Perry eyed the class yet again, offering a tight smile to the ones who smiled at him. Don't be too friendly, he remined himself. He was a teacher, not their friend, and if he let himself be too friendly, they might forget that. "Excellent. Now, Mithos, put that wand away. We're not working with wands right now. Thank you all for coming to the first DADA class of the term. Today we're going to talk about something that is vitally important to all of us this year - the new rules. After we're through with that, I've got something additional to share." He waited for their excited reactions before continuing. ooc: I'm running to the grocery. I'll be right back. Please behave yourselves. |
Tao was quite excited. She thought the rules should be discussed. Not that she knew the rules before hand, but obviously they were very harsh this term from what she gathered. She then looked at Ally and Martha to see if they were also wondering what else the professor was going to share. |
Martha sat silently and waited for the Professor to continue, eager to hear more. |
Tina looks around and gets out her quill. No wands? What is he going to pull a Umbridge on us?, she thought. |
Anelreas raised a brow as the Professor informed them of their lesson for the day. Although she would normally object to the lesson plan, it was the most decent one and called for for this term. |
Mithos nodded "Yes, Sir." He took his wand and placed it neatly in the wand's box and inside his bag. He listened to what Mr. Perry had to say about the rules. |
Raven eyes widden and her smiled grew into a fake grin. She had read the rules plently of times and had the rules beaten into her head to much. She leaned back into her chair and sighed. |
Erica looked up when Perry spoke. A class session on the rules, she thought. As if we hadn't heard enough about them already. Nodding to show that she heard, she went back to studying the contours of the desk, using her finger to trace the lines across and around the desk. |
Waiting for the professor to start, Martha picked up her quill and began to doodle on the corner of her parchment to pass the time. |
Astoria sighed as Professor Perry said their class session would be on the new rules. HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT THE RULES??? This is getting ridiculous! At least we aren't practicing manners or something like that! She then started to doodle on her parchment out of pure boredom. |
Tina quietly looked down, and wondered what her muggle friends were doing, when suddenly she heard a vibrate. Quietly and quickly, she reaches down and shuts her phone off, hoping the teacher didn’t notice. However, there were no rules against cell phones…or tellyphones for that matter. She thought back and didn’t remembering reading any, so quietly looked down to see her text message…. |
Kay took out her parchment, quill and ink from her satchel. A faint scratching noise could be heard as she wrote the following on her paper: Defense Against the Dark Arts, Lesson #1 Instructor: Professor Perry Topic: The New Rules Upon finishing the heading on her parchment, she sat attentively awaiting Professor Perry to continue. |
Roma sat next to Astoria and took out a quill, parchment, and ink while putting away her wand. She had been waiting for this class for the longest time. Defence Against the Dark Arts was always her favorite subject. |
Professor Perry cleared his throat and stood, walking around to stand next to the desk in the room. "Now, I'm sure you're all very familiar with the rules already. Let's consider this to be a bit of a pop quiz. I won't grade you, although I may award points for exceptional answers. I'm rather proud of the new rules this term. Headmistress Leiden is a gem of a woman, and you are all lucky to have her. Does anyone have a favorite rule?" |
'Excellent. If anyone tries to complain that we're going over the rules, I swear I'll shove a dirty sock down their throats. No wonder the teachers keep going over the rules over & over. It seems like no one understands them, or just choose to ignore them. And THEN the complain about it,' Alex thought. |
ooc: I'm back. And you better get rid of that cell phone! It wouldn't work at Hogwarts first of all, and second... that's just rude. Do it before I catch you. |
Nadia raised her hand, waiting to be called upon before giving an answer. |
Kay raised her hand and awaited to be called upon. |
Perry recognized the girl from her testimony last term. "Yes, Miss Chantelona-Rey? I'm eager to hear your opinion. And you... Kay? The Ravenclaw... you can go next." |
Astoria raised her hand and awaited to be called on. |
Raven raised her hand quickly and smiled at Professor Perry. |
Kay put her hand down and carefully listened to what Nadia had to say. |
Erica raised her hand and waited to be addressed. |
Rave went to raise her hand but then thought better of it and lowered it once again. |
Nadia lowered her hand at the same time she said, "Al rules are useful in themeselves because they serve a purpose. I have problems chosing a favorite myself, but I will have to say my personal one is the rule number 8. Simply, it is wrong to have any kind of fight over wardrove. As it itself says, ''individualism leads to dissension and dissatisfaction.''." |
