Charms Lesson #3 - Unlocking Charms
 

Meghan walks in and takes a seat. She takes out all the material. "Hi there Professor."

Selena comes in to the classroom "Hi Professor Hanamon!" takes a seat

Mithos walked in the Charms Classroom and headed to the front of the class "Hello Professor, its very good to see you again!" he said grinning. He sat down and took out parchment, quill, ink and his Charms Book.

Francis walks in and smiles at the students already in the classroom. She takes her quills and parchments out, and waits for the lesson to begin.

Bailey walked into the classroom and took a seat. She pulled all of her materials out of her bag, placed them on her desk, and looked around while waiting for class to begin.

Kali sits down next to Francis and begins to take some of her things out of her bag.

"Hello Professor," she says.

Jaren wordlessly took a seat near the back row, pulled out his quill and parchment and waited.

*Jessica rushes in, happy that there was another charms lesson, she took her usual seat up front, took out her quill, parchment, and her charms spell book and looked up at the teacher, waiting for class to start* Hello Professor
Hanamon.

Nadia reached the classroom and sat somewhere in the middle, hoping to catch up on what the letter was about before class started.

*Ronnetta walks in shivering from the cold and sits as far away from the door as possible*

Rosa walked into the classroom and found a place in the back. she got out her book and looked a bit in it.

Serena quickly turned to page 687 and started to take notes.

Alohomora Charm

"aloha" Haw. farewell + "mora" L. obstacle

Lauren walks into the classroom, happy and excited. "Hi Professor Hanamon!" She exlcaims, finding a seat near the middle of the room and opening her book to the spot.

Meghan opens her book and waits for instructions. She thought "Wow this charm is easy." Even though she knew this spell she was always wanting to know more.

Nadia loudly groaned, blushing when noticing she had dragged some looks towards her. Unlocking Charms were her weak spot, she was never good at those, no matter how much she practiced it. Must be something relating to the idea of having to 'lock things away', because she knew it wasn't a problem of concentration. A subconscious thing, a weakness she had had since her first year. She looked down at her desk, wand kicking her quill away absentmindly. Mmh-ing, pensive as she was, she considered she should be somewhere else and minding something else. But forgetting things were quite a better option. Finally she Accio-ed her book from her bag, placed on the table without doing as much as moving a finger and charmed it open on the page in question. Here we go again... she needed to superate this one spell, definitely.

Serena raised her hand.

"Well, I know 'mora' stands for 'obstacle', but the word 'aloha' is Hawaiian for farewell. So, alohomora is farewell to obstacle."

Mithosr raised his hand " 'aloha' means farewell and 'mora' means obstacle."

Sarah sat writing notes, listening to her classmates answers.

Francis raised her hand, "Alohomora, is an opening spell that comes from two different backgrouns. One, Aloho from the Hawaiian aloha meaning farewell or hello (which can be interpreted as the interaction of the words farewell=closing and hello=opening a conversation). And Mora from the Latin mora meaning obstacle."

*sitting in class, Zekk pretends to read as he listens to everyone saying the same answers*

Alohomora Jessica thought carefully Now what is it? she pounded her forehead in frustration, Charms was her favorite class, why didnt she know this?? she listend to all of the other students answer, they were pretty much the same thing, but she looked in the glossary just in case....yup, farewell obstacle. thats what it was. she pulled out a sugar cookie from a bag in her pocket and munched on it, waiting for the next question

Drusilla writes down some notes.

OOC: This lesson will be finished tomorrow because I am off to an appointment right now. See you all tomorrow :D

Mithos tought of all the other unlocking spells/charms and wondered if he was going to learn about them too. But he couldn't wait to practice Alohamora.

Rosa lined up after a gryffindor girl. and practiced the wand movement without saying alohomora

Sarah lined up practising the wand movements.

"Alohomora," Xavier says. The lock rattles aruond a little bit but doesn't unlock.

"Alohomora," he says again. This time the lock clicks right open.

Meghan stood there and smiled. She got ready and said "Alohomora!"
Easily the door unlocked on first try like she knew it would... And she thought "If only I do this well in Transfirguration..."

Mithos pointed his wand to the lock moved its wand and said "Alohamora!" and the lock unlocked. He smiled happly. Mithos raised his hand "Professor, would this spell work on a lock with a charm that is supposed to make a lock.... locked? Like the locking Charm, Colloportus..."

When it was her turn to go, Bailey walked and stood right in front of the door. She rolled up her sleeves and carefully performed the proper wand motions as she shouted, "Alohomora!" The door easily opened, and she smiled as she walked to the back of the classroom.

Francis pointed her wand and exclaimed, "Alohomora!". The locked opened and she smiled weakly.

Linnea slowly walked to the door, whispered "Alohomora", and pointed her wand, she tried the door and found it locked still. Blushing She pointed her wand with more force and said more surely "Alohomora!", she tried the door again and found that it had worked this time, smiling to herself she walked back to the back of the class.

Nadia lined up despite herself, preparing herself for complete humilliation. She was, well, a fifth year! And one of the advanced students in various things, like, healing potions and some duelling... and here she couldn't perform a simple Alohomora Charm which even first years were experts. And here she tried and tried, but she was weak on them, she just was. When her turn came, she stepped forwards with some dread and pointed her wand upwards rather shakily and hesitantly. Ten she performed the right wand movement, a fairly nice pronounciation and...

The door bludged - or rather shook - momentarily. Then it rested there, teh same as before and not open but really closed shut. She groaned loudly and turned around, considering not stepping into the line again. But she wanted to get over this stupid problem, that she will. Or at least... she will try. She got herself in the back of the line again, a pained look on her face.

Serena waited her turn behind Nadia and then waited for the Professor to check that the door was locked.

"Alohomora!" she said as she carefully waved her wand.

Serena heard the lock click. Smiling, she moved out of the way for the next student.

Selena walked over to the door and pointed her wand at the lock

"Alohomora!!!" hearing the door unlock Selena smiled

Brandon waved his wand and said, "Alohomora!" He heard the lock click and he moved aside.

rosa walked to the door, pointed at it and said:'alohomora' she didn't hear a click but shen she tried to open the door it opened. quickly she closed it, happy her spell'd worked out.

Amy stepped forward, concentrating on the door. She pointed her wand at the keyhole.
"Alohamora!" She chanted, and the door lock clicked open. Amy smiled.
"Professor," Amy raised her hand. "Do you flick your wand at the end of its movement?" She asked, not remembering if she had done so.

Sarah walked up to the door and held out her wand. She pointed her wand at the keyhole.

"Alohomora!" She said clearly. The lock clicked open and Sarah smiled. "I've never been able to do a spell first time before."

Amy beamed, gathering her wand, notes, and bookbag.
"Thank you Professor. Have a nice weekend too!" She called out as she walked to her next class.

Meghan smiled at her house getting 25 points. "Thanks so much professor! You have a good weekend too!" Meghan gathered her things and left.

Xavier smiles at the professor. He grabs his bag and walks out.

Rosa smiled at every house getting points. it was fair after all. everyone was trying. she grabbed her stuff and her smile grew as she heard there wasn't any homework. 'bye professor' she said, walking out.

Evy packed her things, smiling slightly. She then walked quietly towards the door. That was a great class, she thought.

:Becca gets up and heads towards the door.:Thanks fo the great lesson Professor!

Sarah packed away her things and picked up her bag. "Bye Professor! Have a good weekend." Sarah said as she headed out of the door.

"KEWL! 25 POINTS IS A WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN A GOLD STAR!" Selena said while laughing

"Yes." Mithos said looking at the Slytherin girl and smiled "Thanks for the amazing lesson Professot! Have a good weekend yourself!" Mithos said to the Professor and left the Classroom.

"Have a good weekend, Professor!" Linnea said as she put all her books in her bag and left the room.

*Jessica pakced her books and reluctantly left the room, waving at professor hanamon*

munnie waved a good bye to the professor and left the room smiling, yay! 25 points is sure to bring us ahead of at least one house!
