Rosa raised her hand 'the largest corona in the solar system's from the sun and it's called the 'solar wind' ' |
Is it the sun? |
Kay raised her hand. "The largest corona in the solar system happens to belong to the sun. The corona is the outermost layer (outer atmosphere) of the Sun, starting at about 1300 miles (2100 km) above the surface." |
Francis smiled and waited for the next question. |
Sangeetha sat there, stumped. Shelooked around at here mates. true, she never was present at astronomy classes and she felt like a dork around. them as she felt she had given the lamest answer, unlike kay and rosa |
No this is a different type of corona. I will give you a big clue, all I need is the actual name... Coronae (roughly circular features surrounded by multiple concentric ridges) are so far unique to the planet Venus. They were discovered between 1990 and 1994 by the US Magellan spacecraft. The largest is the ________ corona, which has a diametre of 2100km. |
Alex raised her hand, hesitantly. 'Is it the Artemis Corona, Miss?' |
Yoko raised her hand (she appeared from no where) "It's the Artemis Corona! And I have some extra information: The interior of Artemis Corona, by far the largest corona at 2100 km diameter, is divided in half by a northeast-trending deformation belt that contains numerous rounded ridges resembling antiforms. The largest of these ridges, located at the center of Artemis Corona, is 5 km high on its steep northwest flank where it is adjacent to a flat-bottomed, 10-km-wide trough interpreted as a rift valley. The 280-km-long antiformal ridge is marked by perpendicular grooves that cross the 50-km-wide ridge and extend southeastward as far as 120 km across adjacent plains. |

Higest mountain in the Solar System? |
''The highest mountain in the Solar System is Olympus Mons on the planet Mars, which this week comes the closest to Earth it has been in 60,000 years – roughly 34.6 million miles. The peak of Olympus Mons is 25 km (15 miles) above its base, making it nearly three times the height of Mount Everest.'' |
Thats correct! Planet with the shortest day? |
''The planet Jupiter has the shortest day of all the nine major planets in the Solar System. It spins around on its axis once every 9 hrs 55 mins and 29.69 secs.'' |
Francis was about to raise her hand and say jupiter, but another student said it before her. Putting her hand back down, she waited for the next question. |
Yoko also wanted to answer that question, but it was too late. She smiled at the girl who raised her hand before her. "I don't think the teacher's here now" |

Okay, third last question so jump in! Planet with the longest day? |
Francis raised her hand, "Venus; a day on Venus takes 243 Earth days" |
That's right. Second last... Largest canyon in the Solar System? |
Julia raises her hand. "Valles Marineris?" |
Yes! Righto, luck last! 10 points just for fun... Fastest planet? |
Francis raised her hand, "Mercury" |
Yes! That's all folkes! |
