Lesson #4 Professor Virohsa opens up the classroom once more, smiling, as she waits for her students to pop inside. She walks to the middle of the room, where she spreads her lecture notes. The plants are already covered, hidden. The pitchers and essential equipment is to the left. Nodding to herself as she checks the materials in her mind, she sits down and waits for the class to start. |
Dru strolled into the classroom to find that she was the first person there. She made eye contact with professor Virohsa and smirked. 'Ama had better turn up,' She thought as she flung her back down and sat on the table. |
Erica entered the classroom to find it relatively empty, save Dru and Virosha. She silently took a seat in the middle of the classroom and repeated the ritual of pulling out her materials in preperation for class. She then leaned back in her seat, thinking very hard about something. |
Nadia found a seat in the back. She took her stuff out and put it aside on her desk. And she looked a bit wore out. |
*came in and smiled at the professor, found a seat and sat down* |
Llewellyn meandered into the classroom. Spotting Erica, he quickly found himself a seat nearby her. The Hufflepuff slowly started removing things from his backpack, setting them down in front of him. I wonder which deadly and poisonous plant we will be studying this week... He thought to himself. |
Laurasia entered the classroom, books in hand. "Good day, Professor," she chimed with a small smile. She turned to find a seat & spotted Nadia & Llew in the rows. She smiled & waved to both before taking a seat as well. She noticed all of the covered objects in the room & assumed that they were the plants that they would be working with during this lesson. "I wonder if we will be working with nocturnal plants this lesson," she thought to herself. She pulled out her quill & some parchment & then turned her attention to Professor Virohsa at the front of the room. |
Zekk enters the class and sits towards the front. He hopped this would be an interesting lesson.. |
Kay entered the classroom and sat down next to Zekk. She took out her materials for class and awaited the start of the lesson. |
Amaris walked into the classroom and spotted Dru. She smiled at Erica and Kay and nodded at them. She decided to take a seat by Dru. "Howdy partner in crime," she remarked playfully. Amaris spotted Nadia also and waved at her briefly not wanting Virohsa to turn on her and start reprimanding her for breaking who knows what rule. |
Jamie walked into the classroom lazily and sat down at a table and set out some parchment and quills, and waits for the lesson to start. |
Professor Virohsa nodded at the children, smiling a bit towards Laurasia and Llew. "Good morning, class!", she said at a quicker pace. "I hope all of you are ready for our next session", she nodded. "We shall wait a tad longer to see if any other students show up. Then we will begin", she smiled. |
Liam walked into the room spotted Amaris and sat next to her "hey Ama how ya doin'" |
Xavier walks into the greenhouse and sits down in the back, preparing for the class. |
Ashlie wandered into the classroom, taking a seat towards the back. |
Anna walked into the class room and found herself an empty desk near the middle of the room. "hi everyone" she said as she sat down. |
Mark took out some parchment and a quill and waited for professor Virohsa to begin the lesson. |
Xavier digs through his bag, but can't find a quill anywhere. He looks to the closest person to him, Ashlie, the Ravenclaw prefect. He whispers to her: "Hey, can I borrow a quill?" |
:: Ganymede strolled in with a big smirk on her face. She sat down and pulled a notebook out. She also grabbed a new pen she had just bought recently in Hogsmeade. She looked about the room and waited, still smirking. :: |
Anna got her quill and a bottle of ink and set them neatly on her desk. she pulled out some parchment and waited for class to begin. she glanced at the clock. "should be starting any minute now." she said to herself. |
Jerry walks into the classroom and sits at a desk in the middle of the class. He pulled out some parchment and a quill. |
kasandra walked into the class room. she looked at her class mates and sighed. she walked up to jerry. "you mind if i sit with you" she asked |

kass smiled and sat down. she brushed her silver hair over her sholder and took out a quill and a piece of parchment |
Professor Virohsa nodded when all the students were inside. "Good Morning class! Today we shall be studying a very common plant and its uses", she smiled. She waved her wand, so that one of the blackboards slid down from the ceiling and showed the picture. "Who can tell me which type of plant this is? I want to know the family and the name of this particular plant", she nodded. Quote:
|
:: Ganymede raised her hand, "Are they Cherry Blossoms?" She asked. :: |
Nadia raised her hand almost immediately, she was sure she knew this one. ooc: you know, make it look Nadia didn't say anything  I mixed them up and said Nadeshiko instead of Sakura. So. This is embarrassing, I prefer not speaking *zips it* (Even, if you want, erase this post =P) |
Llewellyn raised his hand to reply, "It is a cherry blossom professor. This particular kind is known as a shidare zakura. The taxonomic classification is rosaceae prunus kiku-shidare zakura." |
Professor Virohsa nodded as Ganymede spoke. "Yes, dear. But I was looking for the technical terms...". She turned her attention to Nadia and shook her head. "No dear, that is a muggle term for an animation", she said with a comforting tone. Turning her attention to Llew, she nodded. "Very well! 6 pts for Hufflepuff", she smiled. "Who can tell me about their habitat?", she asked the class. |
Serena raised her hand,"I would say it is either the Japanese flowering cherry - Prunus serrulata or the Higan cherry - Prunus subhirtella." |
Serena added, "By habitat, do you mean country like Japan, or as general as a garden?" |
ooc: Actually, Nadeshiko is another flower Nadia raised her hand again, blushing from her previous mistake, "it's found in wet grassy places, especially by rivers, in lowland all over Japan. The habit is described as deciduous." |
Quote:
|
"Well, they're Japan's national flower, even if they aren't native to Japan, if you mean that," Ashlie said. "They can be kept as gardens, too. Japan passed on the gift of them to George Washington of the United States as well. Do you mean that, or like temperature?" |
Llewellyn paged through his book and raised his hand again, "Professor, ornamental cherry blossoms are simply cherry trees whose flowers have been altered through hybridization over the ages. The stamens of the flowers that grow on ornamental cherry trees have been replaced with extra petals, causing the tree to become sterile and produce only flowers and no cherries. At any rate, cherry trees, and their resulting blossoms, grow in tropical and subtropical climates, require very detailed care and only flower for a very small amount of time, typically no longer than a week or a week and a half. Cherry trees require wet habitats and soft, nutrient rich soil." |
Professor Virohsa nodded. "Well, I was looking for a more broad description. Such as its habitat is usually a mountain area. But yes, Llew, Nadia, and Ashlie are correct. 2 pts for each of you". "Who can tell me what their height usually is?" |
"The larger types of cherry blossoms can grow to 20 feet tall" said Serena. |
Professor Virohsa nodded, "Very well! 3 pts for Gryffindor. And what is the lowest height it can have?", she asked the class. |
Nadia raised her hand, "15'." |
kass listened to what everyobne said |
Professor Virohsa shook her head. "No, it is about 13 feet. Very well, let's move on. As previously stated, the family name for this plant is the Rosaceae and its category is Prunus. Within this category, cherry blossoms have 6 other types. Can anyone name them?", she asked the class. |
Kay raised her hand. "There is the Yoshino Cherry or Prunus x yedoensis; the Okame Cherry or Prunus x 'Okame'; the Akebono Cherry or Prunus x yedoensis 'Akebono'; the Kwanzan Cherry or Prunus serrulata 'Kwanzan'; the Fugenzo Cherry or Prunus serrulata 'Fugenzo'; the Shirofugen Cherry or Prunus serrulata 'Shirofugen'; the Higan Cherry or Prunus subhirtella var. pendula; the Autumn Flowering Cherry or Prunus subhirtella var. autumnalis; the Sargent Cherry or Prunus sargentii; the Usuzumi Cherry or Prunus spachiana f. ascendens; and the Takesimensis Cherry or Prunus takesimensis." |
Professor Virohsa looked at Kay proudly. "Very well! 15 pts for Ravenclaw", she nodded. "Now, can anyone tell me why we are studying such a common plant?", she asked the class. |
Llewellyn raised his hand hesitantly, "Because the plant has unbeknowest magical as well as important properties, professor?" he asked a little unsuredly. |
Professor Virohsa shook her head. "I understand why you would think that, since a lot of plants have magical properties.. But no, in this case, this is an extremely common plant", she nodded. "Yet, it does have something to offer that you can learn from.. And that is what we will start with today. Any other ideas?" |
Laurasia raised her hand & smiled. "Could it be it's medicinal properties, which are extensive? They include the treatment of diarrhea and pulmonary complaints. Some used Wild Cherry Bark in tea form to ease labor pains. European settlers used Wild Cherry Bark in cough syrups and as a poultice for abscesses and ulcers. Wild Cherry Bark is still used as a cough suppressant, especially in cases of bronchitis, whooping cough, and asthma. It contains prussic acid, which is known to calm the nerves associated with the coughing reflex. Wild Cherry Bark has been used in several cough suppressant formulas, often combined with Coltsfoot and Horehound to combat whooping cough, and with Meadowsweet and Marshmallow Root to fight dyspepsia. It is also used to sooth the after effects of allergy attacks. Wild Cherry Bark also has antioxidant properties, and is being investigated as a possible support agent in fighting cancer and the pain associated therewith. Wild Cherry bark has also been used, in combination with Sarsaparilla, as a blood purifier. The constituents of Wild Cherry include cyanogenic glycosides including prunasin, volatile oil, benzaldehyde, coumarins, resin, tannin, benzoic acid, gallic acid, resin, the enzyme prunase, and starch. The cyanogenic glycosides make Wild Cherry a powerful cough remedy. Prussic acid sedates the sensory nerves which provoke the cough reflex. Because of its sedative properties, it is an effective treatment for bronchitis, whooping cough, and racking coughs from cold as it loosens phlegm in the throat and the chest. The glycosides and volatile oil contained within Wild Cherry Bark also serve to improve digestion. An infusion of the bark has been used as an astringent in diarrhea or an eyewash when the eyes become inflamed. Wild Cherry may also be helpful against cancer. Scientists realized that the dark coloring material of wild cherries is a source of anthocyanins. The antioxidant activity in cherries is even greater than that of vitamin E. Wild cherries also contain pain-relieving compounds and a surprisingly high level of melatonin, a hormone previously believed only to be produced by the brain. As Wild Cherry may have anticancer properties, more research is being done to study the use of cherries in alleviating the pain of cancer." |
Kay raised her hand. "In addition to its medicinal properties, the blossoming of the Cherry Tree heralds the coming of Spring and the end to cold winter nights. The trees are in full bloom for up to 10 days, and there are many cultures in the Muggle world that celebrate this event. The cherry blossom has symbolic meaning as well. To the Japanese Muggle culture, fallen and scattered cherry petals signify death while the blooming cherry blossoms symbolize rebirth." |
Anna took out a note book and quill and started to take notes on what the Professor and her fellow students were saying. Writing as fast as she could she managed to catch most of what Professor Virosha was saying. |
:: Ganymede never was good at this whole Herbology thing. She only knew cherries for their pie. She noticed that niether had said that so she raised her hand, "Another property of the tree is the fruit.. which is made into pies!" She said with a side smile. :: |
Amaris scribbled as rapidly as she could, trying to get as much information as possible down. She looked up and couldn't help but let out a few guffaws at Ganymede's answer. Amaris, realizing what she had done, turned scarlet and sank into her seat suddenly finding her notes extremely intriguing. |
Llewellyn narrowed his eyes at the professor and further narrowed them at Laurasia. In this case it is an eextremely common plant... Hello. Where are we? Oh yes, I remember a magic school! He thought to himself contemptuously, Didn't we just get through asking to discuss the magical properties of plants, considering this is herbology and not botany? Llewellyn sighed and resigned himself to the inevitable boredom he would experience in this class. He quietly took out his quill an dbegan absently writing. |
Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very well! 3 pts for Laurasia", she smiled. She didn't give Kay any points because she simply repeated the answer she was trying to get. "Since herbology deals directly with the use of plants and medicine, medicinal purposes/traits is the right answer. But, we aren't going to focus on the different types of medicinal benefits. That will be your homework. Today, we will work carefully with different types of Cherry Blossoms and combinations. I want you to either work in pairs or alone. Please gather only one type of Cherry Blossom. This will be important for your homework, so note which one you grabbed", she told the class in a clear and loud tone. "The blackboard will illustrate which types you can choose from, so choose carefully. After you have grabbed your plant from the front of the class return to your seat", she smiled. Quote: |
Ooc- You can choose from these ones too Quote: |
:: Ganymede looked at each, she picked the one she found nicest. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77...rakawanioi.jpg She then sat down and looked closely at her choice. :: |
To be quite honest, all looked beautiful. From one to sizx, teh sight was overwelming. Or maybe she just liked pink. Fnially, as if watching 3 and 4 as it this was going to be one difficult decition, she pikde number 4. Only because 3 made her think of that candy, sweet cotton, and it was making her hungry. Sitting back at her desk with a pot of this flower, Nadia statred ahead waitnig for the professor to give further instructions. On the part of getting a partner - Nadia had no problems working in pair as she had working alone, so she just waited. |
|
Llewellyn walked to the fornt of the classroom and grabbed the #4 cherry blossom. Walking back to his seat he sighed heavily and sat down. |
Dru finally zoned back into the lesson and copied the notes that Ama had written down. "Oh joy, plants." She said quietly to her friend. "Boring." |
Laurasia got up to look through the different types of plants that she had to choose from when she noticed the look that Llew was giving her. Her head swam in confusion & this reflected in her face. He looked rather annoyed with her, yet she couldn't imagine why that would be. Not knowing what to think, & feeling suddenly uncomfortable with this seemingly unprovoked reaction from a person that she had begun to consider a friend, she simply mouthed "What did I do?" as she walked past his desk. When she reached the plants she scanned through them slowly, getting a feel for each of them. Being drawn to the 1st plant (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../amanogawa.jpg) the most, she picked one of them up & returned to her desk. |
The Cherry tree has been used in symbolism as love, and it is also used in Divination. The wood has been used for wand making, and the fruit even has medicinal properties. For one, it is a natural diuretic and can be used to help those with gout. The acerola cherry is also a source of vitamin C. |
Professor Virohsa smiled. "Good, now I want you to decide which of the two exercises you will complete. In one hand, you will brew tea.. Or you will brew a meal of sorts. The reason why I'm having you decide and why we are doing these two is because part of herbology also entails knowing potion-making and common sense. I want you to get a feel for these domains when using plants, so we are using harmless plants today. Next class, however, we will use a tad more dangerous plants", she told the class with a small grin. "You will find the plates, pots, and such to your left. Remember, pay attention to detail!", she said severely. "I want you pay attention to your book and its instructions. Turn to page 315 on brewing tea from plants and 340 on making meals with plants. Also, the end result should look like this.. but it may vary according to the plant color and type you have chosen", she said as she pointed at a third Blackboard. Quote:
|
Llewellyn raised an eyebrow at the Professor's instructions. Shrugging to himself he turned to his left and gathered a few things, then returned to his station. Llewellyn first grabbed a pair of shears and severed the stems from the flowers, then washed them thouroughly. The boy then set his flowers in a large bowl and covered them with salt then sprinkled a few spoonfuls of plum vinegar over them, covered them, and set them aside. Wondering how she expected them to pickle them within the class period, he sighed and tapped his fingers on his desk. To Llewellyn's amazement however the pickling container he had set his flowers in, within minutes had completely dehydrated his flowers. The boy then waved his wand, creating a small flame, upon which he set a large kettle of water. While waiting for his water to boil, he finished cleaning his now completely dry flowers. When the water came to a boil, the hufflepuff mixed his flowers in with some already available green tea, and prepared his tea, setting it in front o fhim when he was done. |
Nadia listened and nodded, having present what Lauracia had told her, and eyeing the blackboard3. Nonetheless, Nadia prefered solos and all of it. Just the way she made things when it came to potions. But sadly, it was also true that her potion skills were quite better than her cooking. What happened with cooking is that the intructions were especifics and she always turned to have forgotten the oil over the saucepan, or took the wrong bowl or basin, she really was in need for a common cooking book! Taking at least one of each, the pots, plates and everything she could find, and went back to her table. Tea couldn't be too difficult. She had made herself tea every so often. Nonetheless.... "Lauracia, would you like to be my partner?" she asked. If there was a person in this room who would know not to make a mistake here, was the first year student. "Let's do the tea first, then the cooking, right?" she added as she put the water to boil over a bluebell flame. Yes, she wanted to do both, but not at the same time. |
Arkee eyed the Hufflepuff boy warily as he dried his cherry blossoms and boiled them in a kettle. "Something," she muttered to herself, "is not quite right about a person who carries salt and weird liquids to classes, and has them ready at hand. It's convenient, too convenient." Arkee watched the boy with a suspicious glare, and twitched her nose for good measure. |
Peony was, quite frankly, rubbish at Potions. She was impatient, and she had this crazy fear of knives that prevented her from chopping the ingredients up as finely as they needed to be. So she sat there, silently, wincing internally at the thought of the scolding she would no doubt receive at the end of the class. |
Serena turned to page 315 to start brewing tea from the flower of the cherry tree. She chose flower number 3 because she liked the hint of pink and the many petals of that particular flower. She gathered a pot, some water and utensils and started brewing her tea. |
Dru stood up and grabbed two plants, not noticing or caring what they looked like, and returned to her desk placing one infront of Ama. She listened to the professor talk but when Dru had found out that they were to make tea with the plants, she couldn't help but let out quite an audiable snigger. "She's lost it," Dru said to Ama as she got her herbology book out of her bag. Flicking through the pages she asked, "Flower tea or mush in leaves?" |
Quote:
Quote:
"How are we supposed to turn this," said Amaris her nose still wrinkled and brow furrowed as she picked up the plant before her. "Into tea? We're not going to drink it are we? I have had enough bad experiences with these Professors making us ingest things..." Amaris pondered the idea of making a meal but gagged. She figured they were a whole lot safer with tea. "Tea...I mean how bad can it be? We boil some water, throw the leaves in there. Let it boil for a while." Ama shrugged and laughed. |
Professor Virohsa walked around the class to supervise the students. As she walked around, she heard a student laughing. Turning her attention to the Gryffindor girl, she frowned and walked towars Amaris. "Something particularly important that you want to share with the class, girl?", she asked as she crossed her arms. |
Dru looked up and smirked at the professor who had just come over to talk to Ama. "We were debating wether to have pollen infested tea or mush for our evening meal," She said to Virohsa, trying her best not to laugh. |
Quote:
Rats! She thought. Not again. "Erm..." Quote:
|
Quote:
"If you don't hurry fast enough, you will lose Slytherin points, child", she said very matter-of-factly. |
Laurasia smiled when she heard what the professor wanted them to do for classwork. She definately shouldn't have any trouble with this assignment. She was getting ready to begin when she heard Nadia ask to be her partner for the class. She looked up & smiled brightly. "Sure, I'd love to." She gathered her plant & the rest of her supplies & took them over to where Nadia was sitting. "I only ask that we use my Amanogawa plant for the first part, only because i think that it makes a smoother tea." She smirked at Nadia slightly. "I think that this plant has enough blooms on it for us to make a perfectly lovely fresh-blossom tea. Can you please start taking a large sum of the flowers off of the tree please. Since we're going to be using fresh petals we'll need quite a lot of them." She pulled a very small pair of what looked like pinking-shears out from her bag. "Here, use these on the flowers delicate stems. You want to make a clean cut, without tearing the blossom from the plant. It may damage the plant if you don't." While Nadia began to gather the blossoms Laurasia grabbed a clean pitcher from one of the shelves & filled it with water. She placed the end of her wand into the pitcher of water and stated firmly "Relashio". Immediately the water began to boil. She then pulled out a medium-sized pestal & mortar while turning towards Nadia. Seeing that she had already collected quite a number of blossoms she let out a little chuckle. "Oh goodness, thank you Nadia. We didn't need quite that many, but we can always make some scented spritz-water with the rest of them." She smiled & put a couple of handfuls of the blossoms into the pestal. She very gently used the mortar to just barely bruise the petals. Looking over at Nadia's curious expression she replied, "This will help them to release their beneficial oils. You just have to be sure not to bruise them too much." She then placed the blossoms into the pitcher of boiling water & covered it with a larger dish. "Keeping the tea covered while it brews stops it from losing its beneficial oils during the steeping. The steam, containing the oils will gather on the bottom of the dish & end up returning to the tea." After about 10 minutes, Laurasia uncovered the pitcher & a strong, pleasant floral smell came from the water. She smiled at Nadia. "Okay, now we need to remove the steeped blossoms." She grabbed a sifted from the shelf, along with another clean pitcher. She placed the sifter above the new pitcher & poured the contents of the tea into it, while the sifter caught all of the excessive plant matter. "Okay, now we can pour some out." She poured two glasses of the tea & added some fresh flower blossoms to float on top of the tea. Smiling, she handed Nadia her glass of tea. "Enjoy. If you prefer a sweet tea, you can always add a bit of honey to it." She clanked her glass against Nadia's in a toast & sipped her own tea slowly. "Oh, before I forget." She waved her wand at the pitcher of tea & stated the incantation "Relashio Infinitae". The water began to steam, as it would now until the tea was gone. |
Nadia nodded at the first request, having no objections to it - Lauracia was the expert. At the second, she started taking the flowers off, considering that it may be a more humane way if the only took the petals... but then again that could be just the contrary. Gardeners cut it all off for a reason, right? Right it was, and this girl was on her element when she pulled out a pair of special scissors. Wondering what was too much and what too little, she placed a small pile of flowers over the table as Lauracia spoke more intructions. Indeed, she seemed to have taken a bit over needed. Oh well. She was already wondering what they would need spritz-water for and how that was made. The rest looked like potions. The petals were to be crushed, it seemed, not only left to rest in the water. Nadia was curious, principally because she had never done this ever and the prospect of drinking scented water looked like a different experience. Her mother never cooked (as if she had the time) and most of the food she ate was bought as if already made. She wasn't complaining, the cook did put a lot into the meals. But well. That included tea, which she always made with tea bags and barely wondered how they got its scent. In all honest Nadia drank of the common type, her preference. Back to pay attention to the actual proceeding (Well, needless to say, if this was potions her distraction could have caused a bit of a problem here. She needed to stop with the daydreaming. Not even sure where these thoughts came from anyways.) Seemed it wasn't tyhat needed, her attention. Lauracia had covered and uncovered the tea and took care of most of the steps, allowing Nadia to watch. Less probabilities I mess up, Nadia thought. Lauracia even took care of the arrangements. Nadia was surprised to find herself holding a cup of tea with a Cherry three blossom floating in the drink and even tended to keep it warm. Not for the first time, Lauracia made Nadia blush. "Thanks," she managed to say. The most she had said in all the proceedings. She was starting to feel a bit dumb. |
Quote:
Once the tea was boiling, almost finished, she started clearing away the small bit of mess that she had created. She looked over at Ama's creation and gave her a small smile that said 'I'm glad I'm good at potions'. Only then did she turn around to acknowledge Virohsa. "Anything else professor?" She asked in a sarcastically sweet voice with a smile that matched, knowing that she was going to get an unpleasent job seeing as she hadn't made a single mistake making her tea. ooc::P |
Professor Virohsa frowned the whole time. She had made snide comments her eand there about her ability to pluck petals or boil water.. but the girl had managed to make the tea. It wasn't after she was done, that Professor Virohsa came closer and looked at the tea. "Taste it, I want to know if it turned out allright", she said as she looked at Dru curiously. |
Dru poured some tea into a cup and gently sipped it, making sure that she didn't burn her tongue. She waited for a few moments before saying, "Well I'm not poisoned. It's not my favourite drink but its better than most teas you get." |
when sushant barges in and blurts out sorry im late but see this is my first class and knocks poor prof virhosa over oops gotta go:bye: and runs away to the quidditch pitch |
Professor Virohsa was about to say something when a student barged inside the lesson. Frowning, she saw the student run towards her and push her. "That's it! 15 pts from Gryffindor", she snapped. She saw the student run away immediately. Frowning, she watched the student run away and turned her attention to Dru. "Don't worry.. you still have more tasting to do" |
Dru kept a straight face and nodded but as soon as she moved her head so her face was away from the view of the professor, her face broke into a large grin and she laughed silently to herself. She very very quietly sung a bit of a childrens song to herself but with changed words, "...And if one Virohsa should accadently fall..." |
Amaris bit her tongue and decided to focus on making tea out the forsaken plant. She followed the instructions on the board to the letter however worked slowly. Ama wanted to make sure she got it right. Potions wasn't her best subject and it wasn't like they were getting a lot of lessons this terms anyways. Amaris watched Dru sip her tea and Virohsa get all huffy. Quote:
|
Laurasia smiled, pleased with the tea that was now being kept warm on the table that she & Nadia were working at. "Okay, so now we can get started making the meal to go along with the tea right? Why don't you handle this one while I watch." She blushed a bit. "Sorry that I basically took over the project. I just love making tea & herbal concoctions. I won't do it again. I'm just so excited to actually be working on an herbal infusion in class that i kind of got caught up in the moment. Go ahead, I won't get in your way." She smiled sweetly. Suddenly she noticed the Gryffindor student come barging into the classroom & knock the professor over. She stood up immediately & glared at the student as he ran back out of the class. "Can't we have just one class where someone doesn't freak out or some other such thing?" she thought with great annoyance. "Are you okay Professor Virohsa?" |
Professor Virohsa nodded towards Laurasia. "Yes, dear. That student.. simply lacked manners", she nodded. As she was about to walk over to Nadia and Laurasia, she heard loud giggling once more. Turning around, she frowned as turned to Amaris. "Why are you laughing now!?", she snapped. |
Quote:
"Well Dru and I were just sharing some songs we wrote for you Professor Virohsa and how much we esteem you and what wonderful job you do as a Professor." |
Professor Virohsa raised one of her eyebrows. "Really? Well, that's interesting. Come to the center of the classroom and sing them", she told them sharply. "Both of you", she narrowed her eyes. It was quite obvious they were lying, but if they wanted to do so, she would make sure they would do it. |
Amaris shouldn't have been amused by all this. She knew that much but apparently the giggles had taken over. She nodded at the Professor and walked to the middle of the classroom. Ama curtsied and waited for Professor Virohsa to introduce her. When the Professor didn't Ama coughed twice. "Um..a little introduction please?" |
Professor Virohsa frowned. "Class. This Gryffindor trouble-maker, Amaris, will perform a song for all you. And she will be accompanied by another Slytherin trouble-maker, Dru", she said slowly as she barely moved her lips. She was obviously annoyed. |
Amaris smiled sweetly at the Professor and bowed her head. 'Hello fellow students. I think I'll start off singing: "My Professor has a first name." She cleared her throat and glanced over at Dru who hadn't managed to get herself up to the front of the class. Amaris smiled at her. She's so going next. "My Professor has a first name it's I don't have a clue," she sang tapping her foot against the floor to the beat inside her mind. "My Professor has a last name it's Vi-r-h-o-s-a!" Ama smirked and stood up on the Professors desk knocking over some plants that were on the way. "Now for the remix!" She shouted took of her robe. "Don't cha wish Virohsa was hott like me. Don't cha wish Virohsa was a freak like me? Don't cha?" Amaris popped it twice and jumped off the desk only to continue dancing between the desks of the poor students. "Don't cha?" She continued to sing and crawled on Nadia's desk. She stood up shook her booty briefly before jumping off it again. "Don't cha wish Virohsa was wrong like me? Don't cha wish Virohsa was fun like me?" At this line Amaris picked up a plant and started dancing with it and using it as a microphone. Amaris smirked as she thought of another song she could twist to her own devious needs. "What's the sense in taking this one and boring class?" Amaris sang into the long and lanky looking plant. "You count up the plants and she will make you make yucky tea!" Amaris threw the plant at Peony and proceeded to dance around her and mess up her hair. "Say I won't take this class a thousand times a day but always end up in here anyways. Young hearts, run away! Never come back, never come back like I do!" Amaris twirled and started jumping from desk to desk knocking plants, tea and plant mush all over the place. She was sure she got some student dirty but didn't care. Ama was too caught up dancing and singing. "Woo!" Ama exclaimed and started doing the cha cha slide. "Young hearts! Run away! Never come back!" Amaris giggled and ran towards the front of the classroom where she did a split and jumped back up. "Ta-da!" Amaris finished panting. "And that..Oh So Esteemed Professor Virohsa is what I was laughing about." Amaris blinked and groaned. "Oh no..." She had managed to get herself in trouble again but....not if you don't stay. Amaris giggled like a mad woman and ran out of the classroom. |
Professor Virohsa had grown tired of that Gryffindor Girl. "Detention!", she snapped at her as she ran away. Crossing her arms, she turned to face Dru. "Would you like to join her in detention as well and skip the dance?", she asked her in a threatening voice. |
Dru gave Ama a 'I so can't believe you!' look as she walked to the middle of the class. After hiding her head in her hands she watched Ama run out of the class. 'Thats it, just leave me,' she thought. Not wanting to start dancing around like Ama, Dru decided that a public apology would be best. "I'm very sorry for acting up in your class Professor," She began in a very somber tone, as if she really was sorry. "It is very wrong of me and I should pay more attention to Herbology. Please may I sit down now?" |
Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very well, sit down child. I hope you have learned your lesson", she said as she started to move on to other tables. She looked over what they were doing and nodded from table to table. |
Dru went and sat back down keeping a straight face but feeling very smug by the fact that she had gotton away with it. |
Diana was obviously not her best mood. She choose number 3- in which she had hoped the beautiful blossom would cheer her up a bit for it. She took her some of her blossom leaves and crushed them. She was thinking about how her week had gone wrong, when noticed minute later she realized that she was overdoing it, or so she thinks. Look like a near-mush to her... "Erm, professor Virohsa? Does this look okay? I think I may have over-did it." |
Professor Virohsa looked at the Diane's leaves. "Oh dear.. Please grab another plant", she told her. "Take your time", she smiled. |
Laurasia scowled very obviously at the antics of the Gryffindor student. "What in Merlin's name is wrong with people?!" she thought to herself. She looked over at Nadia with obvious disgust on her face. "Excuse me for a moment Nadia. Since you're going to begin the meal part of the assignment, I'm going to help clean up the mess that Gryffindor just made of our classroom." Laurasia went to the back of the room & pulled out a bucket of soapy water & a mop. She began to mop the areas of the floor that had spilled tea & food on them. She pulled out a cleaning rag & began to clean the desktops as well. She headed over to the professor desk, as she knew the Gryffindor student had made the biggest mess of her area. She came up behind the professor with the bucket & mop. "Excuse me Professor Virohsa. I need to get passed you to clean up the area around your desk." Suddenly she noticed that one of the plants was toppled over on the floor beside her. She sighed with disgust, turned the plant upright while straightening up its soil, & then mopped up the dirt from the floor. She turned back to the professor, as she waited for her to scoot over so she could get by. "I would just Scourgify the place but I don't know how to perform the incantation yet, so I'm doing it the 'old fashioned way'." She smiled slightly. |
Llewellyn stared at Amaris after Virohsa made the announcement. Already having brewed his tea, he quietly sipped it while watching the goings on in the classroom with a raised eyebrow. He quietly began to wonder to himself if the ministry had put anything in the water, before quickly dismissing the thought. I wonder why all the girls here are mental... He thought to himself as he moved his attention from girl to girl in the classroom. Thinking it best to stay out of trouble, he simply lowered his attention back to his station and remained there passively. |
Nadia nodded at Lauracia's suggestion, feeling like she wanted to make her part, her half, of the assigment herself to compensate. Little did she pay attention to what was happening with the girl Amaris or Dru when noticing the announcement about a sang show, and actually hearing singing and - Nadia looked up at least, looking quite bewildered with the show they were being displayed and wondering if Virohsa had approved of it, her concentration being elsewhere before that. Finally as it came to an end, as the detention was issued and so on, Nadia returned to her work; she was badly absorted to be mattering it, and as if it hadn't happened, Nadia kept looking from page 340 to the cauldron (what! She didn't have saucepans exactly, did she?). This cherry-blossom rice dish seemed quite easy, where the cheery was more of the scense of it over actual cooking. There was fish around it - how much could she mess up? As Lauracia went and came back Nadia thought, well, that she was achiving something as the rice started taking a pink tint into it. |
Lee was sitting boredly in the back of the class as per usual when it came to Herbology, that was until Amaris began singing her pretty song. He was laughing so much he almost fell off his swining chair. When she recieved a detention Lee applauded her way out of the classroom. "So we need to make a tea or a meal," Lee groaned "I think i will do a meal". Lee took a plate from the front on which he was planning on using as his meal. He carefully placed hisplant in the middle and tapped on the plants surface so it read 'The Very Boring Salad Dish'. "That was easy," he said to himself and continued swinging back on his chair and looking out the greenhouse ceiling. |
Professor Virohsa walked around the room. "That's very good! Ok class, I hope you now feel more comfortable with your surroundings. For homework, I want you to stop by the Herbology Greenhouse and work on the matured Mandragoras. I want you to do similar things that you did in class today. However, since I'm not sure if some of you are prepared to do so.. I would rather you come to the Greenhouse, where I can attend any mishap quicker. After doing so, I want you to write 2 parchments comparing in-class work and the Greenhouse work due July 25th", she explained. "Class is done!", she said in a loud voice. |
Lee leaves his extraordinary gift on his table and packs away his belongings and then whipping his bag over his shoulder. Lee walks out the greenhouse into the sunny skies outside. |
