Hello and welcome to the Robes challenges! Our challenges here in the Second Hand Robes, are all crafts done by hand! It can be anything at all, whether jewelry, cakes, sewing. Even if you do a graphic or drawing, it is allowed, just as long as it's not someone else's, feel free to enter it!

For each challenge you will be given a theme, whether it's mascots, muggles, or even the ministry of magic and a certain amount of time to have your project done by.

I'm hoping if we get a lot of interest to start having a poll open once all the crafts are submitted, and voting on everyone's favourites. For right now, feel free to post a picture of your craft here in the thread!

Make a craft using anything that you wish, to create something that represents either all or one of the four houses: Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor!

You can use anything you wish to make it from, whether it's a graphic, picture you drew, something sewn, or even baked! Have fun and think outside the box!!

Once you have finished it, take a picture and post it here in the thread. Feel free to ask any questions here as well!

You do not have to make only one, if you feel creative still feel free to make as many as you wish!

OOOOOoooooooookay, let's start!

I don't have anything new as I didn't find time to do it, but here is the things I made to my Slytherin boy



The robe, the pillow case and the scarf. The pillowcase: this draw I copied from internet and it's hand-painted.The Slytherin crest on the scarf and the robe were printed in a print shop, everything else I made.

My daughter asked me to wave my wand on a trolley... I transfigured it on a school bag, with a Ravenclaw crest hand-painted! Phew!

My anime house drawings

So, these are not new but I've not shown them on here before so I thought I'd post them. Since I made them a while ago, they don't need to be considered for this challenge.. but I didn't have time to do something else this time, sorry.

Anyway, I knitted a couple house scarves. These are obviously Gryffindor and Slytherin. I'm also doing a Ravenclaw one but it's unfinished and I couldn't remember where I put it when I went to take this picture, lol. These two have the wide stripes, but my Ravenclaw one has the alternating wide and thin.. and yes, I am using book canon colors of blue and bronze. One day when I finish that one, I will post it here too. Anyway, these are knitted in the round on circular needles so that it is a tube when finished. Then it is folded flat and the tassels are added on, so it ends up being very thick and double-sided. They're really long too, past my waist.



I know it's not the best picture.. it was pretty dark and the flash distorted the colors a bit.

Oh my gosh Anna and MJ those are both gorgeous! Nice drawings Anna MJ I really wish I had your talent for knitting! I can do some but it never turns out all that well...

I feel like perhaps three weeks would be the best time frame? 2 weeks doesn't seem like enough time, but a month could leave the thread stagnant, especially considering how quickly the rest of the site moves.

I was kind of thinking the same thing Jess...especially those who are making a big project item, it might be too short of a time.

I've changed the date, extending it one week.

Hey, guys! Everything you did is so beautiful that I'm almost giving up! Congrats! I'm wondering if Liza accepts orders of bracelets, Emj accepts orders of scarves - I'd love to have one of them! hehehehe just kidding! and Anna did a good job with her drawings!

I do actually I go to craft shows and sell them as well as make them custom made. I actually just sent a few to Cinn on SS! I agree though on MJ's! I want a Ravenclaw...and maybe Slytherin. I have a Hufflepuff hat and scarf I got at Leavesden....but want a few more houses lol

Lovely drawings, Ivana R and Black Ninja! What materials are you both using? It looks like colored pencils on my computer.. I think I need to draw more, I haven't in a while.

And Liz, that looks really interesting.. can you explain the process you used? Is it like a photo transfer? I have been working on my Ravenclaw scarf this weekend.. it's getting there! I do love knitting but the process takes so long for me..

So, yeah, I wanted to also add that 2 weeks might not be long enough for challenges and I somewhat agree with Jess that maybe a month is too long to leave a thread, though that would be better for me time-wise People likely would forget unless you were able to post in the thread regularly perhaps with tips or something like that to bump the thread and leave it fresh in people's minds. Otherwise, I think three weeks is probably a good compromise.

I am working on the current challenge. I have what I think is a great idea, but I hope it materializes in the way I envision it! I feel like often I have something great in mind, but it doesn't always turn out that way.. Anyway, wanted to let you know I'm working on it, but it most likely won't be finished by Wednesday. I will try, but even if it's not, I will post it when it does get done.

Anna said hers was all done with coloured pencils in that one and I agree! I think both of those drawings are lovely!

I used coloured pencils, so you're right.

I chose drawing as it'd be faster to do than any other thing that crossed my mind.

I can't wait to see what you're doing!
My initial plan was to make the fountain by carving, using molding clay or play dough. It was just amazing in my thoughts!!! Though the sculpted fountain didn't ... So, I drew and it still didn't materialize in the way I envisioned it!

Liza! The photo transfering is so interesting! And the results are incredible, congrats!

Anna, I love the colours you chose! Much interesting the rainbow effect!

Your Dugbog is definitely funny. My kids love it!
May I use it to illustrate one chapter of my fanfiction "Rab's brief story?" There's a chapter where I wrote about Dugbogs attacking Mandrakes.

Well, only tonight I had time to do what I have in mind for this challenge. When I start making it, my kids asked me what I was doing and then asked to see the Challenges. They really love everything we posted here. My little boy loves the Dugbog (and its sharp teeth), my daughter loves Liz's bracelets, Emjay's scarves and Black Ninja's colored "M" of Ministry of Magic.

Oh, and they asked me to join us in this challenge, so I'm posting their sculptures here. I hope everyone like it.

I'm not an artist by any means and am not very good at crafting, but thought I'd share a few creature things that I did for my Harry Potter themed classroom..
