Jessica raised her hand to answer the professor's question. "Would Hinkypunks and Kappas be some as well?" She answered, unsure.

ooc: and what about we complete the answer?

"Boggarts, Red Caps, Werewolves," Nadia continued quite shyly. "Grindylows, Kelpies, Kappas, Banshies, Pogrebins, Hinkypunks..."

As she went, her mind wondered somewhere else, on what other student had said about religion. It was an interesting possition, seeing the classification of dark and white magic is directly related to morals, and morals are set by both religion and law... Judging by our history, she thought, most of our classifications on good and evil must come from religion, and hence, magic's. She chuckled. That's something they might want to ask Professor Lainey, the History of Magic Professor, better.

:: Ganymede smiled as Nadia helped the answer. Slytherin needs to win again. Ganymede thinks. She wasn't sure about some of the others she heard of and wasn't sure what a pogrebin was. Ganymede waited patiently. ::

"Let's see... that's 10 points to Slytherin and five to Hufflepuff. I can see you have a basic knowledge of Dark Creatures as well. What would you say makes a creature dark?"


ooc: The answer to that, of course, Nadia... is that you missed the point. I'm not asking for anyone to show off. I'm asking for you to give each other a chance to participate. When I say ONE, and this is to everyone, I mean ONE. Next time... no points.

"I'd say that Thestrals could be considered Dark Creatures. Atleast so said by the Ministry of Magic." Xavier says.

Mithos raises his hand "Pixies and Doxies" he added

"I'll give Ravenclaw five points for that, parvatifan, although I don't agree with the Ministry on this. Any ideas why? It goes along with my previous question. I"m going to have to draw the line at pixies and doxies, however. They might be ferocious to protect themselves, but they aren't Dark."

"A creature is probably made dark becuase it either has been abused or is just born that way," Xavier says.

Mithos raised his hand "Most of these creatures can't control themselves.. and i guess they don't have a limit and that makes them be dark because they don't know what they are doing or how wrong or how terrible.."

:: Ganymede thinks, "Perhaps because of its danger it puts Wizards and muggles in? Like the Basalisk. Or because its true meanings are not understood? Like the threstrals." She says with a slanted brow. ::

I think a creature may be considered dark because of superstitions and stereotypes against it. Also, they way that creature behaves could classify it as "dark"

:: Ganymede wanted to figure the reason out more but was a bit tired. She let the class go on as she took notes. Her thoughts were a million miles away. She hoped no Slytherins would get detention in this class. ::

(ooc: just asking. Just forgive us if we respond all at the same time and makes it look like we wanted to show off, please ...mh, maybe we can do as Quidditch and edit saying 'lateness' =P /PD. Nadia wrote down the answers curious about how other people would respond to this question. She was in no hurry, to tell you the truth. She knew of Ganymede's enthusiasm and didn't want it to waste, but she wasn't that concerned about house points as in other years.

" Dark creatures intention is to hurt or harm. They enjoy the feeling of imparing other organisums. They like to harm. That's why they are dark. " Jake said from the courner of the room. He said it with out looking up. " Thestrals aren't dark. This is because they don't harm you. Well unless you're drenched in blood. " He said yet again.

"Those are all excellent ideas and theories, but let me be perfectly clear about this. A Dark Creature is born that way. It isn't misunderstood or under-loved. Its very nature is Dark. It is embued with Dark magicks and its basest needs, like ours are for food and shelter, are to harm and kill. A Dark creature is one who feeds off of harming Wizards. Not like a dragon or a giant, who will kill out of defense or hunger, but they do it because they enjoy it. Most Dark creatures were created rather than being born in traditional ways. The last thing we should talk about is defensive spells. I'm sure you all know quite a few. Let's list them quickly so we can move on to the practical part of the lesson."

Alicia raised her hand "The disarming spell, Expeliarmus"

Kali raised her hand, "The Shield Charm, Protego."

Mithos raised his hand "The Patronomus, Rictusempra, Eventu Statums (ooc: don't know how to spell), Protego,..."

"There are also the body binds. Such as Petrificus Totalas which is a full body bind and then there is just a leg bind"

Jake started to say a few spells. " immobulus, incarcerous, impedimenta. " He continued to name spells.

Mithos raised his hand once again "Riddikulus of course against the boggarts!"

"The stunning spell, Stupefy."

Jake said another few spells. " Furnunculus, Locomotor Mortis. " He stopped and let other students answer. As he wrote down there answers.

"Well, I'm impressed. You've listed quite a number of spells. I see 10 points for Slytherin, 10 for Hufflepuff, and 15 for Ravenclaw. I don't want to dwell on this boring stuff any longer. Go ahead and push back your desks and find a partner. Make sure you have your wand. Let's start simple. I want you to practice Expelliarmus and Protego, since they are the most basic and the most vital."
