Kali looks at her wand then reads the Phoenix-feather excerpt.

"Hmm..." she says thinking.

"Professor, I was wondering, my wand has a phoenix feather core, but my personality is more like a dragon heartstring person. What does that mean?"

Alex looks down at her book and thinks about what her core is in her wand. Phoneix. "Hmm, that means that I like to lead, not follow, sounds right, and I also am good at Transfiguration. That is my best class as well. Maybe this way of thinking really does work."

Raising her hand she asks, "Professor, is the wand core always follow the same characteristics or can they be different?"

*After a moments thought about wand cores Cass has a question form in her head. Looking up she raises her hand and asks the teacher.*

"Professor, I know that the core has a great deal of meaning, but does the wood used have the same meaning?"

Smiles fondly at her 11 and 1/2 maplewood wand with unicorn hair.

She repeated in her head, confused, she waited for answer about the wood that's used.

Riiya: "Veela hair... hmm. It is not described in this text book. But one might assume that a wizard with a wand of veela hair core is often temperamental, cunning, determined, fervent and passionate. Perhaps a touch narcisstic and melodramatic as well."

quidditch_chick: "All phoenixes are different. The type described in the book is merely the stereotypical phoenix. Phoenixes vary, as do people. Perhaps your phoenix is a more... well, dragonish phoenix. Also, as you are just undergoing puberty, our views of ourselves and the world change constantly. It is not until adulthood that you can truly see that the wand you hold is yours."

Hermione3000: "As I said, all living things are different, and so are the core qualities. One can be a lazy phoenix or a super-compassionate unicorn. One strong characteristic may override all others, though: for example, a dragon that is a very powerful leader may be high in self-esteem (which is going against the book) and modest, yet be a dragon because of the one characteristic that excells the others."

CassandraRose: "That is just what we are going into next. The wood is the part of the wand that makes it the most unique from others, as there are many types of different woods or wood compounds. The core divides the user into one of three broad categories; the wood specifies it. Your wand is mahogany and holly. These are both protective woods - infact, holly is the strongest protective wood there is. You'd make a good king," Madame Noire laughs. "A born leader with a passion to protect her people. Reign pulls out her 16" Ebony wand with a feather from a flying horse as its core. She smiles she is very proud of her wand.

Hermy examines her wand (Willow, unicorn hair, 10 1/2 inches)that is laying on the desk...pondering what the core says about her personality.

sparkle14 pulls out her ne wand and lays it on her desk loooking at other people do wonderfull things! " i wish i could do that!"

Megan pulls out her Oak 11 1/2 inch unicorn hair. "hey mines similar to yours Patricia, and it says in the text book that because yours is made of maplewood your good at charms but exellent at DADA".

Alex quickly takes down notes on what the professor said. "I understand it now."

Catherine walks in and says "sorry I'm late!" and sits down in an empty seat. Catherine then pulls out her wand (Ash, Dragon Heartstring, 7")

Unicorn hair: Mutable, yes, if you consider my changes of mood and my capasity to became a completely different person. I've changes so abrupt it makes me believe that, if those persons are still inside me, I must be ezquisophrenic. Mutation sounds exactly like me.

Summer is my favorite season. I don't think I discriminate, because I can find it in myself to forgive only too much (and lgive the "benefit of the doubt") but I'm certainly critical and often hurtful by that. I would like to think I have analytical ability, because I do that a lot, and I can get pretty objective... not sure that counts as lack of compassion. By the way it contradicts this other trait, being "innately sensitive to matter concerning illness and health". I do take thing too heartly, huring me deeply and dissapointing me, and I've been often described as a too sensitive girl (must be true because I had an ulcera when I was 15 years old!). "They dislike excess", I dislike limits more like, "and self indulgence", ah, I'm not too sure about that. I do not respond to my desires but only because that's my nature, not because I dislike it. "Have little sympathy for the troubles of others when they are caused by foolish behavior." --> actually this sounds like Zekke (^^hi there, mate!)
Charmwork, yes, that I see coming. Art too, because I like drawing, playing the piano, writing song, stories, poems, novels, comics, etc. as well as receiving the arts from others. However those qualities as purity, well, not too sure. Kind of self-boosting to say something like that...

Willow: By far the most traditional element in magic and therfore quite powerful. It's suggested that witch, wicker and wicked are all derived from willow. Willow rods are certainly used for binding magical and sacred objects and the popular witches' broom is traditionally made with an ash handle and birch twigs bound with willow. In Celtic mythology it is associated with the creation myth of two scarlet sea serpent eggs which contained the Sun and the Earth. These eggs were hidden in the boughs of the Willow tree until they hatched, thus bringing forth earthly life. The Willow is also associated with death, as it is the obvious conclusion to birth and life. The Celts also associated it with poets, and young suitors would commonly wear a sprig of willow to acknowledge the power and status of the old "wise one," the Crone. Willow groves were considered so magical that Priests, Priestesses and all types of artisans sat among them to gain eloquence, inspiration, skills and prophecies. The Willow tree has always been known as a tree of enchantment. At the Temple of Delphi in Greece, Orpheus was depicted as receiving the mystic gift of eloquence by touching a willow in the sacred grove of Persephone. The Willow was also host to the sacred mistletoe, which is more commonly found growing on the Willow and the Poplar Tree than on the Oak.

"Professor, is it true that the core reflects upon what we are on the inside, our inner self, while the material of the wand, the wood, would describe our exterior nature, seeing it covers the core? Alike social and heart number in Arthmancy if you ask me. Also, the number of inches reflects on something about yourself too... I don't know how, however."

Rosie looks at her wand, which has a unicorn hair in it. Hmmm...critical, analytical...sounds pretty close to me...except for the lack of compassion...I always thought I was compassionate...odd.... But good at charmwork, that could come in handy here. she thought to herself while reading over her book.

Laughs,
"Cool, but good at charms?" laughs again, and looks at the wands.

"Gosh they are kinda the same huh?" she smiles

Francis, who had been sitting in the front since the beginning of class, wrote down all the explanations. She looked at her wand: unicorn hair, willow, 18 inches.
On the side of her quill, she wrote the description of her wand.

Then, looking at the Professor, she asked: "Professor, what does the inches mean for each wand?"

Lee looked amzed yet confused at his textbook, his wand contasined the essence of Dragon-Heartstring "Wow professor this stuff is really accurate, but how can a wand choose their carrier exactly?" asks lee looking at his teacher.

Shell read a little of the textbook, then looked at her 10 3/4 inch redwood wand, which had a unicorn hair core. I don't seem like a unicorn... Shell thinks to herself I wonder what the wood means, and if the length of the wand means anything... She then continues reading

Didymus raised an eyebrow at her wand as she remembered what the shopkeeper had said when she first received it. "Yew, 10 1/4", a single Raven feather," she murmured to herself.
The Ravenclaw girl raised her hand.
"Professor, my mum bought me this wand when we went to France, just before I first started Hogwarts. Do you think I may have trouble with my wand in the future? So far I haven't had any but I was curious about what you said earlier."

-Shauna thinks to herself " I have a 12 1/2 in. dragon heartstring" As she read over the paragraph on the dragon's heartstring, she was amazed to find that she related to alot of the qualities described-

Catherine reads the textbook. " Philosophic and often exaggerate, maybe but lack in self dicipline" Catherine says to herself. Then raises her hand,"Professor,can it(the wand) be wrong?"

Brandon stares at his wand and begins to think how his Phoenix core best matches him.

megan looks in the text book "unicorn hair means i'm good at charms, oak means i'm really good at herbology, 11 1/2 inches means i'm keen to learn but likes to joke around abit(well that bits like me lol)and it being flexible means i'm flexible to (well i used to do gymnastics?)" Wrighting this down she turns and says hi to Catherine.

Greek_snitch takes a look at her wand. "Hmmm. 14 inches, a flying horse feather core and it is made of olive wood. I bought it abroad"
