| Term 7: Sept- Dec 2004 Term Seven: The Draught of Ephemera (Sept. 2053 - June 2054) |

| | What in Merlin's Beard... Term7
We've all experienced it. Lay off SS for a few days, or a few well-chosen hours of the day to eat/work/go to class, and when you return...
BAM. Did anyone get the number of that truck?
Anyway, this is a thread where you can catch up on the latest happenings of the school plot, instead of wandering the hallway lost and confused...
To be rather frank, from the top:
The staff has decided to brew the Draught of Em...Emphe...okay, a potion that will bring the ghosts back to life.
Lord Voldemortist has caught ear of this events through his servant (identity unknown) and has arrived at Hogwarts, to date having murdered seven students: Two Gryffindor (Ron, Kelli(?)), One Hufflepuff (?), Three Ravenclaw (Kagome, Mike, Patricia) and Two Slytherin (Ralph, Nico). He currently resides in the Forbidden Forest. A "state of emergency" has been declared, and all students are to stay within the castle walls. Professor Rae and Professor Lainley are on the grounds to retrieve the bodies of the latest students killed in the Gamekeeper's Hut. Standing guard is a small group of students. LORD VOLDEMORTIST HAS ARRIVED! There is a decidedly one-sided battle going on outside the school gates, and already one student has been killed (Gryffindor?). The conclusion of the battle is still to be determined, but cast your bets. Lord Voldemortist is now in the Entrance Hall, and being attacked from basically all sides. Backing him is a Slytherin girl Ari, though he doesn't appear to care or notice. He's just been stopped in his tracks with a Full Body Bind casted by Professor Rae...but will it hold him? After managing to reach the hallways, Voldemortist was not only tailed and attacked by Professor Rae and her enthusiastic helpers, but faced a homemade obsticle course that resembles a full-scale version of something out of a "Home Alone" movie, prepared by both Nadia and Ganymede. It caused him a little trouble, but after apparently using Legitimency on Sir Puppington, Voldemortist discovered a secret passageway to bypass the Hallway of Ultimate Messes. Rae has hit him with an Impediment Jynx at the entrance to the passageway, and Ari has been subdued...for now. It's all up to Proffesor Rae to stop the Dark Lord. In the Spirit Room, a small band of students is preparing to ambush Voldemortist should he make it this far. All are disillusioned and anxiously waiting. Headmaster Hendrik's status is unknown.
Professor Rae duelled Lord Voldemortist in the secret passageway and into the main room of the Spirit Room, where she was stabbed for her efforts and left to die while Voldemortist made off with the BoM to who knows where next. Sir Spots attempted to help by performing the ritual in hopes that, with a body, he would be able to escort Professor Rae to the Hospital Wing, but the attempt failed. Now we have no Sir Spots.
Professor Lainley has left the Hospital Wing, desperate to reach the Spirit Room in time to help/save Professor Rae. Right now she's having difficultly getting across the leftover booby traps in the hall (oops!) and is escorted by Terry Weasley and Jaren Kymers, who will probably insist on backing her up (chronicler's note: count on it )
Professor Rae has been taken to the Hospital Wing.
The potion is almost finished; and another potion, a counter potion, has just been brewed by three students (Nadia, Terry, Raven) under the "instruction" of the school Poltergist Samea.
Sadly, the "counterpotion" Samea gave the students caused the drinker to become encased in iron. Raven being the unfortunate one to consume it first, has been escorted to the Hospital Wing to see what can be done about it.
The potion is completed, and has been moved to the Spirit Room, where whatever it is will commence. The ritual (or ceremony, whatever) is well underway. Marcella has been restored (hurrah!) as well as Professor Lainey (hurrah again!) but the latter seems to have some minor difficulties. Marcella has moved herself (or has been moved) to the Intensive Care Unit in the Hospital Wing, where a Slytherin student has stumbled upon her in her newly restored and alive form. (That would be me. ) Hendrik seems to have detected a strange presence around the main room, so stay tuned...
Kris Airlia has been restored, but considering she should have died 50 years ago, she returned into the body of a 90-something year old. Not pleasant. Also, the Slytherin who first met reincarnated Marcella collapsed to the ground at around the time Lord Voldemortist appeared and killed the student (draw your own conclusions, I'm not telling why. ) Currently he has recovered and has returned to stand guard over Professor Riddle, but will he be allowed to stay?
Professors Airlia and Pheonix have awakened...somewhat. Hendrik has left to confront Lord Voldemortist (HUZZAH!) DUEL OF THE FATES: Aaaand the results are in!! HM Hendrik v.s. Lord Voldemort: Round One at the Entrance Hall Result: Hendrik 0, Lord Voldemort 1 HM Hendrik + Hendrik + Hendrik + Hendrik (did I miss anyone?) v.s. Lord Voldemort: Round Two at the Castle Grounds (near Forbidden Forest) Result: Hendrik 1 + BoM, Lord Voldemort 0 (Note from Dark_Chimera: He stole that cloning idea from Monkey King!) HM Hendrik: Hahahaha! very Funny! I never even heard of Monkey King! I thought it was a somewhat original idea....*sigh* Oh well. Overall victor: By a hair, HM Hendrik! (The crowd goes wild. Cheers, confetti, several tired students and staff collapse.) Current status of downed staff: Professor Riddle: Asleep Professor Lainley: Asleep Professor Rae: Asleep Professor Pheonix: Semi-unconcious, very sick Headmaster Hendrik: Awake, in Intensive Care Unit, watching Professors Professor Airlia: Semi-concious(?) Sir Puppington: Gone forever... Nurse Lotus: Working overtime.
Season: Early to mid winter. Lots of snow. Stormy because of HM Hendrik clone changing the weather.
Status of student body: Zzzzz....
Time: I don't know anymore. Late afternoon?
OOC: I feel like a sports announcer..."And a left hook! A right hook! And heeee's out!" |

I'm asking because, as far as I undertand, today ends the school RPG (and we should be boarding the Hogwarts experss tomorrow? lol) and I've found no signs of a thread or celebration for Gryffindor's victory starting. Either I guess we are behind schedule or you don't plan on having a ball?
Just wondering.
You're correct, but we're actually much closer to our schedule than we normally are at this point in teh term. You should give us a big ol' pat on the back! As for the Gryff victory, you'll have to wait and see. I know some of the finals aren't graded yet, and I"m not sure what the Headmaster has in mind as celebration. We're not THAT behind schedule... please cut us some slack. *cries* *grins*

It would also publish that rumors had gone about that Voldemortist himself had been seen on the grounds and had entered the school for some unknown reason. Perhaps something about the ghostly staff all being returned to their living forms (except Spots), although the students and outside world would have no idea how that had happened.
Basically, a bit of the Rita Skeeter line of journalism... a lot of speculation and a few facts sprinkled in. I think parents would be very uneasy about sending their kids back next term. I don't know that you can say all the students don't know what went on in the Spirit Room this term. After all Jaren and I have had contact with Professor Lainey after to returned to the land of the living. We were also present in the hospital wing when Professor Rae told Professor Hendrik about Sir Spot's untimely demise. By the time the next term begins I image just about all the school will know about at least some of it. |

Only if you and Jaren snitch! *stares at you* I suppose its reasonable for all the students to know the state of the professors, but how much would the outside world know before those students went home? And... how much do you as students know about WHY and HOW these things happened this term? Not a whole lot, I hope.

I donno, in my experience rumors spread like the plague (gah). Nah, Jaren is very quiet and hardly says anything, though considering that he was there at that time says something about the underground network of information...I say no more. Somebody's probably figured it out anyway.

*gives them a big ol' pat on the back* Good to know! No, I wasn't doubting your abilities of sticking to time but I was wondering if you were thinking of adding a day to the schedule. Today is the last day of school but maybe not of 'staying at school' *wink wink*
EDIT: I can see why you cancelled the yuleball, though. *nods nods*
This is the thing, and which I also thought when in Nadia's first term, aka 3th => There's absolutely no way the Ministry would be kept in the shadows about all of it and, any case, would be conspirational to the school staff (hehe). Why, it is not easy to keep secret the many deaths - in the third term they were about 3, now they are seven or so, including the disappearance of Sir Spot (just after being awarded this same year), and most of them being kids (in the third term the only kid was orphan(is she?) Marcella)! How will Hendrik explain to the parents and not communicate the happenings?
Plus, nobody would notice the fact that the once-ghost have returned to life? Oh, c'mon! One look at their bodies from only a couple of students (which already passed by there) and the rumours would have fled though the school - Not a comon happening, not even in the Wizarding World. Now, maybe not outside the school just yet, but surely once they do you have another problem to face:
How will you explain that the professors came back from death without revealing the mystery of the Book of Mysteria and its whereabouts to the Ministry and, even, to the Daily Prophet? You have pretty much blow your cover up and, once the fact that such a secret book is held within Hogwarts walls where students are involved, the parents, authorities and wizard community would sure ask for the book to be (at last!) removed from the school!
And then... what? I wouldn't be too surprised if Hendrik was sacked by order of the Ministry if he dared not tell them from before. Or even if a couple of professors land on Azkaban for dark illegal activities in a public place. As I see it, if you play they, the Ministry, didn't know from the beggining then you are getting in the worst problem ever.
And there's pretty much no way out: how can you explain a couple of were-to-be dead bodies walking around the place? News will just... fly.

Yes, well... as I said... those are interesting questions to be bringing up, and we've had next term mapped out for a little while now. You'll have to see if those issues unfold next term. In the meantime, you can make assumptions based on what I posted above: the general world knows about the newly-alive teachers and the student deaths, but doesn't know how or why. More will come out next term, I assure you, but the only thing the general public will know is what the students can share and what the professors choose to share. THUS... the professors choose to share nothing and the students know only the tip of the iceburg.
Of course, I'll completely understand if your parents refuse to let you come back next term, students. *waves sadly* I'll miss you.

The virtue of having an uncle who doesn't, to put it kindly, care two pence about his nephew, is that Jaren will indeed be back for another series of unfortunate events next school term.
Looking forward to more wackiness,
Backslash, AKA Jaren, AKA whatever else you may know me by.

I might tell my parents, but they'd never believe Voldemortist ended up at Hogwarts this term. After all my father works at Gringotts Bank and nothing exciting ever happens there. |

I know the fun of it! *snickers* Nadia just loves to revealing secrets - no, wait, I love HER unfolding secrets! And here she wants to be an Unforgivable... tsk.
There's more than one reason why Nadia might not be coming back, or at least not as always (aka, obsessed 24/7) but I won't tell for sure - she looks like take over my body and do her will everytime I play her, lol. But on the other hand... she might be coming with a good excuse for the protective parents she has... only also she would need a plan not to let them realize it's a lie. she probably won't be coming back to that magic summer school she always goes to. Lol
Anyway, I am rambling. Thanks for the tips, Erin! Maybe we can work for that now... I just need some way to explain the Ministry of Magic knowledge. (My Seer Eyes sees.... not telling you, but I already made a prediction of what is happening^^) And so I bid you good by and good night. Don't let the mosquitoes bite you!

Ah... *poke* But if you don't tell, then we'll never know if you correctly predicted things or not. *shrug* Oh well... guess you'll have to wait and see what we've cooked up.

Okay, now that the term has ended I'm going to go ahead and rename and lock this thread. Jaren will go ahead and start the new "What in Merlin's Beard" thread for next term when he gets the chance. Thank you everyone for your contributions. *claps*
