Transfiguration Lesson One
 

Professor McAiken enters his classroom and with a wave of his wand lights all the candles and lamps in the room. He walks to front of the room and sets his notes on the desk. He moves around the room taking a short inventory to assure his supplies have arrived and are in place for today's lesson. From one of the jars on shelves he takes a hand full of needles and places them on his desk. Turning toward his chalkboard yet still several feet away he writes on the board using his wand.

He writes:

• What is Transfiguration?
• How does it different from other spells?
• Practice lesson

Satisfied his room is ready, he checks his watch for the time and decides he has time for tea before class. Locking the door, he heads towards the Staff Lounge.

Jade enters the classroom, and immediately heads to a desk in the front. "Hello, Professor." She smiles shyly, and begins to organize her materials as she waits for the lesson to begin.

Hello Jade, we'll bring when a few more students pop in.

OOC I have to leave at the top of the hour to talk with my Housemaster. But the class will resume as soon as I finish with that. Hopefully it won't take long, but you never know. Didn't know I would need to meet with him when I scheduled the class this morning.

Hello Professor! *Sarah said cheerfully walking into the classroom abd taking her seat and getting her stuff out and putting it on her desk*

At a brisk pace Gabby walked in and sat at a desk towards the middle of the room a few seats away from the front.

"Good afternoon Professor!"

Looking back down at some paper she started to write the notes from the board.

* walks into class, smiles and nods at the professor and takes a seat at the back and sets out her parchment and quills and begins copying the notes off the board

-SHauna walks into the classroom, yawns and takes a seat in the back of the room- Hello professor

-copies the notes-

Jaren walks into the classroom and takes a seat near the back. He pulls out a quill and a roll of prachment and copies what was written on the board, then waits for the Professor to start the lesson.

Llew quietly enters the classroom and quickly takes a seat next to Mia

Kali walks into the classroom and chooses a seat near the middle of the room.

"Hello Professor," she says as she takes out assorted things from her bag.

Stephanie walks into the classroom smiles at the professer then takes a seat in the front taking out a quill and some parchment writing whats on the board.

"Hello, Professor!"

*sits down in the front and copies notes*

"Hi Mia..." He says as he begins taking out his stuff.

Sativa walks in and smiles at everyone *hi ya'll* then sits in the chair closest to the door and takes out her quills

Pookah stares at Sativa for a while....

"hi".

*Tara walks into the classroom and takes a seat at the front*

Hello, Professor! How are you?

*She gets out her parchment and quill and begins to copy what's on the board*

"Hi y´all!"

Drusilla Black walks in, nods to the professor and takes her seat. She looks slightly nervous, but very interested.

*raises hand.
"The dictionary defination of transfigure is: to change the outward form or appearance of."

Transfiguration magic is the magic dealing with changing one thing into another.

*raises hand again.


"transfiguration magic is when you change one object into another. It is possible to change an inanimate object into an animate one, and vise versa."

*Raises hand.

"transfiguration is magic which changes one object into another."

-begins taking notes at once-

*raises her hand*

"You could also think that transfiguration magic changes objects inner form."

-finsihes the notes and begin looking around the room for her friends. she sees a few, but most of them she doesnt know.-

*smiles to Cassandra and afton*

Polyjuice potion?

-writes that down, slowly so it will be neat and so she wont get ink all over herself, since shes left handed-

* Reign smiles as her Slytherins are off to a good start in this first class.

*makes a thumbs up to Reign*

"Good job Backslash, another 5 points to your house and 3 points to Hpgurl for pointing out that hair is most often used in the potion as the bit of the person you are transfiguring into."

"Transfiguration can be simple like switching the name of piece of paper or badge or very difficult. The change may not be complete like turning into an anamagus; it can be a partial change to disguise you. You even learn some Transfiguring magic in DADA. Professor Rae covered one of our Transfiguration spells in her Young Auror's Club last term I understand, can anyone remember it?"

"To change the outward form or apperance." Stephanie said confidently

Stepahanie walks up to Professer's desk and takes a pin then walks back to her desk and practices the fairly easy spell.

*kirstie takes a pin and sets it on her desk and stares at it*

-gets up and goes and gets a pin and returns to her set. wonders if they can start-

* goes to the Professor's desk and takes a pin then goes back and sits in her seat.

* pulls out her Ebony wand and waves it above the pin and says, "convertere". The pins wiggles around a little bit and then turns into a pillbox.

"Coolness. Got it on the first try."

*Kirstie quietly waves at Ashton and gives her the thumbs up before turning her attention to her pin*

'convertere'

*The pin shakes slightly then stops*

*Tara gets up, walks over to the desk, and takes a pin. She sits back down and lays the pin on her desk. She pulls the sleeves of her robes up, ready to start*

Convertere *Tara muttered, pointing her wand at the pin*

*concentrating harder, Kirstie performs the incantation once more and is pleased to see her pin change into a small pillbox*

Tina does what is told. "Converte." It turns into a perfect pin box with decorations just the way she liked.

"Convertere!"
-doesnt work-

"Convertere!!"
-the pin sits there for about 10 seconds. it wiggles the turns into a pillbox
-

*Remembers what the professor had said and thought of what she wanted the pin to become. Consentrating, she muttered the spell again. The pin quivered and suddenly changed into a pillbox*

After three attemts stephanie got her pillbox the way she had imagined it pink with blue polka-dots.

*puts the pin on her desk and waves her wand with short downward motion*

"Convertere", she commands.

"You can use the same incantation with a swish and flick motion of the wand to reverse the transfiguration," the professor explains when almost all the students had performed the spell successfully."

OOC: I think I'll call it a night and pick the lesson back up tomorrow. It is after 1 am here in the UK. See you tomorrow and thanks for being a great class to work with in my first lesson ever! You can continue to practice in the thread in you like. Again well done.

"Hm"
-trys it the other way-
"Convertere!"
-the pillbox turns back into a pin-

*Kirstie points her wand at the pillbox, repeats the incantation, then watches as it turns back into the original pin*

* Reign swishes and flicks and turns her pillbox back into a pin.

Stephanie flicks her wand the other way and to her surprise the pill box goes back to being a pin.

"Convertere!!" Mia said with the swish and flick of her wand and the spell reversed on the first try.

*Tries to reverse the spell by swishing and flicking and saying the spell. She watched with a smile on her face as the pillbox turned back into a pin*

"Convertere"

The pillbox turned back into a pin.

Reign makes some notes, rolls up her parchment, collects her stuff and leaves the class, excited about what she might learn in the next class.

*nods and trys to reverse the spell* Covertere! *smiles wide as the pillbox turns back into a pin*

Jaren pulled out his wand and made a short downward movement with it, pointing at the pin on the table. "Convertere!" It promptly turned into a pillbox. He repeated the incantation, this time with the upward sweeping motion the professor just taught them, and turned the box back into a pin.

Francis, who was seating down in the front, takes notes of what the teacher has said. Smiling, she waits patiently for the next comments

Llew continues to struggle attempting to change his pin into a pillbox, "convertere!" After numerous tries he sighs, and looks around at the other students before continuing slowly again.

"Converte." It turns back into a perfect pin.

Llew finally succeeds in changing his pin into a silvery, narrow pillbox with a sharp point. He smiles proudly to himself then looks around again, and noticing Mia's quick progress he sighs again and goes back to attempting to reverse the spell.

Riiya places her quill down on the table and got up from her chair. she had sat behind, so she had to line up to get the pin. she moved slowly to the front, as she did, she watched as everyone tried their efforts to change the pin into a pill box. she closed her eyes and then looked to the front. once she reached to the desk, she picked up a pin and walked back to her seat. she placed the pin on her table, beside her parchement. taking out her wand from her pocket robe, Riiya looked at the pin. she pointed at the pin.

At one swift short downward motion, she said, "convertere." The pin rolled on the table to the left and then transformed into a beautiful small blue pill box. she kept back her wand and picked up her box. satisfied of her work she sat back down. she picked up her quill again. she gazed at the class who were all busy transfigurating the pin, she looked back down to her parchment and wrote a few more notes from class.

A question arrised from her mind. she was confronted by this question before and wanted to confirm her reply. she raised her hand and looked up, hoping that the Professor saw her hand from the front. then it struck her. she was about to ask a question...in class...while everyone was still there..fear came to her mind, but it was too late now.

"Excuse m-me, Professor. i was curious about the concept o-of Transfiguration. how does it work exactly...?"

Chryssie frowned and pointed her wand at the pin.

"Convertere" she muttered and smiled as she watched her pin transform into a shocking pink pill-box.

*Moving up to the Professors desk Cassandra retrieves a pin and heads back to her own desk. Pulling out her mahogany wand she points the tip of it at the pin and concentrates hard on the pin becoming a pillbox. With a downward movement and the word convertere, the pin becomes a pillbox. After a moment of listening to the Professor Cassandra does the reverse of the spell with a swish and flick movement and the incantation again.



Smiling a bit proud of herself she beams as she realizes she's done her first real bit of magic. With the task at hand accomplished she looks around the classroom to see how the other students are doing. Noticing the Slytherin girl who had smiled at her earlier and some of students from all of the houses.*

With a somewhat defeated look, Llew continues to attempt to re-transfigure his pin back from a pill box. After numerous tries, his pill box changes back into a pin and begins rolling around on the desk. Llew quirks an eyebrow and looks at the chaotic pin...

*Hayley sits down at a desk in the back of the class. She takes out her quill, ink bottle, and a peice of parchment. She copies the notes down, then walks up to the Professors desk to retrieve the pin. Back at her desk, after a few tries, she successfully manages to turn the pin into a pillbox and back again. Smiling to herself she drops her quill and patiently waits for the next bit*


*After another hour or so of simple spells, Hayley packs up her materials and head to her next class*

"Convertere," Eric said with a swish of his wand. His pin turned into a matchbox instead. "Great," he muttered under his breath.

Very good HBP, 5 points to Gryffindor for an excellent response. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Riiya the special quality that makes you a witch is the very reason that you are able to do Transfiguration magic. All the things have the ability to change so our powers can use that to do Transfiguration magic. It's like a chemical or math formula in it most complex terms. The laws of the earth and of our kind rule even us but we have a power that allows us to skip steps that muggles have to take. A muggle can produce a pillbox out of a pin too, but he would need to use more than one step because he would need several pins then melt it, and form the new object by manufactoring processes.

-Shauna takes her pin and mutter "Convertere" silently, pointing her wand directly at the pin. Her pin instantly turns into a pillbox-
Exellent

Francis lifts up her wand, and says "Convertere!" towards the pin. Smiling, she picks up the pillbox. She repeats the exercise for a while, smiling proudly. This time, however, she transforms the pillboxes with different colors and with different shines.
