You ascend into a completely circular room at the top of the highest tower. The walls are completely made of floor to ceiling windows, except a metre wide section for a fire, giving an almost 360 degree view of the surrounds. Accessible through an almost invisible break is the glass is a wide stone balcony that completely encircles the room. There is a charm around the doorway that stops the stinging wind from entering.
The room is vast, having been expanded by magic. In it stands a very large and magnificent telescope that can reach even the most distant stars, its lenses pointing out through the glass wall, which actually revolves so that it can be turned any direction. On the balcony stand many smaller telescopes on tripods, and inside are about 30 small wooden desks shaped like stars and moons with very comfortable high backed chairs. They are arranged around a large Mahogany desk shaped like a crescent moon, with a similar chair… Professor Dainsie’s desk Welcome to Astronomy everyone! Please make your self comfortable. Notices the Gryffindor girl from Transfigurations. Wonders if she´s a first-year too. As she seems to look a bit awkward, Drusilla tries to look encouraging. After all, this is astronomy, and she don´t suppose the stars are dropping down on them out of sky… On the other hand, you can´t be sure about that either, she thinks. Feels a bit awkward herself not knowing any fellow Slytherins as she has been busy writing a letter home and not spent much time in the common-room.
Takes her quill and parchment and starts making some notes as she has nothing better to do at the moment.

*Katie daintly runs into the classroom hoping she's not too late and quickly spots Cassandra sitting by her self and looking around shyly. Katie beams happy to see a familiar face*
"Cassandra, hi!"
*She calls happily and goes to take to the empty seat by Cassandra. She sets her things down and pulls out some parchment and her favorite sugar quill which had a picture of her and Oliver Wood enchanted on it. They were chasing after a quaffle and laughing. She smooths out her robes and hair.*
"Remember me? We met by the stair cases...So, tell me um, what's it like being in Gryffindor? I have a friend in there, maybe you know him..Oliver Wood? Well, erm, Hufflepuff is great actually, the kids are really nice and talkative!"
*Katie continues on in her usual bubbly and sweet manner, and giggles at her own Hufflepuff teases. And is looking forward to get to know the shy red-haired girl better, she seemed like a nice girl. Not conceided like the other Gryffindor's she had run into...minus Oliver of course, but her and Oliver had been friends forever. Rolling her eyes at her mindless babble in her head, she looked to Cassandra, smiled and waited for the quiet girl to say something.*

*Cassandra smiled and felt a bit relived when someone she actually knew showed up for class. Taking a seat next to her Katie beamed with joy and her bubbly personality took over. Though Cassandra had only met this girl this morning, Cassandra felt they were fast becoming friends. Katie was rambling on and on with out even stopping for air. Inwardly Cassandra giggled at her new friend. She was so full of life.*
“Well, I haven’t met many other Gryffindors actually” Cassandra replied. “I guess I’m kind of quiet and shy at first so it’s a bit hard to start up those first conversations.” Cassandra felt a flush coming to her checks and knew that pink rose color she was famous for was spreading across her face.
After a moment of silence Cassandra tucked a strained of scarlet colored hair behind her left ear. “I’m sorry I don’t know this Oliver yet” Cassandra explained to her new friend. “But maybe I’ll meet him soon” she said with a small smile.

Astronomy is the study of the supposed influences of the planets and stars and their movements and positions. It's also known as astrology.

No not really, your right thats astrology and more to do with Divination, which is what I taught last year...
Astronomy is more scientifically based.

Yes astronomy can be closely linked to Divination if you choose it to be. But as we teach divination here, we will be focusing more on the scientific side. As Slytherin Gurl13 said, the movement of the planets can be used in Astrology but we wont be doing that this year.
Yes, Astronomy is the study of space matter, such as stars, planets, moons, asteroids, black holes etc.
