After his first unsuccessful try Xavier says the incantation again. "Variegratus." There was a purple flash and the stone, which had been a green and maroon stone formed itself into a solid goblet of the same colors.

Sitting with her stone in front of her, Joslyn carefully practice the swirl and slash motion before actually trying the spell. She then aimed her wand at the stone and said "Variegratus" during her swirl and slash. The stone quivered but fell back onto the desk. She took a deep breath and cleared her mind for concentration. Once again she tried swirling and slashing her wand saying "Variegratus" the stone quivered then changed into a goblet.

Martha gulps and looks at her rock. After her pitiful wiggling water goblet attempt she didn't even want to try. But knowing that she would never get it if she didn't practice she sighed and hoped for the best as she maneuvered her wand to the incantation 'variegratus'. When the rock slowly transforms into a rugged water goblet, she almost lept out of her seat with excitement. To make sure that it wasn't just beginner's luck, she gets up to get another rock and then tries the incantation again. But alas, the rock only quivers. Encouraged by the success of her first attempt, she says the incantation along with the proper wand movement and watches in awe as the rock changes into another goblet just like her first one. Smiling, she continues to practice, eager to learn more.

Annie sat with her chin on her crossed crossed arms with her wand in her right hand, staring at the rock lying in front of her, pondering. After a few minutes, she raises her head and uncrosses her arms, and performs the spell. She did the correct wand motions, "Variegratus." A few seconds later, she had a stone pitcher sitting in front of her.

Kylie stared hard at her rock and tried to concentrate, though she kept thinking about the sad excuse for a goblet she'd transfigured a few minutes ago. "Variegatus" she said firmly and hopefully. The rock quivered slightly but then fell still again. "Variegatus" she said again, causing the rock to shake harder but still nothing. One more time, she though to herself, "Variegatus" she said with such determination that her rock actually managed to turn into what looked like a pitcher that was missing it's top half. Oh well, she figured that was better then how the goblet had turned out!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Elijah Wilde Graduated | Farmer Carter | | Ama's Secret Lee decided to miss this spell out this lesson. He just didn't feel liek doing it, he was recieving to many odd and dangerous looks and he didnt like it. He sat playing with his quill scribbiling on a spare piece of parchment, waiting for the lesson to end and so he could go speak to Professor McAiken in private.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sirius Potter Fourth Year | Gryfflepuff "Great job, you can reverse the spell and place the stones on your desk. You have practice two transfiguration spells in this lesson and done well. Your homework is the following:
1. Write two paragraphs comparing and contrasting the spells used today. Each paragragh should be longer than 5 sentences, but no longer than 10. One element you need to address is the the latin root words that give us the incantations we have use in today's lesson. You also need need to give detailed description on how each spell is performed via the other. In conclusion I expect to you to give an assement of your own ability to perform the spells.
You assignment will be due on May 20 at 11:59pm GMT/ 6:59pm EST. If you have questions please see me in my office at a later time. Your homework is worth 25 points.
2. For extra credit: Keep a journal of you outside transfiguration practice. Your practice must take place in the empty classroom I'll open for you. You can practice with others but the journal entry must be your own. To reach full credit you must post in the classroom and do the journal. You will recieve 1 point for the journal entry and 1 point for the practice in the classroom. You have six days so the highest extra credit total will be 12 points. It is due at the same time as your homework.
McAiken then dismissed the class.
OOC: Great class, thank you all.
