Last term...

Professor Phoenix left her office soon after, only to return a couple of minutes later. She was carrying a thick-looking cloak over her arm, along with a carton full of bits and pieces. Hurriedly, she placed both things on her desk, took out an elastic and tied her hair together to a long ponytail before taking up the dark travelling cloak and slipping into it. Then she turned to her desk, and started filling the numerous pockets with different items from the cardboard box: Vials, carefully packed to not shatter, different transfigured objects that had been made smaller to fit better, a dagger, a flask, some food.

Then, she walked around the room briskly, putting things into place, cleaning up here and there with her wand. In the end, she stopped near a bookcase, and with a spell, opened a secret panel. The only thing inside was a grubby piece of parchment, but it was what she was looking for. It was hastily pushed into an inside pocket of her cloak. She closed the secret compartment again, looked around her office once more. Pulled out the parchment again, studied it for a moment.

Finally, Professor Phoenix heaved a sigh, and stowed the parchment away again. No doubt, she liked travelling a lot, but a departure like this reminded her too forcefully of events in her life that had long ago come to pass. So now she was off to the Dead Sea…now she was on the road again.

Professor Phoenix took one last glace around the office before closing the curtains, turning the whole scene even darker and gloomier. She picked up her wand, slipped the hood of her travelling cloak over her head, and disappeared through the door for one last stop in the Great Hall, before her carriage arrived to take her to Hogsmeade, and then back to London.

Francis steps into Prof Phoenix's office, only to find it empty. "Umm...", she says as she looks around. "Well.. I can always say hello when she comes back" she decides after a few minutes

The tiredness had not vanished when sitting with the other members of the staff, and as much as Phoebe wanted to hear about the events of the past month, she soon realized that she was not fit enough to stay in the Great Hall for too long. Now that the one weight was off her shoulders, another had already jumped on: Kobus. Seeing his tired, weary expression at the table seemed to be pushing the load down even more on her, until she suddenly felt so sick and strangled that she needed to get away.

She sat in the comfortable darkness of her office, watching the flames in the grate, falling asleep in the armchair every now and then as her thoughts drifted off. Then the crumbling logs in the fireplace would awaken her with a start, until Phoebe finally decided it was enough and retired for the night.

Dawn crept in through her blinds softly—the morning was grey and cold, but beautifully so. After laying in the warm bed for several more minutes, Phoebe finally got up, greeted by a fresh breeze as she opened the bedroom window. Within minutes, she was ready and left her bedroom through the secret passageway in the bookshelves that transported her back to her office.

Here, she sat down and started organizing the lessons and new term. Being away during the holidays had disrupted her preparation, and she had a lot to catch up upon. She longed to see Kobus, but did not want to disturb him that early in the morning. And so, with what seemed like a twinge of guilt, she resolved to maybe see him at breakfast, or later on that day.

Brandon walks into Professor Phoenix's office, smiling when he saw her behind her desk. "Hello professor. I was wondering if I could maybe start a music group. HM Hendrik said to see you about it. I think he misunderstood me. I want any gryffindors that want to play to come but I also would like the other houses to be able to join in. I could teach guitar and a little drum and then I could ask around for students who could teach other instruments."

Alex heard what Bradon was talking about, and went in to add on the confersation. "Well, if it works, I can play lead guitar for you...I've been playing for five years, and I play almost everything."

Professor Phoenix listened with interest. "Well, at first we could maybe have a thread in Gryffindor common room, but if you want the whole of the school to participate, it might be better to have such a thread somewhere else... But for the moment, just start such a thread in the common room, okay?"

Ah, hello, Professor Phoenix, I'm new here, name's Gary by the way, and I must apologize for missing your first lesson...I shall keep up from now on, just so you know. Thought you'd like to know. Good day.

*rushes off to see if he can release any ferrets before they're killed and given to the hippogriffs...surely we can find some other food they prefer without having to kill the poor ferrets...that book by that Scamander guy says they prefer worms and grubs and such I think, so we can feed them that instead, without having to hurt the ferrets...

Having just sent Raven to detention, the teacher rushes in and, seeing that the Professor isn`t there and knowing she has other matters to deal with, she leaves a note saying --

"I caught Raven (raven4ife) boasting about having 'copied' a piece of information from your office. I have sent her to detention for breaking in here and I just wanted your advice/in-put on how long you think she should be there."

When Professor Phoenix returned to her office, a sinking feeling in her stomach as she pushed her door open, made her stop mid-way into the room. She closed the door behind herself slowly... somebody had been here. Something was wrong.

She approached her desk apprehensively, noting a few papers that had been moved about and then discovering a note from Marcella. She frowned, then scanned the contents of her desk once more, ashen in the face. Then, without further ado, she turned and left the office at once, heading to the dungeons.

Sangeetha walks in to see Professor Phoenix out. Sighing, she gives a wary eye at her table and sees that it was rather messy. Frowning, she left the room, pondering.
