Professor Rae moved all the desks back into a large circle before she left the classroom again. When she returned, she was carrying a small parcel wrapped in brown paper. She set it gently on her desk, and it seemed to shudder before growing still once again. Once that was completed, Professor Rae spelled the door open and waited for students to arrive, occasionally glancing at the package without concern.

Claire walked into the DADA classroom and took her usual seat, ready for class.

Nadia followed just behind, looking for an empty seat. She sat down in a kind of secluded place but enough for her to watch and listen comfortably, which would come useful seeing she felt half deaft.

"Hello, professor," she said. "I though we would have DADA tomorrow, seeing the deadline for the last homework was today. Maybe I was mistaken."

"Hello, Claire. Nadia," Professor Rae greeted the two Slytherin girls with a small smile. "Normally, you'd be correct, Nadia, but I decided to move things up a bit to try to get back on schedule and because... well, I found something for us to examine." She nodded at the parcel.

Shannon walks in, sits down in the front of the room, and begins taking things for class out of her bag. "Hello Professor!"

Nadia turns around and finds both Claire and Afton; she gives them both a weak smile and shy 'hi'.

When hearing the professor she only got to exclaim a small 'oh' staring at the parcel as well. "It must be something interesting to work with," she said. She tried to make her mind into working... not succeeding much.

Birdy entered the classroom and adressed the teacher. "Evening Professor Rae," she said brightly, taking a seat with a view of the professor, and focused on the package on the teacher's desk, wondering what it could be. It certainly wasn't dangerous, the professor was not eyeing it apprehensivly.

"Professor Rae?" Birdy raised her hand, "Is that some sort of dark object you brought in? Will we be examining it?" she asked, gestruing to the package.

"Your curiosity, in this case, will be well-rewarded." Professor Rae opened the package, revealing a miniture trunk. "I had to shrink it so I could carry it to class," she explained calmly, then quickly returned it to original size. It plopped heavily on the floor, then shuddered as if something inside were unhappy with the proceedings. "I'll bet you all already know what I have in here today."

Rosalita looked at the trunk with interest, Nadia having said her idea. She bit her lip in excitement, waiting for the professor to tell or show them what was in the trunk.

"Yes, it is a boggart, Nadia. Five points. I know that some of you studied boggarts a few terms ago, but I've never taught it, and I think its time we repeat the lesson. If you've already had this lesson and feel you will be bored, you are free to take a study session instead of this class." She waited to see if anyone left before continuing. "I'd like for us to discuss the boggart before I dare to unleash him onto my unsuspecting class. Now, first things first... what is a boggart's natural form?"

A boggart... Birdy thought about the idea, then voiced aloud,

"It could be a boggart, a trunk is a perfect example of the dark, enclosed spaces they prefer as their home. Would the shrinkinkg charm used on the trunk effect the boggart inside?"

Wizard kind doesnt know what a boggart looks like on its own because when one sees it, the boggart automatically transforms into what the person fears the most.

"The shrinking charm worked just fine on him," Professor Rae said, tapping the trunk with her wand and sitting on it. She crossed her legs and smiled at the class. "Birdy is absolutely correct. Five points for Gryffindor. We have no idea what a boggart looks like normally because no one has seen it in its... shall we say "resting state"? A boggart changes its appearance as soon as a Witch or Wizard encounters it. Now... what does a boggart shift its appearance to?"

"Fear" Nadia said. "Boggarts find your inner fear and takes the shape of the image which represents so. Well, not everybody has a material fear, like spiders, so it's not always as easy for the Boggart to take shape."

Feesha watched the parcel with excitement, she remembered having boggarts in her closet when she was little.

Professor Rae, i have one question though: Isn't it possible for someone to actually see teh resting state of a boggart if they fear nothing? And i mean nothing.

"Right again, Birdy... you're up on you boggart knowledge. The boggart will take the shape of what you fear most. Nadia brings up a good point, however... the thing you fear most isn't always something that can be shaped in such a way. Take for example... if your greatest fear is loneliness, what shape could the boggart take in order to bring that fear to light?"
