| | |  Hufflepuff Table
 For those who belong in Hufflepuff House, in the middle of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Gold banners containing an embroidered black badger float above the polished table in honour of the loyal Helga Hufflepuff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growling as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Winterbottom to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Maria entered the great hall swiftly keeping her head down to not attract attention after the train and carriage ride. Maybe she had gone a bit too far with turning her skin badger gold yellow, and her hair rapunzel looooooooooong, and electric blue for the feast? It was her last opening feast after all so Maria had wanted to go all out. Hopefully Vera had turned her hair and skin another colour too, so she wasn't alone. Maria wondered nervously what her housemates were going to say when they saw her appearance. Well that remained to be seen. Taking her usual seat at the badger table the seventh year badgerette busied herself with looking up at the staff dais to see who was up there, and not, while she awaited the arrival of some housemates.

And still no sign of growth, but she had convinced her parents that she needed a training bra regardless she didn't to which she had padded lightly and oh-so-discreetly after slipping off to the bathroom before entering the great hall. No luck convincing her parents to give her permission for a piercing though.
What Emma hadn't expected though was to one, see a trail of glitter on the ground upon entering the hall ... and two, long electric blue hair seated at the Hufflepuff table and Maria's skin glowing gold. It made her almost unrecognizable.
"Maria? You're ... looking very ... bright?" She wondered how long that took to get her skin and hair like that. Maybe should take a bite from Sloane's book and get Maria to be a guardian for her. Or she could just wait two years, but that seemed so far away. Unlike Maria, she did look at the staff dais and happened to notice DeVries absence and Professor F was wearing a hat with a dancing badger, which could only mean one thing ... "Looks we got a new house head? No Professor DeVries anymore" Sad. She liked him, but also maybe explained his gifts he'd left them at June's closing feast.

To not dwell on sad things she asked "So how was your summer break Emma? Did you do anything fun?"

Like the amount of bravery it took that girl .... woman ... to draw such attention to herself. Yes, sneaking a glance at the professors, she had noticed them looking this way. "You'll definitely be remembered, but that also means you'll have lots to live up to for your final feast in June." And suddenly she felt bad about bringing that up, remembering how gloomy Desiree and Yukie had seemed (or maybe it was just her own sadness that they weren't going to be at Hogwarts anymore). She looked over again at Vera and her glitter. "the glitter is amazing, but ugh ... pooor house elves having to clean that up." She could almost hear her mother anytime she brought up wanting to do artwork with glitter.
"Brilliant. Professor DeVries was great, but I've no doubts that Professor Fergersnout will be just as wonderful in all her silliness. Though I'll miss the plant gifts." She glanced toward DeVries old spot to see if she could read anything about the new Herbology professor. A woman. But she definitely couldn't read anything about her from just her appearance. Guess only time will tell. "Just ... hung around Diagon Alley. Oh ... I got some new music albums. I can play it for you when get back to the common room, if you'd like? What about you?"

Alfie was feeling a little bit tapped out after the train ride over to Hogsmeade. He had a wonderful time catching up with Brooks (always), but there was something about doing a thing for the first time that made him the sleepiest boy on the planet. He was relieved about not having to take the boats up to the castle this year, but the carriages were intimidating and it was only a matter of luck that he managed to find one with enough open space for both himself and Brooks.
Despite this, he still offered a warm, shy sort of smile to the girls at his table. He wasn't in much of a chatty mood, but he did wave to be friendly.
But just as soon as he did, his focus went elsewhere. Over to Cyprien Grimaldi, actually.
