Sound familiar? Do not dispair, this thread is here to help you catch up with the various goings-on in the Hogwarts School RP.

The school term has started, and there are a few changes in staff, plus the addition of a Ministry representative (Nora Leiden). She seems to want to inquire on how students feel about the safety of Hogwarts, though some staff and students appear to be quite wary of her. Hogsmede is undergoing serious reconstruction after being trashed/vandalized over the summer. Hendrik appears to know who is responsible, but is not telling.

The Daily Prophet includes a rather scandalous article about the past events at Hogwarts, written by Dempsey Doodle. Ravenclaw Prefect Ashlie seems to have taken the greatest (at least most noticable) offense to the article, and is probably not the only one to have decided that the article and Miss Leiden's presence are somehow linked. Miss Leiden has gotten approval from the Headmaster to inspect the staff's classes. She targeted all the classes with the ex-ghost profs and Rae.

The student paper, SS Quill, contains an article about the arrival of Miss Leiden (before that, an introductory article about the beginning of term) and an editorial written by Ashlie in response to Dempsey Doodle's article.

Despite attempts from some, Leiden has now found out who exactly let down Hogwart's defenses (i.e. opened the door) resulting in the chaotic fight in the castle against Lord Voldemortist. Professor Rae admitted to it (to the horror of several students).

Leiden inspected Divination and Potions classes, and now has decided to suspend Airlia, Riddle, Lainley and Rae from teaching duties, getting replacements from the Ministry. Rae has yet to be ousted, but it seems like this latest move has opened a rather nasty Pandora's Box of emotions, expecially on the student's end.

Looks like students are channelling some serious emotion into productiveness, several first/second years backed up by Professor Bree redecorating Berty Borr's office (and Berty himself). Alas, it has cost them, now Bree is out...

...that is not to say that's the only thing going on. Ashlie and Terry are scheming together to form somethign akin to Dumbledore's Army--SAMMO. (Students Against Meddling Ministry Officials. Quaint.)

Zekke snuck into several professor's offices (Rae, Airlia in particular) and stole a whole bunch of stuff back. So far, all he's returned is Rae's photo, but Terry is getting the blame from Perry for stealing it (oops!).

UPDATE: Most of the stuff has been returned. Most.

Hubert, Airlia's House-elf, was ordered to clean up the...artwork in Borr's "office", and, shall we say, pitched in to the revolution. Alas, Borr is a smart one, and is now howing in fury (with ripped pants) towards wherever Airlia may be. Borr wants to take Hubert away from Airlia (legally of course. Of course...) and Marcella has gone and stuck a "kick me" sign on his ripped trousers. He suceeded...or did he? Only time will tell.

All classes run by the Ministry reps so far have either been rediculously basic, or a joke. And some students have OWLS and NEWTS, you know!

Sidenote: Ron (gryffindor_1) sank his boat in a lake and was eaten by the Giant Squid. Or at least, dragged under. Do not try this at home, folks.

Remember Lee the Hufflepuff? He's been caught for doing something (besides the painting incident) and Shwame has got him to be a spy for the Ministry. He's supposed to ferret out information about last term...but will he? He's already snapped in the halls, and is telling Professor Bree + Slytherin Prefects some sketchy details about his predicament in Bree's office.

ADDITION: Melita's got Veritaserum! (Run, all you children! Run!)

Lee's been doped with Veritaserum and he's let slip who put up that wonderful poster of Melita and Borr in Hogesmade. He's also told her about SAMMO, and now that Shwame is in the SAMMO meeting, the members are trying to play it cool, like it was indeed a "Homework Group".

Bree has gotten into trouble for instructing when she is suspended. Now she can't leave the castle under any circumstances. SAMMO is...under survaillence? A Ravenclaw (Dark_Chimera) was listening in on the whole thing (i think).

Slytherin prefects Jaren and Zekke have brought one of Melita's cookies to Airlia for scientific analysis.

Lee was dragged off by Borr to a Borr dentention (Dun dun DUNN!) And Ganymede set off a slew of Dungbombs+a portable swamp in Borr's office, which has been cleaned up by Jaren before anyone notices.

Headmaster Hendrik has been ordered to step down in accordance to Clause which-one-is-it-now...also because Leiden likes him, but Hendrik (as we all know) is in love with Professor Pheonix. This has Professor Riddle in a hissy fit, to put it lightly, but the student body has not been informed yet. Well, directly anyway.

UPDATE: A trial is to be held soon by "Headmistress" Leiden, the accused being Professors Riddle, Lainley and Airlia. She is currently looking for student testifiers.

Plain outrageous insulting of Bertie Borr during HoM class resulted in a bunch of students (two Slyths, one Huffie, one Claw) landing themselves in detention. One Slytherin seems to be sucking up to Borr quite a bit...

Professors seem to prefer the Hog's Head to the Three Broomsticks. Looks like everyone has been in there...a small society which formed with the goal of freeing Hubert was busted by Josef Perry, and Lainley, who was "helping" somewhat with the Polyjuice Potion the students were brewing, is now confined to quarters. The kiddies got detention.

Update: School ball (blech!) Leiden has not-so-wisely announced that the ex-ghost profs will not be returning, and Rae + Bree have been fired.

shwmae is planning to find out one of the things they encountered from when they first arrived at this school. i have no clue what it is, but you people better watch what you eat.

but we cannot know all this, because the door was shut while miss melita and miss shwmae were talking. at least i think it was.

they're all evil.

Second, we've been trying to make things as realistic as possible by your request. That means actions have natural and appropriate consequences. Sadly, that means someone who choose to goof off in the lake thread today is now a 'Dead Student'. More discussion will take place in the lj!

i'm not trying to sound rude, but it would have been easier to just look in the 'by the lake' thread than to ask in here. the mods & admins are already getting upset that there's too much chatting going on here.

Actually guys, that "how did he die?" question is exactly what this thread is here for so, I don't really understand why you're all upset. Of course we could go and read through entire threads to find out ourselves but, that could take days. It's easier if you just give us a summary in your updates.

(example, using posts from other people about this dead student)

It was pointed out in LJ that, "gold stars are traditionally given to primary school kids here. they stick them to their jumpers with sellotape and some put them on star charts at home so their parents can reward them at the end of term."

So then my question, which it was suggested should be addressed to you is,
"So then.. Would the teacher be putting the stars with spell-o-tape to our jackets? Or putting them in a chart she has (and not giving them to students at all)?"

Okay, backtrack. If you didn't suspect Melita of putting things in her cookies before, than unless your character was told otherwise by someone, you wouldn't have arrived at that conclusion. Plus, you wouldn't know that Shwame was using them in the RP. That's ooc information.

Just to make that clear.

As for the lake thing? He died last year too...odd. I suppose it's a different character then.

When someone 'dies' they either come back as the same character, just as a first year again or a new character. But yes, it is funny how this guy seems to like getting himself killed. Anyone want to place bets for next term?

Actually, that's coming from the books. I think it was Hermione who explained why people can't apparated or disapparate at Hogwarts but, they did say it was due to the abundance of magic and the wards that protect Hogwarts from prying eyes.

Also, I'm pretty sure the characters involved in the story know more about what is going on with the gold stars than you do. Let's not be mean to the Officials in OOC because that is just rude.

Ahhh but what all did Lee tell? Did he say that it is a group against the Ministry? Because technically speaking that isn't how it is at all. If you notice the only things Ashlie has ever stressed of it is that they want to get information and have an alliance of people they can trust.

^ I know. I have a problem against that too. SAMMO might be named against meddlesome ministry. However, SAMMO only tries to get information. Nothing more. That was the whole pretense of SAMMO.

What do you do? Lee apparently thought it was actively against Ministry and not just information?. If you go back to when Ashlie and Francis were interviewing candidates, that's what they said: gathering of information to find out the truth.

Here, I'll make a post for this over in LJ so we can continue talking and not clutter this thread. But, you are very correct. If given the Veriataserum, Ashlie would be able to say that it is strictly a group run to get information about whats happening at the school without lying.

It is annonymous because no one saw it get left. No one signed it. Just because it is left under one person's name (Like me) that doesn't mean that Ashlie left it. It just makes it annonymous.

Okay people, I'm only going to say this one more time before I close this thread, the ooc forum, and/or the school LJ community:

STOP THE CHATTER AND OFF-TOPIC POSTING

I have seen way too much chatter going on in here. This thread is about what has happened, plain and simple. No reactions are necessary (unless something needs clearing up). If someone has a question as to why something was done a certain way or there's a question about logistics (can the ministry use veritaserum, for example) don't go spouting off your theories, wait for someone in authority (a staff member) to answer the quetsion properly. All this answering for yourselves is getting people confused as to what is the truth and what is just conjecture.

Along those same lines... All this ooc chatter is spilling into the RP. Your characters are not the ones analyzing things here in the ooc forum or in the LJ. The conclusions you come up with in here are NOT the conclusions your characters are coming to. THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR OOC PLOTTING!!!!!!!!! And the LJ was not intended for plotting, either. The purpose of this thread is to tell what is going on (and when you make a post be VERY specific- I'll give you an example at the end of this post). The purpose of the LJ is to discuss what is going on. There was a post in here about an announcement which was placed somewhere (we don't know where because the person who made the update failed to inform us where, thank you very much) and then, there's posts saying people can post it in their CRs if they want. WTF? GIVE ME A BREAK! There is no way people could know about that sign IC just because you guys read it in here OOC. Honestly people .... *rips out hair*

I am so frustrated with you guys right now (and DON'T YOU DARE POST AN APOLOGY TO ME AFTER THIS POST OR I WILL BE VERY ANGRY). Please please please stop and think. If you have trouble distinguishing between IC and OOC don't come in here. You are ruining the RP for everyone.

I have some comments to make on some of the comments that were made in here but, I'm too frustrated at this point to even bother because I seriously doubt anyone will listen to me. Besides, the comments that were made shouldn't have been made in this thread in the first place. Just one thing that's really bugging me: you guys have no idea what or if anything is in Melita's cookies and if anyone RPs that there is veritaserum in them I will personally string them up. (Same thing goes for the gold stars). Just because you think you've figured out what is going on, doesn't mean you have.

Please see my next post for a real update that you can use as an example should you post an update yourself.

Update:

Hubert's (Professor Airlia's house elf) ownership has just been transferred to Berty Borr. Airlia was ordered a few days ago (a day ago or so, RP time) to have Hubert clean out Berty's office. Hubert did a terrific job but, he also played a few pranks, including over-waxing the floors, leaving the sneezing flower on the desk, and enchanting his quills, ink, and parchment. Berty was bound and determined to punish the elf and contacted his friends in the Dept. for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures to transfer ownership so he could do as he pleased with the elf.

The transfer of ownership scene started with post #123 on page 5 in the Main Room.

To see Hubert handiwork (the reason for this action) see post #210 in Professor Lainey's Office.
