| | Lesson 1 - Muggle English Literature - John Webster The Muggle Studies classroom looks very similar to Shwmae's Office for the entire room is covered in scarlet. Scarlet curtains hang from the windows, scarlet rugs cover the stone floor, even the walls have scarlet tapestries hanging on them.
Rhiane is sat at the front of the class, behind her is a blackboard on which is written: Lesson 1 - Muggle English Literature - John Webster
Several desks are lined in three rows with little scarlet cushions on the chairs. She smiles sweetly as you enter and waits for you all to take your seats. |

OOC - Guys please do not edit your posts. It makes it really hard for me if I have to back track and respond to something you've edited in.

OOC - I have to go now but I'll re-open class later. I'll also post a reminder of the last question.

| 'I think I read somewhere that he wrote 11 to 14 collaborations but I may be mistaken... ' 'These are the ones I have found so far: His early collaborations included Caesar's Fall (written with Michael Drayton, Thomas Dekker, Thomas Middleton, Anthony Munday) and collaboration with Thomas Dekker entitled Christmas Comes but Once a Year. With Dekker, he also wrote Sir Thomas Wyatt. He worked with Thomas Dekker again on Westward Ho! And Northward Ho. Also, he adapted John Marston's The Malcontent, Appius and Virginia, Any Thing for a Quiet Life, Monuments of Honour, Keep the Widow Waking, The Fair Maid of the Inn, andA Cure for a Cuckold. John Webster is the soul author of: The Duchess of Malgi, The White Devil and The Devils Law-Case.' Ally replied nervously.

| "Adaptations aren't collaborations and he wrote the last three solely on his own. The correct answer is seven. But never mind, I won't penalise you for getting it wrong."
"In what year did his first play appear? What was it called? What caused the delay in his writing (there are two reasons)?"

| "Yes, Ally?" she asked intently, adding, "You need not raise your hand so long as you're answering a question. However, if you want to ask me something, you must raise your hand."

| "No, it was 'The White Devil' which appeared in 1612. It was delayed because of the plague in 1603 and 1605-1610 and also because he was a slow writer. This was the first play he'd written on his own.
Does anyone know when he got married and who he got married to?"

When did he start writing, 'The Duchess of Malfi?'"

| "No, actually he started writing it in 1612; it was performed in 1613/1614. And, was surprisingly, a success.
Which two people were poisoned/murdered in the years that followed?"

Martha answers hesitantly, not sure if her answer is correct..."I think I remember seeing that the play was published in 1613, but I don't recall when he actually started to write it."

| "Antonio and the Duchess are fictional characters; we're talking about what happened in the time of John Webster, a real person," she laughed, unable to believe what the student had said.

They were basd loosely on real figures in history so i meant that there real life characters were killed.
Though that may be inccorect too or you are talking about something different

| "Yes, but saying 'Antonio' and the 'Duchess' doesn't actually answer the question. Rosa's got one name right and the other was Prince Henry. Robert Carr and his wife Frances Howard were later charged with Overbury's murder in 1616. When did Webster die?"
