"Oh, sorry. Nadia Chantalona-Rey. Slytherin 6th year. But do call me Nadia," she grinned shippishly. In within the calling of each other names, Nadia did not get to tell hers and finally forgot. Silly of her. Nadia took her gloves, put them on and waited for others to settle down, attentively listening for the intructions while watching the plant. It looked too pretty to be so dangerous. |
Llewellyn, having no idea about the magical properties of the plant, simply continued taking notes. |
Mithos took the gloves and said "These are filthy!" He complained to the Professor. "Who has been wearing these a troll?!" He asked pushing the gloves aside and geting another pair of cleaner ones. |
Professor Virohsa nodded. "Very well, Nadia. Your answer was correct and exhaustive. However, you are not above school and classroom rules. In order to ensure that you and your other classmates do not forget to raise their hand, I will take away 6 pts from Slytherin. 3 pts for your behavior, child. And 3 pts for Alex's identical behavior", she warned. "Any more rule-breaking behavior", she warned the class, "will result in harsher punishment. You will find that I reward those who obey the rules, not those who walk around them." She looked at Raven, who seemed somewhat disillusioned. "No need to worry, child. Your answer was correct. It does help in exorcism of mind control and some fatal poisons. However, it does not have any properties that would protect.. or legally bind you", she nodded. "2 pts for Ravenclaw" "Any other guesses, before we begin to work?", she asked the class. |

Alex glared at Miss Virohsa before taking a pair of gloves and putting them on. |
Llew grabbed a pair of gloves, and slipped them on without complaint. A little taken aback by the goings on of the classroom, he decided he didn't enjoy this new herbology professor. |
Raven eyes widden as Professor Virohsa. She was shocked by what all had happened before her eyes. Good thing she read the rules she thought and waited till the professor contiuned the lesson. |
Annie picked up some gloves, and put them on. Then she patiently awaited the Professors' next instructions. |
Professor Virohsa nodded. "Of course you may, boy. That's what a student should be. Kind, responsible, and willing to sacrifice his studying time to help clean the gloves. Very well, the first thing that we will do is take care of the plants. Then, we will begin a little project!", she grinned. ooc- I will be back later. I'm closing the thread and will re-open it later today. Class will be re-opened at about 4pm CT. |
"Please grab a bucket of water and start sprinkling a little bit of water on the plants. Then, if you are paying enough attention, you will start to notice some changes. I want you to record in your parchments everything your plant does", she explained. "Some of your plants will do nothing yet. Some of your plants will be overly friendly and start humming softly. In some cases, they may move less than an inch. But whatever you do, do not touch them yet", she added. "Any questions?" |
Raven shook her head and levitated her water sprinkler towards her. She began o sprinkle the water softly on top of the flower and grabbed her quill and notebook closely towards her. She would watch not blinking and waited for something to happen. Her plant didn't humm but did move an inch. She looked at the Professor and back at her plant being suprised. She wrote down the action of her plant and waited for an explanation of this movement. |
As Professor Virohsa instructed, Kali grabbed a bucket of water with her gloved hands and sprinkled a bit of water onto her plant. She then wrote on her parchment: -Sprinkled some water first, apparently the plant isn't overly friendly seeing that it is not humming yet. |
As the students began to do as she instructed, she moved away from the steps and her table. She started to walk around and watching how the plants reacted. She first stopped by Raven's plant. Smiling, she nodded as she saw that the plant moved a bit. She continued and looked at Kali's plant. "Oh my.. You certainly have a grumpy one", she nodded. "Don't worry, after we feed them, the plant will start to do more...", she trailed off and continued to walk around. |
Xavier grabs a bucket of water and begins to sprinkle some of it on the plants. He had already done this in the greenhouse so this was review. |
Raven looked at the Professor and raised her hand. "Them?" Raven thought for a second. We were studying Buchthorn plants or also known as Rhamnus Cathartica what on earth did this have to with watering a plant and watching them humm or move. "What are they," she question? |
Professor Virohsa smiled delightly at the Ravenclaw girl. "They are.. Common Buckhorn for most Muggles", she explained. "But most of these plants have magical properties, unknown to most wizards and muggles. I actually researched them in my past.. And well, it takes a while for them to start being friendly and exhibiting behavior. That is why I ordered a special batch that has been approved by the Ministry, and was carefully supervised by two students in these last few days", she nodded. "Having Sarah and Xavier around them, I think, made them more comfortable in your presence", she winked. "Do not worry, they won't harm you. Their acidic spores inside their berries have been removed", she nodded. |
Kay shook her head, perfectly understanding Professor Virohsa's instructions. She took one of buckets of water and began to carefully sprinkle small amounts of the water onto the plants. As she did this, Kay kept her eyes focused on the plants and a few moments later, noticed a slight movement and a light humming noise. Not taking her eyes off the plants, she deftly sat the water bucket down and grabbed her parchment, quill, and ink. Kay continued to watch the plants, concentrating on every exact movement or noise they made. A few minutes later, she took her eyes off the plants and carefully wrote down her observations, detailing everything that she saw and heard. |
Raven smiled feeling protected. That is why we aren't to tocuh them. Raven also figured out that they are called Common Buckthorn plants to muggles eyes because their magical properties aren't noticed through a muggle eye. But they are very benificial to our use. Raven wrote this down quickly adding towards her notes. She looked back up at the Professor and smiled. |
Professor Virohsa nodded and continued to walk around the class. She noticed that some plants were slightly humming, whereas other plants were just staying still. "Very well class. Listen carefully. I want you to experiment with the following ingredients!", she said as the second blackboard's writings changed. The first blackboard still had the picture of the plant. Quote:

Raven levitated the red rocks and dust towards her and sighed. She watched as words appeared on the black board and noticed what she would be doing. She remained calm looked at dust and rock. She raised her hand quickly to answer the question. "Would they be fertilizer?" |
After getting the materials, Kali raised her hand, "I'm guessing the would be the food fertilizer. They might contain a lot of iron that contributes to their red color." |
Raven looked at Kali and smiled. "Yes, it could be very well their food. And with the object that you have said to experiment with they could have different recations when they are being fed." |
Professor Virohsa looked at the Ravenclaw girl. "They resemble a fertilizer in a way.. since they are the feed.", she nodded. "1 pt for Ravenclaw, for a good guess". She looked at Kali and grinned proudly. "Oh yes! These rocks are not particularly rocks, but a concentration of nutrients, heavily loaded on iron. The dust, is simply rocks that were grinded previously by your fellow students", she nodded. "3 pts shall be awarded for your careful observation", she smiled. Then turning her attention to the rest of the class, she nodded. "Please start giving your plants different dosages of the materials outlined by the blackboard. Depending on what you mix, your plant may lose its green color, turn reddish, turn yellowish, or remain the same. Also note any other behaviors exhibited by your plant. I will come around, if you have any other questions", she explained. |
