence, everything set to celebration for twenty-year-old James. His wife had brought out his cake and laid it in front of him. He was beaming, but squinting, as he blew out the candles.

After the applause had faded, Lily leaned forwards and stared at James over the top of the cake.

He smiled, but was generally confused.

"Glasses, James." The man rolled his eyes but skulked off to his friends without putting them on.

He had to be COOL at parties, ya know.

14. Hogwarts, A History

'... your parents fought against him. But nobody lived once he decided to kill them.'

"Lils, don't be scared." James voice was shaken, but he was trying to remain positive as he held his wife and son in his arms. "O-One day, we'll all be laughing about this. Near death experience. We'll be ALL over the papers, I tell ya." He laughed shortly, not allowing any tear to escape him.

"James..."

"Hmm?" He patted Lily's red hair.

"I love you."

18. Whomping Willow

"I'm gonna do it, Evans! You watch me!" James bellowed as he ambled through the grounds towards a very historical tree.

"You wouldn't DARE, Potter." Lily mused, though she was aware of his streaks of boastful bravery. That made her worry a little....

The boy just grinned and got closer to the tree with a knife in his hand. The Whomping Willow didn't let him get even a meter towards it, and started reacting.

"Told ya!"

Pfft. He'd never manage to carve their names into the Whomping Willow.

As Lily ran off giggling, James sighed but then dashed off to chase her.
