Marybeth smiled as Annie laughed friendily at her once-bug-eyed gecko.

Ivy had to pause to regain her composure. She rasied her wand and made the sharp downward slash and said "Transmorgify" forcefully once more.

When to smoke cleared from her desk she found that she was staring into the eyes of an opaque green goblet. The eyes blinked from the base of the glass and the tongue flicked at her once more; the goblet had a tail as well it was dangling over the rim of the bell of the goblet.

"Oy!" said Ivy as she stared at her goblet. Well it would hold water alright, but would anyone really want to drink from it, no.

"One more time,' she said as she let out a sigh.

OOC: SOrry.

Yuna had taken a deep breath then calmly pointed her wand at the gecko and then she had the image of a water golet, green and red colours were in. She pointed her wand at the gecko and said 'Transmorgify!' The Geckco finally turned into a water gobelt! Yuna Cheers 'Finally!'

:: Ganymede looked.. no more like STARED at the gecko with her fully black eyes. She took a deep breath and focused on the idea that that gecko was to be a water goblet. She slowly raised her wand and stated, "Transmorgify!" The gecko successfully was a goblet. She knew that this year was going to be very different. ::

Terry looks at her pathetic looking water goblet. She waves her wand over it and says "finite incantem". The goblet returns to a gecko. She tries again following the instructions the professor gave. This time she does get a green water goblet, but it has a tall wagging to one side. Once again she returns the gecko to his orignal form and tries again. The third time proves to be the charm. The gecko turns into a green goblet with a beautiful etched red rose design on it. Terry looks over at Lee's goblet. "Oh dear, it was suppose to have gems on it?"

Nadia seems somehow downhearted as took her wand from her pocket. She nodded at the professor's explanation with a weak smile. Now practicing the spell was such a difficifult task with your mind elsewhere. Nadia would keep pointing at the gencko, making it into every time a half globet-gecko creatures, then every time passively and with her eyes blank. Now only that; her pronunciation was weak and quite Spanishy, and would be intercalated by periodic sighing.

It was just the start of the class and she was exhusted.

Annie smiles back at Marybeth. She's so glad to be getting along with someone else.

Arkee stared intently at her gecko for five minutes, working up the courage to try again. She lifted her wand, and took a deep breath.

"Transmorgify!"

This time, only the legs were left, twitching from the base of the goblet. Immensely pleased with herself, Arkee continued multiple times until she had a decently formed (if extremely simple in design) goblet on her desk, motionless like a trophy.

'I have to find a way to combine the last two efforts,' Ivy thought.


She raised her wand and thought hard about the image of the goblet in her mind, a downward slash of her wand and her forceful enunciation of the incantation, "Transmorgify" yeilded the expected puff of smoke.

When the smoke cleared the top of her desk was adorned with a goblet, it was glass, but it was not clear. It was a smoky green color with stripes in red running through it. She had to laugh at the fact that the goblet still had a tail, but this time it was content to wrap itself around the stem of the glass.

"Well, its not perfect. But if you consider that I'm only a first year its not too bad. Not for my first day at this anyway."

That was Ivy's most successful attempt at transfiguring a gecko into a water goblet all day, but she was really pleased with her progress.

ooc: assuming this is after (or before?) the Commons thing...

Anila stared at the gecko in the eye.
"Change into a goblet, please?" she murmured. "Transmorgify."
Her goblet had all the geecko appendixes. She tried again. Headless, but with legs and a tail. Again. Head was back, but the tail and two legs were gone. Once more, and just a tail.
Muttering under her breath, she kept trying.

"Keep trying those of you who are struggling," He encourages. He makes his way back down to the front of class. Stand behind his demostration table he places Terry's gecko which he had scooped up on his way.

"Transfiguration is both simple and complex," He reminds them, "The move practiced, powerful and creative the witch or wizard the better they are at Transfiguration as and art form."

"Watch," he states. He pauses and thinks for a moment. He performs the spell again as the student watch and when the puff of smoke disappears a beautiful crystal goblet is before them. "It looks nothing like the gecko because I am older, and more practice with this spell. Remind magical practice or learning doesn't end when you leave Hogwarts, for you will be doing your entire lifes."

Marybeth hoped she would get to talk to the Gryffindor, Annie, after class. She turned to her ugly goblet. She performed the spell that took away the transfiguring charm and it turned back into a gecko. Focusing again, she said, "Transmorgify!" The gecko turned into a glass goblet that was a little milky-looking, but it was better than the former goblet.

Tao smiled at the professor. She was determined to get it right. Her goblet, though it looked like a goblet and less like a gecko, still had some kinks to work out. But she felt pleased with her effort. This was her first time trying anything like this, and she had at least slightly mastered it. She took a deep breath and raised her hand. "Professor, once we've turned our gecko into a goblet no matter how imperfect," she stated pointing to her particuarly imperfect water goblet, "do we have to wait for it to change itself back or do we need a spell for that?" She asked with a nervous smile.

Once Xavier had managed to make his Gecko go back to normal he decides to have another go at it. "Transmorgify!" he says this time with nothing happening.

:: Ganymede's gecko returned and she was determined to make her next Goblet something special. She heard something about creativity. So, Ganymede herself changed her hair to purple and yellow steaks and blinked her eyes till they were a light shade of purple. "I look creative, now I need to make my transfiguration spell seem more creative." She shook her hair and it went to long and curly.

With her wand rasied she confidently recited the spell, "Transmorgify!" The gecko turned blue and with a small pop and some eerie blue smoke, was a torquiose blue and ruby red goblet with small golden swirls on its base. "Now thats a Goblet!" she mumured with a grin. ::

Jenna stared hard at her gecko. She had been so determined to succeed. "Transmorgify!" she said again, although the change had little effect. Her goblet was a goblet, but it still had a tail and the gecko imprint. She tried once more, no tail, just pattern. Maybe the 6th times the charm... she thought hopefully. Focusing on nothing but the goblet, she said the incantation once more. "Transmorgify!" she cried, not caring however loud it was. There, in front of her, was a normal looking goblet. Sure, the base had a few scales along the bottom, but it was a huge improvement. She smiled, sighing slightly and smiled. "That's more like it!" SHe said, pleased with herself. "Now, to get rid of those scales..." Jenna continued with the rest of the class.

Dru stared intenly at her goblet and then suddenly jumped back. "It moved!" She said to no-one in particular.

Ivy's next attempt yielded a vessel that was closer to a glass tumbler but for the fact that it still had the eyes of the gecko.

Annie scribbles a note on the corner of her parchment. She hands it to Marrybeth. It reads:
I'd really like to get to know you better after class. If you do to, where should we meet up?[I]

"Muggles are so lucky, they never have to worry about having their glassware looking them in the eye," Ivy laughed at the look in the eyes of the gecko/glass. She decided to try once more.

"Try really putting the emphasis on the last syllable, 'Transmorgify' it really helped me. Maybe it will work for you too," Ivy said to Kelly upon seeing her frustration.
