Professor Rae pushed open the door to the classroom and surveyed it. The desks were shiny and sitting in straight, perfect rows. The windows were open from her visit earlier that day, and the sunlight streamed in and lit the room cheerily. The blackboard was clean and just waiting for chalked words of wisdom. She sighed with contentment and moved behind her desk, ready to begin the first DADA class of the term.

Rosa looked around for a partner. finally she walked to anelreas. she'd met her in hogsmeade so it wasn't a complete stranger. 'would you like to be my partner?' she asked softly

Finally, when making up her mind on who to ask, somebody announced that they need a partner: Serena Snape. When Nadia turned around again she had missed that person... she noticed too Anelreas had already found a partner. Scratching her head quite lost, she turned around again and went over to Serena.

"Hey there," she said, "I seem to miss a partner."she looked over at Emil that seemed to be having some trouble with his wand (no pun intended, lol), "Want to practice while we wait for Emil to prepare himself? You start."

Anelreas looked up as Rosa talked to her. She was one of the few was helping out in Hogsmeade. They were both working on the Quill Shop. "Sure." She gave her a smile. "You start?"

'OK,' Rosa said. She got her wand out of her bag and pointed it at Anelreas. 'my name's rosa.' she said. 'I know we've met, but we've never introduced each other properly. what's your name? anyway, here I go.' she pointed her wand at anelreas, shouting: expelliarmus, but nothing happened.

"Those of you who think you're ready may add Immobulus and Gelatinus to your practice. If you are a first year, I recommend you stick with Expelliarmus and Protego. Please remember that Expelliarmus is a disarming spell and will probably cause your opponents wand to fly out of their hand. With practice, you'll be able to repel the wand into your own hand. Protego causes the spell to be repelled. For most of you, it will produce a shield that will mostly end up absorbing the spell. However, with practice, the shield should bounce the spell back. Older students, I encourage you to try all four spells in a duel-like stance. If you so choose, you may partner with a younger student to assist them. No first years should be training another first year."

OH... and ooc: Please do NOT RP what your partner does or how they react unless you have their permission. You can cast the spell, but you can't say if it hits or misses or if they dodge or not... and you REALLY can't do dialogue for them. Not cool.

Anelreas stared at Rosa's wand. "I'm Anelreas." She said, going over to Rosa to examine her wand. "Why did nothing happen?"

'well, I have no idea...' Rosa said. 'it is the first time I use it,so maybe I'm just not used to it. your turn'

"You should be able to do the spell, though. It's very simple." She walked back to her original place, taking her wand out. She turned around and pointed her wand at Rosa. "Expelliarmus!"

Rosa felt her wand leaving her hands and fly away. She looked at anelreas. 'it may be easy enough for you, but don't forget it's my first time.' she said. She looked around to find her wand.

"Hi Nadia, we can work together. Get ready!" Serena said as they took their places. "Let's start with Expelliarmus, and then we'll try the other two as well."

Serena bowed to Nadia. "I hope you don't mind the formalities!"

Then quickly she raised her wand and shouted "Expelliarmus!"

Anelreas pointed at Rosa's fallen wand, hidden under one of the tables. "Let's try again. When it's your turn, when I cast the spell again, try blocking it with Protego." She suggested as the Professor had earlier.

Jaren stood back, watching everyone else attempt to organize themselves or practice duelling, mentally gauging them so that, if he was to partner one of them, he would not overwhelm the first years.

Rosa got down under the table and grabbed her wand. then she said: 'Ok, nbut can I try expeliarmus first?' She didn't wait for an answer, but waited a few seconds she said: 'expelliarmus' this time she felt some tingly feeling in her fingers.

Anelreas readied her wand and when she heard Rosa speak the spell, she quickly reacted, reciting her own spell. "Protego!"

Rosa saw some orange lightflash coming out of her, but it disapppeared about a meter in front of anelreas. 'it worked!' she yelled out happily. 'I did it!'then she realised there hadn't happened much. 'well, I didn't do much, but...'

Anelreas laughed at Rosa's excitement of performing the spell. "Just keep on practicing the spell and you'll be able to disarm someone a mile away." She doubted it could be possible to disarm someone from such a distance, but she wanted to encourage the girl to keep practicing.

Jaren caught the eye of a first year student looking for a partner. "You can partner me," he offered in a neutral tone, addressing Mithos. "Try to disarm me." Jaren readied his wand.

"Oh yeah sure, ok ready?" Mithos pointed his wand at Jaren "Expelliarmus!!"

"Protego," Jaren said, almost at the same time. Mithos' spell deflected to the ceiling. "Decent...try it again." He figured he'd let the first-year try a few more times before they switched.
