*Madame Rowena bustles over to a deserted section of the library and smiles at the assembled students who are standing by the fireplace. She pulls out her wand and soon numerous puffy arm chairs are arranged in a circle. She sits down setting down her load of books next to her chair and the students do the same*
"I am happy to see that so many of you have returned to the book club. I'm sure all you know the guidelines but here they are again for a refresher:
1. New members do not need to ask whether they can join or not. Just sit down and give us a review or recommendation of your favorite book that all of us should read. Providing pictures of the covers or your own personal experiences that you have had with the book is a great addition to add to you review.
2. We will all take turns around the circle and give recommended readings for the week and we'll just compile a continuous list of all the books mentioned here by the quick-quill I have set up.
Well, those are the things I wanted to cover. Now, is there anyone who would like to go first in the circle? This is strictly on a voluntary basis and if you do not feel comfortable speaking, no worries, because there is bound to be someone who does."
*Madame Rowena scans the circle and sees a hand up into the air*
"How about you? It looks like you are eager to start out session." she states cheerfully.
*The circle draws their attention to the student who has raised their hand* |

I also LOVE Madeline L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time and the 3 books that followed it. I actually wore thru my first copy of AWIT and had to buy another one.
Also, Forrest Gump (the book is much better than the movie, and that's saying a lot cuz I love the movie!), and another one we read in high school was Where it Stops, Nobody Knows by Amy Ehrlich. I had never heard of that one when I had to read it for school and I ended up buying a copy. The Forrest Gump book is better than the movie? Then I certainly must read that one! I love that movie to death! A Seperate Peace takes place at a Boys School during World War II. Finny and Gene are best friends that's just the basic exposition. I really don't want to give any of it away. The only book I have ever worn down is Sharon Creech's Bloomability. She is one of my faveorite author's and that book always makes me cry in the end. LOL I usually can't bear to wear down a book and am always extremly careful with them. |

Well, the Forrest Gump book and movie are VERY different, the movie followed actual history. The book did too, but there were lots of...extraordinary bits that they left out of the movie because they're a little too fantastic to make the story in the movie believeable. It's so funny though! I love the movie too, but the book just has so much more. And the sequel was very good too. It's called Gump & Co. (by the way, they changed the ending of the book to make the movie!)

I wouldn't be surprised if you were going to read it sometime during highschool. The basic storyline is the growing love story between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth is a witty and very famous heroine while Mr. Darcy is a gloomy man of wealth. Of course there are many subplots as Elizabeth's sisters are married off and the close structure of society is key.

The Outsiders... I read that book in 8th grade for English class and hated it with a passion. The movie was better, in my opinion.
Let's see, what books do I like... Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. It's one of the most definitive pieces in literary history and an absolutely brilliant book. Alright, so it is 1200 pages unabridged and a college reading level, but it's worth it. The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Brilliant Arthurian legend, which I really like, even though it is aimed towards the female population. Anything by Michael Crichton If you have even the slightest interest in science, you'll love his books. My favorites are The Andromeda Strain and Timeline, but they are all worth reading.
