Class #2 Muggle Occupations Ok class, I was very pleased with the submission for homework for our last lesson, hopefully we can continue with the good work. Now, muggle occupations, even though some of you may train here at Hogwarts as a witch or wizard some of you may decide to pursue alternate options available to you especially if you come from muggle parentage. Now, we are going to disuss some of those options to you. Now many muggle occupations mirror those some of you may follow as a witch or a wizard. What are some of the occupations in the wizarding world that are similar to that in the muggle world? |
*raises hand* What about Healers professor? |
Raises Hand "Professors/Teachers, Headmasters/Principals, Minister of Magic/Politicians, Aurors/Police Officers, Care of Magical Creatures/Zookeepers..." |
Serena raised her hand, "There are reporters or writers for newspapers and radio as well as photographers and d.j.'s, and there are musicians and even bands or groups like the 'Wierd Sisters', and their are cooks or chefs also and people or wizards who run stores and sell merchandise." |
Chocomeo answers"Well our ministry of magic is kind of like the goverment. " |
Shannon speaks up. "How about the members of the Magical Reversal Squad? They are like muggle FBI agents, they have to solve the problem AND cover it up so the public doesn't panic." |
Aurors and hit wizards are like their police officers |
Mrs. Weasley raises her hand. Both Wizards and muggles own and operate store, restaurants, and pubs. |
The professors are the same, save for the subject to teach. The Healers and Medi-Wizards would be like Nurses and Doctors with the aid of magic. The Ministry workers are, well, the same, only muggles wouldn't refer to them as such but with another name -- say, the Minister of Magic would be muggles President I presume (or vampires Lords... ); the Aurors would be the muggle Police; However, muggles aren't as concerned about keeping secrets - no, let me rephrase. They wouldn't be concerned about keeping secrets to us as we do to them - It would be impossible seeing they dont' KNOW we exist. Our secret is exactly that: we don't want to have them muggles to know we exist. But they have secret, yes, and I'm not talking about it in a personal level, no. I'm thinking of some gubernamental organization made to keep information from their own people.... In a way, they would be more like Unspeakables. Guess the name I'm looking for is Secret Agents. Anyway, maybe we have secrets in a different level, or maybe the same level. Both ways, it looks silly to keep those from their own people - like with Harry Potter beign censored by the media at his 15th. Back to topic. The desk-jobs seems to be the same, as in Secretary. The Commentarist of a Quidditch Game would be the same as a muggle game one. The same goes for Quidditch players, even though we have VERY different sports from what muggles play. The conductor of the Hogwarts Express or the Knight Bus, the writer of books about one thing of another, the pop-singers and bands, the newspapers journalists (even the weird ones), the authorities in a trail, even the people who brib said authorities! *chuckles* Many of us would like to consider us different but, sadly, we have much if not every cultural similarities available. Only magic set us apart, but guess even muggles would act the same if they discovered the magic world all of the sudden. *ponders* Guess that covers it. |
*Sarah raised her hand* Well the muggle and the wizarding world have authors, artists and poets. And of course regular things like shop keepers and teachers. |
Very good class. We are going to look at 5 cross careers from the wizarding world into the muggle world. Healers - Doctors, Aurors - Police, Ministy of Magic - Government, Quidditch Players - Porfessional Athletes, Gamekeeper - Veterinarian. Ok, healers as we all know treat wizards who become sick or injured. They often use magical abilities to heal people, either with spells or potions brewed specially for the ailment. Healers require a great deal of training in potions, charms, and herbology. Doctors are very similar. They require a great deal of training, it takes many years of muggle schooling to become a doctor, it is probably the profession that requires the most training. Who here has been to see a muggle doctor before? |
Kay raises her hand. "I have been to a Muggle doctor before. It happened when I was attending a private Muggle school before coming to Hogwarts. I had become sick and the Headmistress took me to see a doctor. The doctor gave me something called antibiotics that I had to take three times a day for seven days strait!" |
Since Lyra didn't have much interaction with muggles, she sat listening to the other students and vigilently took notes. |
"I've gone for many things. Such as, I broke my nose 3 times. You know, muggle doctors don't work as fast as healers. It took a very long time to heal and it's still a bit crooked! Also, I have a question. You said that gamekeeper is like a Veterinarian, well isn't it also like a gardener? I thought gamekeeper was the same as groundskeeper, who take care of the grounds, like a gardener." |
Shannon raises her hand. "I've been to see the doctor loads of times. When I was a baby I got ear infections all the time, and eventually they had to put these weird little tubes in my ears to stop them. And I had my tonsils taken out last year after getting strep throat every month all winter. And I had pneumonia when I was six..." |
"I had pneumonia also. I remeber I missed a week of muggle school. I was so bored that I went and begged my mom to let me go back. Which reminds me, professor, did you know that muggle doctors tend to screw up on medication? When I had pneumonia they gave me stuff I was allergic to. Also when I had my wisdom teeth out. It's weird that they do that. It's almost like they were trying to mess up, but that can't be true, right?" |
Don't healers sometimes use the wrong cure because some symptoms are the same for many ailments? |
*raises her hand* "I have a question, since we're on the topic of healers/doctors...do wizards also get diseases/sickness like the muggle people do? For example, are there heart diseases or cancer in the wizarding world?" |
"I went to the doctor's before. I had to go there so she could check up my asthma. My mom trusts the doctor more than the healers because she isn't sure what my reaction will be if healers perform magic." Tina said. |
Of course us witches and wizards get sick. That is why we have healers, sometimes its as a result of a spell that went wrong but sometimes the body just does something different. You must remember that even though we are magical people we are still human. As to medical mistakes, doctor do make mistakes, they are human as well. Sometimes muggles can be given a medication that their body reacts negatively to, this is called an allergy. Sometimes this cannot be helped because an allergy, is often not known about until after a reaction happens. But like it was said healers can make mistakes too, like when Mr. Weasley was in St. Mungo's they weren't able to find a cure to help stop his bleeding. They even tried a muggle form of treatment called stitches, which is basically sewing the skin back together. This didn't work because there was a venom that was preventing the wound from closing. You can see that there is a direct correlation between doctors and healers. If you would like to further you education and become either a doctor or healer you must be committed to studying for many years and have lots of discipline. |
Pookah curled up in her seat. "I hate doctors", she mummbled. |
Eric nodded in agreement with Pookah as he turned a bit pale. "So do I," |
I hate the place where they treat you I had to wait an hour after getting registered |
"I'm not too fond of doctors myself" piped up a first-year Slytherin named Gary in the back of the class who was allowed to take this class (even though he is a first-year and is also from a Muggle family). "The healers ahve a much better bed-side disposition. Fortunately, I've never had to have muggle surgery, I'm sure that would have been a lot worse than a few potions and other such things...is St.Mungo's anything like Muggle hospitals? Do they use various computer equipment or is it all done by some magic regulation of some kind? Do they just use old-fashioned observation?" |
I've nvr been to St. Mungo's before.. But im sure in St. Mungo's. they use wands? in Muggle hospitals, they use the stethoscope? its to hear your heartbeat [ im nort sure of the spelling ].. But im sure in St Mungo's.. they dun use it.. |
*listens attentively to the Professor's lecture, then raises her hand again* So we have Healers for Doctors. What about counselors, psychiatrists, or psychologists? In the muggle world when people are depressed they go to these people. What do wizards do if they something's bothering them um, mentally or emotionally? |
Suddenly Pookah looked somewhat excited, and her hand shot up in the air. "Do Wizard Healers have the cure for diseases that muggle doctors don't have!?" Her expresion was rather desperate. |
*raises hand* "do healers still have to treat things like diseases and not just things to do with magic going wrong?" "Do they have allternatives to injections because i hate them!?" |
We do not have injections with a needle in the wizarding world, but in turn we have potions that we sometimes must drink that taste absolutely horrendous such as skelegrow. Now our next topic, Aurors and Police. These careers are very similar, in all these two careers are about keeping peace. Aurors track dangerous wizards while police trak down dangerous muggles. Both of our worlds are not perfect, can anyone name some dangerous wizards other than he-who-must-not-be-named? |
Grindewald. He was a dark wizard, Dumbledore defeated him. Herpo the Fool, also dark, but I don't know much about him. Salazar Slytherin is some times considered dark, but it depends of the interpretation of history. And all of the Dead Eaters followers of Voldemort falls into the cathegory of dark wizard, I believe: Nott, Malfoy, Lestrange, Jugson, Dolohov, Rookwood, Crabbe, MacNair, Avery, Mulciber... and so on. And Voldemortist... our today's Voldemort probably, and his follower. |
Igor Karkaroff was captured by Mad-Eye Moody after six months' of persuit. Wilks and Rosier were killed by Aurors. |
No list would be complete without Voldemortist. If memory serves me, he is still at large and a frequent uninvited guest to Hogwarts. |
Peter Pettigrew |
Ok, Ministry of Magic and Muggle Government. Can anyone tell me some divisions of either? |
We have the Minister of Magic, while muggles have either kings, presidents or prime ministers, or something along those lines. We have the Wizengammot, while muggles have parliament or congress or something like that. |
::raises hand:: well for the ministry of magic the departments are: Departments Improper Use Of Magic Enforcement Of Magic Hogwarts Liaison Auror's Experimental Charms Misuse Of Muggle Artifacts Floo Regulation Disposal of Dangerous Creatures Magical Games and Sports International Magic Co-Orperation Goblin Liaison Department Of Mysteries Department Of Creature Finance Control Of Magical Creatures Transportation |
::raises hand:: also the american government is broken up into three branches. the executive, legislative and judicial |
*lays her head on one hand* Well, I think Genie covered it all... *frowns* I think I heard there are 7 departments, however, and it's missing the Department of Magical Security (though it might be Aurors) and the Desinformation Office. I agree with all the rest. I've just heard of The Department of Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures, about beasts. *raise hand* Professor, just ocurred to me... I am not sure I understand our own Power Divisions, the Ministry of Magic I mean. Would you say the Minister is like a muggle president or a muggle king? As we don't have power divitions... it looks like a monarchy, maybe? Shennigan does have a point though... *pondering* Mmh, I'm guessing the Wizengammot is like a muggle court? Like, the judicial power then? Mmh.... The confederation of Warlocks is the Legislative then, and the Minister the Executive.... the International Confederation of Wizards would be like the UN  ? Ah, I'm disgressing, I really don't know. |
Sangeetha raises her hand. 'Well, most of the occupations in the wizard world are similiar to the muggle world, only in the wizarding world it magical. Congress and Parliaments are the same as the Wizengamots. There are also Municipalities and this category also falls all into the Ministry but into different divisions. We dont actually have buses coming down the street and picking up our garbage.' She chuckles softly 'But normal, low class professions such as the conductors and drivers in the Knight Bus is same in the Muggle buses, we can say that the Wizarding World is very much like the Muggle World.' |
::genie smiles sheepishly:: err sorry nadia...i guess i got a little to carried away there. |
Raises her hand again: 'Muggle govermental departments have seperate divisions too, like Genie said. Each is different from the other. Like the Wizengamots court, in the muggle world there is one court that I have heard of and that is the Supreme Court. There is another court but I cant recall. But all I know these two courts take different actions on different cases accordint to how important and serious the case is.' |
Turns to Genie, "Uh? Oh, no, I wasn't complaining or anything I just felt there was not much too add. Besides I'm not even too sure how many Departments we have in the Ministry of Magic, or how similar is to the muggle goverments." "...That's exactly why I am asking now: muggles have different guvernamental orders, to which of them, then, does the MoM resemble the most? To which it is more alike, and so on. I'm curious." |
The departments for the Ministry of Magic are as follows: Department of International Cooperation Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office Goblin Liason Office Department of Regulation and Control of Magic Department of Magical Games and Sports Improper Use of Magic Office Commitee on Experimental Charms Accidental Magic Reversal Squad Department of Magical Transportation Department of Mysteries. In addition there are the International Conferation of Wizards and the International Confederation of Warlocks. If I remeber correctly most muggle governments are divided into a national government, a regional government- which covers a state or provence- and a local government- that usually includes a city and county government depending on what country you are talking about. |
Turns and looks at Nadia: 'Hmmm, Nadia, a good question but I think, yes, the MoM does represent a lot in the Muggle "type" governmental activities. Shall we have a look on the case that on 1993 when a Hippogriff named Buckbeak had to be exectued, the Minister of Magic had come to witness the execution, and such cases falls in the Committe for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures. And then again on 1995, when Harry Potter was expelled from school for using magic outside Hogwarts and in front of a Muggle, it was the Minister who had taken charge to judge the case. Convenient, eh?' She carresses her chin pensivly 'But there might be exceptions, of course.' |
Leen listens closely to the Professor. |
:: Ganymede tries to follow but become very bored with it all. She heaves a great sigh and sings a song in her head. When that becomes old she begins to count the stone tiles on the floor.... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... etc. :: |
Stephanie writes down notes and thinks about what she will do after Hogwarts. |
"Exactly!" she told Sangeetha. "That sounds like Monarchy to me. I have never seen another Muggle type of governation which would have the divitions of power so... blurry. The Ministry shouldn't be having such power over the different sections of the goverment to me." *frowns* "Uh, also, I think we forgot about the Warlock's Council. I don't know how it would work if compared to Muggle goverments. I know there's Chief that, I believe, works as Legislative-power major-warlock to my view... A mix between the executive and judicial power maybe? "I change my mind. The Executive power must be the Department of Magical Law Enforcement which should include the Auror's (though this last could be part of the Judicial power). "We need your orientation, professor." |
:: Ganymede tries to avert her attention back to class, "Professor, Do we elect the Minister of Magic?" She asks hoping it wasn't already answered earlier. :: |
Nods at Nadia, understandingly. 'Well, one thing I do not get is that why the Minister is always having power in different departments. Surely then there is no use in having executives and representatives in each department if the Minister always put his foot into the situation.' Ponders about what the Warlocks' Council and what Nadia said. 'Enlighten me. Your guess is as good as mine. I dont know if the Auror's is part of the Judicial Power from the muggle view. But like you do, I as well need the Professor's consultation.' |
So we have been discussing policing and lots of questions are around. I think that the policing and judical systems of the magical and muggle world are very similar. Let's take Harry Potter for example when he was charged by the ministry for underage magic. Well in the muggle world there is such a thing called young offenders and those are muggle individuals under the age of 16 who get into trouble with the law. Just the same as Harry, these muggles are caught in the act and set a time and date for a hearing, very similar to what Harry attended. Only initially Mr. Weasley was under the impression that it was not going to be a full "trial". A trial is what it is called in the muggle world. A person goes and their case is presented before a judge and sometimes a jury, which is a group of people who work together to decide if the person is guilty or innocent. Harry went before a group of wizards which acted in a way like a jury. They discussed his infraction and decided that Harry was innocent in a very similar fashion as would happen in a muggle court. So, essentially, aurors are like police officers in the muggle world, they apprehend the criminals to take them to be sentenced for their crimes. |
Thinks about what Ganymede said and tells, "I believe we do the same as muggle in that area" (ooc: lol, difficult to tell if it is direct voting or not :P) Nadia hears Sangeetha and frowns, "Good question indeed." She smiles, nodding at the observation made by her friend. Then, hearing her second question she adds, "Oh, no, sorry, forget what I said. The Warlock Council was the predecessor of the Minitry of Magic which means it has no power whatsoever nowadays (=P). Lapsus, I was meaning Wizengamont." When the professor responds to the question, Nadia ponders a little before raising her hand. "But would you say, professor, we wizards have a democracy-kind of goverment or a monarchy-like one? Comparing to Muggles types of goverment, that is. That's what puzzles me more." |
Sangeetha listens to Nadia's question. Frowning thoughtfully, she answered 'I think we, wizards, have a monarchy type government. Looking at our observations, earlier, we see that the Minister is a like a side judge. Or shall we say, the main judge. The executives and the representatives of the particualr department are just there to help the case. In Harry's hearing, we know that Madam Bones was there to judge the case as well. But dont you think that the judging responsibility had to be rested on her instead of the Minister?' Raises her hand. 'This question, I need your theory, Professor.' |
Well thats an interesting thought. To be a democrecy the public at large needs to be eligible to vote to elect their leader and in the wizarding world it doesn't look like that we do that. In a monarchy, the leader is elected by blood relation as it is right here in Great Britain. Of course everyone, even wizarding children know of the royal family. Of course right now Queen Elizabeth is in charge and soon Prince Willian will supercede her, Prince Charles, Prince William's father cannot take the throne due to his divorce to the late Princess Diana. So in being neither does that make us a dictatorship? Wel in way we do fall into that category however its almost like we have a board of members that elect our next leader, what kind of a government does that make us do you think? |
'The monarcy has very little political power in the country, if the people wanted to get rid of the monarchy, they could. They are there because the democratic people allows it to. ' said ally shyly, not quite knowing. |
Ally looks around the room. 'I think the wizarding world is more dictatorship, but with a with a clear leader...' |
*titles head* "Indirect Democracy? You know, like the one in USA?" she tries to respond the question. *sighs* "I would like to say the Greek Polis Democracy but, no, there every cityzen who was considered as such had the power to act in the main cousil. Mind, it was only Free men, and slave and women couldn't, but that's because of the idiologies of the times. It was still considered like *anyone* could enter. Those are the basis of Democracy." *ponders* "I don't know, it looks like a cult-like goberment... Oh! I know, it is an Oligarchy!" |
Sangeetha cocks her head at Nadia. 'Ogliarchy? Is this really something or a joke?' |
"Oligarchy is an type of goberment where only a small group of people who auto-choose themselves as the gobernors would be in charge of everything going on in the goberment. By the look of it, Fudge's intervention in the different aspect of politics and the fact that only a small number take care of everything, makes me think Wizards have an Indirect-Democracy kind of Goberment, or an Oligarchy." *ponders* "It all comes down to one thing. If this *board* that elect our governor is elected by the people, then it is an Indirect-Voting System. If those people are there *just becuase*, it is an Oligarchy.... I thought we wizards did have voting, how funny..." |
Ok, so we have had a very interesting discussion in politics and how our government works. Now we move on to what I am sure is an interesting subject both for muggle and wizard children. Professional Sports, in the wizard world our main sport of attraction is of course, Quidditch. I am usre many of you attended the world cup of quidditch just a few years ago right here in our own country. In the muggle world there is many sports that interest muggle children. Can anyone give me some muggle sports in which someone may go professional? |
Kay raised her hand and restrained herself from naming all of the sports that she knew about, so she named only one of them. "Muggles can go professional in a sport called Baseball." |
They can go professional in something called Football(US). There are several teams and they use a funny looking ball. There is a championship game at the end of the season. I think it is called the Souper Bowl. |
Sangeetha's hand shot up in the air. Waving it eagerly she said. 'There are many games and sports. I shall name a few:Football, Baseball, Cricket, Tennis, Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball, Golf, Softball.' Sangeetha hit her head a little with her knuckles but couldnt recall anymore. She then just looked at the Professor, shrugging. 'That's all I can remember.' |
There is one where they put a ball into a tiny hoop, I think it is called Basketball. |
Sangeetha looks at lways, her mouth a bit open. She wondered vaguely how she could have been so stupid to forget Basketball. Her favourite game. |
"There is one!" Starrilicious said as she raises up her hand.. She soo definately know this one.. Back at home in e Muggleworld, she does this almost every week! She waits for the Professor to call upon her name and when the Professor does, she speaks, "Its swimmimg.. some sort of sport where people swim in a pool and those professionals compete in the S.E.A games or Olympic games try to break e world records or learn different styles.. Do witches and wizards swim in the wizarding world?" |
"Oh! And there is also Netball, Floorball, Badminton, Ping-pong.. My previous Muggle school holds sports like this.. And we have those Inter-school or Inter-class competitions.." she adds on.. |
Serena raised her hand, "My favorite is tennis, where they hit a ball over a net with rackets that have strings made from cat guts, eww. The ball can only bounce once on the ground and it has to stay inside lines that shape the court in a rectangle." "Other cool sports are ice skating, which can be 'figure' skating, ice dancing, or speed skating. There are also running sports, that are for speed in short and long distances, even jumping over bars called hurdles. These can be team sports or for individuals." |
'Theres also sports like canoeing, archery, polo, boxing, sailing, athletics (shot, running, javelin, discus, high jump, long jump, low jump, hepathalon etc) squash, skiing, snowboarding, swimming, fencing, rugby, lacross.' said Ally quickly. |
Of course there has been wizards and witches who have competed along side muggles in sports competions. If you think about some of the "greats" you may have some clues. You see wizards and witches who were born muggles love to still participate in the muggle sports, however there is strict restrictions on them by the International Confederation of Wizards. Although, there pure ability does stand out to muggles, but they never have seemed to figure it out. Can anyone think of some professional athlete wizards in the muggle world? |
'Umm... David Beckham?' lol |
*Sarah put up her hand and answered* Paula Radcliffe and Kelly Holmes are both brilliant runners, Paula Radcliffe won a marathon yesterday and Kelly Holmes won two gold medals in the recent Olympics. I don't know it they're magic though but some british people would say they are, not in the same sense of the word though. |
"Gabriela Sabatini, from Argentina, is a tennist^^ Nadia Comanechi is an athlete my mother admired, and she named me after her  Then there's, in Basketball, Michael Jordan.... and all of the Argentinian Soccer and Basketball team are now very famous" *transfigures a flag and waves it* |
Very good. The ironic thing is how muggles worship these athletes and they really have no idea. Just to mention a few: Golf - Tiger Woods, Basketball - Michael Jordan, Baseball - Babe Ruth, Gymnastics - Nadia Comenici and Mary Lou Retton, Tennis - The Williams Sisters, Football (or soccer in the USA) - David Beckham and of course the list goes on and on. The last topic of this lesson is the Gamekeeper and Veterinarian. Now here at Hogwarts our Gamekeeper is Mr. Shrine. Of course for those of you who have been here remember Hagrid. Now before some of you were a little confused as to a gamekeepers role. Who can tell me what a gamekeeper does? |
Shannon raises her hand. "A gamekeeper is a person who takes care of animals." |
Lyra also raises her hand "Aren't they also the Keeper of Keys?" |
Nods her head, agreeing with Shannon as she had sid the answer already. |
Singspell*!* takes notes and is fabergatsted by the intelligence of her fellow classmates....WOW.... "I do beleive that the gamekeeper is a person that takes care of animals. It could also be called the person that would be a referee for the muggle world? That is depending what way you were meaning the question." *I hope I just did not put my foot in my mouth and made myself look dumb...* |
*snaps out of her stupor, and her ears perk up when she heard the word 'sports'* The way I see it in our world, I think a gamekeeper has multiple roles. Not only does he take care of animals as singspell siad, I think he also acts as a kind of 'overseer' or maybe a foreman in place like Hogwarts. |
Serena raised her hand, "A gamekeeper one who is employed to protect and maintain game birds and animals, especially on an estate or a game preserve. I guess Hogwarts is an estate of sorts." |
Very good Shannon. A gamekeeper is someone who looks after and cares for the animals here at Hogwarts. Now some of you are a little confused thinking about our old gamekeeper Hagrid who had many roles when he was here at Hogwarts. Yes Hagrid was responsible for taking care of the grounds as well as being Keeper of the Keys, however, these are just seperate titles that Hagrid held. By no way if you are a gamekeeper do you need to hold other positions. Now the similiarities between a gamekeeper and a veterinarian are great. In the muggle world a veterinarian is responsible for the well-being of many animals. What are some animals muggles keep as pets that a veterinarian may take care of? |
Serena raised her hand, "The most popular muggle pets are dogs, cats and birds! Some even keep ferrets, rabbits, gerbils, mice and rats. I actually have a pet squirrel, but those aren't common." |
Nadia hears, "Interesting, I never knew people could have so many pets. I recall once hearing about people having fishes, golden fishes r alike, and thenthere ws this other species, the reptiles, and some people have from snakes to lizards. And spiders! Also birds, such as canaries and parrots. We wizards have owls, cats, mice and frogs are main pets... We have magicl ceratures as pets, but appart from that we do have it is common with muggles on our coice of pets. Guess they don't have runespoors or phoenix. Still the one both wizards and muggles can have and I like the most, is" - makes dramatic pause -"the monkey! I swear, I have always wanted to have one. The sad this is that they use chimances and other monkeys for experimentations so much, muggles do... They use rats, dogs, everything. I don't think they care too much for animals." *she tsked with a sad tone at the end* |
Kay raises her hand. "Some Muggles keep horses, hamsters, and pot-bellied pigs as pets." |
Sangeetha raised her hand and siad 'Professsor, Muggles keep rats, mice, dogs, cats, donkeys, ferrets, rabbits, birds and something I heard tghat Farmers keep. They are cows, goats, bulls, oxes, sheep. The cow gives them milk, sheep gives them wool and bulls and oxes help the farmers in ploughing their fields. I done knw about gotas though.' |
goats also give milk. I believe they use it to make different cheeses. The fleece of the goat is used to make mohair, a material sometimes used to make many items such as sweaters. |
like everyone else said, the most common are fluffy, easy to care animals like cats, dogs, rabbits, rodents, etc. I even heard of someone who had 7 tigers at home, no kidding! As for marine animals as pets there are also many--fish, turtles, and even the pirhana, a fish that has extremely sharp teeth. I guess a veterinarian could take care of these too. |
'Twelve tigers! That's mad! No one in their right minds would want to have a tiger for a pet!' Sangeetha exclaimed, laughing as well. |
^yeah, I know! But the guy's rich and he owns a bunch of other exotic animals as well. I had a cat, but they all either got run over by a car, ran away, or simply disappeared. :( |
Everyone is right basically any animal can be a pet to a muggle however, some muggles feel that the larger animals such as tigers are dangerous and most don't keep them as pets. Now The similarities between a gamekeeper and a veterinarian are very great. A vet, for short, looks after animals and cares for them should they become ill or injured. Vets also provided "preventative" care to protect animals against future illness. Many muggle children dream of becoming vets when they become adults simply because muggle children love animals. Now for your homework assignment for class 2. Now as usual, all submissions must be sent to professor_evans_office@hotmail.com and must be submitted no later than Wednesday, November 17 @ 11:59pm EST. You assignment is as follows: Please provided two paragraphs one of which would be your choice of career in the wizard world and the other your choice of career in the muggle world. In each paragraph please provide a short description of the career, what type of training or schooling it requires and why it is your choice. Each paragraph should be a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 300 words. Do not forget to submit your SS nick, member number and house, I will not ask for this again if your work is submitted without it you will not receive any marks for it. |
"Thanks Professor! I know I love animals! You've given us a lot to think about!" said Serena as she finished writing down the assignment and waved goodbye. |
*Jen writes* "Write...two...paragraphs...about...your...choice. ..wizarding...and...muggle...careers.." "Okay, will do that...thanks professor!" :) |
Sangeetha nodded as hse wrote down her homework. She then stands up waves at the Professor. 'Thank You Professor! That was an excellent lesson!' |
*Professor, I've sent my homework already...hope you got it." :) |
