Tao feverishly took notes. She'd have rather hopped on the broom, but she knew everything took time. After finishing up the notes she looked up at the professor. She couldn't think of any questions so she waited to see if the others students had any.

Arkee scratched her head.

"Professor, I don't really understand what you mean by roll... do you mean rotating yourself around the broom?"

Ally began taking notes. Although she rather learn to fly she knew it was important for her to learn the basics.

"Certainly, Arkee is it?" the Professor grabbed the broom to demonstrate and mounted the broom, throwing his leg over the handle but keeping both his feet on the ground. "Okay, as I stradle the handle like this, if I lean to much to either side, I would fall off. This would be too much roll, but I I were flying right now and tried to make a turn without leaning into the turn, the centrifical force would trhow me off in the opposite direction of my turn. There fore you need to learn the appropriate amount of roll to use when making turns. Does that help?"

When in the air, you mostly forgot the basics. The idea of rolling even sounded awkward to her. Being a sisth year she thought it could be embarrassing to ask a question, but then again -

"Professor, what are the movements involved in the Wonski Faint? I mean, how could this three terms be explained there."

"Yes, absolutely!" Arkee exclaimed, furiously scribbling notes and numerous diagrams of stickmen on brooms showing what the professor had just shown the class.

Terry smiles at her uncle. She knows how to fly a broom, but she doesn't know all the terms associated with it. Terry listens as Nadia asks her question. Angry that she is embarassing her uncle during his first lesson, Terry gives her a swift kick in the shin.

Knowing already how to fly a broom because her brother taught her all the basics, Pam was already ahead of the other first years. She could not wait to begin class.

Raven looked at Nadia and smiled. "The Wronski Feint is used by seekers when they hurtle towards the ground pretending that they may have seen the snitch. But the object for the seeker zooming is to dodge the gorund while the person that follows actually hits the ground. It was named after Polish Seeker Josef Wronski." She mounted her broom catiously and kicked off the ground looking around at what people was doing. She heard the word roll and smiled. She had did a roll in a quidditch match before. She went higger into the air and did 5 rolls and zoomed down demonstrating the Wronski Feint. "You can read up on ancient moves in a "Hogwarts Histry" it can be found in the school library."

Jen raised her hand hesitantly. "Professor? How do you know how much to lean then?"

Prewett looks over at the sixth year student who has attended his other classes before and was even a member of the Slytherin Quidditch team back when they used to play it at this school. "I think Nadia, I hold that question for awhile. The Wonski Feint is a very difficult and dangerous move that I certainly wouldn't want any of my first year students attempting. Of course, when used properly by a very experinced flyer, it can be a very succesful strategy to deceive an opponent so I may be covering the technique in my more advanced classes later this term."

Nadia feels the kick in the shin why so evidently and she turns sharp to the offender to find Terry there. Now what is this twit playing at?! Probably playing all power-abusing because she was related to the professor - but of course! Uncle Gideon wouldn't punish dear Terry. And Terry has always been the dirtiest spot in the student body, Nadia was sure. Her rather lack of respect for rules, her offensive ways for their fellow student. Nadia was completely fed up, and Terry had picked a wrong timing to take the micky out of her. And all that was quite expressive on the glare she was giving to the Hufflepuff Prefect.

"Excuse me, Terry, but would you mind telling me why you feel the need to psychically injury me? What, no more Shriking Solutions to throw over my head?!" Nadia asked in normal tone, disregarding if the professor heard her or not.

Tao took down some more notes. She felt a bit more releaved that they hadn't actually just hopped on the brooms. She'd have most likely fallen off since she didn't know any of this.

Harmony raises her hand to ask a question

When taking off, Pam felt the fresh air breeze through her hair and thirsted for the speed of her broomstick. She hoped that her teacher would allow her to experiment on the broom sometime because she already knew the basics.

ooc: okay folks let me remind many of you of a very important part of Role Playing, number one rule is READ the rules!! This class is for beginning students who don't know how to fly (not ones who werertaught by their brother or have been on Quidditch teams and own Firebolts) and secondly, we are inside a classroom not out on the pitch so they'll be NO jumping on brooms by students to demonstrate techiniques please....... I can appreciate many of you wanting to talk about how much knowledge you have or how good a flyer you are but this class is not the place for it and I must ask you to either get into the RP mode here and play along....or leave the class.

"Yes Harmony, what is it?"

Nadia nods at the professor, once receiving her answer. Her eyes linger in Terry no more than neccessary as she look forwards to ignore the Weasley for the rest of the class. Now sure she had been heard by the professor, what a chance, Nadia took more notes with her eyes in the parchement solely. Her only remorsement is not having cursed Terry Weasley's pants the first minute she got the chance since she proved to be such a prat.

Raven dismounted quickly and placed her broom down. Obviously she hadn't taken notice of the little space she had to do this. She noticed the room filled with first years and smiled kindly while packing her bags. Raven used to be a Ravenclaw Chaser so she has much skill at Quidditch. There was just no reason to take a beginners class. She finished packing and left quitely not trying to disturb the lesson any more then what she had already done.

'Please, Professor, can you teach us what makes the Wonski feint dangerous?

Afton looked at the professor..she had been in this class many times throuh out her last 4 years but now she was just plainly confuzed about what was going on..

"Um.. professor? you have confuzed me."

Well I would assume that would be a bit obvious would it, since you and your opponent are pummling towards the ground as fast as you can trying to make it appear that you're chasing the Snitch, if you don't pull up or increase you PITCH in time, then you will be eating with a straw for quite awhile." The professor chuckled at his students interests in learning such complicated moves not having even learned the basics.

"Yes, Afton, what can I clarify for you?"

Afton looked plainly confuzed..

"Im totally confuzed aboiut what we are supposed to be doing..i see some peole just talking and such, and some taking notes and some messing with their brooms and now im just totally confuzed about what we are supposed to be doing."

Harmony looked wide-eyed at the professor. This subject was so fascinating that even the most dangerous techniques slipped her mind easily. She scribbled quickly on her parchment so as not to forget

"well then I'll take this opportunity to once again explain my plan for this class for beginners. We will discuss the various terms involved with basic flight. We will learn about different styles of brooms and their origins, talk about the materials they are made from and why. A little later on we will move out onto the Pitch and begin with mounting our brooms and making some simple manuevers and eventually I plan to teach you all some more advanced techniques that should give you a starting chance at trying out for any Quidditch teams that may be allowed to form in the school in the future."
