94- Allergic

This was ridiculous. Completely nonsensical in fact.

He was sitting in a muggle emergency room because he’d taken Tylenol. A medication he’d been assured no-one had allergic reactions too. Yet here Reid was. He’d only had a headache to begin with, and a slightly sore arm from where he’d been hit during one of the stunts. Now however he was much worse.

His hands were swollen, a rash had broken out around his mouth and earlier he’d actually stopped breathing. All because the doctor believed that no-one was allergic to Tylenol. Except Reid, who quite clearly was allergic to Tylenol.

90. Present

Generally Reid loved shopping but today not so much. He’d been in and out of stores for over a week trying to find the perfect gift for Sienna. Only what did you buy for a girl who had practically everything? This was made all the more difficult by the fact that they were no longer together, although Sienna wanted them to be, and Reid had no desire to buy her a present that would intimate that there was hope of them reuniting.

His search for the perfect present had made him loathe shopping and he’d never forgive her for that.

24. House elf

‘I’m your husband, not your house elf,’ Reid groused as Sienna piled more boxes on top of the ones already in his arms. The tower was growing quite large and unstable and she wasn’t done.

Sienna’s response was to shoot him a glare that clearly said, be quiet if you want to get out of this alive, and that had Reid flinching. Whenever she got that look it usually meant someone was mere seconds away from being hexed.

Sometimes Reid wondered why he bothered with her when she was in one of her moods, even when it was his fault.

82. Careful

It was six in the morning when Reid got home and heard his daughter’s cries. Considering she normally woke at five-thirty to torture her parents it really shouldn’t be surprising. But Reid was really in no mood to deal with a baby today, but he was already awake so there was no point in waking Sienna up.

Having trudged up the stairs he just reached the door to the nursery when the cries stopped. A tired smile spread across his face at the sight of his son climbing carefully into his sister’s crib, shushing her gently as he did so.

98. Pajamas

Generally Reid hated wearing pajamas. They made him itchy, hot and got tangled when he slept, indeed the only thing he hated more than wearing pajamas was bath time. Although he couldn’t be blamed for hating bath time, since he’d once nearly drowned when his mother had gotten distracted by Alexander.

Either way by the time Reid was three it was well known that by morning he would have wriggled out of his PJ’s. That’s why it came as such a surprise when Reid demanded that he be bought a Mickey Mouse onesie and actually wore it through the night.

69. Slap

When Reid had told Sienna to slap him for a scene they were rehearsing he hadn’t actually expected her to do it! They both knew that for the scene she wouldn’t actually be making contact. As his throbbing cheek could attest though she had decided to slap him for real, and with quite a bit of force.

Maybe he shouldn’t be so shocked though. They had decided only a few weeks earlier that they were putting their somewhat dysfunctional, yet workable relationship on an indefinite hiatus. Again. He was never again going to suggest that they rehearse violent scenes together.

26. Quill

Reid lounged, as much as one can do so on a hard wooden chair, back and fiddled idly with the quill he was holding. He was playing King Arthur in a mini-series and was waiting for them to get everything set up for the current scene. It was taking a little longer than expected because one of the lights had blown and so they needed to remove the glass from the area and put a new globe in.

Which left Reid with little to do besides fiddle with the numerous props that were going to be used in the scene.

87. Staircase

The sixteen year old stumbled down the staircase of his family home, nearly falling down in his haste. He couldn’t believe what they were doing to him. They were ruining his life! He’d just come home, for once happy to see his parents and they ruined it. They ruined everything!

Every single time when he was actually happy they had to uproot him! He had friends, a girlfriend, a job (which he could technically do anywhere) and now they wanted to send him away to England to live with grandparents he’d never met.

Reid would never forgive them for this.

58. Hoot

Reid looked on in embarrassment as Sienna picked up the stuffed animal that had been sitting on the settee in his sitting room. Sienna raised an eyebrow at him in question, which made Reid blush further. In all the years he’d known her he’d never shown anyone the stuffed animal, not even his parents knew he still had it. If they did Reid was sure they’d make him throw it out, something he couldn’t bear the thought of.

‘His name is Hoot. He belonged to Alexander,’ Reid finally offered up as he gently removed the stuffed owl from her grip.

27. Owl – Continuation of Hoot

Reid rubbed the owl’s wing gently, the furry feeling relaxing him somewhat so that he felt he could actually face Sienna without wanting to die from the embarrassment.

Looking up at her tentatively through his lashes he was just in time to see her expression soften with understanding, and pity, no sympathy, not pity. Sienna would never pity him.

‘My parents got rid of everything else that belonged to him after we moved here from Washington. Hoot is the only thing of Alexander’s that I have left.’ The owl was his only comfort when the nightmares became unbearable for him.

4. Ancient Runes

Reid and Sienna stared at her Ancient Runes homework in confusion, both attempting to figure out where she’d gone wrong. And in Reid’s case what he’d done to lead her wrong. He was the best in his year at Ancient Runes so getting things wrong was unusual for him.

‘I thought you said you were good at Ancient Runes, now I’m even more lost than I was before we started,’ Sienna accused frustratedly.

‘I am good at Ancient Runes,’ Reid assured. ‘Unfortunately for you the author of this drabble isn’t.’

Which is true. I have no idea about Ancient Runes.

12. Charms

When reporters wrote about Reid they said he was a charming young man.

When teachers wrote reports they said he was a charming, polite and prepared student.

When the upper echelon met Reid at his parents parties they always said he was such a charming boy, and wasn’t it too bad that he was already spoken for.

When women were questioned about why they wanted to be on his arm it was always because he appeared to be a real charmer.

Despite his many charms though Reid was not a good boyfriend until he moved from Los Angeles to England.

11. History of Magic

As a Pureblood Reid was accustomed with dealing with actual magic and its history. On this program however he wasn’t doing any of that. Instead he was hosting a show about mere parlour tricks that anyone could learn if they had the inclination to do so.

That being said some of those tricks were impressive, especially considering the era’s that they originated in, and Reid was interested in learning some of them.

Still being the host of History of Magic was not what he’d had in mind when he told his agent that he’d work on a show about magic.

9. Defense Against the Dark Arts

Reid loved Defence Against the Dark Arts because he was naturally good at it. Sometimes however that meant he was bored during his normal lessons, his teacher tutored him outside of class in more advanced spells. Today that was a curse.

It was a perfect Spring day and with a window that looked directly out onto the grounds all Reid wanted was to be outside playing soccer with his friends, or swimming in the pool while it was warm enough to do so. Basically he wanted to do anything but sit in a classroom reviewing material he already had memorised.

30. Feast

There were pumpkin products everywhere. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice-cream, pureed pumpkin, roast pumpkin, pumpkin juice and pumpkin sauce. Basically if you could make it from pumpkins Reid had done so.

Then there was the turkey, potatoes, pea’s and creamed onions. He was attempting to make a Thanksgiving Feast for his family and friends, not that they knew that Reid himself was cooking. Just that he’d offered to have them all over. They assumed he’d hire a chef to make it. But since Reid enjoyed cooking he found that making the feast himself was the best part of this years’ Thanksgiving.

95. Snowball

Last winter Reid and Sienna had taught Valentine how to make a snowball, this Winter they were going to progress to bigger and better things. They were teaching him how to make a snowman. Although since neither of them had done so in years it was turning into a bit of a struggle.

They’d promised Valentine that they’d make one though and so now they had to follow through. The little boy wouldn’t forget the promise, he’d been excited for weeks, especially after watching Frosty the Snowman.

It couldn’t be that different than making a snowball though, just bigger, right?

50. Boggart

At fourteen there wasn’t much that Reid feared, so when the DADA teacher announced that they’d be facing a Boggart he thought nothing of it.

His teacher had awarded him the dubious honour of going last since he was ahead of the rest of them and so Reid’s confidence grew as he witnessed other people’s fears, all of which he could have easily vanquished. That confidence was destroyed when the Boggart turned on him.

To most people it would appear that Reid’s biggest fear was himself, only a select few knew that it actually became his long dead twin brother.

85. Snappish

Reid watched as Sienna fell to the ground before turning and walking away. He had another life now, and it did not involve her being the most important person in it.

Two years later he saw her again. He was snappish at first, wanting to make sure she knew that he was still uninterested in her. He didn’t expect her to snap back at him so fiercely. He didn’t expect her to break down in front of him either.

‘I love you more than she ever could,’ Sienna screamed as Reid went to turn his back on her once more.

29. Pensieve

Pensieves, useful things they were. Too bad that placing your memories in them didn’t make you forget them. Things would be so much simpler if they did, at least from Reid’s perspective. Reid sometimes very much wanted to remember certain people and events in his life, and at other times he would rather not know of them at all.

Which is why he’d placed all his memories of her into his Pensieve after every encounter. They were good memories, and bad, one thing Reid knew for certain was that he didn’t wish for their clarity to fade as time passed.

49. Yule Ball

They were meant to be attending a Yule Ball tonight, indeed it would be the first one either of them willingly missed, but Valentine had joined the Church choir.

So here they were, sitting in church listening to mass and the choir sing carols. And Valentine looked adorable up there singing his heart out, he even had a solo in O Holy Night. Reid had never been so proud of his little boy before now.

So yes they were missing a Yule Ball, but Valentine looked so happy that Reid would gladly begin a new tradition of attending Christmas mass.

53. Chase

She was doing this on purpose, she had to be. Just because they were on a break at the moment, that didn’t mean that she should go out with the one person Reid hated with a passion. And never mind that Reid had technically brought his own date to the party. At least he wasn’t with someone he knew Sienna hated!

‘Screw it,’ Reid muttered and strode towards where she was standing and laughing at that… She was definitely doing this on purpose! She probably wanted Reid to chase after her or something, and he’d give her what she wanted.

35. Pureblood

It was ironic that Reid knew more about the Muggle world than Rachel did. She was a Muggleborn while Reid was a Pureblood so it really should have been the other way around. Yet here he was attempting to teach her how to do things the Muggle way.

Then again it did make sense in a way. Because even though Rachel wasn’t born in the magical world she’d spent the last however many years of her life surrounded by it. Whereas Reid, who had been born into the magical world, spent the majority of his time in the Muggle one.

44. Ford Anglia

Reid looked at the car in shock. She’d bought him a 1946 Ford Anglia E04A. Sure it had been the cheapest four wheel car in Britain in 1948, and it probably wasn’t worth much today but Reid loved it. Old looking cars were his passion, he had a whole collection of them. Cars made in every country, and year up until 1970, with some rare newer models as well.

But he hadn’t gotten around to buying a Ford Anglia yet. Mostly because the newer models looked ugly, and he hadn’t found someone selling older models that were in good condition.

52. Bore

Reid had never been so bored at a press conference before in his life, not even at the political ones his parents dragged him too.

His boredom meant that Reid was taking all of his cues from Sienna, hardly paying attention to the questions the reporters were asking.

Which was why a few weeks later while reading over the interviews he was surprised to see news of his and Sienna getting back together and their engagement included. Technically it was now true but Reid was determined to always pay attention in interviews, even when he was bored, from now on.

34. Parseltongue

Reid loved his snakes, he was always drawn to them, even when he was a little boy and others his age were scared of them. He trusted them for some reason. Maybe it was because he could talk to them if he got to know them well enough? It was the same with all animals actually, which is what had people confused.

At first they classified him as a Parseltongue, but it didn’t quite fit, since he could understand other magical and non-magical animals. Therefore, people found his abilities disconcerting, some even calling him unnatural. Reid just found them weird.

21. Veela

She was more stunning than any girl he’d ever seen before. As stunning as any Veela he was sure. And the amazing thing was that she was his. Despite everything he’d put her through since they’d begun dating she was still with him. And Reid loved her more for that than she’d ever know.

Mainly because whenever Reid had these sappy thoughts he’d mess things up between them due to his lack of being able to deal with being in love. He was learning though, and maybe someday, hopefully soon, he’d be the man the stunning woman before him deserved.
