 For those who belong in Slytherin House, on the right side of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Green banners containing an embroidered silver snake float above the polished table in honour of the cunning Salazar Slytherin. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growling as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Winterbottom to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Ary was super, super pleased with his House as he came down to the Feast. The had secured the House Cup yet again and he sort of felt smug about it. He loved that the House's hard work paid off; and now they got to enjoy the results.
"The Hall always looks goods in green and silver,'' he mused to Bry, whom he had come down to the Feast with. He lead the way to their table and took a seat. Knowing Bryony, she'd more than excitedly take a spot beside him. "We needs to win again next term." Was Ary's competitive side showing? Very much so. | |

Another full school year was nearly behind them. All they had to do was enjoy a fabulous feast and get on the train headed for home in the morning. How was that possible? Most days it felt like only the start of term. They had learned so much this year and they had tons more to look forward to learning when they came back in September but that she wasn't going to think about right now.
All the thirteen year old could think about at this moment was how right Ary was. "It looks spectacular. Two years in a row, she beamed at him. Bry plopped down beside him like she normally when they reached their table. "We will. And each term after thats too." He wasn't the only one that was competitive.

Fourth year was basically over with, and Giselle was ready for summer to start. Not considering the stresses that came with fifth year yet. Nor was she particularly concerned about those anyway. There were an infinite number of better things to think about than exams that were basically a whole year away, and she wasn’t a Ravenclaw anyhow. She didn’t worry about things like that.
Besides the point, the Great Hall really did look good all decked out in familiar green and silver. She’d let her blue eyes flicker over the banners and such as she’d made her way into the hall for the feast, only briefly letting her gaze stop on the Hufflepuff table to look for her brother and Brandon, and Gryffindor to check for Rome of course. She had to check on her boys. The important ones, anyway and in any case, she didn’t go to them. They could come to her, and that applied to any of her boys. Or her minions, or anyone. She may have still been petite, but it wasn’t like it’d be hard to find her.
Especially as it appeared her fellow snakes were mostly elsewhere, as she took a seat not far away from the two younger housemates. Ones it was likely she’d probably see over the summer because of Aunt Hady. “Of course we will”, she said in response to Bryony’s declaration. They were Slytherins. They wouldn’t accept second best.

Another school year had come and gone. Gillyweed again had mixed feelings about such a thing. To her it seemed like her time at at school was passing by quickly -- she had only just been a first year not that long ago, and now she was months away from being a third year. Plus she still wanted to spend more time in the Room of Requirement and discover more of Hogwarts' secrets. As rationale settled in, though, she knew there were five more years ahead of her to do such things. So thoughts of possible summer plans is what started to fill her brain as she ventured up to the Great Hall.
Plant some fauna ... read ... a visit the zoo ... conduct beginner-level alchemy experiments ... more reading ... maybe a trip to the beach ... all of these had come to mind by the time the curly-haired girl made her way through the threshold of the large hall doors. She would, of course, have to converse with Drake about such things, which she figured, as she walked in the direction of the Slytherin table, could wait until the train ride home in the morning.
In greeting, a small smile was given as she placed herself near the three that were already seated at the table, settling in directly across from both Aryan and Bryony. She made quick work of listening in on the conversation that was being had, curious about the subject matter and if it was something she could chime in on. Talk of the House Cup was being had, which made sense given the evening's décor. It was something Gilly was proud of, though there really wasn't much further commentary she could add.
She wondered how long until the feast would be underway. Maybe she could get a few pages of the book she had in her pocket read before the headmaster rose from his chair to give his speech...

Ary’s eyes scanned the staff table {lingering on Feirgrund and Khanna for a moment} before looking around for Jan. Since he’d be spending sometime at Jan’s place over the summer, he’d also be seeing Feirgrund more. His happy gaze was now back on Bry. “Two years! Maybe our batch is the students that Slytherins needed to starts a winning streak.” After all, the Snake House had started the streak the year his age group had commenced the School. Coincidence? He thought not.
Then there was Giselle agreeing with Bry; the fourth year’s confidence just had Ary grinning. Had he mentioned how much he loved his House? Probably not because expressing such sentiments vocally were not his thing. But he did love being a Slytherin so much; as much as he loved a few of his Housemates. Gilly was one of those, so when she sat, he gave her a wide smile. Her silence was something he was used to. He even usually looked forward when it was just the two of them sitting together, each doing their own thing. It was comfortable sort of quiet, and Ary liked that.
“Wonder how much longer until the speech. I’m getting hungry.” It probably would have been a good idea to eat some Sout Patch Kids before had left the Common Room.

A planner, this Slytherin was not. Which was why as the second year dorm had cleared, he'd still been frantically scurrying about under all the beds - collecting the massive amounts of blankets he had brought with him at the beginning of term and shoving them into his trunk as best as he could. It had taken a lot more finagling than he remembered from beginning of the year to get the thing latch, but after lots of jumping on it and sitting on it and an embarrassing amount of sweating later... The task was accomplished. And as he scurried into the hall, he gave himself a pat on the back when he realized it had all been accomplished before Winterbottom started his speech.
A quick scan of the table as he approached showed his favorite people clustered around each other, which left Drake with very little to consider on his seating as he made his way directly to his twin's side, right across from Aryan and Bryony who both got wide smiles and their signature finger wiggles. "I think if all the points could be attributed to anyone from our year, it's probably you and Gil, Ary!" He remarked, catching the tale end of the conversation before as he settled into a seat. Naturally he and Bryony and all of the other almost-third-years contributed, however if he was going to tally who he thought was the most dedicated to studying and learning in the lessons.... It was those two. Glancing over at the older student too, Giselle, Drake gave her a small smile in greeting as well.

As much as he would have liked to be effortlessly brilliant - especially given the comparisons he couldn't help but draw between himself and certain of his relatives - Regulus had put in a lot of hard work to maintain his high grades this year, just as he did every year. With OWLs now just visible on the horizon, he was just as determined as ever to avoid slacking on his habit of studying ahead. Not that he could always avoid it even if he wanted to, but... well. That part depended on the frame of mind papà was in by the time Regulus got home. Letters from his grandfather seemed to indicate that things were fine, but it was better to see for certain with his own eyes.
Either way, the summer would hold more studying - or at least more reading - but also Under-Seventeens Quidditch matches, which were likely to be fun, and the unavoidable therapy sessions, which were sure to be much less fun. Also Regulus' fifteenth birthday, which could go either way, depending, again, on how papà was doing.
But back to right now, and Regulus was ready for the feast. Given how hard he'd worked himself for his end of year exams, he'd given himself permission to relax, culminating now in this end of term feast, so he was in a good enough mood as he seated himself at the Slytherin table.
"Hello," he said politely to those nearby, most of whom seemed to be in the lower years. To the girl he knew a little better, what with her being in his own year, he added, "Hi, Giselle. Looking forward to summer?" A cliche question for the end of the feast, but Regulus still had yet to break the habit of saying and doing what was most likely to be expected. Rome, as it turned out, was truly not built in a day.

Ary finger-wiggle waved back at Drake. “I’ll help you checks for any blankies that you missed.” He knew that was what his friend had been up to before. It was only fair, right? Afterall, the two had spent much time in their blankie fort over the term. He inclined his head in a sort of bow. “Why, thank yous, Drakey. Next terms, I’m going to make sures you work harder.” Was that a little threat? Yes, it was. Regulus also received one of the signature finger wiggle-waves.
And there was the speech.
Finally.
Aryan might not be a huge eater but there were times when his appetite could be fierce. This evening was one of those times. Onto his plate he tipped light foods; said plate wasn’t packed with food, just enough to appease his stomach. He ate silently for the moment, reflecting on his belongings in the dorm. He’d have to make sure he wasn’t leaving anything behind. There would definitely be a quick check happening before he left the Castle. However, that would be done tomorrow morning. There was nothing like doing stuff last minute. Besides, this evening was for food and sleep. | |
