guys i'm soo excited to be on the reserve team....um i have a question doesnt she update the psotions to have the players on ??? ^~*keni's girl*~ i love ur sig |
Here is the list of players: Regular Team Chaser # 1:seekersgurl 1609 Chaser # 2:~*Keni's Girl*~ (co-captain) Chaser # 3:bethzc Beater # 1:Riiya Beater # 2: Keeper: Seeker: Mrs. Weasley (captain) Reserve Team Chaser # 1:starrilicious Chaser # 2:Lee_Halliwell Chaser # 3: Beater # 1: quidditchfan999 Beater # 2: Keeper:Hp Nerd Seeker:Hamsteries There are still a few positions available so if you know of anyone who would like them please tell them I must know by 10pm U.S. Eastern Standard Time Monday. I also need to know if the members of the regular team are going to be able to actively participate in the game. As you know the rules have been changed this term and reserve team members can only be used as substitutes for regular team members. So it is important that I know who can play and who cannot. The starting line up must be posted by Wednesday night, so I'm giving you'll to Midnight Wednesday (again that is Eastern Standard Time in the U.S. and Canada) to let me know something. Spot also lives in the Eastern Time Zone, but he has assured me he will be posting questions at various times of the day and night, so everyone should have a chance to participate. If I do not get a Beater #2 or Keeper for the Regular Team, I will have to use the reserve members in these positions. I will post the final starting line up by Friday at the latest in The Common Room and Quidditch Threads. I also plan to hold a meeting in this thread starting sometime today to discuss rules and anything else so we can be ready for the game. The game will start Saturday October 23, and will run at least a week or until one team catches three snitches. Please continue to check this thread. |
yes, captain ^^ i am able to attend on saturday's match :) i hope everyone else would be too. at the worst, i hope i can reduce Slytherin's points as much as i can :) |
I am available to attend as a reserve beater Saturday |
What time is the match on Saturday again? If it is before 3:00 PM Pacific Standard Time then I'll be there : ) Hamsteries |

Quidditch Meeting I'm sure everyone knows, our match with Slytherin will begin Saturday October 23. Spot has not given ans exact time, so it is up to you to check the Quidditch Pitch from time to time to see if the game is going on. As I have stated before, the Quidditch rules have been changed this term. Under the new rules, each team can have only seven players on the field at one time. For that reason, each team will have a starting line up made up of the following players: 3 chasers, 2 beaters, 1 keeper, and 1 seeker. Only those players whose name appears on the starting rooster can participate when the game begins. The captain and co-captain can make five substitutions during the game. I will explain how this works later. For now I plan to stick to explaining the basics of the game. To be honest, I"m not exactly sure who are new players and who have played Quidditch before, so I'm going to explain the rules like you'll are all new to the game. Chasers and Keeper At the beginning of the match, Spot will flip a coin, and I asume the winning captain's team will get the first chaser question. Chaser questions are directed to one particular house. That house's 3 chasers can answer these questions. Example Question Quaffle: How many fouls can be made in Quidditch? Quaffle answer: 700 It is a good idea to identify what question you are answering. In the past referees have asked multiple questions at a time. You can have a chaser question directed to Hufflepuff, a chaser question directed at Sytherin, a beater question, and a seeker question all in one post. So it's a good idea to let the referee know what question you are answering. The two terms I have played Quidditch, chaser questions have been stated in the following manner: A Chaser Question for Hufflepuff: When was the Appleby Arrows founded? Chaser Answer: 1612 This is an inportant point to remember. Only the first asnwer counts in this game. It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. Sometime after the question has been answered (again this depends on when Spot decides to show up at the Quidditch Pitch.) he will let us know if the answer is correct and award the points. A correct answer will earn your team 10 points. There should be a scoreboard located somewhere in Quidditch Pitch, and everytime points are awarded, this board will be updated. So it is not only inportant that you be the first person to answer, but you should also answer the question correctly. Someone said Nadia was a fountain of information on Harry Potter. That is true, but she has a tendency to answer questions before she gets her facts straight. My first term as Seeker, she was Slytherin's seeker too, and she would make me so mad because she would answer the question first but give the wrong answer. Keeper The Keeper, like the Chaser, is one of the most active players on the field. The difference is the Keeper can not earn points for their team. It is the job of the Keeper to block the other team's goals. Remember Wood guards the goal posts for Gryffindor. The Keeper guards the goal post by answering the opposing teams Chaser questions. Example Question Chaser Question for Slytherin: What is the first real present Harry receives for his birthday? Keeper to Block: A large, sticky chocolate cake given to him by Hagrid on their first meeting. I'm not sure if that is the correct way to answer the question, but you should let Spot know you are blocking Slytherin's quaffle. Again after the question is answered correctly, Spot will post that the Slyterin goal as be successfully blocked. If the question was answered incorrectly, he will say the goal has been successfully made. I'm not sure if Slytherin would be awarded the 10 points or not. I'll have to ask Spot about that and let you know. Anyway, only correct answers can block the opposing teams goal. Spot says that if the Keeper answers the question first, but incorrectly, they basically give 10 points to the other team so the keeper should make sure they know the answer before trying to block. This concludes our first meeting. In the second meeting I plan to cover the role of the beaters and seekers. I hope to have this meeting posted by tomorrow. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them. I will check them out the next time I'm online. |
Quidditch Meeting #2 In the last meeting I covered the rules concerning the Chasers and Keeper. This meeting I plan to discuss the Beaters and Seekers. If there is enough time, I may go into some of the miscellaneous rules. Beaters and Seeker The beaters and seeker can sometimes be the most boring positions in Quidditch. We generally fly around waiting for the referee to ask a beater or seeker question. To quote Spot, "the Beaters don't have too inportant of a role, so they needn't be here all the time. Every once in a while a Bludger Question wii be asked." The only problem with this theory is you never know when Spot will ask a Bludger question. It's a good idea to check the Quidditch Pitch when your online and see if a Bludger question has been asked. Bludger Questions can be answered by either teams two beaters. Example Question Bludger: Who holds the record for th fasted capture of a Snitch to date? Bludger Answer: Roderick Plumpton As with the chaser and keeper questions, the first answer right or wrong is the only one that counts. The Beater who answers correctly first has thus hit the Bludger and deducted 10 points from the opposing team. The Seeker is the final position on the Quidditch Team. It is also considered the most inportant position because when the snitch is caught, the game is over. The team, whose Seeker catches the Snitch, is also awarded 150 points. In snitchseekers.com's Quidditch Game, the Seeker must answer three snitch questions correctly before he has officially caught the snitch and the game is over. Example Question Snitch: Who was the first person to cross the Atlantic by broom? Snitch Answer: Jocunda Sykes Seeker questions can come from various sources including all the Harry Potter Books and movies. Last term one of the seeker questions was What is Alan Rickman's full name? In general most of the questions that chasers, keepers, and beaters answer come from Quidditch Through the Ages, but there have been times when questions have been asked from the other Harry Potter books and the movies. If an answer to a question is to come from one of the books, the question usually includes that fact. Example Question What does Sirius Black give Harry at the end of Book 3, besides the letter? Answer: Permission to go to Hogsmeade. One final thing when it comes to answering questions in general. A question that has been asked will remain posted until it is either answered correctly or incorrectly by the appropriate player. There is no time limit when it comes to answering questions. In other words, Spot can post a question at 10am EDT, and the appropriate player not post an answer to the question until say 6pm EDT. The player does not have to be online at the same time as Spot to be able to answer the question. So it is important to check the Quidditch Pitch everytime you come online to see if there are any new questions posted. This concludes Meeting #2. The next meeting will cover the rest of the general rules and the proper conduct at the match. |

Mrs. Weasley, I am sorry to hear about your grandmother... Also, If you need me to sub as another position (besides seeker) if you don't have them all filled, I would be more them happy to. Hamsteries |
Quidditch Meeting #3 This will be the last meeting before the match. It will start Saturday October 23 and is suppose to last 3 to 4 day. Fot the record, Spot is the only one who knows the exact time and how long it will last. I've seen him post as early as 8am EDT and as late as 1am EDT, so he could post at anytime. He has also said he will vary the times he post to accommodate te different time zones. Now back to the rules. The remaining rules apply to all players, so read them carefully. Rule #1 Thou shalt not edit or delet your posts! Any player or Mod found to have either altered or deleted a post will cost their team the match and 100 points towards the house cup. In other words when you submit your answer, that's it. You cannot correct spelling or replace a wrong answer with the right one. You cannot change your answer in any way. Spelling and punctuation errors will not be held against you, so long as Spot can make out your answer everything will be okay. The only people allowed to alter or delete a post are the people responsible for refereeing the match. The next rule deals with the substitution of players. Only the captain or co-captain can request a player substitution. All Substitutions must be approved by the Referee before the players have been officially changed. Substitutions can be made using members of the reserve team or by switching the postions of the starting team members. Example of a Regular Team Member being switched with a Reserve Team Member Seeker Mrs.Weasley switches positions with Reserve Seeker Hamsterie. In this instance I have made the Reserve Seeker the new Seeker. Mrs. Weasley is now sitting on the bench and unable to play. You can also take reserve team members and substitute them in positons other than the ones they are assigned to play before the match. Example Reserve Team Seeker Hamsteries swithches with Main Team Chaser bethzc. In this instance I have taken the reserve team seeker and made him the main team chaser. Finally you can also change positions among the starting players during the match. Example Chaser #1 seekergurl1609 changes positions with Seeker Mrs. Weasley. In this instances Mrs. Weasley as become Chaser #1 and seekergurl1609 has become Seeker. It is important for the captain and co-captain to remember only 5 substitutions can be made during the match. The substitutions made in the starting line up do not count towards the 5 substitutions. It is also important to remember that when you change positions, and it has been approved by the referee, you can only answer queations in your new position. If you are a chaser who has been changed to the keeper position, you are only allowed to answer keeper question. Answering a chaser question will put you in violation of the rules. Now that you understand how the subtitution rules work, I must tell you for this match, co-captain ~*Keni's Girl*~ will be making all substitutions during the match. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to follow the game like I normally do, so I am asking her to handle this duty. This get us to house points. House points will be awarded based on the score. Spot will take both teams' scores, subtract the winning score from the losing one, and the sum will be the points awarded. Example Gryffindor 150, Slytherin 50 Spot will subtract 150 from 50. 150-50=100 points. Gryffindor would get 100 house points and Slytherin would get none. In the past house points have been awarded at the end of the term. I do not know if Spot will continue this practice or not. Finally I want to list the character's birthdays and other interesting facts that have been listed on J.K. Rowling's website. Spot may choose to use this information among his questions. Potter Facts Before her marriage Mrs. Weasley was Molly Prewett. Arthur Weasley is one of three brothers. Hermione's full name is Hermione Jane Granger. Ginny's full name is Ginevra, and she is the first girl to be born in the Weasley clan in several generations. James Potter's eyes are hazel. Sirius Black's eyes are gray. The US version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is 257,045 words. The appoximate number of words for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is 255,000 words. Alberforth Dumbledore is the barman in the Hog's Head. Dumbledore's patronus is a phoenix. Harry Potter Birthdays Harry James Potter: July 31, 1980 Neville Longbottom: July 31, 1980 Ginevra (Ginny) Wealsey: August 11, 1981 Hermione Jane Granger: September 19, 1980 Fred and George Weasley: April 1 Percy Weasley: August 22 Professor Minerva McGonagall: October 4 Professor Filuis Flitwick: October 17 |
Starting Line Up Listed below is the starting line up I posted in the Captain's Locker Room. I would like every team member to check it and make sure I have spelled your names right. The positions listed on the line up are the postions you are suppose to play when the game begins. ~*Ken's Girl*~ will probably be making substitutions during the match. Hufflepuff's Starting Line Up Chaser #1: seekergurl1609 Chaser #2: ~*Keni's Girl*~ (co-captain) Chaser #3: bethzc Beater #1: Riiya Beater #2: quidditchfan999 Keeper: Hamsteries Seeker: Mrs. Weasley (captain) Hufflepuff Regular Team Chaser #1: seekergurl1609 Chaser #2: ~*Keni's Girl*~ (co-captain) Chaser #3: bethzc Beater #1:Riiya Beater #2: Keeper: Seeker: Mrs. Weasley (captain) Hufflepuff Reserve Team Chaser #1: starrilicious Chaser #2: Lee_Hallwell (not available) Chaser #3: Beater #1: quidditchfan999 Beater #2: Keeper: Hp Nerd Seeker: Hamsteries |
