CoMC Issues HM Hendrik sits behind his desk, deep in thought. He is arranging his notes and books as he prepares for his first lesson of the new term. Off to the side are several containers. Some covered, some exposed, all with interesting creatures inside. In the far corner is a rather large tank filled with water and covered with a large tarp. From inside, one can hear something splashing around. He walks over to the tank and tosses in a few blue crabs and returns to his desk and continues to work. |
::knocks on the door:: excuse me headmaster? may i speak to you? i have this suggestion. |
*walks in as well* Proffesor, hi, thought i'd actually introduce myself before class started right yet. I am Lily, and i'm a first year gryffindor. Well, can't wait, BYE! |
:: Touches Door knob:: Suddenly finds herself just inside the professors office she looks around blankly for a second curious about the caged creatures sitting about the room. " Professor? Sorry to bother you but after reading the notice on your door.. I was wondering will there be any other textbooks needed during this term other than the three you listed?" OOC: Will you be using information actually found in J.K's Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them ? |
-walks in- "Hello Headmaster! Im Afton, second year Gryffindor. I cant wait till CoMC starts! ^_^ " |
*walks in* "hello Headmaster! I planning on taking all the subjects. I can't wait till CoMC starts!" |
HM Hendrik looks up to see all of the students wandering in and out of his office.... Quote:

Runs in holding his owl, Renegade. "Professor! My owl's wing is hurt. I think my mom did it to him when he sent my last note to her. We've been fighting and apparently she decided to take it out on Renegade." |
"Well just leave your owl with me....I will take a look at him shortly....I'm sure he will be fine! Now I must be off....I have a class to start." HM Hendrik quickly looks at the owl, gives it an owl treat and places it on an owl stand beside his desk before he dashes off to class. |
"Thank you professor." He walks out, watching Renegade as he left. |
Nadia touched the door knob and was transported to the new office. Silly her, she had forgotten all about the portkey. Anyway, she was there so... "Um, hello and sorry to appear like this professor," she said stepping in. She put her quill, which had been on her hand so far, behind her ear and sat. "Uh, good afternoon first. I hope you enjoyed my hw and, err, sorry for the mix up with the answers. Fancy having we both he same books too^^ Anyway, I better get to the point. "I think this might sound kind of strange to you but I'm making a research on quills" - Hendrik would be by now looking at her with the strangest look, she pressumed, but she wasn't about to look up any soon -"yes, quills - magical quill in special. I was meaning to buy a Quick-Notes Quill, which writes what your head dictates. As in telephathy if you think of it. Anyway, I got hold of one already but I was trying to figure out how it worked. Last term Transfiguration professor showed us a spell but it wasn't as quick and you needed a lot of concentration not to fail or write another thing... it was handy but I had some troubles with it, especially with my pulse. "Anyway, you might be wondering 'what does this has to do with you as CoMC professor?'. Well, last class you used this spell to write and re-write in the blackboard and, even though it is not your area of expertice, I wanted you to teach it to me. Or at least guide me into what book I should take from the Library, which name should I look that spell with and what does the spell means and how it works, more or less. That should be enough... I think if I can master it I can find a way to finish my investigation and the magic within QNQ. It would be really helpful. The spell was - ah, wait" *look into her notes* "Deportare domus..e...I think. I might have mispelled seeing I only heard." She took a look back to the parchement and then finally at the professor's face. "So, would you help me?" |
"Ah well, the spell I casted on the chalk in class wasn't writing what was in my mind...You see I had already written down the homework assignment, as well as all of the notes and illustrations that I displayed in class. The spell simply 're-wrote' my notes if you will. For that particular encantation to work, there has to be an exhisting set of notes or a letter or some type of writing. I believe that it can be used to re-write text from a book as well, though I've never tried for fear of copyright issues. I know Madame Rowena frowns on things like that. hmmmm...now let me think....I believe that a simple reinforsement charm might help you out with your inquiries. Though I'm not sure if a quill can be charmed to actually write what one is thinking. Other than the charm you learned before that takes a fair amount of concentration. It's my understanding that Quick Quills will only write what is spoken with, er...uhm...a little writer's prerogative added in...*ahem*. I hope this helped, though I don't think it was the answer you were looking for. Sorry I couldn't be more specific." Off in the corner of his office there came a splashing noise from one of his tanks. It was covered with a large tarp so it's contents could not been seen. "Oh, if you would excuse me, it's feeding time." He walked over to another tank and pulled two rather large horseshoe crabs from it and carefully placed them under the tarp of the large tank. There was a large commotion inside the tank and then all was silent. |
Nadia uttered a small "oh" at the answer given. She didn't have much time to add anything as the tank-inhabitant asked to be feeded and the professor complied and went over it. Nadia stood and watched from a prudent distance as the professor seemed to follow a ritual to feed the, err, beast. Slighted sickedned and worried about the noise, once seeing it all had gone silent, she ventured again. "Before I go I would ask you a last thing. I think that spell is interesting nonetheless and can help my investigation so I want to find more info in the Library. Therefore, could you tell me what does "deportare domus" means? My Latin isn't too good sadly." |
HM Hendrik smiled at Nadia and her enthusiasm. "But of course, the first part of the charm, Deportare means to bring as in to bring home. The second part, domus means home. It's a somewhat repetative charm. I mean a literal translation would be 'to bring home home' but literal translations aren't always what we are looking for. I've been toying around with a new charm and I think I will use it during our next class. I hope this helps you in your studies." |
"Thanks, professor, yes," Nadia said nodding, "it helped. Actually I might try learning it myself to see if I can re-write the notes I forgot to bring to class, or those from previous years and such. Surely Madame Rowena will have the info I am looking for. It is quite interesting also that the spell would talk about "bring home" when only writing - oh, sorry," she shook her head, "I am probably boring you with my rambling." She stepped nearer the door and turned to say, "I will see you later in next class then. Looking forwards that new spell you mentioned, and the new information on Dragons too! Bye!" And she was finally out of the door as a new student was entering. |
Carries :: Ganymede creeps in. She appears very afraid but determined. Holding a large burlap bag and her wand she casts "Immobilus!" on the Horsesoe crabs. She quickly transfigures a bunch of quills into blue crabs. She then loads the Horseshoe crabs into the bag and runs off to finish her plans. :: |
Kay happened to be crusing past the Headmaster's office when he noticed someone running with a large dripping bag away from the office. Suspiciously he looked in the office and found an empty tank. Putting two and two together, he decided to set off in pursuit of the tank-contents thief. |
:: Ganymede walks slowly back in. She quickly pulls her wand out and pulls a "Terry Weasley" on the orbs. She then uncloaks the bag of crabs and throws one in the tank for the creatures meal, "that oughta hold you over a little" I whisper to the mysterious animal. I re cloak the bag and struggle carrying it back off. :: |
Kay skidded, Ganymede having passed him once again, and grabbed her. From the office there could be heard an angry and authoritative "Nice try, now hand over that!" in a heavy Asian accent. Some noises, silence, then Kay re-entered the office dragging a bag and tipped the contents, with some difficulty, into the empty tank--horseshoe crabs. He gasped for breath, then wiped his brow, not noticing any other signs of disorder. The chinese boy then ran out of the office, possibly to catch the culprit again. |
:: Ganymede quickly shrugs Kays arm off, "Leave it!" I tell him and I run! :: |
Kay took off after Ganymede's retreating form, too out of breath to utter threats. |
Headmaster...excues me but your not going to cancell the Yule Ball are you? |
