Atop the marble staircase in the Entrance Hall along the corridor that will direct you to the moving staircases, you stumble across a long, horizontal cork bulletin board that is encased in glass. Here you will find an array of notices and signs, stick up by tacks and push-pins, that are meant for the entire student body to read. Anything from requests, advertisements, lost and found notices, and gentle reminders can be viewed for all eyes to see.
If you have something you would like to add to this colourful, paper-filled board, you are more than welcome to do so. Simply slide over the glass surrounding the board (it is never locked) and stick on the board whatever it is you wish for everyone to know. Having this board for your use is a privilege, not a right, so use it responsibly. Any crude drawings or messages will result in the bulletin board crumpling them up and throwing your balled notice at your face, giving you a deep paper cut, before you even have a chance to slide the glass back to its original place.

With the intention of having the students practise their duelling and defensive skills a little more, Dhruv thought it best to add a reminder to the Notice Board. Written on neon green cardboard so that the notice would be bound to catch anyone’s attention who visited the board, the words served to inform the new students and remind the old ones that the Dueling Arena was open to all and that they may even engage professors as duelling partners. Watching the students advance in the magic was always quite rewarding to this DADA professor.
They hummed the School’s song as they performed Wandless Magic to first slide the class back then to adhere the cardboard against a blank patch of the board. After the glass was slid back in place, they turned their attention to the other notices.
Was there anything that would pique their interest?
Phoebe was Looking for someone. A very specific someone that she hadn't seen since age 5. The problem was, Phoebe didn't know the girl's last name or what she looked like now. To help her in her search, a friend's sister had looked at a few old photos and made her a sketch of what Aaliyah should look like now. But Phoebe was still having a really hard time.
Phoebe had a poster. It said "DO YOU KNOW MY FRIEND AALIYAH" in bright orange letters with a sketch and an old photo attached. "My name is Phoebe Dupont. We used to live in the same house and I would really live to be friends again and show you my cat Smudge but I don't even know if you go to this school. Please help." This poster was probably stupid, anyway. Aaliyah could be a squib, or go to a different school, or be homeschooled, or be DEAD THE WHOLE TIME WITHOUT PHOEBE EVEN KNOWING. Or hate Phoebe. Or have forgotten about Phoebe. All of these ideas made Phoebe unhappy, though, and this was worth a shot.
She took several copies of her poster under her arm and walked down to the bulletin board. But when she was there, she was sort of frightened away by the DADA professor. For one thing, she wasn't sure if she was allowed to put up notices as a student. Also, Professor Khanna scared her. Even though she knew they were trapped in a mirror last term, she still couldn't get over how cold and intimidating and uncaring they had appeared. Clutching her posters tightly, she froze behind them, hoping they would go away soon.
Phoebe was pretty short. Maybe they wouldn't notice!

Dhruv had surveyed the notices on the Board and decided that there were going to be a few extra clubs they were going to drop in on as the term progressed. Aside from wanting to support their colleagues, it would also be wise for them to broaden their knowledge. So, a strong mental resolution was made then they turned to head away…
And almost ran into little Phoebe a couple of steps away from the Board.
“Sorry there, Ms.Calypso,’’ Dhruv began apologetically. The other words they had been about to offer - kind ones, of course - faded from their lips as the frightened appearance of the Slytherin was observed. “Is something the matter?” they asked in concern, quite forgetting that they might now be perceived as completely strict and unfriendly by many of the first years and transfer students from last term.
Phoebe took a couple hasty steps back, not wanting to be bumped into generally and especially not by one of the most unfriendliest professors she knew. They might say Phoebe, you are a really bad student at everything, and I agree with all your dormmates that you are always in somebody's way, like right now while I'm walking. Or they might simply brush past her with a cold look, which was virtually the same thing in Phoebe's anxious brain. What if they confiscated all of her posters, and then said that her friend probably didn't want Phoebe looking for her, and also that Phoebe was bad at making posters anyways, and that she had too much lung irritation and was annoying in their class when she coughed? Not that Professor Khanna had ever said THAT, even at their most unfriendly, but Phoebe's mind imagined that they could. She looked at them with the most biggest anxious eyes, hoping that perhaps there was another Phoebe Calypso standing right behind her who was a little taller.
"Uhm... nothing," she said, holding her DO YOU KNOW MY FRIEND AALIYAH posters close to her chest in a way that was intended to disguise them but actually had the words facing the professor's way. Realizing this, she stuck the papers behind her back instead and looked rather guilty. "I was just, you know, g-going to look at the club offerings, but I couldn't really see them, because my eyesight was bad, so then... um..." Yeah, Phoebe had no clue how she would explain this and she assumed that she wasn't allowed to set up posters, so. Here we were. "...yeah. I was just looking. At stuff. Sort of." Phoebe was trying not to be a big liar anymore, but it was just that she thought she'd get in trouble if she said that she wanted to put a poster up, and she still thought of Professor Khanna as strict even though they were so nice when they weren't being replaced by a mean alter ego.

Dhruv would never say any such thing!
Had they known what Phoebe was thinking, the words would have speared their heart like a million arrows. But they wouldn’t have blamed her; they were just being overly oversensitive to a situation that they hadn’t had any control over. The aftermath in reactions from the students were to be expected. The thing was, they were dreading the amount of students who would see them in this negative light.
The DADA professor arched an eyebrow just the slightest at Phoebe’s action of hiding the flyers behind her back. And her demeanour? It confused them because as far as they could tell, the Hufflepuff wasn’t usually this way. Was she nervous about being caught with those posters? Had she wanted to put them up anonymously? Was it some pre-teenage angst of some sort? “I encourage you to sign up for Duelling Club,’’ they told her kindly. “It’ll be rather beneficial to your defensive magic skills. Not to mention for your OWLs and NEWTs.” However distant those exams may be, it was always a good idea to get some practice in early.
“Would you like me to help you put your posters up? It won’t be any trouble at all.”
Phoebe.... didn't understand why Professor Khanna was telling her about- oh yeah. Right. She was 'looking for clubs'. "Um... Um... I don't know if I'd be good at dueling. I might freeze and get hurt and have to go to the hospital wing again. I'd rather be part of a club that isn't scary. Like art club or reading club." Truthfully, Phoebe hadn't tried out for a single club. She wasn't really a Hogwarts People Person and she didn't have a lot of friends, and she was afraid that nobody in the clubs would like her. Not that she had checked...
How come Professor Khanna made her say all that stuff about clubs when they knew the whole time that she was making things up? Phoebe sighed heavily, then showed them the flyers that she made. "I thought we weren't allowed to put up flyers," she mumbled. "And I didn't want you to put me in detention." Besides... it was sort of personal. She didn't want everybody and their mom to know all of her business, especially Intimidating Professors Who Were Being Awfully Nice Now That They Weren't Swapped With Evil Clones. She sighed heavily. "I'm sort of looking for my friend Aaliyah. We used to live with the same family but I haven't seen her in a long time." She handed the papers over so Professor Khanna could see and hopefully help her put them up.

Dhruv chuckled; they could not help it because… how many times had they heard those words, albeit in different ways? They always used the opportunity to gently nudge the reluctant student in the right direction. “All the more reason for you to join the club, don’t you think, Ms. Calypso? I can guarantee that you’ll see an improvement to not only your spell casting and magical defensive skills, but also your confidence.” There was nothing wrong with playing it safe with Art Club and Reading Club, of course. “You’ll at least think about joining?’’ Dhruv added gently.
Put her in det- oh.
Their face fell slightly but it was quickly hitched up, keeping a slightly forced smile in place. Ouch. It hurt to be reminded that they were a meanie last year. “I wouldn’t throw you into detention for that. I’d have a stern talk to you if the posters were inappropriate but that’s about it.” Accepting the poster from Phoebe, Dhruv looked it over, registering the information there. “That’s… sad.” They felt the Hufflepuff’s pain and immediately wanted to help. “Is she the same age as you? If not, do you know her age, exact or approximate?”

Despite her initial lack of interest for joining any clubs at all, Professor Khanna made some annoyingly good points and Phoebe was slightly interested. Dueling and jiu jitsu could make a good combo of interests. "I guess you're right... Do you think I could make friends in dueling club?" She might join a meeting or two, but she didn't want to go if everyone there hated her and wanted to hex her or turn her into a frog, okay? It was unclear where she'd gotten that idea, but she was a big worrier. She most likely made it up all by herself, but it COULD happen.
Phoebe relaxed just a little, feeling bad that she was judging Professor Khanna when they were only being nice to her. "...It's not sad, I'm fine. It's whatever, probably nobody will reply and I'll never find her." AKA Phoebe was really sad about this and was hoping that somebody would know something about where her friend went. Um... "Her name is Aaliyah and she's my age. And she has dark skin, hair, and eyes. Um, and she really smiled a lot but I don't know, maybe she doesn't smile anymore times. Um, and my friend's sibling said that she may sort of look like this sketch on the poster now, but I'm not really sure. And-" Phoebe perked up, feeling encouraged by this next tidbit. "She really liked rocks and dinosaurs. That's important, right?" Phoebe felt that Aaliyah probably still really liked rocks and dinosaurs, and that that might help find her.
...maybe. "Also she's a pureblood, like me. So that's why I thought she might go here or to another wizarding school."

Yes, they did make some great points, didn’t they? It came with the experience of having many years of teaching under their belt. “Think? I know you will, Ms. Calypso. Oftentimes, I’ll pair a student with another based on their age. It usually varies by one year, either higher or lower, mostly to match your study level and experiences with spells. That way, each student can help each other improve, and many times, they strike up a great friendship. Of course, if this turns out to be the opposite, pairs can be swapped.” Dhruv ensured their Club was more than just a place where students went to practice.
The professor regarded Phoebe calmly. They were sure it was a sad event but did not push the Hufflepuff. “Or maybe you’ll find her and you’ll have your friend back,’’ they said gently. It could happen… but first, Aaliyah needed to be found. Phoebe knew a lot about her friend, which was great. Dhruv could completely understand wanting to and needing to reconnect with a friend. They would have felt the same way if they had lost Jericho or Grayson, their closest friends from their Hogwarts student days. “I don’t think I’ve seen her here.” And they would know since they were a professor. “But that’s no reason to be discouraged; someone else might know her. It’s a good start to deduce that she may attend a wizarding school, and every bit of information you have on her will be helpful.” They stepped out of the way. “You should put that poster up now.” Dhruv paused then added, “I’ll be sure to mention this to the other professors.”
