Default Library Book Club

*Madame Rowena bustles over to a deserted section of the library and smiles at the assembled students who are standing by the fireplace. She pulls out her wand and soon numerous puffy arm chairs are arranged in a circle. She sits down setting down her load of books next to her chair and the students do the same*

"I am happy to see that so many of you have returned to the book club. I'm sure all you know the guidelines but here they are again for a refresher:

1. New members do not need to ask whether they can join or not. Just sit down and give us a review or recommendation of your favorite book that all of us should read. Providing pictures of the covers or your own personal experiences that you have had with the book is a great addition to add to you review.

2. We will all take turns around the circle and give recommended readings for the week and we'll just compile a continuous list of all the books mentioned here by the quick-quill I have set up.

Well, those are the things I wanted to cover. Now, is there anyone who would like to go first in the circle? This is strictly on a voluntary basis and if you do not feel comfortable speaking, no worries, because there is bound to be someone who does."

*Madame Rowena scans the circle and sees a hand up into the air*

"How about you? It looks like you are eager to start out session." she states cheerfully.

*The circle draws their attention to the student who has raised their hand*

Those ones are okay. I haven't read them in AGES. My faves have to be Caroline B. Cooney's Face on the Milk Carton Series, the Georgia Nicolson books, and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy. Caroline B. Cooney is one of my ABSOLUTE fave authors tho.

Oh I love the Face on the Milk Carton books! It's been a while since I've read them, though. I'm reading a book now called 'Someone Like You' by Sara Dessen and it's really good! It goes through all kinds of problems that teenagers actually go through. It's awesome!

I read both a Seperate Peace and To Kill a Mockingbird last year and have to again this year. LOL I like A Seperate Peace a lot. I cried LOL

His Dark Materials is my reigning fave. Always will be. Cried when I read that last one too... And cried various times througout the Face on the Milk Carton series. Especially at What Janie Found

A Seperate Peace by John Knowles and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee are my 2 all time favorite books (outside HP). I read them in High School 15 years ago and to this day they can still move me!

Georgia Nicolson is positivly hilario. She just has the greatest (and most shallow) outlook on life. I need to read Away Laughing on a Fast Camel yet. lol Stephen King is good, too. ^.^

As for To Kill a Mockingbird and A Seperate Peace, I love the latter the most. It's so sad and yet so wonderful. Full of so much about all of that. -hugs self thinking about the book-

I like anything written by Nora Roberts and V.C. Andrews(I haven't read much of the V.C. Andrews though so maybe not everything.) And I just got done reading a series of books called WICKED by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie they're very good too.

Probably not I was just wandering around my town library and found them. They were written by the lady who writes the Buffy the Vampire books

Carol Matas... she has quite a few books, some about What it was like for teens in WW2, and she writes other types of stories. She is an awsome writer. I recommend anything of hers.

I love Christy by Catherine Marshall! I've read it about 4 times, and it still remains powerful and entertaining.

I love The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. My school had to read it last year and it was good. It showed truth about gangs in the past and yet they have the same traits now days. But whatever happens don't watch the movie. It's sucks really bad and is really disappointing.

I have read To Kill a Mockingbird, and A Separate Peace sounds familiar for some reason. What's that one about? I think I may have read it in middle school (when dinosaurs roamed the earth...)

I also LOVE Madeline L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time and the 3 books that followed it. I actually wore thru my first copy of AWIT and had to buy another one.

Also, Forrest Gump (the book is much better than the movie, and that's saying a lot cuz I love the movie!), and another one we read in high school was Where it Stops, Nobody Knows by Amy Ehrlich. I had never heard of that one when I had to read it for school and I ended up buying a copy.

LOL I'm that way, unable to remember my books. I really don't much read the Movie Books, though, it just isn't the same. I usually prefer books that have no feature film about them, just because I like to imagine them much more. That's one of the reasons I really don't like the Harry Potter Movies.
