Francis raised her hand, "Alohomora, is an opening spell that comes from two different backgrouns. One, Aloho from the Hawaiian aloha meaning farewell or hello (which can be interpreted as the interaction of the words farewell=closing and hello=opening a conversation). And Mora from the Latin mora meaning obstacle."

Alohomora Jessica thought carefully Now what is it? she pounded her forehead in frustration, Charms was her favorite class, why didnt she know this?? she listend to all of the other students answer, they were pretty much the same thing, but she looked in the glossary just in case....yup, farewell obstacle. thats what it was. she pulled out a sugar cookie from a bag in her pocket and munched on it, waiting for the next question

Yes, yes...you are all correct! Alohomora broken down in Latin is as follows: "aloha" Haw. farewell + "mora" L. obstacle. Now I know that some of you are wondering what that has to do with unlocking somthing well, basically the charm causes the obstacle of the lock to dissappear, the lock is an obstacle because it is in your way of whatever you are trying to unlock  .
Now, the proper wand movement for alohomora is to wave your wand clockwise in the shape of a keyhole once while saying the incantation like so: * waves her wand to show the class the proper wand movement*. Now, if you will all line up in front of the door to the classroom you will practice the charm by unlocking the door.
*Waits for students to get lined up and ready*

Lee stepped froward first, he first of concentrated his stare at the lock. He raised his wand and went in a clockwise motion drawing and invisible lock, so to speak. he pronounced the incantation
"Alohomora"
The lock rattled for a moment, unable to lock or open. After a few minutes of waiting the lock decided to unlock.
"Hmmmmm must practise that more"

When it was her turn to go, Bailey walked and stood right in front of the door. She rolled up her sleeves and carefully performed the proper wand motions as she shouted, "Alohomora!" The door easily opened, and she smiled as she walked to the back of the classroom.
