If you are eager to see, be seen, and get to London first, then the front passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what your summer plans, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by exchanging addresses, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
Maria pushed away the damp and sweaty curly dark strands off hair out of her face after getting her too heavy trunk onto the train. For some reason her trunk got heavier by each year which was odd as she hadn't packed more stuff then usual. It was a dilemma she mused on while finding herself an empty seat in the front of the train. To sit near the train driver was usually good, the now sixth year badgerette had learned on her previous train rides. Nobody caused too much of a fuss in the front or at least that was what she had thought as she stopped on the entrance to an empty compartment to stare at some green moving goo that was just everywhere in sight. "Yuck! What is this stuff?" Maria called out to nobody in particular.

A green slimey substance that moved, and covered every part of her chosen compartment wasn't Maria's picture of a great start to the train ride. As luck had it though it wasn't long before she was joined by her stocky built boyfriend who gave her a cheek kiss in greeting. She had missed Kion on the platform as she had said her goodbyes to her dads. Returning the kiss she smiled "Hey Kion," gesturing to the mess in front of them Maria echoed "Yes it's so gross. That green slimey stuff even moves...Any idea what it could be?" Maria considered his offer "I'd like that, but what do we do if someone else gets this compartment, like some firsties who can't use magic, and they get attacked by the slimey stuff.. Won't we feel guilty?" Since they were sixteen years old and could use magic better than others.

Not usually one for places that are overcrowded and full of loud and obnoxious children, Sloane Knott found herself somewhat oblivious to the noise around her as she stepped off of Platform 9 ¾ and onto the scarlet train that was the Hogwarts Express. Having already deposited her trunk, Circe, her own, was safely tucked in her cage in one hand as she walked through the corridor and into one of the first empty carriages found at the front of the cars.
Sliding the door behind her, Sloane placed Circe in the middle on the same side as her and sat herself in the corner next to the window. Pulling her legs up to her chest, she pulled out one of the books she’d picked up from Diagon Alley that she’d been reading over the summer and flipped it open to the page she’d reached and continued reading.
It wasn’t until she got to the bottom of the page did she pull out a quill and write something in the book. It was only a small note about how the main character was annoying her, but she couldn’t help it. Much like the rest of the book had been filled with her thoughts and feelings, this page would be no different. This wasn’t something she did with every book she read, but only to those that others had recommended to her, for she liked to be able to tell them exactly what she liked and what she didn’t. Phoebe was no doubt going to be sad to hear that one of her favourite books wasn’t to her liking but it wasn’t all bad. Just mostly.

Having somehow abandoned his brother on the chaos that was Platform 9 ¾, Elias had slipped onto the train before the inevitable pep talk that would come from his father and the coddling from his mother. Not that he minded the latter too much, he was a Mummy’s boy after all but his fellow students need not know that.
He had found the front of the train to be a little less overbearing than the other sections and therefore the ideal spot to nestle in with a book or a puzzle and not be disturbed for the entirety of the journey. At least that was what his expectations were but unfortunately Hogwarts didn’t often match up to his needs and the train was already filling up fast with over-eager students who would want to disturb his alone time.
The only compartment that seemed to be empty enough for the twelve year old to tolerate contained a student younger than himself who didn’t have that bubbly over-the-top attitude that he despised and whom he could probably intimidate enough with his cold stare to keep quiet. He slid the door open, glancing wordlessly in her direction before setting out his supplies on the seat nearest the window and settling into the space next to that.

Vasco was sat on the bench sideways, one of his legs stressed out across the seat and the other flat on the floor while he sat slumped against the wall/window. He was wearing one of his hoodies this morning, the hood over his head and his eyes closed at the moment as he listened to whatever song was coming through the noise cancelling headphones he had on over his ears. Thank you to the magic he had taught himself years early to make this work.
Laying comfortably on his chest was the newly acquired kitten he had received over the summer from Vera. Beelz was still wearing the chain and bell around her tiny fluffy neck along with an adorable little pink and white shirt/dress combo thing that completely went against everything Vera had ever said about the precious baby.

Should anyone ask him about it though and he was going to blame it all on his family trip to Italy, yup, he had enjoyed the trip so much that everything else had paled in comparison to it now. Or so he said. Cause obviously there were all those days spent in DA with a certain someone, several letters written and sent back and forth and many many mirror calls.
All summers must come to an end and with that, this was how he came to be where he currently was. In the first empty compartment he had come across somewhere between the front and middle of the train. Vasco was sat on the bench sideways, one of his legs stressed out across the seat and the other flat on the floor while he sat slumped against the wall/window. He was wearing one of his hoodies this morning, the hood over his head and his eyes closed at the moment as he listened to whatever song was coming through the noise cancelling headphones he had on over his ears. Thank you to the magic he had taught himself years early to make this work.
Laying comfortably on his chest was the newly acquired kitten he had received over the summer from Vera. Beelz was still wearing the chain and bell around her tiny fluffy neck along with an adorable little pink and white shirt/dress combo thing that completely went against everything Vera had ever said about the precious baby.
Summer had been a good one, plenty of time spent exploring Diagon Alley, piles of books she'd been able to get through, and of course getting to help out around the reserve and fit some more practice in on her horse. She'd spent most of the time doing the things she loved, or staying social with the few contacts she had made the previous term. But... Alouette was also pretty anxious to be able to return to Hogwarts, even if there was some disappointment underneath too that it was already her last time to do so.
Boarding the train with the rest of her peers (and siblings), she shot the other Wild's a few waves and a wink towards Pippa before picking her way through the crowd. She could have asked if they wanted to find somewhere together, but she also was certain they had their own people they'd like to find. Or at the very least, probably not want to be saddled with biggest sister. Or those could have just been excuses she was telling herself, as there was a particular bird she was looking forward to perching with for the trip.
It didn't take long to find him, as she peered into a few of the compartments towards the front. And of course he was lounged and looked like he'd already drifted off, with Beelz serenely curled up on his chest with that all too familiar bell around her neck. Al couldn't stop the slight smirk that settled on her face as she quietly let herself in, pausing to give the gentlest head scratch to the kitten before she settled into the seat opposite him. She didn't say a word, just pulled a book from her bag and stretched out her own legs to stretch across the cabin and rest on top of the outstretched one.

This boy didn't need any reminders that it was someone's last year and not his. Things always had a way of messing with him and he wasn't going to let that ruin their current friendship and the ease in which everything came whenever he hung around with her. So there would be no mentioning it from him, not anytime soon anyhow.
If anyone was looking for him, and he wouldn't be surprised if someone was.. he hadn't expected to be found so soon. At least not by this someone.
Big huge bright eyes opened and there was a soft purr that vibrated through the small fluff ball at the head scratch. Beelz had already become very familiar with Allie and therefore didn't find any reason to alert her boy of the newcomer. Therefore the purring from her didn't bother Vas in the slightest and his own hand lifted to give her a light petting on the neck without even opening his eyes.
That was at least until a pair of legs came to rest upon his, his hazel-ish eyes opening as he turned his head slowly to where she was sat across from him. "Comfortable?" he asked by way of greeting, a grin tugging at lips far quicker than normal should it have been anyone else that had done this.

In theory, it was quite simple: he would take care of getting the snacks, and she was going to find them a compartment they could canoodle in. It was only after he had bought an armful of sweets that he didn't know where on the train the girlfriend ended up.

Considering there really was no rhyme or reason when it came to choosing a compartment, Logan decided that to find her he'd have to search the train and hope he'd get lucky and not have to look for too long. He was making his way down the corridor at the front of the train when he caught sight of Vasco.
Without wasting a beat, he slid open the compartment door and stepped inside. "Have you seen Vera anywhere?" It was then that he took note of the set of legs that were resting on his mate's. The blond's brain slowly processed the sight before him as he glanced from Vasco to the legs and back again.

She certainly didn't feel the need to bring it up to present company either. Especially when it was a full school year away. And a lot could happen in a year anyways - it would have been presumptuous to think now that anyone outside of her own siblings (and that might have even been a stretch too) would care if she was not returning a full year from today. So she just wouldn't think about it.
Which was far easier to do now, as she was distracted by how comfortable the Ravenclaw looked as she disturbed him. Or the adorable sound of Beelz purring after Allie had given kitten scratches. It was nice too the little cat was already familiar with her - though she attributed that to the fact she'd bought her plenty of treats and toys on the day Vasco had introduced her to his new pet. It was amusing too the cat didn't give her away, which she reminded herself to give her more treats for later.
It had been a toss up on if stretching out would have disturbed him either. From what he said of his sisters, she half assumed he might have just thought she was his twin here to bother him. But as she settled, his eyes opened as his head turned towards her and she was awarded one of his lazy smiles which she quickly returned. "Quite, thank you. You're a very comfortable footstool." She replied, a light teasing tone. She would have inquired if he was as well, but she was distracted by the sound of the compartment door opening again and an entering blonde asking if he knew where Vera was.
The twin. Which meant this must have been best friend and now sister's boyfriend. She leaned over slightly to observe him, her curly hair tied into a pony tail that flopped to the side as she did so. Noticing the confused look at her legs resting on top of Vasco's, she couldn't help the soft laugh. Amusement was clear in her expression as she looked towards her companion again. "Logan?" She asked, taking her guess on which of his Gryffindors this was.

Honey brown eyes followed the form of the boy as he entered the compartment and sat down. Back where she came from, people usually greet each other before invading someone’s space. Manners, you know? But this was not where she came from and maybe cultures and mannerisms were different. That was another thing she’d have to get used to, she supposed.
Was she supposed to say hi? Or simply ignore his existence? The latter sounded rude and the former sounded too daring.
Yulietta didn’t know what to do, so she did what sounded like the better idea. She reached into her purse and pulled out a bag of hot cheetos and started eating, her short legs mildly swinging.

A friendly greeting would most certainly be the polite thing to do when entering an occupied carriage but Elias was not here to make friends nor did he care what a first year's opinion of him would be and therefore the deafening silence continued.
That was until she started crunching on some kind of muggle snack whose scent was offensively wafting under his nose. He shot her a cold hard stare as if to criticise her for making such a stupid decision. If the other carriages weren’t full of irritating students then he wouldn’t have to be here but alas a quiet first year was better than the alternative. At least he thought it would be. “Those smell revolting” he commented, nose in the air as if the oxygen at the top of the compartment would be cleaner. “Couldn’t you have chosen something normal like a Pumpkin Pasty?” His eyes glanced down to the words on the bag which he squinted at. He’d never heard of them which likely meant they were from the Muggle world.

What if they didn't mention it all this entire year? Not once. There was nothing at all wrong in pretending it wasn't a thing, right? He could have a terrible year next year when she wasn't around and there was nothing at all he could do about it.
Now see, that was just the thing.. Ve probably would've kicked his foot, or taken his headphones to let him know that she was there with him. While Vesper would've taken Beelz and then sat on him. This had been nothing at all like that. While Allie had placed her legs upon his, it had been done gently and quietly, So quietly in fact that he had actually had to adjust one of the headphones off of his ear so that he could hear her when she replied back to him. "So glad you think so." He laughed, about to say more when there was a voice that broke up their current conversation.
It was neither of his sisters but someone he knew equally as well. The best friend. And it came as no surprise that he wasn't looking for him anymore.. but his sister. Of course. An amused smile tugged at his lips with how quick Allie was to guess that the voice belonged to Logan. Ignoring the looks from the Gryffindor, Vasco nodded at his blonde companion, yes, she was current. "Not since we stepped onto the train. I wouldn't be surprised if she's already lounging around in one of the compartments."
Beelz took this moment while her human was rather comfortable to stand up on his chest and strrrrrrrreeeeeetchhhhhhhhh. Then she turned on her paws with the greatest sense of purpose and made her way over his lap and across Allie's legs right up onto her lap where she promptly laid down on the girls book. She was finished with that anyhow, yes?

Kion took his wand out to point at the goo to wipe it away, "Tergeo!" Hopefully, that took care of it.
A friendly greeting would most certainly be the polite thing to do when entering an occupied carriage but Elias was not here to make friends nor did he care what a first year's opinion of him would be and therefore the deafening silence continued.
That was until she started crunching on some kind of muggle snack whose scent was offensively wafting under his nose. He shot her a cold hard stare as if to criticise her for making such a stupid decision. If the other carriages weren’t full of irritating students then he wouldn’t have to be here but alas a quiet first year was better than the alternative. At least he thought it would be. “Those smell revolting” he commented, nose in the air as if the oxygen at the top of the compartment would be cleaner. “Couldn’t you have chosen something normal like a Pumpkin Pasty?” His eyes glanced down to the words on the bag which he squinted at. He’d never heard of them which likely meant they were from the Muggle world.
Even worse.
She wasn't comfortable, but she was a bit content with her snacks, and she was far too busy taking in the scenery to notice the stare he was giving her. Yulietta's never been on a train. She's been on buses and cars and airplanes, but they weren't as interesting as a train. They went fast and there was so much nature to see. She liked it especially when they crossed a bridge.
It was his snooty little voice that broke her gaze from the window. While she didn't understand what he said, his body language and face expression told her more. Did he not like hot cheetos? Was he insinuating they smelled bad? Or was is face naturally set like that?
Yulietta simply stared at him as she slipped another red cheeto into her mouth and ate.

Kion could feel his face heat as bright as his smile returned Maria's kiss. "You did brilliant, everything looks so clean now." He commented on how quicker her spell worked compared to his. "We can stay," He was pretty much happy wherever she wanted to go as he waited on her to take a seat before joining her.
"So, how did you do on your exams? I got 9 O.W.Ls. 2 Outstandings in Ancient Runes & Defense. A's in Herbology and Creatures and the rest were E's." Kion was happy he didn't get any P's or lower. "Do you think we'll get a chance to relax this term until N.E.W.T's next year?" He hoped so, but wasn't expecting much relaxing either way.

She replied, a light teasing tone. She would have inquired if he was as well, but she was distracted by the sound of the compartment door opening again and an entering blonde asking if he knew where Vera was.
The twin. Which meant this must have been best friend and now sister's boyfriend. She leaned over slightly to observe him, her curly hair tied into a pony tail that flopped to the side as she did so. Noticing the confused look at her legs resting on top of Vasco's, she couldn't help the soft laugh. Amusement was clear in her expression as she looked towards her companion again. "Logan?" She asked, taking her guess on which of his Gryffindors this was.

Vasco's words almost didn't register in the blond's mind, considering he was still trying to put two and two together. He could assume what was going on easily, though the how and when was the great mystery. The tail end of his best friend was communicating did manage to get through to him.
"Helpful," the Gryffindor replied sarcastically, his eyes now focused on the Ravenclaw as he tossed a packet of jelly slugs at the boy's head. His gaze lingered on him for a moment, as if to say they needed to talk. Such a conversation would happen later, of course. There was a girlfriend he had to find, and he could see that Vasco was ... preoccupied. "Well, then I'll be —"
The intentions to depart and continue with his search (and then see what, if anything, Vera knew about this particular development) came to a halt when the blonde girl stated his name. "Logan? Yes, that would be me," he replied, a list of random names running through his mind that were not connecting with the face he was now looking at. "And you are? I'm sorry; Vas wasn't being much of a gentleman by not introducing us to each other."
It was then he noticed the kitten. "And who is this?"

Honestly, he had himself a deal. The only illusion she'd make to it would be the necessary breaks in any potential hang outs for her studying. She didn't really need good grades for her chosen career path, but Alouette preferred to be on the smart side in the hopefully unlikely event no one wanted to sponsor her or take her on as a jockey as part of their team. Plus, professional athletes only had so long that they were in their prime. She was being realistic on the point that she should have something lined up for when she had to retire too. And while the reserve would always welcome her, she wasn't really keen on living the rest of her life on the island. Sorry parents.
While the two boys spoke for a moment, Allie's brown eyes moved to the little kitten as she streeeetched before making her way over towards her lap instead. While she was not one to outwardly squeal, the kitten occasionally made her rethink that. Even if she was covering a book and keeping her from having any chance of reading it. Not that she really ever planned to anyways when Vas was far better company. Laughing softly, she raised her hand to give Beelz more head scratches. "Point taken." She said softly to the kitten, only wiggling the book gently out from under her to set it aside on top of her bag. That couldn't be comfortable for sleeping on, right?
Tuning back into the conversation, before Logan's attention had shifted to her, she offered a suggestion. "You could stay and send her a note about where you are. Magic will probably find her faster than you could." Was that showing a bit too much that since she'd turned 17 she was far too reliant on spells and charms? Probably. But it was useful. Picking up the kitten slightly, Allie removed her legs from Vasco's and put them both on the floor, making the compartment easier to come into if the Gryffindor chose to do so. "I've heard a lot about you." She said, eyes turning back to Vasco in amusement. "He's lucky he's easy to forgive then." She replied regarding the lack of introduction, though at least on her end it had not been needed. "I'm Alouette, or Allie." Eyes shifted back to Logan as she said her name, giving him a nod of a greeting as she did so. "Nice to finally meet you. Though I'm a little disappointed Vera wasn't here too." She'd of course heard a lot about the twin as well.
As for Beelz? The kitten wasn't hers, so she kept quiet on that question and instead just continued to pet the kitten.
