75. Yodel

“Sheppard’s shouldn’t yodel that close to mountains – what if there’s an avalanche?” Alicia asked Jaxton her eyes wide with shock, as she stood there bundled in her jacket and gloves.

Wrapping his arms around her it was impossible not to feel him laughing. “Alicia it’s not that simple to start an avalanche” he smiled pulling her closer to him.

She frowned. “Sure, sure it’s not that simple but if it were me hand down the avalanche would come and I would be swept off in a drift of suffocating snow.”

“That’s why we don’t let you yodel dear” he laughed.

74.X-Tinguish

Smoke! Fire! She coughed the smoke filling her lungs.

Her apartment’s kitchen was on fire – well, not fully, but there was definitely smoke.

Eyes watering she grabbed a rag off the table and put it over her mouth to stop from inhaling smoke. Taking out her wand she began to part the smoke, there the flames were sparking from the muggle microwave.

Evil contraption of death pointing her wand at the flames she began to extinguish the flames when they had gone away she opened a window and vented the room.

Great. Now she really didn’t smell suspicious at all.

73. Warn

She had to warn him – warn all of them. But this was a hard thing to deal with. One of their own was covering up for someone who had killed another using dark magic. Not accidentally – but on purpose.

“Oh Merlin this isn’t good” the Wizengamot Jurisprudent winced as she glanced over the paper work one more time.

Where was Jaxton when she needed him? Heck, where was Dean for her to snap at for giving her a case on internal reviews – this was sensitive stuff. One false move, and the whole department could come tumbling to a stand still.

72. Vex

Alicia was in between a rock and a hard place when it came to her recent assignment at work. This case is going to drive me to madness she thought for a moment and sighed.

Internal reviews were tough because no matter where you treaded you stepped on toes. And more toes meant more possibilities of people attempting to get revenge.

The idea of people wanting to get revenge on her was vexing. She didn’t want to put Jaxton through that. She didn’t want him to fear for her daily.

He probably did that already without this added on aswell.

71. Untie

The storekeeper untied the laces of the dress before pulling it down over her and situating her into it. Alicia flushed, tears streaming down her cheeks as she saw the dress on her for the first time.

She looked beautiful.

She looked exactly likes he wanted to look when Jaxton saw her walking down the aisle. Flushing she turned to her niece and smiled.

“What do you think?” She asked smoothing out the front of the dress.

“It is beautiful, Alicia I am so happy for you” she smiled as she grabbed a tissue and handed quickly over to Alicia.

70. Teem.

Teeming up on someone was not good. But when it came to teeming up on the girl who couldn’t do sports well that just was equally unfair.

“God, I hate you guys,” Alicia laughed as her childhood friends Mathias and Emeline Chevalier tackled her yet again. They were playing tag.

She was supposed to be it. But the evil best friends always tackled her when she was about to find them.

“No, you love us”

“Yeah you love us” Mathias chimed in with his sister.

“No I don’t love that you pounce on me” still, she knew they were right.

69. Slap

Alicia couldn’t stop giggling and she wasn’t a fan of the sound.

“S-stop it” she twisted away from his reaching hands. “Jaxton stop tickling me!” She squeaked as his hand found the side of her neck and he proceeded to tickle her.

Her hand quickly swatted his away it didn’t work. He still tickled her again laughing. Finally her hand made contact accidentally slapping him.

“Oh Jaxton, I’m sorry” she gasped turning over to him and just laying there. All he did was smile, and wrap his arms around her pulling her against him.

“I love you, and I’ll stop”

68. Roar

The wood stove was roaring. The fire heating the little cabin she had rented to no ends. It was almost too hot even, panting she walked outside into the cool fresh air. It was freezing, well almost.

However the deep guttural roar that she heard outside only made her bolt back in.

“What was that?” She panicked for a moment and looked out of the window – there was nothing out there, nothing or so it seemed. “Alright I’m just going to sit here and…not freak out.” She was panicking just as Jax had told her not to, breath Alicia, breath.

67. Quell


They were absolutely crazy.

Did they not realize that they were using magic in the open? It seemed her former boss had lost a few of her marbles, which was sad since; she was really an amazing woman. One she was definitely going to hope survived this war against the cult.

When it turned out that she couldn’t quell the yells, screams, and complete breaking of the statute of secrecy. She finally, gave up.

Leaving the insanity of the picket lines behind and running off to the safety of her apartment. She just hoped it’d stay that way for good.

66. Pace


He had a longer stride than her, much longer. Every time she tried to walk along side Jaxton Tanner it seemed that Alicia had to quicken and sometimes double her pace in order to be able to.

Panting she was panting like a dog in the hot, hot sun. Sweat dripping down her face as she tried to nearly run along side him.

Suddenly he stopped, put his arm out and grabbed her to hold her still.

“Are you alright? Do you have a stitch in your side? Did you hurt yourself?”

“No, no I’m f-fine” she breathed. “You’re fast”.

65. Ooze

Alicia never drank the coffee in the reception area of Level Two. Magical Law Enforcement Coffee was often better described as oozing globs of tar than it was described as coffee. Still, today she was being brave. Putting some coffee in a cup watched the brown sticky sludge ooze into the cup.

It looked like a black dyed paste.

“Now, lets see” she poured the coffee into a testing tube and marked it to be checked by the lab. It was important right? Check if the coffee in the office was actually coffee or a poisonous gelatinous mass of goop.

64. Nap

Yawning Alicia put her head down on the desk she couldn’t help it. She had worked for ten hours straight on one confusing and utterly complicated case. And now, her eyes were heavy and could hardly open after blinking.

“I’m so tired” she yawned and suddenly yearned for her bed and a good night’s sleep. But that wasn’t going to happen today. Biting her lip she tried to get herself ready to go through some more paperwork.

Nothing was happening. All her mind could think of was the need for a good espresso cup, a double shots, or a nap.

63. Mooch

“Can I borrow some flour?” her neighbor Ingrid asked, again for the seventh time that week. Did she ever go to the store herself? Alicia wondered.

“No, I’m all out Ingrid.” She huffed and made to close the door, but Ingrid didn’t leave she decided to ask for sugar, or butter, or baking soda. What? Was she going to pay Ali in cookies?

No. Of course not, Ingrid always mooched she never did anything else than that.

“Ingrid please leave,” Alicia was nearly pleading.

“You know you aren’t giving.”

“She doesn’t have anything Ingrid” Jaxton chimed in his eyes kind.

62. Lope

Alicia was on sabbatical and trying not to remind herself that her boyfriend Jaxton had been gone for nearly a year. Sighing she turned on the television hugged her knees to her chest and sat there for a minute.

It was on Animal Planet – like it always was.

“Some Antelopes can jump eight feet”.

Pfft. “Why are they called Antelopes…is it anti-loping? No long strides here mat, it’s an Anti-Lope” she rolled her eyes.

Yes she was talking to the television but who honestly cared. Not her.

“Alicia” Kyle called, walking into the room. “ c’mon were heading out today”

61. Kiss

You stand there holding each other’s hands and just waiting for those fateful words. Heart’s pounding, you can feel his pulse quicken as you hold his hands in yours. The ribbons tied around your hands a symbol of your togetherness.

Glancing at the floor you can’t help but try and remember to breath. Your breath hitching as you hear those words spoken.

“You may kiss the bride” and as he leans in to kiss you on the lips and the warms of his breath tickle’s your cheek you wake. Groggy, bewildered, and perturbed that it isn’t reality but only dream.

60. Joke

Alicia was under the impression that every bank in the muggle world was a giant joke. The only bank in the entire world, all of them, that was worth a dime was Gringotts. How much more security could you need?

Dragons could breath fire on you. Eat you, or cause severe damage with GIANT spikes.

Walking into the bank she smiled softly. She smiled thinking if it was worth it to try and say the goblins name. She’d just annoy him anyway. All it seemed they wanted were gold, and diamonds. Pleasantries didn’t seem to be their cup of tea.

59. Ignore


Was he ignoring her? She wondered when she left another message on Jaxton’s phone. Her heart sank.

Had she been too pushy? Had she been going at things a little too slowly? She wondered running her hand through her hair. Eventually she stopped wondering until he reappeared in her life and she finally asked the question.

“No, I was trying to keep you safe” he answered his tone earnest – brushing her hair out of her face. It seemed he was being honest, that he really loved her, and she adored that, because she had never stopped loving him at all.

58. Hoot

Belle her little snowy owl flew around her head as she walked outside in the gardens. Fluffing his feathers and hooting at her, he wanted to play. Bel always wanted to play.

“Bel,” she laughed as she hopped onto her head and launched herself into a tiny alcove all to simply glance out at her.

Thirteen-year-old Alicia just laughed and danced around in a circle – the water on the pavement splashing around her as she danced around. Belle loved it when she danced – the little things on the ground ran away from Alicia’s moving feet and she’d eat.

57. Gaping

There was an enormous hole in her bathroom floor. “Merlin – we need to fix that” she glanced at the hole before standing back the floor lurching beneath her feet.

“Repairo?” She tried pointing her wand at the floor – in a matter of moment’s pieces of tile, wood, and support beam suddenly slammed back into place. The once gaping hole was no longer there. And the sagging floor was suddenly not sagging.

“Oh goodness I thought I’d fall in” she tutted.

“Fall in? Alicia what are you doing?” Jaxton asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

“Fixing things…the floor” she flushed awkwardly.

56. Fighting

The screaming had woken her up again. Sighing she turned to Jaxton who was lying on the bed next to her. “You want to deal with them again or me?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.

Yes, her roommates were having another blow out fight. There wasn’t really any scratching, slapping, or hair pulling going on – it was more name-calling and boyfriend insulting. She sighed, sat up and walked down the hall.

“You two stop it – Raven, Dean is not horrid – Chelsea, Wally isn’t an idiot now go to bed or I’ll sick Jaxton on you.” She finally stood her ground.

55. Egg On


Kyle and Alicia were sitting together; it was a Sunday morning ritual. Going to the Café together and getting coffee. Today was different.

“So – tell me how your date with Simon was?” Alicia asked, glancing over to Kyle.

Kyle flushed, and just began to shift the egg’s she’d ordered on her plate from side to side. She didn’t want to answer? So Alicia egged her on. “Come on, I can tell something happened.” She pressed.

“He kissed me, we might have bickered – and its awkward I don’t want to talk about this until its…I don’t know, a little more solid?”

54. Dare

Alicia was sitting with her little sister’s she was supposed to be baby-sitting them but they were too much to handle sometimes. Jacqueline glanced over to Alicia and smirked, then turned to Aurelie.

“Aurelie I dare you to go and jump on that broom and fly around the house” she knew Alicia would be mad, she was right. She was daring Alicia to stop her as well.

“Now, Aurelie if you so much as touch dad’s broom you will lose all practice wand privileges for a month” Alicia spurned her.

“Fine I won’t but I want to fly” she whined.

53. Chase

UGH. She didn’t know how she’d been volunteered to be a glorified baby sitter. But every summer she had a new kid at her house – this year, it was young Amelia her cousin’s kid. Great. Thank you, extended family for shipping kids off to me.

She was a little grouchy. She didn’t want to have chase after a troublesome little kid. And that’s what Amelia was. She was constantly putting paint or soap in fountains. The girl was a handful.

Chasing her was a workout. “Amelia, I’ve got you” she laughed as she danced with the little girl she’d caught.

52. Bore

Dear god of paperwork this was boring. Slumping over onto her desk she just groaned. Why had she had to be put into this job? The laws, sometimes they drove you mad with exhaustion with all the helpless jargon thrown back and forth.

Inconclusive evidence…how is someone having a dark mark on someone’s arm an example of inconclusive evidence? She hated reading out dated cases new ones were better. Maybe one including Lord Berty Borr the gaseous ex-figurehead Minister of Magic, and a totally bore-less man despite his name.

Pfft. Borr was crazy so wherever he went hilarity always followed.

51. Act

She had to act; she had to do something in order to calm her nerves. She had to act as though nothing was bothering her when it really was.

She felt like screaming. Everything was all wrong.

She sighed, ran her hand through her hair and proceeded to force herself to smile. Her eyes looked dull and listless but that wasn’t noticeable unless you knew her, unless you really knew her every emotion and every flicker of thought.

Jaxton knew her that way, but he wasn’t standing here with her. He was the reason she had to act right now.
