"Is the third rule to follow the school rules?" Sarah asked trying not to laugh at Arkee's answer. |
Professor Virohsa sort of nodded as she thought about what Nadia and Sarah had said. "Well, it is one of the rules that has been decreed by Headmistress Leiden, yes. I shall give you a hint. It affects your performance and development", she said sharply. |
Jamie raised her hand and said, "You MUST get 8 hours of sleep!" |
Mithos raised his hand "No Sweets..." |
"To have eight hours sleep?" Sarah guessed, frowning slightly. |
Llewellyn quickly looked down and bit his lips, doing his best not to laugh as the students began wildly calling out answers. Becoming bored with the introduciton, he began doodling detailed drawings of various plants. |
Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very good Jamie! Hufflepuff receives 2 pts", she nodded. After all, she had given them a hint. Turning to the class, she frowned, "Well? Why aren't you writing this!?". As she glared at the students, who were hopefully now scribbling in their parchments, she continued. "For today's class and our next classes, you can work on pairs or individually. I am aware that some of you (glances at Mithos and Lee) require more help than the rest.", she explained. "Any questions about the rules, before we proceed?", she asked quickly. |
Jamie smiled at the talk that she got 2 points for her house because they were so low. She looked around for a partner, but then she just took some noted on the 3 classroom rules. |
Mithos was tired he wanted to get out of this class and Owl his friend and tell her how Hogwarts was going. He really missed her, now he would have to partner up with these people that he didn't even know. |
Nadia titled her head, slightly confused about where the class was heading. She wrote down the rules as given and waited for further instructions. Her eyes rested on the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff boys who were mentioned. She wondered, well, she wasn't quite sure what to think to be quite honest. The Ravenclaw boy Mithos looked dreadful. |
After the class seemed to be done writing these upmost important rules, Professor Virohsa continued. "Before we begin our lesson, I have two announcements to make regarding extra credit. Please pay close attention, because I will not repeat them. After I post the homework, the first three students to send me an OWL will be placed as the Official Plant Caretakers for the upcoming lesson. The second announcement is that once these three students have been selected, a couple of you (depending on how many OWLS I get), will become the Official Greenhouse Caretakers", she said slowly. "What this means is that all extra credit shall be done after the class has adjourned and the homework has been posted. Any questions regarding these two announcements?", she asked as she shot a glance towards the sleepy Mithos. |
Mithos wrote down what was said in class and looked around and caught a sight of Nadia looking at him. At least it's not Gany. He thought to himself, and smiling at Nadia. His head felt heavy... He just wanted to rest it... |
As Professor Virohsa kept a close watch on the boy, she noticed his head fall to the table. With a small smirk, she walked over to the table and snapped really close to his ear, "Wake up, boy!!". She crossed her arms as she stated coldly, "It seems like someone has been neglecting his sleep..." |
"Professor," said Arkee, raising her hand slowly, "Do you mean that we have to send you and owl regarding these positions, or that we will be chosen when we hand in our homework?" |
Professor Virohsa looked at the Hufflepuff girl. "It means that after I post the homework, you will send me an OWL stating that you wish you fulfill one of these extra credit roles", she explained. |
Llewellyn gave a sigh, and added the finishing touches to his drawing. He wondered why these students had such a difficult time following directions. At least the Ravenclaw boy was just sleepy... He thought to himself. |
Mithos jumped at the yell of the Professor in his ear. He sat up straight, and tried not to fall asleep again. His head was hurting even more now that the Professor yelled right in his ear, how rude that was. |
ooc: Pss - Arkee is a girl :) Nadia heard to yet another rule of sorts - because, yes, it was a rule, and fought the ever-pounding need to sigh out loud. She needed to focus on work, on the real thing. Basic of herbology, basics... she just needed to concentrate and not let her nerves take her. Dear, not even after the attacks, the deaths and the lost of the professors Nadia had felt this stressed. She met eyes with the depressed-looking boy raising her eyebrows slightly, couldn't even smile or something when the professor called on him - and that was a way to put it. Nadia was half way to raise her hand, but suddenly her mind was blank and she dropped it back to the table. |
Walking back to the center of the room, Professor Virohsa smiled. "Very well. Now that we are all wide awake, we can continue". As she finished her sentence, the two usual blackboards that were floating in the air appeared. This time, they had a very bright picture of the plant that was located in the tray at the left side of the classroom. "Does anyone know what this type of plant is called?", she asked the class. Amaris looked up and smiled. She knew it was a flower but that was as far as her knowledge went. She sighed and grinned at the Professor shaking her head slightly. |
Professor Virohsa looked about the room. Everyone seemed either awestruck or they had not being reading about beautiful and safe plants. Quirking her eyebrow, she decided to up the odds. "I will award 25 pts to the student who accurately identifies this type of plant", she stated. "And I will leave you with a hint: It is a blue plant", she smiled. ooc- I shall leave this open. I will return tomorrow afternoon.... sooo.. think it over ;) |
Llewellyn raised his hand, and decided to hazard a guess. There weren't that many blue colored flowers, so at least he had a chance of probability. "Professor, is it a type of Hyacinth hybrid?" He asked, raising his hand. |
Laurasia raised her hand in the back of the room. "It seems to be a type of snapdragon, professor. I've never seen any blue ones before though, so I could be mistaken." |
Professor Virohsa smiled. "No, its not a Hyacinth hybrid or a Snapdragon, dears. But it does have something in common with the Hyacinth hybrid", she grinned. |
Nadia stared at the blackboard pensively and narrowing her eyes on concentration. She didn't thought she had ever seen those type of flowers before. Daisy, no... Lily, no... Lovage, no... Privet? Raising her hand, "Violet, professor?" |
